Minkus · 02/06/2008 09:20

Peanut he's beautiful- and looks so much like Luke from the photo on your profile!

It must be so upsetting for you not knowing what the next day will bring, I can't imagine the emotions you must be going through on a daily basis. Big hugs and squeezes to all three of you, you especially must be exhausted with the interrupted sleep. Wish there was something we all could do. Thinking of you and you beautiful son lots xxxxxxxxxxx

mcchesers · 02/06/2008 09:35

Oh Peanut..he's lovely. I'm all weepy now.
Looks like they let you touch him as much as possible. I am sending lots of hugs down the line to you xx

Pigley- your niece is a doll!

I can't wait until we are holding our babies

Tjuice- You look beautiful! It sounds like a day to remember.

I am having all the same complaints as the rest of you girls..just sore in my pelvis and between my legs..my knees sounds like they are going to give out. Think I might try and get a bit more rest and then come back and catch up.

Libra1975 · 02/06/2008 09:39

Oh Peanut he is adorable, are you winning with the name charlie

gillythekid · 02/06/2008 09:48

Peanut he's such a cutie and it sounds as though everyone is doing their best for him. I can't imagine how exhausted you all must be. Thinking of you and wishing him stronger and healthier by the hour x

disneystar · 02/06/2008 09:49

pigleychez · 02/06/2008 09:54

Peanut....

Hes sooo georgous! You must be very proud!
Charlie is def a fighter.
Keep us informed on his progress and hope he is allowed home with you soon.

Just got a shock! Just recieved an email of some photos of me and Tiffany taken yesterday by my dad. I was soo shocked as to how large i look! pretty scary! I appear to have really grown lately!

isaidno · 02/06/2008 09:59

peanut he's gorgeous. It must be so hard not to be able to take him home. I feel very possessive over my newborn babies and only like handing them over to someone else for a short time! Can't imagine what you are going through.

Kaz1967 · 02/06/2008 10:00

Peanut73 only seen it from the other side thank god (although the other day thought I was going to see the one here in Boston ) but I know it's as hard work as having the baby with you plus emotionally more tiring. Many people don't realise how exhausting it is they just assume you are having all the rest you need because Charlie is in hospital. Don't be afraid to have a morning, afternoon, evening off. If you have a reasonable milk supply try taking a night a week off pumping it will help you milk supply in the long run because you don't produce as much milk when shattered.

Ask about Kangaroo care he will sleep much better when or after he has been skin to skin with you and as long as his jaundice is not sky high then an hour off it with you will be as much benefit to him and you in other ways (Dads can do kangaroo care too).

Another thing to try is make a tape to play when you are not there I wrote this to another Mum with an extreme premmie.

"One little girl I remember both her parents made a tape where they said hello in the normal way they greeted her then they read a story in this case both read a Beatrice Potter one and finished with what they usually said when they left. Mum was on one side Dad on the other and they both had the most amazing effect on her, She would to from this tiny screaming child in an incubator to a wide awake, calm and looking around little girl until the tape finished and then she fell asleep.

You will need a player with speakers because electricity and oxygen do not mix and the hospitals maintenance department will probably want to check it out. But from my experience it is well worth doing and at least something positive parents feel they can do."

Heffagooday · 02/06/2008 10:11

Peanut - he's such a beautiful little boy! You must be so proud. Is he definitely a Charlie? Thinking of you all, I hope you get to take him home soon.

Pigley - Tiffany is gorgeous. I get so weepy seeing newborns now.

EEC · 02/06/2008 10:20

Impressed with anyone thinking about triathlons at this stage! I fell I will never be able to even walk fast again let alone anything else!

Tjuice. Congrats! You look faba nd funky! It's a real count down now...

Pigley - cute pics

Catec - Welcome

Peanut - he's gorgeous. Stay strong. It will pass and he'll be home with you soon.

min912 · 02/06/2008 10:20

Wow, massive congratulations to both Tjuice and to Peanut... not to sound stupid, but wow, an actual baby!!! Sometimes it seems like I can only focus on the negative stuff (being huge, uncomfortable, being kicked in the cervix, heartburn, etc.) and forget what this is actually all about - a baby at the end. Yey, I knew there was a reason to go through it all!

DH put up the cot we got free and not to be ungrateful but it is quite basic (only one mattress position, drop-down mechanism is very stiff and clunky) so I am debating getting a bedside cot... anyone have any experience of using one?? I am trying to talk myself out of a Stokke sleepi because they seem incredibly expensive, but am tempted by either Mothercare or Brio bedside cots.

Peanut he is divine - so little and perfect! I have gotten all weepy after my sleepless night last night. Kia kaha as we say in NZ (stay strong).

Soooo much work to get through today -aarrrgh. Wish I could just go home and have a nap. But must get on with it so I can leave at a decent hour.

Have a lovely day all.

twinkle1 · 02/06/2008 10:54

isaidno · 02/06/2008 11:06

We love butlins Twinkle! We're going to Minehead in October.

sweetkitty · 02/06/2008 11:18

Morning everyone, got 10 mins before nursery pick up, so spending it wisely

peanut - your little man is adorable, you hang on in there, I know it's a cliche but it won't be long until he's home with you.

pigley - your neice is lovely too (mega broody with all these baby pics), won't be long until you get one of those (can't remember but your a surprise aren't you?)

min912 - I can't recommend a bedside cot highly enough, DD2 is just about to be kicked out hers. Ours is a cosatto (can't remember where I got it from though). Goes right against your bed with no gaps, we found DD2 started off in there and graduated over in the night. Sometimes she was in the middle and my bum was in the cot! The fourth side slides under the cot so you can have it up during the day for naps and down at night. I so wish I had one for DD1. Good value for money though as DD2 will be in hers until 2 1/2 and it's going to do another baby now (with new mattress).

twinkle - good luck at the hospital, can't believe you are off on holiday superwoman, takes me all my time to go to the supermarket.

Right best be off to collect my biggest girl, my middle girl is doing so well settling in at nursery that on Wednesday I am leaving both of them and will be childless for 2 1/2 hours what will I do??? Better make the most of it as my baby girl will soon be here

disneystar · 02/06/2008 11:18

isadno we are going end of august
i have a feeling ive been a bit fast really as baby wont be that old
maybe i should re book for later

Libra1975 · 02/06/2008 11:23

sleepycat - I have that addiction as well, currently Tesco are doing 2 packs of jubblys for £2 (20 lollies basically) they are gorgeous (got thru 5 yesterday )

min912 - I'm the same as you, I tend to focus on the negative rather than the fact there will be this adorable (well when it's not crying) baby that DH and I both really really want and love with all our hearts already.

Kaz can I ask you with all your experience do you think you feel more prepared than the rest of us first-timers and that you are going to be more able to state your wishes firmly during the labour?

Libra1975 · 02/06/2008 11:25

SK - if you are bored on Wednesday when your children are all at nursery I have heard of this website where mums sit and chat:
www.mumsnet.com/

sweetkitty · 02/06/2008 11:54

Libra - don't you know I am far too busy to spend my time chatting on the internet

Mummywannabe · 02/06/2008 12:04

Hi all.

Pigley - your niece is lovely.

Peanut - what a beautiful little boy! It must be so hard for you. Thinking of you.

Have consultant appointment tommorow for blood platelet problems, bit nervous as to what they will say, nothing is my guess.

waiting for my lovely mum to arrive and clean my carpets for me, only asked to borrow her vax but she offered to come over and do it! Bless.

Dh was sweet to me yesterday, he seems to understand the pregnancy thing more now its in his face, he told me how he knows he doesn't say alot but he is so excited about becoming a daddy. This was in the middle of the pub we were having dinner in. I burst into tears just as the waitress arrived! Bloody hormones!

Squarah · 02/06/2008 12:05

libralady - oh goodness I just read about your horrendous holiday ending - how awful for you! We were actually stuck up in Fiscardo at the time as the power and then fuel strike meant that we had no car till the Friday. Obviously I managed to cope with more sitting around and doing nothing admirably!

Have you recovered from it yet? Thanks so much for the advice - we loved Kefalonia - especially with all the spring flowers out. We particularly loved Fiscardo and Assos and spent some time at Agia Efemia, Antisamos beach, Poros gorge, Robola winery. Wasn't that keen on Argostoli - full of building work - but it was sunday so quite empty anyway. We also vegged out on Myrtos too - but I found all the pebbles quite sore on the old hips! We also hired a little boat for a day and pootled up the coastline into little bays etc - so relaxing. Lots of eating and sleeping and nice time for me and the DH.

Anyway - after all that life is still quite hectic and hips very sore - I've got a stunning stretchy band from the physio which helps. And despite measuring big for dates my scan was normal on friday - I saw my little baby's face so clearly on the scan that it took away all of the worry - little squidgy nose and lips and everything! And it's only on the 50th centile which is just fine. Phew.

Taking it VERY slowly today. Hope all you ladies are well. Excuse the giant post - huge warm thoughts to peanut and your gorgeous mite and congrats Tjuice - loved your dress!

bebejones · 02/06/2008 12:17

Just spent the last hour catching up!

Peanut, your LO is soooo gorgeous! Hang in there xx

Having a pretty miserable couple of days. Had a BBQ on saturday and had loads of people over...kind of a baby shower but we didnt ask for anything except people's company! Had a really late night and had been awake since 5am. By the time I got to bed I could hardly move and my ankles had completely disappeared!!! Subsequently felt rubbish all day yesterday then started feeling pressure in my bum everytime I sat down or moved, and was getting really sharp pains. This has continued all night so have had no sleep again! DH has been on sofa for a week or so as my sleeping pattern is so disturbed and neither of us were getting any rest at all! So when at 5am this morning I went to move and couldn't because of the pain I had to use the intercom to wake him up so he could come and help me move! Rang docs and one came running round within 15mins! He thinks that baby is moving down into pelvis and coz of the SPD and sciatica that is why I am feeling so much pressure and pain! Had a listen to her heartbeat and its a healthy 140 so I know she is ok, just me that's feeling it right now she is obviously very comfy!! Just waiting for MW to come out and give me once over to make sure I dont have to go into hospital...fingers crossed. Only 31+4....dont want her to arrive yet!

Sorry for the winge just feeling really grotty and low and uncomfortable and emotional!!!!!!

JODIEhavingababy · 02/06/2008 12:17

Hello ladies (and Hubarb!)

Peanut Charlie is soo beautiful, I really feel for you, must be hard for you and Luke at the moment, but he looks a good size, and it sounds like he's feeding well. so all good signs. Do you know how lomg it is before you can bring him home?

pigley your neice is so sweet, I can't quite believe we've all got one of them in our tummies! You probably said, but how heavy was she born?

Just got back from reflexology, never needed a relax so bad, think I might get myself a nice massage too, my back is still in agony. A hot bath worked wonders last night, but back to square one today. The tops of my legs ache so much too, and baby is bouncing up and down in my pelvis.. Might start my RL tea now then... I thought it was 36 weeks? I suppose 2 weeks isn't going to make that much of a difference, esp as it's not a chemical thing.

Just been on FAcebook and I have a pregnancy count down on there. I have 43 days to go!!!! Wow, abit scary!

better get back to work am trying to track down my MA that should have started on the 9th May.... the buggers

JODIEhavingababy · 02/06/2008 12:20

Bebejones and squarah. crossed posts, glad you had a nice holiday Squarah and hope everything is OK with MW Bebe.....
