Just thought I would start a new thread! x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mummypig · 01/06/2008 12:56

libra1975 yes I was thinking of joining Thames Turbo! I already have a friend who trains with them.

oh really feel for you minipinkscottish, do you think an icepack might help?

hello mummy2bsoon, the hospital bag list on this thread is very useful even for those who have done it before... lots of things I would have forgotten about otherwise.

Swaddling is really useful for calming down the baby and letting it get to sleep without all that waving hands and arms about that some of them do. My ds1 was particularly good at this and swaddling really helped. But in the summer I can't see a need for a pram coat/suit. I have seen some poor babies really sweltering because their parents are worried about them getting cold. The general rule of thumb when they are small is to put whatever you would be wearing plus one extra layer. It always seemed to work with my boys.

isaidno · 01/06/2008 13:40

minipink - you could try a hot water bottle on your back if that still hurts; or the opposite remedy - ice pack / bag of frozen peas. Or a warm bath might help?

Libra1975 · 01/06/2008 14:21

For back pain I would second a hot water bottle and some paracetamol, not sure what else you could take at this stage anyway.

mini/libralady I also got the stabbing pains, they only lasted a day but wow were painful I wondered if I had some sort of UTI so just drank lots of water.

mummypig - the bacon sarnies they do after the Tris are fantastic Plus it's a nice flat course!

TJuice · 01/06/2008 14:41

hi chatty ladies and thanks for all your well wishes.

hope all is well with you.
yes, i am now a Mrs, which is weird but cool.

and so knackered . . .

but had such a fab time.
my parents, brother and girlfriend and dh's dad all arrived on thursday pm (only dh's dad staying with us). Friday morning i got up, had my make-up done at MAC, then got dressed and we all went to the gorgeous Copenhagen Town Hall. There were quite a few couples waiting to get married but you get called into this beautiful room and it still felt really special and nice (we had extra time because we did special vows to each other). I know my parents got emotional but i didn't look over because i knew it would start me off (and i had hormones to contend with too!). Then we had a nice lunch at some Terence Conran place, Custom House on the harbourside and the sun was really shining - it was a lush afternoon.

Yesterday we had the reception in our place with 40 people (and loads of kids) and it was fab. The food was lush (spicy chicken, marinated salmon, rice and peas, tender beef curry, luscious dahl, a huge display of mango salad and three different cakes including a traditional wedding cake from my mum) and looked beautiful and we had flowers and candles everywhere. My mum and dad were superstars, helping with the food, making rum punch, talking to all my friends - was so proud of them.
And I got lots of fab gifts which i wasn't expecting (because it was so casual and last-minute and my parents are still insisting on this blessing in jamaica next june).

So i am so glad that we didn't just sneak off and do it - it marked the occasion to get people together etc.

i didn't take many pics of course and haven't received other people's but i have one crappy one of me and Mr Juice on my profile. sadly i just couldn't hack my usual high-heels (pelvic bone is so sore) and had to wear gold flats sandals i am mahooosive now (37 weeks on thursday - can you believe it????? its mental)

Anyway, enough about me. hope you are all doing well.

gilly did you come to any conclusions on next steps for you both yet?

pigley - i so understand how you feel and know i would feel the same way. how is it being an auntie? in the end, its going to be cool having cousins so similar in age. don't mind your mum - they are all wind-up merchants (even my fab mum is soooo critical sometimes - i have to gently remind her)

minipink i also think hot baths are very good. i have totally overdone it running round this week and have properly been waddling recently. i take a hot bath, use heated beds and have this weird little acuball thing (rubber ball with spikes) that you roll up against, along a wall. also bought this wooden roll thing in the shape of a moose the other day! you know, one of those back massager things. hope it all calms down anyway.

libra !!! quite scary . . .hope you can keep it all under control for a few more weeks to benefit from most ML. take it easy if you can.

sk - how was the bbq? i put one together at my parents last year, then we incinerated the food that we were so eagerly awaiting!

talking of food, my dad brought some farmhouse cheddar - drool! so i will have some with some lush bread and picalilli . . .

hi to everyone else xx

Libra1975 · 01/06/2008 14:47

Aww you looked lovely, and I am so glad you had a fantastic day and reception as well. Plus you get a blessing in Jamaica next year, sure you will be back in high heels by then

Heffagooday · 01/06/2008 14:54

Libra1975 · 01/06/2008 16:30

  • looks slightly shocked *
isaidno · 01/06/2008 16:59

I'm due on 3rd July - so good chance it will be this month !!!

isaidno · 01/06/2008 16:59

You looked fab tjuice - congratulations xx

JODIEhavingababy · 01/06/2008 17:33

Wow Tjuice How amazing you both look! That dress is stunning, and the colours realy suit you! THe food sounds divine!!! Are your parents stcking around for a while to see babyjuice?

minipink You could be describing my last couple of days, I honstly thought I was going into labour this morning as my back is still in agony, and I had 'tightenings' of the abdomin (sp?) this moring on and off for a couple of hours.. (It was hard not to start getting excited ) but I took a paracetemol and it seems to have stopped now although it's been about 5 hours since I took my paracetemol and it's starting again! (Labour with DS started in the back too. I hope this doesn't mean this LO is OP?)

Anyway, I'm with the guys who are thinking '34 weeks? surely baby would be OK if I had him now? I was in tears last night as I got stuck on DS's bedroom floor and am sick of being an 'invalid' I'm usually so active, but even walking 5 minso the shop is such a ball ache now! DH isn't the most sympathetic person in the world and i even had to bargain with him today... he was allowed to stay in the pub for an hour after lunch(which turned into an hour and a half) if he took DS out for an hour when he got back! (which he's done, and the peace is bliss!

Sorry for the me post, but it's the first time that it's REALLY got to me and I feel rubbish and useless!

catec · 01/06/2008 18:07

Thanks for all your lovely welcomes

Congrats TJuice you looked beautiful.

Have just come back from visiting a 12 week old - Matilda - I want mine!! Oh well, not long to wait now.

Sorry to hear of everyone with all their aches and pains. I had really bad SPD at 4 months but luckily it went away completely after a few weeks so I can only imagine how awful it is this late in the pregnancy. Take a nice bath and take it easy!

Love Poppy as a name - I am definitely into flower names at the moment - love Iris too.

Have a lovely evening.

x

JODIEhavingababy · 01/06/2008 18:15

catec sorry I was so involved in me, I completely forgot to welcome you!!!! well welcome x

sweetkitty · 01/06/2008 19:11

Congratulations again Tjuice you look lovely not huge at all just weeks away from giving birth my dear. The food sounds divine I think you should have made up little doggy bags for us all.

Well after thinking about getting the pool up the heavens opened at about 2 and haven't stopped since oh I love this country sometimes.

Taken it really easy today had a lovely nap in the afternoon and DP has done most things I can really tell the difference as usually by this time of night I am struggling with walking but feel OK right now. I am planning a nice Lavender and Ylang Ylang bath later too.

Re: swaddling none of my two liked it at all they would ball their eyes out. You could use a vest and a light sheet to swaddle them in in this weather. DD1 wanted to sleep pn my tummy all the time (or DP's) and DD2 slept next to my boobs. As she got older I used to wake to find her helping herself in the night!

sweetkitty · 01/06/2008 19:16

Oh forgot to ask anyone else started on the RLT capsules yet? I started mine on Thursday, taking 3 a day just now will ramp it up to 6 probably about 37 weeks like the last two. Oh the burps are disgusting too.

Mummywannabe · 01/06/2008 19:30

Welcome catec!

Tjuice - you look fab and the description of your food made me so hungry, even though i just got back from a huge meal out!

Jodie - sorry your having a hard time.

Bump seems to have grown so much in the last few days, feel huge!

purplejennyrose · 01/06/2008 20:25

welcome catec!
congrats tjuice - lovely photo - you so do not look huge! sounds like such a lovely day.
mummy2b - you can swaddle in the summer with baby just in nappy if nec.we found it really helpful.
well, june now, and i'm hoping that i'll be one of the ones having a baby this month!as soon as i get back from holiday at 37 weeks - then she can come whenever she's ready!!

Heffagooday · 01/06/2008 20:54

SK - I've been drinking the tea because I quite like it. I know it's a bit early, but advice seems conflicting. No idea if it will help or not!

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time Jodie. I hope you enjoyed your hour of peace!

I can't believe we'll be having babies next month! It still feels like an age to wait for me, but time seems to be going fairly quickly.

pigleychez · 01/06/2008 22:22

mini/libralady- I too have had some shooting pains for a few days. Feel very deep "downstairs". A friend said she felt the same when babies head was engaging. Really takes your breath away.

Tjuice- You look fab!! Im so glad you had a great day!
Sounds like you and your family have had a lovely time MRS!

Libra- Def agree....aarrgghhh June already!

After a leisurely morning we went to visit my sister and new baby. Been years since ive seen a newborn and was shocked at how tiny she was. Had lots of hugs and cuddles and didnt want to give her back! Shes such a sweety. My sister is doing well and coping ok which is good.
Really strange feeling though, seeing Tiffany and thinking that theres a baby like that in my tummy! How!!?? Obviously i know how! but doesn seem possible- Very unreal!

DH was winding me up saying look at the size of her head--oouucchhh... MMM thanks for that!
DH has been soo sweet and its really made him look forward to our arrival.Ive added a couple of pics on my profile page if anyone wants to get broody!

isaidno · 02/06/2008 06:56

MINNIE1 · 02/06/2008 08:24

Morning all,

pigleychez
Looking at your neice I WANT MINE NOW, she is so cute...

Mrs Tjuice
Congrads on tieing the knot, you looked fab. So glad you had a wonderful day.

I managed slip and pull somthing in the neather regions yesterday an have brough on SPD worse than ever! Even sitting on the sofa last night i had a trobing pain!! SO glad the count down is on.

Hope the weather keeps up here today..

Kaz1967 · 02/06/2008 08:38

disneystar not sure there is an answer until LO arrives. I am used to it been waking every 2 hours for years from a chronic back problem, the physio I saw suggested 2 pillows between legs towel roll under tummy to support it and spare duvet to lie on. Being so low though not sure much of that will help, this little one feels like that sometimes normally when I walk though and the other day when they had hiccups thought someone was about to drop out most disconcerting.

gillythekid · 02/06/2008 09:03

Congratulations MrsTJuice!! You're a beautiful bride! The whole thing sounded lovely, like us, you're a foodie and so many weddings have really crap food with no love in it so well done on bringing it up to a fine standard, we did the same!!
Welcome Catec.
Big hugs to all those in pain, I wandered around the gardens of a stately home on Saturday, girdle and all, and paid dearly with a very uncomfortable sleep. Did my exercises like a good girl and last night wasn't too bad. Might have to bike to yoga tomorrow as the walk is a bit too much, should look quite hilarious!
Was hoping for a good seeing to when we started the perineal massage yesterday, neither of us found it particularly sexy but hoping it'll get more relaxing as we get the hang of it, does it for some apparently!!
DH and I are beginning to lay plans to move North by the end of the year. If we can get on a housing association list, the cheap rent will allow us to save for a house, so fingers crossed!
On our way to the IOW next weekend, think DH may have to wheel me round Osborne House though!

Peanut73 · 02/06/2008 09:05

Hello you gorgeous girls!

Too much has happened for me to comment on it all (just flicked through 18 pages!).

Congratulations Tjuice! You looked beautiful.

A couple of photos of wee Charlie here

It's all a bit surreal here. Kaz I think you probably know what we're going through since you worked in a NICU.

Wee Charlie is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and every day is so different. One day he is fine, the next day jaundiced and under the phototherapy lamps. One day he is off the IV drip, the next day he has a temperature and they are talking about doing a lumber puncture to rule out meningitis.

We feel so helpless and just want to hold him. The nurses are constantly pricking his heel and squeezing blood out for endless tests.

We feed him through a nasal gastric tube which goes through his nostril down into his tummy.

I feel like a cow as I have to express every three hours and bring him in the milk. So basically I haven't slept for more than three hours in a row since Wednesday 21 May, the day before my waters broke.

I hope you are all well. I just got up to express and now am going back to bed for a couple more hours before DH and I head into the hospital to sit next to Charlie's cot.

Love to you all.
xx
