Pigley Do you have a TKMaxx near you? They have some beautiful nightwear that was once expensive but is now cheap, like everything else in there!! I LOVE it and they have some really funky babywear and accessories if you're up to digging around through the chintz!

isaidno · 31/05/2008 10:45

pigley - peacocks for nighties?

re - feeling old - I am 34 and I'm not doing this pg lark again! It was much easier first time round when I was only 29!

sweetkitty · 31/05/2008 10:54

Morning all beautiful day here today DP has bought a new BBQ so guess what we will be having for lunch (if he gets it assembled that is). Went to bed at 10 last night was asleep at 10.10pm until 6.30 this morning when I had bad cramp.

Re nighties and stuff Primark didn't have much I bought some short PJs though and some mix and matches, got about 3 new pairs plus my old ones.

Apart from the pram which we will order in a week or two everything else pretty much done, will pack bag this weekend and get moses basket down from the loft but apart from that all the clothes etc are done now.

We are planning to go doon the water tomorrow (Saltcoats for Rumpel ) so taking it easy today.

sweetkitty · 31/05/2008 10:58

Re age I'm 33 in August, had my first baby at 29 and was much easier but then again didn't have 2 toddlers to runabout after. My body is creaking at the seams too, think it's telling me no more!

Heffagooday · 31/05/2008 11:23

SK - BBQ sounds great!

Re age - I'm 24 and I feel about 99 at the moment.

It's beautiful here too so I'm trying to make DH take me swimming somewhere so I can float around and feel graceful for a while (even I look like a whale).

MINNIE1 · 31/05/2008 13:49

MINNIE1 · 31/05/2008 13:51

Windows open in the car and it pissing out of the hevens!!

EEC · 31/05/2008 14:02

Walls painted and carpet down in baby's room so can finally start putting things in. Sooo excited - but still feel a little like I'm tempting fate!

minipinkscottish · 31/05/2008 16:49

Wow - what a beautiful day - hot and sunny!! I spent the last 2 hours sitting out on patio reading a book (well in between getting juice for dc's and rubbing sore knees and "watching this mummy") - but it was lovely. Have come in with dd as she was getting really grumpy with the heat.

Re BH - they seem to be constant one after the other - not too sore most of the time but uncomfortable! Have been really monitoring movements today as I think LO has really slowed down the last few days. I have next growth scan on Friday to see if she has gotten any bigger...I think she has! However, I may go to MW before then if movement don't pick up.....it's always a worry at this stage

Well done all you decorators and shoppers out there....nesting fever is upon us!

JODIEhavingababy · 31/05/2008 17:12

Just a quick post.. Minipink. I have been feeling exactly the same, infact I did call the midwife this morning! She told me to put my feet up (ha) have a cold drink and if nothing happens for 1/2 an hour call back. The thing is, he's moving, but not as much as he was 2 days ago.... Should be able to feel something 10 times a day they reckon...

RUMPEL · 31/05/2008 21:02

Evening All,

GORGEOUS roasting weather up here today -too hot for me - I could feel myself burning so sat under the washing in the shade
Filled up DDs pool - fist time she has been in it with water - usually full of balls- and she loved it. She was runninga round the garden in the buff - trying to potty train her whilst weather is good.

SWEETKITTY - have fun in Saltcoats Deep breaths and don't let any of them upset you - not worth it. Have you decided on a pram yet?

I am 36 next Month cannot believe it - where did the years go? I would be very happy if LO came in 3 weeks time (provising they were safe of course) - am so fed up now and really want my body back. I feel so unfit and lardy and frustrated.

I haven't been decorating as such but I have been painting a safai mural on the 'playroom' wall. So far I have done the grass, a sunset, some lions and lionessess and a wee cub, some elephants and painted the white part of the zebras. I still have the trees, monkeys, parrot, giraffes and water to do, and some smakes, butterflies, birds etc to fill it out. I need to do it when DD isn't around though as she tries to help - by drawing on the wall or 'painting' for me!

The plumber finished putting the shower in and the tiling but the thermostat isn't working - it is either roasting hot or freezing! Arrggg! Need to get him back to fix it as my parents and Aunt/Uncle are coming to visit on Wednesday.

I miss Matalan and TKMAxx from where I used to live. Once LO is out I will explore here a bit more and find some - I think there is some in Falkirk.

hope all you ladies (and HUBARB) are well and TWINKLE - how is your DHs finger doing?

Our pram is ready to be delivered (P+T) but we cannot get through on the phone - you are constantly on hold. DH has tried form work and I have tried about 14 times now Shocking customer service.

Night allxxxxx

catec · 31/05/2008 21:09

Hi All,

Hope you don't mind me joining in this late in the game. I have just discovered MN in my (endless) search for the perfect buggy etc, and have spend the last few days getting up to speed with what you have all been up to.

I'm due 25 July (so 32 weeks yesterday). Having little girl who we have named Daisy (CilC we love the name despite the cow thing!). People have only been positive about it (maybe because we presented it as a fait accompli rather than an idea) and she has been Daisy since our 20 week scan when we found out she was a girl.

She is our first.

Still have 4 weeks left at work unfortunately - need to make mat pay last as long as poss.

Can't believe how organised you all are, but makes sense when you see Peanut has had her little boy already! Congrats Peanut! Must start getting things ready. Just decided on buggy today so that's a start.

Sorry about the me me me but too much to catch up on with you all so thought I'd just do intro for starters.

Nice meeting you all!

RUMPEL · 31/05/2008 21:14

Welcome CATEC Daisy is a beautiful name - we have chosen Poppy for a girl and Calvin for a boy (although DH isn't convinced but too late now)!

pigleychez · 31/05/2008 21:33

Welcome to Catec. Lovely name too.

Envious of all you with Lovely weather. Been ok here... warm but overcast. Still managed to get some more baby washing on the line though.

Took the inlaws to the airport today for thier holiday. MIL spoke to bump and told it its not allowed to come whilst they are away.
Very envious as id love a holiday right now!

Off to see my baby niece tomorow. Cant wait for a cuddle... been years since ive held one this young. Get my sis to fill me in on all the gorey bits of labour!

Im 27 on 5th July which is exactly a week before due date. Dont really fancy being in labour on my birthday!

libralady · 31/05/2008 22:00

Well I'm 39 in October and am certainly more tired than I was first time around, although the pregnancy is far easier, but running around after a four year old as well as working full time is knackering.

Thought things were kicking off on Thursday night as I was in considerable pain every so often and couldn't get comfortable. So much so, when we went to bed, I'd taken 2 paracetamol and 2 codeine and then promptly packed mine and LO's bags ready. They are now in the car along with my notes and are going everywhere with me.

Was still getting the contractions yesterday at work and everyone looked shocked that I'd gone in. Problem is I don't want my ML starting any sooner than it has to as I'm only taking 12 weeks so want to spend as much time with LO once born and if you are off sick with pregnancy related problems 4 weeks before due date, they automatically start your ML. Couldn't bear to be sitting around twiddling my thumbs for 4 weeks, and only get 8 weeks with LO before going back to work.
Mind you if I win the lottery, that will be a different matter.

Pains have ceased for now, although every now and then I am getting a stabbing knife like pain down on my pubic bone. Just assuming it's LO engaging and moving down, although sometimes they don't half take my breath away. The other night I was stopped in mid sentence when talking to my DH.

Welcome to the recent newbies. Sorry about the me, me, me post but you'll find that we are really chatty and supportive to each other here and really appreciate what each other is going through.

Loved the links to the Youtube bits last night. Even DH thought they were funny.

Congrats on becoming an auntie pigley.

Have a lovely time meeting your niece tomorrow.

Kaz1967 · 01/06/2008 05:19

Don't mention BH ended up trying out the hospital in Boston today met the second doula at 11am walked to the pub had a long cold drink and a long chat and started getting backache thought it was just sitting as have long term back problem although it has been really good recently.Walking back wave after wave of BH making me feel quite sick sit down at Sues where I am staying normally hey would go away but they did not got her eldest to make me a sarnie and a drink as could not actually stand then managed to find a break in between them and laid down for a couple of hours made no difference they were coming every 15 mins and lasting 3mins so ended up ringing hossy and going in for 3hours for a trace of course they slowed down and stopped while there thank god,but glad I went in as had headache and pain under my ribs as well as really swollen feet so was a bit worried about pre-eclampsia so it was good to know BP and wee still ok.The think it's my flippin fibroids (again) they have given me 3 days of co-codamol(hossy strength) and ordered me to take them regually.

We were going to Derby today to see Sue's big bro who is over from the US but I don't feel like travelling and Sue does not want to risk taking me that far in the car or leaving me here alone so hoping we can get them to all come here.

Welcome catec sorry to just come on and have a big winge

disneystar · 01/06/2008 09:37

welcome catec i hope you are ok and enjoyed the weather yesterday
age issues im 40 and baby number 7 like i said before my DH took me away for a birthday suprise and i kinda got one i think
i changed the calender this morning i cant believe its next month now till these babies are due
gives me more hope when im so uncomfortable all day

isaidno · 01/06/2008 09:41

Rumpel - we have chosen Poppy Elizabeth as our baby's name! (haven't told anyone in RL though!)

Welcome Catec x

((hug)) to Kaz. I dream every night that my waters have broken but then nothing else happens. My labour has started with backache both times so whenever my back starts to hurt I slightly panic!

Pigley - my DS2 was born on my birthday. I was supposed to be having a lie in, but had backache so decided to get up and open my cards. Couldn't concentrate on the cards, because contractions strated at just after 8 am. DS2 was born at 11.11 am. So my birthday has been overshadowed ever since by his!

sweetkitty · 01/06/2008 10:30

Morning all lovely glorious day here was going to go to the beach but we decided against it this morning. DDs get really crabby in the car especially for over and hour each way. Also means we are out the house all day so evenings will be a rush with dinner/baths etc. DD1 has also said that long drives make her head hurt and she wants the pool up in the garden so thats what we will do instead. TBH quite happy as I can lounge about the garden now.

All these stories of decorating are making me and

Rumpel - where have you ordered your P&T from? I was thinking kiddicare have got loads from them before and their delivery is quite good, costs £370 for the whole kit which I thought was good.

catec - hello and welcome to our little thread, hope the pregnancy is going well for you

pigley - have a lovely day with your little neice it will be good practice!

libralady/kaz - ouch with the BHs sounds v painful for you both

isaidno - DP doesn't want DD3 to be born on his birthday, think he doesn't want to share the limelight but I think it would be really nice, my friend was born on her Dads birthday and has the feminine version of his name but I really don't Davina what you think?

Eek June thats scary chances are a few more of us are going to have babies this month, who will be next?

Heffagooday · 01/06/2008 10:33

Welcome Catec!

Beautiful sunny day yesterday so we went on to the moor to go swimming in a river. Very cold, but it was lovely and refreshing. Then the heavens just opened and we were caught in a really torrential downpour. We were trying to drive home but just had to park because we couldn't see out of the car because of the rain. And then it all cleared again and was beautiful. Very strange.

Hope you have fun seeing your new niece Pigley, it must be very exciting!

Libra1975 · 01/06/2008 10:48

Morning all.

Today I am really really hating hayfever.

Rumpel I am feeling exactly like you, as long as the baby is safe then I would like it to come out asap I am so sick of backache and breathlessness etc I can't believe this time last year I was doing the arundel triathlon. This is one of the reasons I love this place tho you can go phew I'm not the only one feeling like this!

Catec - welcome, pull up a birthing ball and brew yourself a cuppa raspberry leaf tea.

Pigleycez - I second Minnie1 recommendation about tesco, you can get psjs for a fiver and also dressing gowns plus pack of 5 knickers for £2.50. So all disposable after hospital if covered with blood and gore!

Kaz1967 - TAKE IT EASY!! What with uni and selling/buying places you are a one woman whirlwind.

Libralady - what do you do that you are only taking 12 weeks ML??

mummypig · 01/06/2008 11:34

hi everyone, and welcome to catec.

Well I can join in with everyone who's feeling fed up and just wanting the baby to come out pretty soon. Plus I have some sinus pains/headache which just wouldn't go last night so I didn't sleep very well.

Rumpel our boys have a jungle themed room too - but dp bought stickers so it was very easy to decorate . For the actual painting his sister took them out for a day, otherwise we just wouldn't have managed.

sorry to hear about your experience kaz

and also surprised that you're only getting 12 weeks mat leave libralady - I did that with ds1 but that was 6 years ago, and bloody hard too, and I was only working part-time at that point.

libra1975 I would love to do a triathlon . I really want to do one after this baby has grown a little - unless he has huge health problems or anything like that of course. I hope to focus on the swimming first, aiming to do the swimathon next March, and then join the local triathlon group, who do novice courses in the summer. I have had plantar fasciitis and knee problems in the past though so will have to find a good physio and make sure I look after myself.

mummy2bsoon · 01/06/2008 11:51

hiya!!!

i just need to know how many baby gros and vest i should pack for my hospital bag?

also what else shall i pack? muslin squares?

sorry im a first time mum...

what the opinion on swaddlign your baby, in the summer?

also, do u need to buy a pram coat, or a all in one suit?

im not sure, if im prepared..and im starting to panic

Libra1975 · 01/06/2008 12:00

Mumm2bsoon, if you look on the first page of this thread then there should be a useful hospital bag list.

As for pram/cot/all in one it's really dependent on you. We have bought a Maclaren XLR which is really just a pushchair but suitable from birth however you can't have the baby facing you.

Mummypig, triathlons are so much fun (well not during but afterwards!) and most triatheletes are very friendly. I am not sure where you are based but if you are near London then the Thames Turbo triathlons (4 times a year) are fantastic for beginners.

minipinkscottish · 01/06/2008 12:02

Morning all!

Argh..... in total agony today. Started with sore back yesterday but today can hardly move.
Movements are a little more today...this was really worrying me yesterday...also getting stabbing pains down belowliberlady - takes your breath away.

Can't believe it is June... I will be 40 on the 23rd....most of the time feel ok about this but today I could cry...I feel old and past it Only have paracetemal in house and miles from town what else can I try?

Sorry for moan!
Welcome catec
