Just thought I would start a new thread! x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EEC · 30/05/2008 10:35

SK - I know what you mean about childcare during labour. I'm burying my head in the sand about it a bit. My mum is happy to come (and luckily is absolutely lovely and helpful in all the right ways - but is 3 1/2 hours away, so would take minimum four hours to get here! Could well be too late as DD was only 5 hours from ist contraction. (DS 36 hours, but that's another story!)

We have only just moved here so have no friends I could ask. My DCs are older but at 10 and 12 not old enough to be by themselves. To be honest I am burying my head in the sand about it. I guess worse things could happen than going to hospital by myself. Many people do it I suppose. During the day they could probably go to a friends - but at night there's definitely noone...

EEC · 30/05/2008 10:36

burying my head twice apparently! Must really be an ostrich - or perhaps a push me pull you!

gillythekid · 30/05/2008 10:40

Ah thanks Minnie it's not so bad, if I do my prescribed exercises every day then I can last the 2 weeks between physio appointments without too much bother. Seeing my osteopath helped but he's miles away and I'm not into driving long distances alone at this stage.
Think it's best for us not to overdo it and try to be like we are when not pregnant! As I said, resetting the limits is difficult, you lot with other DC have my utmost respect, I would crumble!
Pigley I can guarantee you will be so smitten with your baby that you won't even notice what everyone else is thinking or doing! It's only natural for you to be a bit jealous, don't give yourself a hard time.

isaidno · 30/05/2008 11:43

Congrats Tjuice - I wonder if you're married yet!

Pigley; don't feel bad about your emotions re your niece. I remember when I was trying to get pg with DS1 there seemed to be loads of people accidentally getting pg and I felt it just wasn't fair and was jealous. It is true you and your sister will always be compared and so will your babies; but that's life! Everyone is different and I'm sure you and your sister will be great friends and companions through sharing motherhood so closely.

Heffagooday · 30/05/2008 11:53

Pigley - I think feeling like that is completely normal. I know it sounds awful but I'd feel the same if it was my sister. My sister did have the first grandchild (unsurprisingly since she's 12 years older than me) which I wouldn't mind except she keeps going on about how hers came first and how the at-school stage is much much better than the baby stage. I love her to bits but she is shockingly insensitive on occasions - I have to bite my tongue a lot.

I don't have much time to catch up on everything properly (off to see Indiana Jones!) but sorry to hear some people are having a rough time.

Good luck to the TJuices - hope you have an amazing day!

Just had a MW appointment, baby still head down and everything still looking good. She showed me around the ward again and said that DH would be allowed to sleep over while I'm there. Apparently my niece and nephews can't visit which I'm secretly relieved about. They're lovely but quite a handful and I was worrying about how they'd behave.

Mcchesers - congratulations on the maternity pay, that must be a relief!

Anyway, hope everyone has a good day, see you later

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 13:00

Sorry was just having a bad day yesterday. Went to Primark and bought some more PJs so now have 3 new pairs although the sizes looked a bit funny and I ended up with 8-10 do you think I am having a laugh? Just waiting for my bras to arrive and I will have everything for my hospital bag.

On my baby list I have pram, new cot mattress and sheets to get but the cot things not that essential.

DD3 has been bouncing her head off my bladder all morning keep getting these "I need to go to the toilet RIGHT now" feelings then going and a few drips.

Know what everyone means about slowing down though.

Right best be off am so hungry haven't had lunch yet (was doing Tesco order) and haven't done anything in the house yet as been out all morning.

MINNIE1 · 30/05/2008 15:35

Gilly
It's amazing what you can do when you have to..

Sweetkitty
Got my PJ's and knickers in primark today aswell, had a run around as lo's were all over the place and i ended up leaving the shop with 2 pairs of sun glasses that i did not pay for!! . But have bottoms and just bought new tops.. Also bought a liner for buggy so cant wait to get that.. I think i am down to baby bits at this stage..

pigleychez
Sorry you are feeling like that. Me and DS had babys close as in 9 days apart. that god there was never any friction. But i am sure once you LO arrives tey will be equaly proud. I really understand where your coming from..

pigleychez · 30/05/2008 15:55

quiet on here today.

Ive been really lazy today! Hardly done a thing.

feel really emotional today and have cried at various silly things. Good job im home alone!
Feel really tired too which doesnt help.

Think the nearer we all get the more we think about family.

Ikea have just rang to arange my new bedroom furiniture delivery 2 weeks time instead of the orginal 1.

Just noticed we have new smiley faces!

CilC · 30/05/2008 17:42

Hello everyone - I am all packed and ready to go on my holiday...DD is soooo excited, I do not think I have been the most exciting Mummy of late!
Good luck to everyone, I hope everything goes well for you all over the next few days. And to everyone in pain, please take care and relax.

pigleychez · 30/05/2008 18:23

Have a fab holiday Clic.

Relax and enjoy! Im sure the holiday will do you the world of good.

Heffagooday · 30/05/2008 18:37

Pigley - Ikea customer service seems pretty dreadful! Worth it when it arrives though

CilC - hope you have a fab holiday!

I felt awful in town today, bump was really painful and heavy. Nearly started crying walking along. Felt better for sitting down in the cinema though. Film (Indiana Jones) was OK but I was quite surprised by how many really little children were there.

JODIEhavingababy · 30/05/2008 20:45

Evening ladies

Gosh, it's taken me ages to catch up, you lot are chatter boxes, what's going to happen when we are ALL on maternity leave? But then, it will take us forever to fill athread once our babies arrive!

Congrats to Tjuice I'm assuming she'll be married now and enjoying a scrumtious dinner that she can tell us all about soon enough!

Congrats too to pigley and you sis.. baby pigley will be special in his/her own right too! Infact they grow so quickly, that I bet even your sister will be shocked at how little your baby is and will be jealous of you!

Can't remember anything else sorry.. just alot of grumbles about SPD! TEll me about it, although I don't think I've got SPD (my pelvis is uncomfortable only when babies head slips down there), it's Sciatica thats buggering me up good and proper, the pain shoots from my hip all the way to my ankle, and the worst thing is, it's OK when I'm walking about, it's afterwards I suffer, so I keep pushing myself too far thinking its OK, and it's so not!!!!! 6 weeks to go though!

sweetkitty · 30/05/2008 20:49

SPD being a right royal pain in the ass today too (literally) could hardly walk across the living room earlier had to sit down for an hour. DDs must think it's great that Mummy doesn't get up to check on them as much even though she doesn't play the physical games with them, just they wait until my pelvis is sturdy again they will be in for a shock, or will they? Will be confined to sofa BFing.

CliC - have a good holiday hope your body behaves itself.

RUMPEL · 30/05/2008 21:26

Evening All,

Hope you are having a fab time MRSTJUICE

SWEETKITTY - poor you re your family - if I lived closer I would look aftre them for you but I am too far away too I am positive that 1 of your friends would do it for you no matter hwat time though. After all that's what true friends do for each other.

TBH we have just thought that we will phone Db and SIL - about 1 hour away if my Mum isn't here then. Will take my MUm 4.5 hours to drive down but she is coming on the 16th July for a fortnight, so hopefully I'll go on the 16 th

I had bad SPD with DD and it took 6 months to go after the birth too. This time has been okay though - although not working so not on my feet all day.

KAZ - When I was in Thailand the tigers were really distressed and I complained but of course no one listened - was truly awful. Then in Singapore I went to the Bonsai park and there were all these poor tortoises in glass tanks - it was heartbreaking I actually contacted Born Free when I got home to see if they could do anything about it - but no Things like that haunt me - I love animals. I even put spiders outside. Must admit I do squish midegs though and I am TERRIFIED of wasps I did chemistry in 6th year the mole - confusing it is.

CILC - enjoy your hols - relax and I hope your ribs are getting better.

I thought the nicks in Primark were tiny - no use to me.

Re epidural - although you can't feel as such my Mum was a saviour and squeezed my hand when I had a contraction and helped me to breathe and push through with them - focus. It really helped.

My birth pool arrived today - need to get Dh to do a practice run so he know what he is doing. Hopefully we won't need it - the one in the hospital will be free - better to have a back up though.

DD's 'baby kit' arrived yesetrday - it is soo cute - she will be able to copy me with the new bubba. Just need to get her a baby for it now

Hardly any sleep last night again - although DD didn't waken until 5am I awoke at 2.30. Plumber was here all day so no chance to rest and ended up nearly losing it with DD tonight - had to put her to bed and go lie down as I felt I was going to lose my temper big time!!

Well night all take carexxxxxxx

RUMPEL · 30/05/2008 21:29

GILLY - keep meaning to say I think you should move too - we moved last year to be a bit nearer family - 4.5 hours to parents instead of 8 and 1 hour to DB instead of 2.5. It is a trek for DH to drive to work but it compensates in other ways. For those of us lucky enought to have good family you can't beat it and you can't get back that precious time once they have gone. Worth a drop in salary and you never know something even better might be waiting for you all career wise. Take the risk - it will be worth it

off to ikea today much to me DC delight i was greeted with

"OH NO NOT THERE "

mcchesers · 31/05/2008 09:00

Morning all..

So Pigley is an auntie, and Tjuice is a Mrs
and Cilc is on hols.

I could not imagine even attempting going on holiday..was hobbling through town like an old lady yesterday. Seriously painful towards the end of the night and I just felt like wailing.
I got all my shopping chores done, but could not find any nighties. Primark was mobbed and it was really hot. BH the whole time I was walking around thinkin..right any minute now my poor legs are gonna give. It's never been this bad before. Any ideas on what would help besides 6 weeks of waiting on the sofa?

sorry to be a moanaholic..just this is starting to scare me now.

Mummywannabe · 31/05/2008 09:01

Disney star - had strong braxon hicks last night too. Not prepared yet so little one will just have to wait. Nice sunny day here so going to finish baby washing.

Kaz1967 · 31/05/2008 09:31

disneystar Been getting BH for months that hurt Having seen myself in Friends mirror I will be surprised if I get passed 35 weeks either I am flippin enormous all out front mind I am still in pre pregnancy clothes other than my bra and one pair of trousers (that are actually still too big) I must have lost weight from somewhere to be this big and still in pre pregnancy clothes surely?

I think one of the problems is these flippin fibroids. I can actually feel one of my fibroids at the top it's the size of a orange and that is one of the smaller ones the bigger one is round the back lord knows how big that is and no wonder my tummy is enormous it was double the size of the orange sized one at 20 weeks

disneystar I'm 41 this year but think a large part of my problem is I was unwell for 2+ years before so very very unfit.

pigleychez · 31/05/2008 09:31

morning all

disney star- enjoy Ikea

Know what you mean about coming early. I have always thought this LO would be early- no reason why though.

Whilst awake at 3 this morning, i was convinced that baby was coming in the next few weeks. Then started panicing... I havent packed my bag yet, our bedroom isnt finished and the furniture isnt here for 2 weeks yet, the nusrery is full of our clothes, plus IM not ready yet!

Dh had words with baby this morning saying it has to wait till untill the bedroom finished first.. so hope it listens.

mcchessers-My primark seems to have swapped all its nightwear for the bikinis! Not very helpful as i really to get some soon... Anyone think of anywhere else i can get some cheapies?

Kaz1967 · 31/05/2008 09:32

pigleychez H&M? Matalan?
