Just thought I would start a new thread! x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Heffagooday · 28/05/2008 20:06

CilC - I'm sure we'd all be supportive on this thread of discussing names if you want. I wouldn't ever dare post on the baby names forum though, people seem to get ripped to shreds on there

EEC - poor you with a cold! I hated having a cough during pregnancy, I couldn't find anything to relieve it I'm afraid (other than drinking lots of water). Hope you feel better soon.

Sleepycat - congratulations on the normal birth! That must be a relief

Kaz1967 · 28/05/2008 20:18

Heffagooday I love Keziah too (not point in changing it otherwise is there ) it was my maternal great great great grandmothers name. My first daughter was Olga after my gran Mum is Jane and sorry Mum or anyone whose name it is that is too plain an common. Nan was Violet and not keen on that her Mum was Julia and again that is nice but common I just wan something for a girl which is unique and Keziah Keiko with my surname forms a rather nice alliteration.

Alfred is not only a family name (was grans dads name) it is the name of my best friends dad's name he died about the time I must have conceived Sue knows if this LO i a boy it will have her Dads name and is overwhelmed but she is more like a sister than a friend and it just seems right. George was Grandads fathers name I am no marred so they will have My Dads surname although not sure he is that worried.

Keziah will probably get shortened to Kezzy which I like too and Alfred will probably get shortened to Alf or Alfy

JODIEhavingababy not sure I am at all brainy mad certainly but I do actually love learning. I was told so much at school I was stupid esp in relation to English now I want to prove them ALL wrong and I am going to get this bloody degree and show the lot of them just how wrong they were

EEC have a chat with your pharmacist/midwife/GP there may be something being this far on in pregnancy the problems relating to developing problems such as those we think of from thalidomide are long gone LO is fully formed and just growing. Those relating to codeine (which is in many cough products) are not going to be a problem in short term use.

[wails] I can't keep up!!
Gilly - we are going on holiday for a week from 36-37 weeks! To Pembrokeshire, where one of my best friends and her family live - she had her 2nd dd there (Cardigan) and said it was lovely!! Midwife had to remind me to take my notes and hospital things though!
My birth plan is currently a little odd, as I am still on first choice of home water birth (appeals more and more) and 2nd choice if not very mobile and in tons of pain of elective c-section(appeals on a bad pain day)!No idea till I see midwife whether either is an option!
I did write a birth plan first time - can't remember even thinking about it - just went with my body and trusted my midwife (I was lucky enough to get my community midwife for the actual birth).
TJuice - I've seen the Rikki Lake docu - I downloaded it from google player for free from a link on a MN thread. It was good - bit depressing, quite shocking re the treatment of labouring women, and had some extremely moving birth footage. At which I cried like a baby.
I have the strangest feeling I've written all of the above before, so apologies if I'm just repeating myself!!

JODIEhavingababy · 28/05/2008 20:43

Kaz, those names are lovely I still think your having an Alfred!

Our shortlist is James (Jamie) and Miles, but we've not told anyone what we are thinking coz everyone turns their nose up at Miles, I'll just wait and see what he looks like when he pops out!

When I went to see my MW she told me that babies head was engaged, but could pop in and out, but it's still there!

I haven't started with the Raspberry tea yet, I though we couldn't until 36 weeks, any one know any different?

JODIEhavingababy · 28/05/2008 20:47

Oh yeah meant to say, we're going to Bath for the weekend when I'm nearly 37 weeks, my theory being that where I want to deliver (the Midwife Led Centre) won;t take me until 37 weeks, so a hospital in Burton or a hospital in Bath, makes no odds! I just need to research the hospital in Bath Just In Case!

sweetkitty · 28/05/2008 20:56

This thread moves so fast, just been and ordered my feeding bras I for 2 from figleaves.com (with 20% discount and free delivery thanks MN), got a nice white one and a plain sleeping one which looks nice and stretchy they don't do a cup size just a back size. I think 2 will do until I get a bit more sussed about size although in saying that I remember waking up a few time sin the night with bras and tops soaked through to the sheets.

gilly - love the names

beepbeep (and anyone else who has a new P&T) what do you think of them really? I'm wavering again? Theres 18 months between my two and IME it's a great gap there was no jealously from DD1 it's as if she just accepted DD2 was there and that was it.

disneystar - sorry to hear you are feeling so rough, I know what you mean about losing patience with your DC, DP came in and sent me upstairs for a long shower tonight.

heffagoodday - nice name change I think Keziah is lovely too (wouldn't it be boring though is we all had the same taste and there were for eg 20 Sophies and 20 Thomas' on out post natal thread)?

CliC - I am also sure people wouldn't be nasty about your name choices on here either you should know us by now we're a nice bunch

Jodie - last time we went to Ikea I came out with a toilet seat and some straws I kid you not, what are you lot buying I couldn't see anything (maybe it's because I'm on number 3 and don't actually need a lot).

EEC - hello again you have my sympathies re the cough I had a terrible one and it's not nice when you are pregnant, apparently the only thing you can take is a simple honey and lemon linctus or maybe make your own honey and lemon drinks. I just drank loads of hot drinks.

sleepycat - good news about your scan

purple jenny - hello again to you too

pigleychez · 28/05/2008 20:57

Sleepycat- brilliant news about the placenta moving!

Jodie- Funny you should mention my sister! She was due on Monday but literally just put the phone down to my mum who said shes currently puffing on gas and air and is 6cm dilated! Looks like im going to be an auntie very soon!!

Just returned from Ikea and choosen what we want but going to order it online as theres no way it would fit in our little car.
Really struggled walking round.. usually im not too bad but that was definately a struggle.

I think i may have pulled a muscle or something as my left hand side was agony walking round. Serves me right painting a whole room on my own.

sweetkitty · 28/05/2008 20:59

oh pigley how exciting is that won't be long until your an auntie

JODIEhavingababy · 28/05/2008 21:14

Oh Pigley, how exciting! Keep us posted!

CilC · 28/05/2008 21:44

OK name dilema... DH and I agree on only one name - Thomas. I do like it and DD for some reason (as she did not know this was a name on our list)has always referred to LO as Tommy Zoom (from her favourite tv show). The problem with Tom is that DD's name is Tabitha and I am wondering if it is all too Beatrix Potter and cattish (sic). Tom cat and Tabby cat...
I have other names I also like and the only other name we both sort of agree on is Rafferty.
It took us weeks to agree on DD's name - and in the end we did not really agree we finally selected it by writing all the names on little pieces of paper and then scrunching them up and throwing them in the air. The name that landed closest to her was Tabitha!
So...what to choose? Thought I might wait until I see him and it might be more clear.

isaidno · 28/05/2008 21:46

sleepycat - great news that your placenta has moved!

names - we have a name chosen, but it's a secret because you can always rely on someone making a face or saying "oh, I had a dog / hamster / pet tarantula called that." Once the name is given to the baby people just have to smile politely whether they like it or not.

I had to go for yet another blood test today, because they still think I might be anaemic. Baby feels really heavy in my pelvis and I'm generally moany and uncomfortable. At least the end is in sight - I'm 35 weeks tomorow.

pigleychez · 28/05/2008 22:36

nothing to update you with yet ladies. Im hearing everything 3rd hand. Sisters BF calls mum then mum calls me.

Just ordered all our Ikea bedroom furniture, which they reckon is due to be delivered in about a week... so now its a race to what will come first bed or furniture!

But DH has just forbidden me to touch ANYTHING! I went to the loo and accidently managed to pull the toilet roll holder off the wall!
Im a disater zone!

Really really uncomfortable tonight. I really think i have done some damage on my left side as just going upstairs was agony! Not too bad when siting still but general movement hurts!!
Seeing the midwife tomorrow anyway so see what she says.

Clic- Thomas is on our list too. Think we have our boys name sorted so Thomas has been saved for number 2 ( Hark at me!)

yawn

where are you when i need you tjuice?

mcchesers · 29/05/2008 06:57

Damn you esophageal sphincter!! This is the third time I have been up all night with coughing after acid reflux. Grrrr!! Well the weather out here is crap with a high chance of it warming up towards Saturday.

Good Lord Pigley. I think we don't know our own strength sometimes. I find myself doing really stupid things like leaning over the back of the tumble drier to fetch runaway toilet rolls thinking..this probably is not such a good idea. Almost an auntie..very exciting!

Sleepycat I am addicted to ice, in fact would go so far as to say I was a connoisseur of ice. Subway being my personal fav followed second by the kind you buy in a bag. I think its more a sign of pica..could be stress more than anemia. Make sure to have orange juice with your ice. It can help with your body's absorption of iron.

We went through pain relief in my antenatal course last night. Anyone have any favourites?

isaidno · 29/05/2008 06:58

sleepycat - yes - i have been cruncing ice this week! I keep putting cubes in my drink and enjoying the ice more than the drink! I am a bit tired, but I have a 3 and 4 yo so don't think I'm extra tired.

isaidno · 29/05/2008 07:02

mcchesers - I would recommend trying a tens machine. Make sure you put it on early and it has fresh batteries. You might not use it for your entire labour but it can be a helpful start, especially if you are taking your time! Obv you can use it at home so you might not feel the need to go to hospital so early to get at the gas and air (which incidentally I hate - just makes me feel sick and dizzy.)

disneystar · 29/05/2008 07:29

sleepycat and isaidno i am anaemic and its not nice my last blood results came back at 6.3 which apparantly is low
guess that explains the tiredness but its really the shortness of breath that gets me down
plus this little stubborn man is breech
im on iron injections now and i have to hav e a disucssion on the 16th june about a possible transfusion during the section
this has to be my most difficult pregnancy so far and its def my last im way to old now he sneaked in at the last hurdle for me
CLIC yes im going to mention my worry of early labour on monday i guess its the fact the babys head is all fused its going to be to traumatic trying to push him out
i know im having a baby with disabilities i just try to focus on the baby first then deal with the rest later
have i missed a post ?
has anyone heard how twinkle is please?

pigleychez · 29/05/2008 07:54

Hi all,

Been dozing on and off since 3am. If im going to wake during the night you can guarantee it will be at 3am!
Usually get back off to sleep reasonably quickly but really struggled last night- Combination of pulled muscle killing and thinking about my sister.

Well still havent heard anything from my sister. About 8pm last night she was 6cm then heard at midnight that midwifes reckon another 3/4 hours but thats the last we have heard, so im guessing shes still pushing!

Ive been told im Anemic too. Havent seen the midwife since being told this by the doctor. Not been overly tired, but agree with disneystar on the shortness of breath.I think mine was about 6.3 too. See what the midwife says today when i see her.
My side hurts so much and i know shes going to moan at me for overdoing it.- learnt my lesson now though.

sweetkitty · 29/05/2008 07:59

mcchesers - I am with you on the dreaded acid reflux, it's v painful too, I have been drinking loads of milk (which I hate but making it nicer with banana Nesquik which I don't let the girls have as it's full of sugar but I have ) On the pain relief front I have only ever had G&A so don't know about any of the others. Really don't fancy pethidine as it makes the baby v sleepy to start with and hard to feed and BFing is hard enough at the start nevermind with a sleepy baby (I should know).

disney - are you taking iron tablets 6.3 is really low and thats not good for you. It will all be worth it though when you get your little fighter in your arms as you know. Can you not take a pregnancy multivit?

pigley - hope your an auntie now

sweetkitty · 29/05/2008 08:00

whoops x post with pigley hope you hear something soon.

MINNIE1 · 29/05/2008 08:20

Trying to catch up and i just cant remember what i have just read! will have to take notes at this rate!..

All well here nice and sunny out, windows need washing so thats me for the day and need to clean out car! Should be fun with 2 lo's
6 weeks left today agghhh cant wait...

CilC · 29/05/2008 09:02

disney I did not realise your LO had a fused head, which I must admit I do not understand. I am so sorry to hear that and also sorry if I have missed a post somewhere along the way.

I think our brain's go quite fuggy when we are pregnant but they also compartmentalise everything for us.

  1. Must get through first 3 months (can think of nothing else)
  2. Must survive pregnancy
  3. Delivery/birth

TBH when pregnant with DD I never thought of after her birth... it must be a survival thing!!

The rib thing has really taken what tiny little bit of fitness I had still hanging in there...am concerned how I will cope once LO arrives. I am soooo puffed just getting up off the chair. I too have vomitting and nausea back which is killing me as I am such a big heaver...as to the SPD, I now have sticks and DH is picking up a wheelchair today. This is it, my last ever pregnancy!

I do hope the peanut family is ok.

Love to everyone!

EEC · 29/05/2008 09:49

ButterflyMcQueen - I could have joined you at 4:30 but computer is in spare room which is where DH now sleeps! I can't say I sleep better without him, but hopefully he sleeps better without me coughing, groaning, and 5 loo trips a night1 I have to resort to reading instead.

CilC - Hang in there. Not so very long now!

Baby still breech - I know there's still time for it to turn (33 +5), and even if it doesn't it's not drastic, but am starting to worry about a possible cesaerian. Not so much the recovery but the actual operation - being cut open while awake! Some reassurance please from those who have experienced it!
