disneystar yep 6.3 is low how on earth are you managing to walk around hun 11 is the lowest norm in pregnancy 10.5 is as low as they let you go without taking some action normally.

If his head is fused then there is no way they can expect you to have a vaginal delivery surely? the reason babies heads are not fused is to enable delivery if he continued to be breach that is another reason for it to continue to be a section, most doctors and midwives prefer sections for breach deliveries these days use that fact. Add that to your severe anaemia you just are not going to have the energy or the puff to push. Cant be anyway they expect you to labour.

Names - we just say yes we know and no we aren't telling anyone. End of story. However I keep thinking we have chosen George as a middle name for a boy when we defintely haven't. Not sure what's going on with my brain! Its a great name. Not sure who mentioned it but think Miles is a great name.

Gilly - think a weekend away will be fab, just make sure you don't try and cram to much in and relax.

CilC - best white chocolate mud cake recipe ever - any chance you can post this in recipies?

sleepycat - great news about placenta and very jealous about scan!

Pigley - Take it easy today! Also don't get too excited about IKEA delivery they said a week to us to start with and that turned into two weeks!

EEC - I am sure the MWs don't start to worry until 36 weeks, I am 33+2 and my LO wiggles all over the place still transverse being a favourite.

Ikea, I am not actually going myself, just sending DH and FiL, it's much better all round that way as they only get what we actually need rather than what I see on the shop floor
Ended up having a very bad day yesterday, if I was a 5 year old you may have called me fractious, I was just so uncomfortable and tired and the baby wouldn't stop moving (seriously all day!), the baby is also tired of the old sit on the bladder trick and now has found a nerve to compress which sends shooting pains down the inside of my thighs.
However we had our second hypnobirthing class last night and did a lovely relaxation exercise at the end, slept better than
I have been doing and feel very de-stressed today. Wonder how long it will last

I just can't believe how much chatter there has been between 5pn last night and now, must try and keep up more!

EEC my lo is still breech first one ive had it with as well
clic has been very helpful to me on the c-section side of things this is my first one as well as its an elective
someone asked me sorry cant remember who if i was on iron tablets yes been on ferrous sulphate for ages they are disgusting
clic fused bone breifly mean usually when our babies are born there heads are all supple and the bones are not joined to allow for the brian to grow they fused many years years later
sadly mine has done it already i knew the risk as we carry a genetic gene i was tested for this early on in pregnancy but at 24 weeks i was told my baby had it to
he is facing many operations first one is 8 hours long when he is born he will be facialy disfugured i dont realy think beyond this as my ultimate goal is to have him a.s.a.p the longer hes there the worse he gets
its one gene away from DS so the heart problems run concurrent with the condition
we decided at 24 weeks to give him a chance hes still here kicking away, just im so anxious now
to me hes just my baby i dont care what he looks like looks are just superficial i just cant wait to cuddle him like anyone else
but actually giving birth would be hard
1 baby in 300,000 have this a year so dont anyone worry about this
odds are very rare indeed i have a fantastic consultant whos very undertanding

As for me still here with crossed legs im 31 weeks today so if i could manage another 4 i would be really happy.Im at the consultant next Friday and im having another scan so we will see what he says???? Im still getting irregular contractions especially when i laugh or walk a lot.I still have builders but at least the extension should be done if the babies can hang on for 4 weeks.Well i should go as the kids are bored!!!!!! at least the weather is nice today so they can go outside

Heffagooday · 29/05/2008 11:04

Pigley - good luck to your sister! Have you had any news yet? It's so lovely that you'll have cousins around the same age. My niece is 8 but she's thrilled that there's a baby girl on the way for her to boss around play with.

Disney - sorry to hear about your situation, I had no idea.

Names - everyone's names sound lovely!

My iron levels are lowish (around 10.3) but I've been taking Spatone in orange juice, and have started on folic acid again so hopefully it will be fine. I have iron tablets prescribed but since I feel great (well, as great as we can at this stage!) I don't want to have the side effects for little gain. If I find out that the Spatone isn't working then I'll try taking them then.

Rumpel - I finally got some essential oils (lavender, ylang ylang and marjoram) that you recommended and had a bath last night. Had the best night's sleep in ages!

Gosh you lot talk alot. Waiting for my moses basket to arrive, was given one but it had mattress and padding missing and as it was an extra large one we had trouble getting replacements. Had some john lewis vouchers left from wedding so brought one.

Washed all my baby blankets today but looks like it might rain, bugger!

Feeling better today, sorry for poor me post yesterday.

Re: ice craving, have this too. Brought some ice lolly making moulds so make fresh orange lollies every day!

Isaidno - was told by midwife that epidural was a no no because of low platelets, have you been told this? Seeing consultant on tuesday so will ask him. Didn't want one anyway unless as a last resort but now the choice has been taken away i'm starting to panic!

MINNIE1 · 29/05/2008 12:07

Re: Iron mine does be low and i found tablets in Spain that work for me as i cannot take any other.. Mine was 11.? last time i checked that was a good few week ago. So must check again on Tues with nurse..

CilC · 29/05/2008 12:18

Thanks EEC!

Oh Tjuice is getting married tomorrow - I too thought it was a week away! Wow talk about all at once! TJuice if you get the chance to pop in - best of luck and have a fabbbbbbulous day!
Libra will definitely post recipe - have you guys noticed I am on here too much! Not sure what else to do? Can not walk and so do not want to get into the TV addiction thing. Have been knitting and crotcheting like mad (does anyone need anything??? LOL) but I do not seem to have the attention span to read...
disney if you have any more questions about c-sections I am happy to help/offer suggestions. Good luck!

Right... now what can I do? You know in 8 weeks time I am going to be saying - oh I wish I could do nothing... LOL

ButterflyMcQueen · 29/05/2008 12:25

just a quick check in as carpet fitter just arrived- if my iron levels were 6 something i would be nearly dead!!! At 10 something i feel rough as sin

Heffagooday · 29/05/2008 12:37

TJuice - good luck for tomorrow! I hope you have an amazing day

Mummywannabe - I've just washed a whole load of baby things too but it does look like rain!

CilC - I know what you mean about being on MN too much and I don't even have the good excuses that you do! I have been playing computer games which is great but I get a bit over-emotional. I played Civilisation 4 the other day and started crying when another nation declared war on me. How are you feeling at the moment?

JODIEhavingababy · 29/05/2008 13:02

Morning all.

Just having a quick break from putting stuff on E-bay... It's such a ball ache!

Anyway at some of your iron levels, I felt rubbish and my levels were 11.3 at last check! (But my Folic acid levels were very low then, so maybe that had something to do with it!}

Tjuice Good luck for tomorrow, I can't wait to see piccies! You'll look fabulous! and I bet you cry!

Peanut hope everything is going well with you and your family.

Twinkle Glad the Twinklets are hanging on!

Pigley How's sis?

I'm shattered today, DS had a crap night last night, I think it had something to do with FIL giving him about 20 grapes yesterday! He had tummy ache! He's been at nursery today so I've finished the painting, and framed all his pictures and hung them (my dad's an artist and has done DS some lovely pictures for his room, with a Little Red Car theme!)

Anyway more e-baying for me.

CilC · 29/05/2008 13:21

Thanks for asking Heffagooday . I am ok I suppose...consdering... feel so useless, I think that is the worst thing, even worse than the pain. So much I wish I could do.
A friend has just put me onto scrabble on the internet, at least I feel like I am using my brain... but so wish I could do something more constructive.
I just can not watch the news or read the paper lately...I just keep crying. DH was late back from homebase the other day and I went through every emotion...I was convinced he was in a car accident.
I suppose I could have done with an extra bit of sensitivity when I was younger...but now I have way too much!
I think the good thing about MN is that you have fellow mum/'s to be...who are all going through the same thing, kind of reassuring really!
Anyway have a good game Heffa, my DH is an IT Nerd so I will ask him about Civilisation. He just bought home the latest xbox (for me of course!!!!) and I have been playing children games, but basically I suck at them! My DD who is 3 beats me!

gillythekid · 29/05/2008 13:25

Sorry to hear of everyones health issues, hope you can all plan for whatever birth mode is necessary under the conditions. I don't know about my HB yet, think I'm measuring REALLY big!
Well DH and I had a BIG talk about the future last night and I find myself with such a huge dilemma and didn't get much sleep. Hope you don't mind me asking for opinions.
DH and I moved into our lovely rented 1 bed flat almost 5 years ago, lovely neighbours, quiet, leafy street, park across the road etc. DH has worked freelance until he was offered a permanent job last year, really secure, forward thinking company with a fantastic salary+perks. I lost my job on the Cutty Sark 8 weeks before our wedding and was pregnant and felt rotten for first 4 months so found myself with no job or maternity benefits.
We can live comfortably on DH's wage but come the end of the year when the tenancy expires, we'll have to find somewhere else to live. The jump in rent will be enormous, not to mention the compromise on the areas we can afford to live! I have no real support network down here as my family are all up north. I have always felt a little isolated in London as I rarely get to work with like minded people (construction industry!) My MIL is fantastic but works full time and has a mother with dementia in a home close to her.
We always said we didn't want to raise children here as there's no prospect of being able to afford to save to buy buy a house or pay for childcare.
Upshot is, do we cut our losses and go sooner rather than later? I think we know it has to be sooner but I feel so much guilt at dragging DH away from such a wonderful job which is ony a 15 min bike ride away and where he's so highly valued.
How do I stop feeling so guilty? Sorry for ENORMOUS post
(yawn)

RUMPEL · 29/05/2008 14:25

Good grief - taken me aeons to catch up

Hi to everyone - hope you are all soldiering on ok.

Gilly - LOL at your birth plan - I wish!

MINNIE - ta for the advice re DD. She awoke at 3am last night but I had horrendous insomnia - ending up getting up at 4am and we had toast and tea and watced Britain's got talent - then went back to bed at 6am.

My Dr called yesetrday _ i am aneamic too was quite as I though I was ok but that would explain the breathlessness and overwhelming tiredness. Strated on iron tabs and spatone too.

Had a lovely day yestaerday - dropped DD off at nursery then went into town. Got my Botts changing bag and a whole load of Little Me stuff reduced to £1.50. Got a waterproof mattress protector - reduced too. A top for post pg, a wee bag for DD, shoes for DD (she has really broad feet like me - size 5/6H!)Woamn in Clark's was
Went for a mocha, bacon roll and empire biccie and chatted to this elderly lady who was lovely, then I decided to get my hair done. It's not been cut for nearly a year! Was nice to chat to some adults They gave me wee samples for my hospital bag which was kind.

Awaiting plumber still - 2 have let us down so far This 1 won't let us down but he is very busy and my belly is now meeting the shower door.
My weight has stabilised now too - 2 stone weight gain. Same weight I was when I had DD.

TJUICE - have a wonderful day tomorrow!ENJOY!

TWINKLE - glad you and babies are ok.

KAZ - OMG applied maths!!! That will be fun when you have a wee one. What do you want to work as when you qualify?

Must go awake DD as she has been sleeping too long now.

PEANUT - hope all is well - cuddles for LO.

Heffagooday · 29/05/2008 14:31

CilC - glad you're OK, it must be really tough. I'm quite into gaming but I'm not terribly good so I only like quite gentle strategy/roleplaying games. I'll have a think about good Xbox games. The Sims 2 game is quite good and utterly addictive too.

Gilly - I don't know what to say really. From what you've said, it sounds like moving sooner rather than later is a good idea. I'm guessing you're moving too far away for him to commute? We decided not to move to a big city after graduating (all our friends did) because we wanted to be down here with our families. We've never regretted it. DH earns less than he could if we were elsewhere in the country, but then his job is less stressful because there is a more relaxed work ethic. I do sometimes see my friends and think 'Wow, they have such amazing jobs' but there are so many other benefits that it's never bothered me unduly. Anyway, that's just us but I thought it might help

gillythekid · 29/05/2008 14:33

Sorry, didn't make that clear! Would be moving back up North to be near my family and friends.

EEC · 29/05/2008 14:39

Gilly, whatt a difficult decision. Would you be thinking of moving back to near your family? How about DH looking around for work elsewhere and seeing what is available. It doesn't mean he has to take it, but no harm in looking. There may be something great to move to. Moving without a job to go to could be a little scary! It's good you're thinking about it now.

EEC · 29/05/2008 14:40

cross post!

gillythekid · 29/05/2008 14:44

Heffa I agree, more money doesn't make you happier and it's all relative really. DH would take a huge wage cut but the rent isn't so bad up there and I'll have greater support etc when it comes to going back to work. I'd mean we can save for a house and get LO's name down for school etc which we don't want to do in London. Aaagghhh. I know that the decision is sort of made but poor DH, just as he was feeling a renewed enthusiasm for an industry in which he's worked for so many years, we have to go and uproot! Thanks for your input, I really do value other perspectives, especially when I'm being a typical Libran and trying to weigh it all up!

pigleychez · 29/05/2008 14:50

Havent had chance to catch up yet.

Spent the morning at my friends house playing with her 1 yr old.
She gave me a load of baby girl clothes so now i have all our neuteral clothes plus a bag of blue and a bag of pink, so covered either way!

Heard about 11 his morning that im now an Aunty!

My neice Tiffany was born at 9.28 this morning weighing 7.4lbs [grin[

Sister had an epidural after pushing for hours! and needed forceps to help baby out but they are both fine.
Looks like they are going to keep her in for a few days.
Seems when they broke her waters they caught her bladder so want to carefully watch her for infection.

Sis BF said hes never heard her swear so much!

Hes a very proud daddy! Hopefully have some pics to post later.

isaidno · 29/05/2008 15:04

Congrats to your sis pigley!

Mummywannabe - I have never heard that you can't have an epidural with low platelets.

isaidno · 29/05/2008 15:08

just googled epidurals and platelets and it seems if the count is less than 100 they won't give you one because more likely to bleed where they put the needle. My last count was 132. Normal is 150 or more.

gillythekid · 29/05/2008 15:10

Congrats Pigley hope sis and baba are doing well.

Heffagooday · 29/05/2008 15:22

Congratulations Pigley! I hope your sis and the baby are doing well

Gilly - it does sound like the decision is already made. Hopefully your DH be able to find a similarly fab job up North.
