Hi All,

PEANUT - congrats - a tear to my eyes! Like everyone says a great weight for a premmie. Charlie is nice - cute. Well done you although it must be rough not having him home. How are you feeling in yourself? Congrats to Luke too.

Welocme JUSTJULES Have you got factor 5 (hence the aspirin)? Glad to hear all is well this time and you are expecting a beautiful girl.

CUPCAKE - a MROP (manual removal of placenta) is a trip to theatre (usually they top up your epidural or give you one for it) and they hoist your legs into stirrups and the consultant sticks their arm up you and hauls out the placenta whilst pressing on your tum You don't feel it and it means you don't bleed much after delivery - so there is a bright side Just a bit at being in theatre with so many folk around you. Still it also means they can stitch you up at the same time Only downside is you can't really move for a while 'cos of the epidural.

HUBARB - do you know what you are expecting? Give our love to your wifiexxx

SWEETKITTY - best to use oils like roman chamomile and lavender whilst pg as they are low toxicity. Roam chamomile is very expensive though. You could try putting lemonbalm leaves in your bath with some oatmeal and milk - good for relaxing and good for your skin. Also sea salt with some dried herbs/leaves/flowers in is nice. Rose petals, lavender, calendula (marigolds), pansies etc.

DISNEY - hope you are well.

POLEDRA - hope you are feeling birghter too and DH is doing your head in

CILC - sending speedy rib healing vibes - must be agony

TWINKLE - any news?

KAZ - how did your exams go? How is the house moving etc?

DH off today as DD had us up half the night again - I was so knackered though that I didn't hear her after 2am so he had to get up to her! Must have been snoring my head off as I awoke at 5am with a mouth like an Arab's sandal We had a nice lunch together - Italian and rich choccy pudding [yum]. Well DD has gone quiet - I think she may have fallen asleep on the floor in front of Cbeebie so must go.

Take care allxxx

RUMPEL · 26/05/2008 17:31

POLEDRA - NOT doing your head in!

CilC · 26/05/2008 17:32

Congratulations to the Peanut family...what wonderful fantastic news! Wow! Oh I think after what you have been through you deserve to name hm how you want! (Hormones definitely haywire...tears are forming!)

Welcome Jules! I so totally understand how you must be feeling...when I had my DD almost four years ago I never told anyone I was pregnant until we reached 7 months (after 7 years and many loses). I have been where you are and trust me it is all soooo worth it. I recall the agonising waits for something to go wrong but I also will never ever forget the amazing relief, love and joy I felt after my DD was finally born.

I too lurked around before coming onto this thread because I was worried I might get excited and everything would seem real and then go pear shape.

I don't do pregnancy very well and struggle to get pregnant and keep babies (and somehow manage to break ribs??!!) but when my LO is finally born it once again will be worth it. Congratulations on your courage and determination not to ever give up!

Well I came on here to get an update and now I feel so teary...it is all so real and everything we go through is starting to feel irrevelant!

Take care everyone!

gillythekid · 26/05/2008 17:33

Jules due the same day as me. So lovely to read your story, congratulations on your pregnancy. I'm lucky enough to have never experienced a m/c but was told I would never be able to have children (endometriosis for 20+years) so this baby is a big surprise for us. I'm so glad you posted today.

Peanut- congratulations from another newbie with a tear in her eye. Your due date was/is the same as mine so you've spurred me into organising my hospital bag, nursery and my life in general!!
Love the name Charlie!

mummypig · 26/05/2008 18:44

hi everyone, congrats to peanut and wow what a story. so were you about 34 weeks when baby came? I have been putting together my 'home birth' box today and started to pack my hospital bag. I think dp was a bit surprised I wanted to get it ready so soon. I have also prepared a list of things that need to be done for the boys (medication, what time they get to school etc.) and things that would be helpful like loading and unloading the dishwasher and washing machine, plus some phone numbers of people who might be able to help. If the baby comes on the due date I'm pretty sorted with people who are coming round but if he's early poor dp will be left to deal with most stuff.

Minkus and rumpel, I started a bit late with the veg this year but I have garlic, potatoes, carrots, climbing french beans and lots of Italian salad leaves outside, plus bush tomatoes just hardening off for the hanging basket, and chillies and climbing tomatoes still inside. And lots of herbs - chives, coriander, mint, parsley, basil, thyme and dill all at various stages of growth. I'm jealous of all your berries rumpel, but wary of starting any off in our garden because of having to protect them from all the snails and birds.

sweetkitty I have been getting a fair bit of heartburn too and a couple of times have had a bit of time to sleep in the afternoon but haven't been able to . A fair bit of Gaviscon before bed seems to help but I don't want to be knocking it back all the time.

Hi again to disney, kaz, glad to hear you are okay, and hello to justjules, glad you felt up to introducing yourself and best wishes for the rest of your pregnancy.

mcchesers · 26/05/2008 18:57

Yay baby Peanut!! How exciting. ooh I'm so weepy!

Hey Jules!!! So glad to see you, have been following you and baby Jules. Glad you'll be here to hold hands with in for the duration.

It's fun to feel LO's chubby arms wiggling about and tiny feet around my ribs. I can't wait to meet him.

Loads to catch up on, all I can seem to zone in on is "warm chocolate brownie with choc sauce"

off to the shops...

RUMPEL · 26/05/2008 19:23

Thought in honour of Mr and MRS PEANUT we need to start a new list:

BABIES BORN:

PEANUT Sunday 25th May - Baby Boy 5lb 8oz (Charlie?)

RUMPEL · 26/05/2008 19:27

JUSTJULES - think there are a few of us on here who know how you feel - I lost my first 1 and only found out at the 12 week scan. Have a beautiful DD now (another mc last Oct) and a surprise on the way!

MUMMYPIG - my berries haven't really got off to a good start as yet - cranberries seem ok but the rest are looking a bit so far. I have lots of herbs too - in pots around the place. I love chive flowers - they are so pretty.

Must go as DD is causing havoc with DH.

Night allxxx

Sweetdreams baby peanut.

bebejones · 26/05/2008 20:32

Congratulations Peanut! Makes it all very scary and real now that the first baby is here!!

Still doing my iPod play list....do you think that Adam & The Ants 'Stand & Deliver' is a good choice for promoting active birth?!?!?

Does anyone know where I can get a plastic sheet from? Our matress is really deep so worried bout getting one to fit, but it's new(ish) and dont want it getting wet/dirty!!!

Mummywannabe · 26/05/2008 21:07

Many many congratulations to peanut! Cried my eyes out too! Due same day peanut was (never got round to updating list to new date) so it makes it so scary.

Twinkle - hope all is well.

Justjules - welcome

Finished nursery today, looks lovely. Going to wash all baby bits this week (if it ever stops raining!)

Mummywannabe · 26/05/2008 21:08

Bebejones - my friend was advised to get a couple of cheap shower curtains for her home birth

libralady · 26/05/2008 21:22

Firstly congratulations Peanut, Luke and LO.

Welcome Jules.

Bebejones, I got a plastic mattress protector from e-bay. Only a few quid. Came across them when looking for one for DS when we were night time training him so got one for our kingsize as well. Finally got round to putting it on the bed on Saturday when we changed the bed, however we have found that we are getting extremely hot with it just under our sheet. Have decided to place it under our normal mattress protector as well, so should my waters go, obviously the sheet will need washing anyway, so we will also wash the fabric mattress protector but the memory foam mattress itself will be protected. Hope this makes sense.

DH has finally located my bag of newborn clothes in the attic so got them washed and ironed this weekend in between the cricket matches.

Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow, but then I've only got another 4 weeks left at work before ML starts which equates to 15 working days as I don't work on Wednesdays but do my full working week over the other 4 days.

Like I have said before, I plan to finish on Friday 20th June and hope to have the baby on 21st. That would be my ideal scenario. Off to Holland and Barrett tomorrow to stock up on Raspberry Leaf Capsules and some Arnica. Was due to have a massage tomorrow but DH has a cricket club committee meeting so I'll have to forfeit as someone needs to stay with DS. Ho hum. I was really looking forward to it after the stresses of the last three weeks. Never mind.

Kaz1967 · 26/05/2008 21:44

Peanut wow glad everything is well how many weeks were you cos 5lb 8oz sounds a pretty good size to me. Don't worry too much about expressing some Mums really struggle but once they get baby on the breast it all happens. If LO is not going to the breast (or even if they are) already ask about kangaroo care sometimes called skin to skin contact. You will love it, they will love it, they stay really warm, heart rate and breathing usually improve, you will get really hot (your skin temp will increase up to 2 degrees). It is a fantastic way of building up your confidence and help you relax and enjoy them esp if this is your first baby and it will help your milk supply too.

I used to use it for our occasional full termer that had come in with feeding problems too. Just because it normally got babies feeding and to see Mums relax smile and enjoy their baby even if they did not.

Hope you have been given your BLISS booklet explains some terms you will hear and give some helpful info too

RUMPEL
exams were ok passed all the maths so far, did not do quite as well as wished first Psychology exam but hey ho I was on solpadol, and tramadol and in a lot of pain at the time and I did pass it not sure about the second Psychology paper as our tutor is off sick again poor thing an it is being marked by someone else. |Got one presentation to do and that is all created and in my head, one piece of work to hand in which is finished and one more maths exam and that's it

House ticking along too although had a few hick-ups I am hoping it will be sorted by mid end June. I am up in Boston this coming w/e and seeing two Doula's up there

Packed my bad before I read about Peanut and so glad I have left some baby things in it and never go anywhere without my maternity notes.

I go to my first antenatal class tomorrow morning and I know the first two weeks are birth might well miss the last one as hope (everything crossed) to be up in Boston by then

sweetkitty · 26/05/2008 21:55

Evening all not got much to report here , had a chilled out day did a bit of gardening that was about it really, still sunny but windy here.

peanut - again congratulations and well done, hope your little man is home with you soon

jules - have added you to the list glad you feel up to joining us at last, going to get a whole more real for you in a few weeks feel like I have followed your journey so closely too especially at the start when you had so many scares

mcchesers - I think it's only natural to be apprehensive about the birth even as a third timer I'm not looking forward to it but more to meeting my baby.

Rumpel - thanks will probably stick with the lavender love the smell of it so relaxing should really get some for the garden as well. I have updated the list already great minds eh? Maybe we should have an arrivals then a Baby Waiting Lounge list? Just hope I am not one of the last off the waiting list happened last time felt v lonely.

mummypig - the MWs will only cover 39-42 weeks here so I'm not getting my home birth kit ready until about 38 weeks, things I am getting are: shower curtains for the bed, put 2 on then cover with cheap fitted sheet to secure them (worked well last time MWs broke my waters and there was no mess afterwards), shower curtains for floor, cheap towels, maternity pads oh and some really soft kitchen towel for mopping up liquids, don't think I need anything else MWs bring everything really.

hello to everyone else as well

TJuice · 26/05/2008 22:00

CONGRAAAAAATULAAAAATIONS PEANUT!!!!

just came back from non-pregnancy (but pregnancy friendly) yoga and meditation that i used to do and loved. can't believe how much it hurts these days - my body is a mess!

treated myself to an ice-cream dinner very naughty - need to be eating broccoli and chicken and stuff but just can't be bovvered with it these days. will have egg on toast in a minute.

libra - good luck with the last days of work. will go by quick, i bet.
