Here you all are.....just had a mini catch up! Have nothing exciting to report except that my friend had her baby on Monday...so am now a Godmother to a gorgeous baby boy! Poor girl ended up having an emergency C-section and now she has an infection in her stitches! But they are both doing well and DH and I couldnt be more pleased for them, they are our first friends to have a baby, and we arent that far behind!

Just going to load up my iPod with inspiring 'birth songs'.... although DH said that Salt n Pepper 'Push it' was not appropriate. To which I have replied that it may not be appropriate but it is bloody funny!

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend despite the miserable weather down south! We are having a BBQ for friends and family pre baby next weekend, I am praying for sunshine....plus DH broke the strimmer yesterday and the back garden looks more like a conservation area! Hope the rain goes away soon! I have MW appt this week, and only 2 weeks and 4 days til I finish work......cant wait!

twinkle1 · 25/05/2008 16:24

Libra1975 · 25/05/2008 16:28

Afternoon all.

Had very busy weekend, so far have hostessed a BBQ for 20 people as DH 31st bday party (in fact my input was minimal, DH did shopping and cooking and my mm made salads and MIL made pudding)
Lovely evening catching up with friends, little sad that it would probably be the last large gathering I host for a while.
Today we have been mainly spending money online, have bought our pram it's a Maclaren XLR in chocolate/blue and they are 10% in mothercare this weekend PLUS I have another 10% discount voucher (if anyone else wants to use it its code CP8 and you have to spend over £100) also slung some nipple cream, bed pads and muslins into the basket.
Then we went and ordered our new sofas from Sofa Workshop, HURRAH! :D Due the same time as the baby!
I have this week off and I am looking forward to spending some real time with DH before the baby is born.

Peanut, hope things are going well for you.

Rumpel - that is a great advice for the essential oils in milk, will deffo try that.

TJuice - that sounds like a lovely afternoon and evening, as you say very cool and very cool of your friends to organise it! However if I were you I would just tell your DH friend to go home, men don't usually take offence at that sort of stuff.

SK - I am a first time mum and I was shocked at the price of everything in M&P as well, however I ended up crying instore as everything was so lovely and sweet.

Minkus - THe sun has come out here so hopefully your walk wasn't that wet!

Twinkle - hope you are being treated like a queen and not lifting a finger, every day makes a difference. Take care of yourself and LO.

RUMPEL · 25/05/2008 18:32

Hi All,

TWINKLE - hope you rest up and baies wait a wee bitty longer - wonder how PEANUT is? She might be a Mummy by now.

SWEETKITTY - what other recipes would you like? What for? I love sandalwood - great for sore throats and I adore the smell. I also love May Chang. I use tea tree oil in my nappy bucket and sometimes when I am cleaning the washing machine. I use rose, neroli and whatever else I fancy at the time for a facial massage. Not been using them when pregnant of course - although you can after 3 months if you know what you are doing. I am going to get DD a cafe-au-lait baby - I would love a cafe-au-lait one but me and hubby are luminescent white I just think those big brown eyes, thick lashes and skin colour are gorgeous!

I sooo need to sort out my ipod - it is a mess.

HUBARB - how is your wifie doing?

TJUICE - sounds like a lovely thoughtful bunch of pals you have there - lucky you. Well doen for the late night! Not long until D-day now!!

I am growing - tomatoes, chilli, rocket, radish, mixed salad leaves, blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, green grapes, tayberries, potatoes, pak choi, peas, cucumber and some flowers! I am getting the garden sorted a bit now - but it does take a long time to mature - we've only been here almost a year now.

Had a terrible day today - felt really sick and tired beyond belief. I spent last night propped up as my food keeps coming back up now So I went to bed with DD for a nhour and half this afternoon and had dinner at 4.30! I can only eat little and often now - am soo bagged up with baby. Had to go braless today as I feel that everything is digging in - moan moan

I did the measuring thing and I am measuring (if I did it right) 35 wks - so a couple ahead. Started writing my birth plan yesterday.

well must go as DD is running about in the nuddy annoying the cat! DD did a huge poo on the kitchen floor yesterday - was rank!! She had an upset tum for a couple of days but seems fine today.

Take care allxxx

MR PEANUT - how are things? Give PEANUT our lovexxxx

CilC · 25/05/2008 19:04

Hi everyone! Have managed to get up and sit in a chair and almost feel comfortable. I can not believe how every movement is linked in some way to your ribs!!! Feeling very bad about painkillers I am on as LO has gone very quiet...think I may be sedating him! Consultant has said not to worry and I could not breathe or move without them especially last week.

Wow to Peanut and Twinkle how frightening for you both. It sounds like Peanut may be a mum by now. Good luck to you both!

Rumpel all your talk of oils has inspired me to get out some sandlwood...love the smell also and find it very relaxing. I also mop my floors with eucalyptus oil in warm water - I find it cleans very well and the smell reminds me of home!

Feeling very very low at the moment and desperately miss my family. Friends are also avoiding coming over as I think they are worried about disturbing me. DH and DD have been wonderful but I just wish I could make the most of my last few weeks. We have booked a holiday at Bedruthen Steps in Cornwall but am not sure whether to go or not. I am sure DD and DH would enbjoy themselves but do not want to ruin it for them. On the other hand a change in walls and scenery would be fabulous...will just have to wait and see how I feel.

I realise I am just being self focussed, I should be grateful that LO is ok. Have decided to try and feel more positive tomorrow!

Anyway it was good to catch up on everyone's news. Tjuice your hen party sounded lovely!

Take care everyone! xxx

JODIEhavingababy · 25/05/2008 19:57

Hi everyone,

Wow TWinkle I hope you and your babies are OK, How long away is 33 weeks? Can't be far off now surely? Just cross your legs!!!

Also Peanut hope everything is OK, does anyone know how ling they can stop contractions when the waters break? I thought it was only 48 hours.. If thats the case she will defitatly be a mummy now.

TJuice It sounds like you had a wonderful time and it sounds great! What a perfect way to spend your Hen day/night, pregnant or not!

SK I keep seeing so many wonderful things that I know full well that I won't get the wear out of, but it's so hard isn't it! I just keep thinking of the money and well done to super fit MR SK!

Cilc Glad your feeling abit better, I think a holiday would do you (and your family) good, even if you do sit in the garden all week while DH runs about after DD, even that sounds heaven!

KAZ WHERE ARE YOU???????

I was just about to go and do my Davina DVD, but decided that my pevis and hips hurt too much, and I have a busy week this week, trying to sort out nursery, so don't want to over do it! So I've sat down to do a bit of MNeeting with a cuppa (Decaf of course) and I've just demolished 6 Oreos!

sweetkitty · 25/05/2008 20:47

bebejones - congrats to your friend bet you can't wait until her baby has a little playmate

twinkle - poor you hope those little babies hang on in there a bit longer

Libra - Maclaren XLR looks like a good choice I have a Techno XT and it has been through 2 babies, been thrown in the car loads on planes and had loads of general abuse and it's still OK

Rumpel - was just looking for some general pregnancy relaxation recipes thats if I ever get the time to relax in the bath, the problem with our bath is there no way of washing your hair so I need to have a bath then jump out that bathroom and into the ensuite shower and wash my hair so most of the time I just have a shower. Am seriously impressed with your garden though. Sorry you have felt so ill today as well hope you are feeling better now.

CliC - you moan away you are going through it right now, I had a pulled muscle in my shoulder for a few days and with teh SPD that was bad enough so I cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling with broken ribs. Have you been given any painkillers?

Jodie - ty DP is even stiffer and sorer than me tonight. I don't know that much about stopping contractions but I have a friend whose waters went at 27 weeks but they stopped her labour until 34 weeks, I think your waters are constantly replenishing and it depends whether it's the hind or fore waters don't know why though.

Brought all the baby clothes in and put them in the tumble drier for 20 mins to make them soft just have to iron them now. Even DP went out for a closer look and was getting all excited about a wee person filling them soon. As a lot of them were DD1's they have special memories too (for eg the day we went to Bluewater when she was about 4 weeks old and she pooed up the back of her clothes and I didn't have spares so we went to Mothercare and bought her a whole new outfit!) aww

Bloody acid reflux driving me mad though, burping acid is not good.

Poledra · 25/05/2008 20:56

Just a quick one to say well done MrSK on his marathon and send good stay-in-there-for-awhile-longer vibes to the Twinklets and MiniPeanut.
Also, CilC, don't worry too much about your pain killers - I had to have emergancy abdominal surgery when 31 weeks pg with dd2, so you can imagine all the drugs I had to take! In the end, she was born just 2 hours over her due date, weighed 8lbs 9oz and was (and is) absolutely fine!

sweetkitty · 25/05/2008 21:01

Sorry CliC I didn't read about the painkillers as Poledra says they will be fine for the baby consultant wouldn't have given you them otherwise

pigleychez · 25/05/2008 22:21

Hi everyone,

Well done to Mr SK.!

Blimey Twinkle! Hang on in there babies! Bet that was scary.
Hope Peanut is ok too.

Scary to think things are happening for people already.

Rumpel- hope you feel better

Clic- Glad your beginning to feel abit more mobile. Sure the painkillers are fine... the consultant wouldnt have given you them otherwise.

Spent today visiting the folks. DH's nan was amazed at watching the 4d scan dvd. She didnt have any scans in her day.

Saw my sister who is due tomorrow. Shes pretty big now but thinks she'll go over. The midwife didnt think shed make it to the 15th but was obviously wrong. She hasnt even packed her hospital bag yet!

Went out for a scrummy meal today for FIL's birthday. Pudding was delicious!! Warm choclate brownie covered in white choc sauce!! Struggled to finish it which left me feeling uncomfy but hey it was worth it!!

Hope everyones enjoying the bank holiday weekend.
We are off Bed shopping tomorrow.

Minkus · 25/05/2008 23:43

SweetKitty congratulations to your dp, even if not a pb that's a great time. (omg he's obviously done it before!) Hope his legs are ok over the next few days!

CilC you poor love- hope things improve over the next few days. A break sounds a lovely idea- even if you do nowt but sit by the pool your family will love you being there I'm sure.

Twink- aaargh! Sounds scary- what gestation are twins normally born at? Know it's a bit earlier than singletons but guessing now is just too early.

Well I am still awake amazingly (but only just) as waiting for dh to get home. Will be about 12.30 and although I could go to bed I think I will just doze here on the sofa, know he'll appreciate me "waiting up" for him even if I am asleep. zzzzzzzzzz

hubarbspong · 26/05/2008 05:40

Rumpel Thanks for asking, nearly there now, some pv spotting, requiring a trip to the hospital and staying overnight. Each time widget is fine, trace is good and strong with appropriate accelerations etc.
DW is feeling fine, no pain or discomfort.

Have a week off soon, DW is going to her folks in Yorkshire and I was meant to be going to a bike do, but am now painting and building stuff from Ikea, as well as doing some extra shifts for sparkly trinket .

Well done to everyone, nearly there, you all have my utmost respect.

MINNIE1 · 26/05/2008 09:55

OMG twinkle, Hope babies are still in there.. That was a fright to get.. Hope your resting and doing ok..

Peanut
Hope all is well with you and baby... Thinking of you.

Well done Mr SK..

OMG up the walls here with all the bits that have to be done before babys arrives!! Car seats are big on the list this week as we have a 1 and 2 year old and not really ready for boaster seats! So have to sort that out..

Bump is expanding here...

gillythekid · 26/05/2008 10:04

Just typed a massive catch up post and lost it!
Thinking of you,Twinkle and your impatient LO's and all of you with aches and pains.
Clic, I think us pregnant women rely heavily on our ribs for core stability and all our organs are being pushed up there too so no wonder you're in agony, I really hope the pain killers do their job.
Tjuice, what a lovely surprise, with the added bonus of a hangover free weekend!
Sweetkitty I've learned a lesson and will insist DH hoovers up the cat fur from now on!
I've had a lovely weekend, went to the home of Charles Darwin in Kent and out for a lovely lunch nearby and sat in the sun. Yesterday I sorted baba clothes and did my hospital bag then down to Brighton for my best friends DD's 1st birthday BBQ, the sun was shining there too! Got a Maxi Cosi car seat and BF pillow from her plus a groovy Oilily changing bag and mat. Still a few bits to buy. Not so lucky with the weather today, pissing down here, gives me a chance to EBay more clutter and do some general nesting.
Have a lovely, and restful bank holiday those of you in England!

gillythekid · 26/05/2008 10:05

Peanut hope all is well!

pigleychez · 26/05/2008 12:32

Well its really grim here today so a day to stay indoors i think.

We did venture out this morning and ended up buying a lovely comfy memory foam matress and a huge leather bed frame with a massive head and footboard. Very luxurious!
Cant wait for it to be delivered now. Hopefully it will help me sleep better at nights.

Hope everyones well and the weathers better where you are.

disneystar · 26/05/2008 13:20

just wanted to say hi to you all

sorry ive been away for ages but lost the thread

wow so much as happened since ive been away
cant believe about peanut
has anyone heard any news????

mcchesers · 26/05/2008 13:51

I think we're all standing by for updates from Peanut and Twinkle ..thinking of you ladies!!

DH is nesting and as my back is kaput as of Friday..he got down and cleaned out the grout in the bathrooms. Wow! I thought well cool, I'll make some banana nut muffins as a nice treat. They were so rubbish I just wept. I asked DH if he would try his hand of course and he made the best muffins I've ever had.

Maybe I should leave him to be mother as I seem to be a domestic nightmare

Tjuice sounds like a fab weekend!

SK well done to Mr SK!!

Gilly of your new changing bag.

Still a few bits and bobs to buy..still waiting on MA pay..ugh! I don't have a single baby blanket yet, nor any muslin squares or a steriliser. Although I don't need that yet. Just going after some cheap nighties.

I'm down to two pair of jeans, one dress, and two pair of PJs left that fit but not long to go. Anyone else feeling a bit chicken about labour?!

Kaz1967 · 26/05/2008 14:30

Sorry to worry anyone I was off line it has just come back on today ?? had expected it would be tomorrow being a bank holiday today.

We are both fine the lump is kicking like a gooden

There are just so many posts to catch up with I really don't have the time so I just hope everyone is well.

minipinkscottish · 26/05/2008 14:56

Thinking of you Twinkle - hang on in there LO's xx

Peanut - hope all is going well xxxx

MINNIE1 · 26/05/2008 15:34

mcchesers
Yip i am and i am on the third, should know it well by now... I was induced with both DD's and the drive to the hospital is sooooo scary!! Even DP said it with DD2.. Have to say i am looking forward to having this little one.. It is so true about "you forget about the pain" after having a baby. Seen a newbie today and was all sad i did'nt have mine!! (sad or what)Wont be saying that when i have to do the night feeds..
What you feel about labour is natural, just dont panic about it and take it as it comes. I count 15 mins on the clock when i am in labour, and just keep tellin myself 15 mins more and i'm nearly there..

Glad to see you back Kaz..

Been hear there and everywhere!! Stopped off at mums and she feed DD's and me.. Still have to cook for DP aghhh hate cooking! Has to be done i guess..

Peanut73 · 26/05/2008 15:47

HELLO EVERYBODY!!

Yes - I am a mum! It went like this:

Thursday:
4.30pm: waters broke (hind waters), 4cm dilated, admitted to hospital, hooked up to atociban to halt contractions, stayed the night

Friday:
Transfered to another London hospital as not enough neonatal staff. Stayed night.

Saturday:
9.30pm first contraction, 8cm dilated, admitted to delivery suite

Sunday:
12.45am - baby boy born - 5lb 8oz!!
2.30am - placenta not coming out so they decide to remove it manually in theatre
6.00am - out of recovery and back to ward
9pm - held my wee boy for the first time!

Monday:
10am: baby out of incubator and now in cot!

I should be discharged today (just escaped for a couple of hours!!). The LO has to stay in for about 2-3 weeks but is doing really well so it may be sooner. It's strange not having him here.

I will write more later. Trying to express colostrum at the moment to give to my wee fighter.

Lots of love to everyone and thank you so much for all your beautiful words of encouragement.
xxxxx

JODIEhavingababy · 26/05/2008 15:50

OMG PEanut, He's a good size! Congrats... Any names yet?

I'm sitting here blubbing like an idiot!

Good luck to you and Mr Peanut and Baby Peanut.....

Libra1975 · 26/05/2008 15:53

Aww congratulations Peanut, have you named him?

gillythekid · 26/05/2008 15:53

Oh God I'm near to tears! Congratulations Peanut & Luke. Well done, thinking of you all. 5lb 8oz is a great weight and the colostrum will only make him stronger. Good luck.
