sass I would have been annoyed too on so many levels!

On the names topic, we picked out a boy's name 3 years ago before we were ttc. Then in the year we were ttc, dh's cousin got pg, had child and gave it our chosen 1st, middle and surname . Not only that but the same week we had a mc (our first pg) so we were ultra devastated that they had 'our' baby (which is of course ridiculous). So when we were pg last time, we had a word with the cousins (who we see once a year if that) and explained that we'd change the middle name, but we'd picked out that 1st name a long time ago, it was special to us, and was it ok that we were planning to use it too. Now what would you say in that situation? They said 'actually we'd rather you didn't'
So we went into labour with absolutely no clue for a boy's name, and convinced we were having a boy (family history of only boys for 100 years). Thankfully out popped dd who we hastily had to choose a name for!!
So, this time, we agree on a girl's name (as of tonight) but still have the unresolved boy's name issue. Do we or don't we use the name we really like in the event of having a boy (we're not going to ask at the scan).
And how have we made it to 3 pages of posts already?!

Hello- given thread link by starlight- I'm due 18th of September. Have been worrying a little about hardly any movements from baby over last couple of days. Only started feeling movements a few days ago but it felt like lots more then... anyone have any ideas?

Off on hols tomorrow so will be in touch when I get back
xx

dobbins · 30/04/2008 20:47

Hi starlight- movements were like little punches/kicks from inside but really low down- i.e. pubic area! Reassured that baby could be facing another way. Have got anomoly scan next week.

splishsplosh · 30/04/2008 20:51

Hello everyone,

Congratulations Connie about the house, that's great news

Meglet, I'm glad things are working out with your dp

Mamamufin / Starlight - I also got my periods back straight away.. SOOOO unfair - bled for 2 weeks after birth, had 2 weeks off, then periods began, despite bf all the time. By the way, I found all that time spent bf was great for reading - I thought I'd never get a chance to read once baby came along, but bf was a brilliant opportunity. Anyway - so Starlight, resident expert - if your periods return presumably that's zero birth control??? Not that I had to worry too much, as personally I think p was 1 of those shameful men who find it difficult to see a woman as anything more than a mummy once she's given birth

Congratulations on great scans, mine is still 3weeks away. I think I want to know the sex, last time we didn't decide til we were at the scan. I haven't put myself on the list, but find it hard to imagine having anything but a girl.. perhaps it's that growing a penis thing??

If it's a girl, i'd quite like something from my mum's name. dd had her other grandmother's name as middle name, as she was there at the birth, even though I don't really like the name

Wow haven't logged on for ages - you lot have been busy!! Great to hear about all the scans, ours coming up on May 12th. I think we will find out sex as I just can't not...also i think it's a boy so want to know sooner rather than later if it's a girl!

I was trying to keep up with the names debate - someone mentioned Noah - love it and it is my Nephew's middle name. V nice. We have some ideas but still tricky! Imogen for a girl, George for boy...??? bound to change though.

So, tedious admin question alert!! - do you have your MAT B1 forms yet? I don't and not sure where it should materialise from...

Sunshinemummy · 30/04/2008 21:36

I don't but am going to ask the midwife for it next time I see her.

Starlight glad to hear all went well at scan and counselling session.

can't keep up with all the wonderful scans that have been happening, but congrats to all of you who can now look forward to the countdown.

we're still mulling over boys names, I think we have a couple of girls names set. but we'll see, might change our minds again once we get to meet the little one.

jenpet Girls - Genevieve, Felicite, Emmanuelle. Boys - Xavier, Vincent, Didier

my scan is next tuesday at exactly 20 weeks. 6 days to go, yipee!

AHLH · 30/04/2008 22:07

OOh, hairyness, I waxed my legs with those Veet cold wax strips this evening, in preparation for a wedding on Friday. Now have a big rash all over my legs. That's never happened before. Lavishing Bio-Oil on legs, but otherwise it'll have to be black tights on Friday.

Sunshinemummy · 30/04/2008 22:08

A few of my fave boys names are French but DP hates them - Serge, Estille, Etienne.

hmm i'm getting hairier and spottier by the minute. i've never had hair and spot issues.

i'm having a weird stabby pain in the left side of my abdomen as well..but it reaches from my groin up to my ribcage....is this what you guys said you were feeling? because i'm starting to get a little nervous.

eandz · 30/04/2008 23:44

oh oh oh! we're naming my litte one Noah . i can't wait to have him. I miss him already. But i'm sure when he comes along i'll be missing my sleep. i can't wait till we're all on 'gave birth sep 08..and the sleepless nights have begun' but i have a feeling i wont be too active on that thread.

WombFor1More · 01/05/2008 01:17

Evening ladies, ooh no it's morning! Oops. Just finished mammoth task of taking pics of all dd's NB and 0-3m baby clothes. I have to sell them as this one is a boy.

I am so sad. I cried whilst I was sorting it all out

Just sad that she is growing up so fast and the fact I'll never have another dd to put them on lol!

Still have to do the 3-6-9m things yet

Think I'll leave that for another day. Am so tired but needs must.

Hope you are all keeping well. Congrats to all on the scans. So nice to hear your lovely news

Oh and at last I have the cheese !

Was getting a bit worried that I wouldn't produce this time around so that's put my mind at rest a bit.

My next door neighbour had her baby yesterday morning. I saw him last night and he is GORGEOUS.Made me want my bubba right now. It's amazing how soon you forget how small they were. Ah well all this to look forward too yet.

Sorry for the long rambling post. I only ever was good at talking to myself

Goodnight/morning and I'll be back to catch up soon, Gem xx

WombFor1More · 01/05/2008 01:23

And happy 1st of May, that's a whole month closer to meeting our lo's

eandz · 01/05/2008 07:33

hey you guys...

so i had a uti a few weeks ago and i took my antibiotics...but i'm still having the weird pain...if the uti isn't gone yet, is this dangerous for my baby?

hopefully · 01/05/2008 09:23

Morning everyone!

Whoever was comenting on the hairiness, my tummy is ridiculous. I actually contemplated waxing it (but decided that I'd have to then continue to wax it, and that might aggravate any future stretch mark situation). It is insanely hairy. Weirdly my legs haven't got noticibly hairier though.

carrieon, regarding your boy's name, I guess you have to decide whether you mind pissing off your cousin or not? Do you think it would be family dividing, or just a minor irritation for a couple of months? I have to say, if I was set on the name, I'd be inclined to do it... but maybe I'm not very nice!

eandz I have no idea about the uti, but I can't imagine it could harm baby if it was something straightforward. Perhaps you could call NHS direct or something and ask them? Although they tend to usually recommend going to doc's, which isn't that helpful.

mustsleep · 01/05/2008 09:28

hi every one and hi lovely new thread

i too am having a bit of tummy hairiness but then i did with my other two it goes afterwards thank god

eandz what's a uti?

ok so after much thought we have decided not to call bump bradley especially after the nastiness on the names thread

i am now thinking charlie and have nearly talked dh round now which middle name sounds nice with charlie?

DebitheScot · 01/05/2008 09:29

eandz I don't think it'll harm the baby if the infection is still there but if you're having the same pains it could well mean it hasn't cleared up so maybe you should go back to doc for more antibiotics.

My bump isn't hurting so much today, it was uncomfortable all day yest, by the evening I felt huge. Then after tea I did some MASSIVE burps and felt a bit better!!

DebitheScot · 01/05/2008 09:30

uti= urinary tract infection

DebitheScot · 01/05/2008 09:32

I quite like Charlie, I also like Charlotte for a girl but I'm not so sure about Charlie on a girl.
My fil is Charles Richard. I think any fairly traditional name would go, something like James.

kirstygem · 01/05/2008 09:34

Feeling massive and quite stressed at work this week. Felt like was going to have a total meltdown with really naughty year 8 class yesterday, ended up shouting for ages and DD went crazy and kicked for ages which made me want to cry as thought stress cant be good for her. Long bath and lots chocolate last night made me feel much better though.
We like Katie and Alice for names at the moment.
