this is the advice on sheep

Sheep: do not help with lambing, handle new-born lambs or come into close contact with sheep who have just given birth as sheep may carry toxoplasmosis, listeriosis or chlamydiosis organisms.

LittleSquirt · 06/06/2008 09:26

Morning everyone, may I join you?

I recognise some names from the TTC thread I was on for about a year (hello MsSparkle, Tink ).

I will be 8 weeks on Sunday and I am a total nervous wreck as I had a miscarriage last year and I am constantly worried that it will happen again.

My EDD is 18th January 09

Aniyan · 06/06/2008 10:13

Hi LittleSquirt and welcome! My original EDD was the same as yours, but the gp actually listened to me when I explained about my v short cycle and knocked it back to 15th. Will wait and see if the midwife agrees!

I've never been in your position re: miscarriage, but can imagine how worrying it must be. My SIL lost her first baby but now has 2 lovely boys - I'm sure there are plenty of others with similar stories & you won't be short of support here whatever happens

By the way, my name (Aniyan) means pretty much the same as yours (little squirt)- just in Sanskrit - pretentious, moi?

mel2005 · 06/06/2008 10:25

thanks fymandbean, i suppose older ones are safer then. i have been washing hands etc.

i hope everyone is well on this damp morning

LittleSquirt · 06/06/2008 11:08

Thanks Aniyan!

Well, I have to say that it sounds much nicer in Sanskrit than in English!

largeginandtonic · 06/06/2008 12:41

welcome Littlesquirt Stay positive, 8 weeks a good milestone to reach.

Plenty of farmers wives have babies and i am sure if they watch the hygiene issues all is well Scrub your dd when she gets home and put clothes straight in the washing machine. I am not sure i could handle a farm atm, the smell... arrrggghhhh!

I think i am feeling a bit better, well still dont actually want any food, but once i eat something i do feel ok.

It's the weekend, yay! No scool run tomorrow, wahooooo!!!!

elkiedee · 06/06/2008 12:50

Welcome LittleSquirt

tobemory · 06/06/2008 12:58

Welcome LittleSquirt and Hi All. Haven't posted for a while as having been waiting for my appointment with doc following bleed. Anyway, still strong preg test result and booked in for 7 week scan next Thursday morning. Feeling sick and can't stop eating mini cheddars (which was a big feature of last preg!) so am hoping that all will be well!

LittleSquirt · 06/06/2008 13:20

Thanks everyone!

tobemory - good luck for your scan next week. Will you actually be exactly 7 weeks on the day?

tinkis30 · 06/06/2008 13:30

hi little squirt i am 8 weeks sat and my due date is 17th of jan we rae more or less the same. once you reach 8 weeks the risk drops to 1 in 16 from 1 in 8

tobemory · 06/06/2008 14:58

hi littlesquirt, I will be 7 weeks exactly on the day of the scan so apparently much better chance of seeing whether all well or not. It's is sooo stressful having to wait another week!

LittleSquirt · 06/06/2008 15:20

Oh Tink, it's really exciting that our dates are so close!! Thanks for the stats, I always love hearing things like that!

tobemory - I had a scan at 7+2 and we saw the little bean really well. It was bigger than I thought it would be at that point and his little heart was beating really fast. We could hear it too which was incredibly reassuring. Our little bean was already 12.8 mm long at that point!

I will be thinking of you on Thursday, it is such a wonderful experience. Be sure to tell us all about it afterwards!

MissHairspray · 06/06/2008 16:18

Hi ladies, my scan is 26th June in London which I am about as it is bang in the middle of our two weeks holiday. We weren't going abroad but were planning to spend 2 chilled out weeks with family back up North. When I spoke to midwife she said if I didn't have it then I wouldn't get one, as they didn't have earlier slots and wouldn't do after 13 weeks, which I am ashamed to say made me cry down the phone (this was after trying to buy canestan at boots and they refusing to sell it to me now I was pg without a prescription, and being stuck 300 miles away from my dr). I work away for most of the week so it is really difficult trying to see gp/midwifes etc.

Anyway, whinge over. Have a good evening xx
MsSparkle - 16th June
tink - 16th of june
MissHairspray - 26 June

elkiedee · 06/06/2008 16:31

MissHairspray, scan date sounds a pain, but nuisance though it is can you go ahead with holiday plans but just return for that day or overnight for the scan? Whereabouts is your family?

stripeywoollenhat · 06/06/2008 16:31

MissHairspray - that's rubbish about the canesten, i had boots refuse to sell it to me in the past but my doc says it's fine (not in pill form though, only the cream and pessary). so long as you're sure it's not some other kind of infection, as i think some of the other common kinds aren't good for your pregnancy. but i needed it a few weeks ago and just didn't say anything about pregnancy to the chemist.

tink, i also love that stat, being 8+3 today...

MissHairspray · 06/06/2008 16:50

Hi Elkiedee, might have to do that. Will mean 2x train trips from London-Newcastle but I do it once a week anyway.

Stripey - that's what I thought which is why I was suprised. Think they are just covering themselves grrr. Racing back on a train now to try and get to gps before shuts for weekend, but in future will probably just lie.
Favourite trousers no longer fit and a being knackered means a complete absence of personal grooming recently so look a total state. Bring on 14 + weeks when we will all have lovely bumps, beautiful glowing skin and glossy hair and can waft around contentedly in floral smocks. [gazes in to distance with dreamy expression]

scared1976 · 06/06/2008 17:31

poor you misshairspray that is really rubbish!

i went to register at my docs today, it was really shocking too. the doctor didnt ask me anything, didnt tell me any advice on diet or exercise, just said "you should hopefully get a scan date in the post". had to see him so i could get in the system, but made me very happy that ive been going to a private clinic!!!

Aniyan · 06/06/2008 17:42

Went to Primark today and bought a load of long vests (only £2 each!) to wear under my normal tops to cover the unseemly gaping-zip area of my jeans . Will be much easier when everyone knows / there's a real bump there!

I'm also lacking in energy but dp keeps telling me to 'try not to surrender to it' - which makes me a bit grrrr at times!

Have managed to do some emergency gardening today though as well as gym & normal work/house stuff so felt totally justified in sitting down with a HUUUGE belgian bun and a cup of tea while ds was at a party this afternoon

Got no scan dates yet, but I'm pretty sure it's likely to be when dp is either at Glastonbury or overseas - so am thinking about who I want to take with me. My friends are either at work or have little ones to look after & no local family members who'll be available - still, something will come to my addled brain I'm sure!

looweeza · 06/06/2008 18:21

hey all

just a quick question - i'm 10 weeks today, and still haven't received my scan date...have been on to the midwives repeatedly, but it turns out they never recieved a fax from my GP so they're only now processing my details..

My big big worry is the fact that there is a window for the nuchal scan (i think i've seen it mentioned on this thread) - does anyone know what that window is?

About to go to on hol for a week and am getting v stressed. Thinking it will be best to book in a private scan when i get back.

Any info v much appreciated - thank you!

looweeza · 06/06/2008 18:27

right - me again, i've just googled it and found out the answer (trying to stop panicking and think sensibly!) - it's 11-14 weeks.

so, if i haven't heard back from m'wives when i get back from hol, i'll be making that harley street trip (can't afford it, but hey..)

take care..

Spink · 06/06/2008 19:47

hello!
I have been a lurker for too long now and finally have decided to take the plunge and join you! Hurrah!! (if that is ok, that is )
I am 8+6, saw midwife on Tues, which was lovely as she was my midwife last time I was pg (ds is now 15 months). Scan due on the 16th!! Oh, and I'm due on the 10th.
Had a miscarriage at 9-10 weeks in April, which is one reason for the lurking & not posting. I really hope I won't be leaving this thread in a couple of weeks, would be nice to stay til the new year...with you lovely lot.

elkiedee · 06/06/2008 20:42

Welcome Spink. I hope you, and I, will stay around to share the experience - there are quite a few of us here with a baby born in 2007 as well.

fymandbean · 07/06/2008 07:59

hello all - well done all the form filling with the GP....just waiting for scan dates! Looks like they think I should have an arly (8wk ) one due to the problems I had last time (I was honest })
