OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
stripeywoollenhat · 31/05/2008 11:30

or is that 32+3 weeks to go? surely i haven't lost the ability to do basic arithmetic already...

elkiedee · 31/05/2008 11:43

I have a booking in appt with the midwife already - although not until 25 June (when I'll be 11 weeks). And it mentions the scan as a 10 week scan.

stripeywoollenhat · 31/05/2008 11:47

i'm in dublin, and my 14 week (!) scan will be at 16 weeks... we are having a baby boom, apparently.

elkiedee · 31/05/2008 11:54

Stripey, 16 weeks, eek at waiting so long! I'm about the same age as you. Looks like there's a few of us oldies on here.

tinkhasabunintheoven · 31/05/2008 12:02

i am having a scan in 2-3 weeks will be 9 -10 weeks

stripeywoollenhat · 31/05/2008 12:03

it is a long wait, isn't it? in my innocence, i though it all kicked in much sooner than that, but we do have a pretty rubbish health service over here. i'm going (again privately, sigh) for fetal screening at twelve weeks, though. yes, it does look like this thread has a few - ahem - 'geriatric' mums-to-be (someone told me that's a technical term...).

wrinkles and porn star breasts. it's all a bit confusing...

stripeywoollenhat · 31/05/2008 12:07

tink, 9-10 weeks means you should avoid the delight of the dildo-cam...

elkiedee · 31/05/2008 12:08

I was referred to as an "elderly primagravida" with ds1 at 37 - not really used to being considered old. I don't think geriatric is used as a technical term. Just don't read the thread about how old is too old on here.

stripeywoollenhat · 31/05/2008 12:16

know what you mean about being old - though the enforced (by nausea) not going out or drinking (not just by nausea, admittedly) and the general hanging around on the sofa half watching the tv is making me feel like i'm on the verge of retirement... i'm not sure i really believe in too old; if it's still physically possible, then you aren't too old.

fymandbean · 31/05/2008 12:24

my Mum was classed as an elderly primagravida when she had me - she was 29 mind you this was the early seventies!

stripeywoollenhat · 31/05/2008 12:27

i think she might even be considered a fairly young mum now!

MsSparkle · 31/05/2008 12:34

Hello all,

Congrats to Buckles and laidbackinEngland

Witchandchips i have found this time around i am way more tired and sick. I didn't have any sickness with the first, although my mum just told me she had no sickness with my sister but loads with me so maybe it runs in the family?

I am starting to look round in the tummy, although it just looks like i am fatter rather than pregnant at the moment. I think with my first i held out until about 4/5 months before i was forced to buy maternity clothes!

I had the scan date come through the post this morning, the 16th June which is 2 weeks on Monday! It's the 12 week scan for me, although i think i will be just under 12 weeks, more like 11 and a half weeks. It's exciting although i am a bit nervous because i haven't heard a heart beat or anything yet so this will be the first time i will see or hear the baby!

MsSparkle · 31/05/2008 12:35

Is there anyone in their early 20s on here? I am only 23, i feel like an infant!

stripeywoollenhat · 31/05/2008 12:55

MsSparkle, there are loads of us on here, i'm sure some of us must be in their twenties!

elkiedee · 31/05/2008 13:31

MissSparkle, there are several 20somethings according to their profiles. As stripey says, lots of us here, and many people haven't mentioned age, I know I mention it because it's something I worry about! I'm much more used to being surrounded by people older than me. When I first joined a mumsnet antenatal group it seemed like everyone there was soooo much younger.

LenniEd · 31/05/2008 13:37

I'm 28... was 26 when I had DD - this is your first isn't it MsSparkle, no too far off. I was considered young when I had DD!!And my MIL was 33 when she had DH and had to stay in hospital for ages and generally get treated like a fragile case as she was considered old! How times change.

Am also looking more fat than pregnant - seem to have suddenly developed a belly in the last couple of days. Have no maternity trousers left after last pg, ruined or gave away all of mine so need to get some more sharpish. Am having that can't stand pressure on stomach thing start happening now my trousers are getting tighter. Am 7+4 today - don't dare work out how long is left, will seem like forever the way I'm feeling today!!

tinkhasabunintheoven · 31/05/2008 13:47

how exciting mssparkle my scan letter should come through this week hopefully as we go away a week mon to centre parcs.
just want to get letter so that i know when it is
my scan should be in the same week as yours 2. having it them as going by my lmp would be 12 weeks then i only make it 9 as cycle was 50 days

TheTickListQueen · 31/05/2008 15:43

wow its such a big list now!!!!

MsSparkle · 31/05/2008 17:01

LenniEd, no this is my second baby

Tink, it's so exciting isn't it! I will remember not to put coco butter on my belly this time (for stretch marks) because last time with dd, i came out in rash because the gloop they put on your tummy reacted with the coco butter!

tinkhasabunintheoven · 31/05/2008 17:13

it will be my first 12 weeks scan as only got 20 week one with dd1. the gel is so cold and i remember there being a loo next to scan room i needed a wee as you do when you are not allowed to go.

LenniEd · 31/05/2008 17:33

When I had my 12wk scan with DD I had to ask the lady to stop so I could use the loo - I was seconds away from wetting myself as someone else said, I'm not sure my pelvic floor is up to holding on as long anymore, so might be a close one again!

I had actually drunk so much last time that my bladder was obscuring the baby and they got better pictures once I'd been for a wee. The irony.

LenniEd · 31/05/2008 17:35

Sorry MsSparkle... the list wasn't on the page so I took a guess. Still, not so far away in age. I really must put my profile back on, took it off a couple of months ago after some unwanted attention, but think I'm in the clear again now
