i read my pregnancy diary from my first baby last night and i didnt go into maternity clothes until 20 weeks.
i was lucky with my wedding dress though. i bought it in oct 03 got preganant over christmas and was 12 weeks the week of the wedding in feb 04, luckily the size 10 dress fitted ok for the big day but the week after i couldnt get it done up.

this time around i am in maternity clothes already (8 weeks on sunday). i didnt have many matrnity clothes for my first and did struggle to find anything to wear when not at work. at work i used to wear my lovely stretchy laura ashley dresses. i am a teacher so they were perfect. but i couldnt find any jeans that looked good or even fitted properly, it was depressing.

with my second baby i did buy some more clothes as i needed to be able to grab something and go.
this time around i have bought loads. i have had some fantastic bundles off e-bay that have been really cheap. i look for next maternity, mothercare or blooming marvellous. i found that george maternity just doesnt last long. i have had some good bargains from mothercare as they were doing the maternity sale clothes buy on get one half price. i breastfed my second for 18 months so had good use out of breastfeeding tops which you can wear as maternity tops before the birth so they can be a good investment. i am wearing one today as its slightly longer so nobody can see i am wearing maternity jeans. it looks like a normal top with a mock vest underneath.

to be honest some of the maternity tops that dont have gathered sides can be worn for years after the birth, they are great for hiding post baby bellies. ;)

Not had time to read all posts but I also have porn star boobs, bloated belly meaning I have gone up two clothes sizes on the bottom, nausea and tiredness. I am only 5weeks + 5 so am a bit that I have changed shape so fast.

I am going shopping for maternity bottoms tomorrow which I will try to hide under my normal longish tops.

Bit surprised to be posting on here. Had given up on a Jan baby after AF arrived. However had a few niggly symptoms which I put down to other things at first but after they continued I decided to do a test to 'rule it out'. Bit relieved it was positive and not just my body falling apart.

Doc has confirmed my dates - due 16th Jan. DS was born Jan 07 and if I do say so myself we make fab January babies

Am in the US atm and they don't scan until about 20 weeks. Ugggh just have to forget about it really. Cramping seems to have stopped but felt a bit blah the last couple of days. Nice to feel pg this time as no symptoms with DS and didn't even show until 6.5 mths. No such luck this time.

Oh my goodness have just been watching Good Morning America over breakfast and saw about a woman who has given birth after a nine month ECTOPIC pregnancy! Mother and baby are fine. Think it was in Australia but was too shocked to register all the details. Baby developed in an ovary.

Now I've googled it. They didn't know or have any signs the pregnancy was anything other than normal until the end.

I actually had a scan earlier this week (viability scans are standard in the US), and they said everything was fine, the baby had a strong heartbeat. I think I am just worrying over nothing, if I lose the m/s as well I'll be heading straight back to the doctor.

that is great that you saw a strong heartbeat

I'm just catching up on the days goss and laughing at the idea of a room full of pregnant women all waiting for scans and desperate for a wee! Won't be laughing in two weeks though when its me who is hopping on one leg (although I suspect dh will find it hilarious)
I'm 8 weeks and like to pretend I have a bump but really I think it was just one too many pre-preg pies. Am desperately wearing all of my nice clothes because I know my waist hasn't got long left - in fact, scuse me for a minute while I go change in to my wedding dress....

chocs - internal probe is like a long thin dildo doesn't hurt ...

hello all - i think dp would have liked to video me yesterday - needed to pee so badly before scan that i couldn't actually sit down and was struggling not to throw up and not to pass out and not to pee in my pants simultaneously. i'm sure i noticed other people in the waiting room inching nervously away in case i was contagious...

as a first-timer, can i ask when the hideous boob pain subsides?

my boob pain went at about 12 weeks last time. I wore sports bras in bed until then. Hot water bottle also helped as did wearing a very supportive bra and a secret support vest during the day. If it gets bad you can take paracetomol without any effects on the baby. HTH.
