Totally - as if we aren't paranoid enough already.

Bought 7 flapjacks today (only eaten one!). Am beginning to wonder if I am actually pregnant or just deluding myself so I can gorge...

primrose88 · 22/05/2008 22:06

hi guys love to join you, found out im pregnant today, due early Jan, off to the doctors in the morning, for the big confirmation, preg symptoms are kicking in slowly just cant wait isnt it exciting

LooseyC · 22/05/2008 22:19

Congrats primrose88 (and everyone)!

As has already been said, first visit to Drs isn't as exciting as it should be. Had to persuade mine to test for DC1 as I wouldn't believe it otherwise but they didn't want to... I think we should get something better than an NHS booklet in honour of the occassion!

elkiedee · 22/05/2008 23:26

I just got Emmas's Diary, I had to wait for real excitement until 12 +2 - though would have got a scan at 10 weeks I think if I'd been here at the time - they kindly gave me the first morning after getting back from holiday.

OutofthisWorld · 23/05/2008 01:27

Hiya All,

Can I join?
This is my first time, so excuse me if I write things longhand [yawn]. Is there a legend somewhere?
I'm a 2nd time mum. My son's 3 years old.
We are about 6 weeks (confirmed by the GP's Office this week Wednesday).
I'm so excited - we've been trying for a while.
I'm probably older than most - 41 by the time baby is born. DD is on or around 12 January.
I was searching the web for other Mums to chat with.
Had a blissful first pregnancy, but this time around, it feels different. I keep getting stitches on the sides of my stomach - is this normal?

fym this is good more realistic stats

LooseyC · 23/05/2008 09:11

Hello outofthisworld. I get stich-type pains too, mainly around the hip-bone area (if I can remember where they were...) and a bit higher too, often also when I move too quickly or even when I sneeze lying down! I really worried the first time round but there was never anything wrong. I should have guessed I was pregnant again really when they came back, must have been just after conception - strange!

Sure your GP/MW would be understanding though if you are worried about it.

scared1976 · 23/05/2008 10:07

hi everyone. am 7 weeks tomorrow i think and OH MY am I tired. I have to be at my desk at 630am and I am like a zombie. I could pass out, right here on my keyboard.

Naturally, am convincing myself this is excellent sign.

Less excellently, my trousers are too tight. Clearly I am destined to be massive.

Roll on the weekend....

HeathersMummy · 23/05/2008 12:04

Morning ladies,
Congrats to all who have joined in the last couple of days .
Well, went to the docs on Wednesday and it was a locum - joy! I know I'm nearly eight weeks pregnant, but he didn't have a clue about calculating EDD. He said that as I had just had a test at his surgery on Wednesday then I was only 4 weeks gone ,clearly he feels that you're only pregnant when you do a test at the surgery then he added the classic - do you feel pregnant!?! Not happy, should just have waited til my own doc came back from hols. Anyhow, he couldn't help any more, so the the lovely receptionist took over and I have a booking in appointment with the midwife next Thursday by which point I'll be 8+6. Rant over .
Have a good day all.

elkiedee · 23/05/2008 12:49

Wow that's useless HM. Presumably the midwife will have more of a clue!

I'd forgotten how much I hated the tube at this stage - I'm lucky that empty trains usually run from my local station in the morning but getting out and the evening journey, aaaaarrrrrghhhh - I rarely got offered a seat until 7 months.

tinkiszzzz · 23/05/2008 13:28

hi ladies

i know just what you mean scared i am 6 weeks tomorrow and exhausted cant keep me eyes open and nothing fits
hm men honestly glad you have appmnt sorted i am seeing mine next wed

nooschmoo · 23/05/2008 13:33

hey ladies....had my dr's appointment yesterday, wasn't expecting much, as remembered the first time all too well! - me & DH had been so excited and were expecting, i don't know, a fanfare or something, & he took a day off work to come with me. The (locum)dr was so morose, and said 'that's the end of your social life' I think my face must have been like this: 'cos he then tried to backtrack, but the damage was done....Haha! we found it quite funny afterwards, but were pretty deflated at the time. This time though,it was my own doc who seemed genuinely happy for me & offered congrats & shook my hand, which was nice. Just waiting for MW appointment now....

looseyC does your small age gap scare you? My DD is only 7 1/2 months & I keep having panic attacks about how we'll cope, especially at the moment as she's got a horrible cold & is miserable & demanding & grumpy & not sleeping & it brings me out in a cold sweat imagining managing 2 like this....hope you're all ok, by the way...

happyathome · 23/05/2008 14:24

hi everyone,
still thinking of you all.welcome and congrats to newcomers.
i don't think it matters whether you have big or small age gap noo.mine's big 6 years and i'm panicking too!.My DD's been a real PITA this morning, and ended up me taking her in school and the teacher giving her a lecture-least they backed me up.
She's really testing just now and acting more like 2 than nearly 6.They drain you emotionally as they get older.Sorry you probably didn't want to hear that!!.
I'm so tired today and feel like someone's 'kicked' me down there permanently and my stomach is rather tender, rather sore than nauseous today.I actually thought today, after your post noo,we are coping with 2 children already are we not?!.
One inside, one outside and theyr'e both pretty demanding don't you think.I suppose it might be nature's way of preparing us in advance...so repeat with me
I WILL COPE....I WILL COPE...IT WILL BE AT TIMES BUT....I WILL COPE....why don't we all march through the streets together saying that...it might convince me then.Had one walk this week(1/2 hour) but had enough, now allergic to exercise.

looweeza · 23/05/2008 16:17

hello - can i join this thread please? confirmed i'm 8 weeks today - had a scan this morning and saw a heart beat!

so after a few weeks of feeling dreadful after a couple of early complications, i now feel very excited and ready to join mn.

not sure how to add to that long list though - my due date is 2 jan - would i just copy and paste?

can't wait to share advice (although i'm a first timer, so have no pregnancy advice myself just yet) and experiences...

HeathersMummy · 23/05/2008 16:18

yeh, i guess we are...i hadn't thought about it that way hah....and yes, i did think the older they were the more well behaved they got - is that just me being overly hopeful & incredibly naive?! thanks hah...

I've just eaten 2 cream slices & now i feel sick....is that a pregnancy thing, or a pig thing, i wonder....?

primrose88 · 23/05/2008 19:24

Hi guys

doctors appointment was ok, they took a urine sample to confirm pregnancy which takes 1 week (no impressed),

its some thing about that 2nd test that makes you actually beleive it. So i went out and brought a clear blue digital and got PREGNANT!! (i no that sounds crazy), any way just got an emmas diary really, and have to rebook when my results come back to do the real pregnancy stuff, they stated I am between 7-8weeks, and I have my first appointment with the midwife on 10th June.

Chocsolot · 23/05/2008 20:52

Hi everyone,

Been so mad today and i now feel so rough, and am still getting mad stomach cramps! I really hope they die down soon, the net says they should do when you get to about week 7 (one week to go!) - anyone have experience of that?

elkiedee couldn't agree more about the tubes.... its horrible, i was on the tube with my friend who is 7 months yesterday and just glared at this really arrogant guy until he felt abliged to offer her his seat, bless she is such a tiny person with such a massive bump, i can't believe people can be so rude as to look right through us . Hope I have the nerve to still glare at them once i really need the seat! . Anyway, role on long weekends!

Hope you all have a nice relaxing bank holiday

LooseyC · 23/05/2008 21:01

Hi nooschmoo...

The very small age gap between DC1 and 2 doesn't worry me too much at the moment as DS has been so very good - although I've probably been lulled into a false sense of security and it will all go horribly wrong!(ok, so perhaps I'm worried after all...) I don't think you can really know what it will be like, but we coped last time and will do so again! (OK, so the house will be dirtier...)

Other plus points for me are are I can back to back my maternity leave, DS will not really understand and get jealous (maybe), and they can play together later on. Negative point maybe that haven't recovered fully from last time and don't know it. However I feel like I bounced back very quickly so try not to dwell on that.

It is a bit different finding out 2nd time round though isn't it? I'm trying to be as excited but don't think anything wil be the same as the first happy/ panic feeling!

Tube travel - I used to get offered a seat at 3 months, so there are nice people out there - I think it depends on your line (go for the Victoria and Bakerloo!). Mind you it was 90% women and tourists who obliged (I took a running count in the name of research ), hardly ever men .

tinkiszzzz · 24/05/2008 08:19
