The doctors appointment is disappointing. I remember going to my first doctors appointment when having dd and asking for a test because i didn't quite believe it. He said i could give him a urine sample and he could send it to the lab and get the results in 7-14 days I came out thinking what a big waste of time that was.

largeginandtonic · 22/05/2008 11:35

Exactly MisSparkle, i was so let down when i had the twins. I was sure they would do a test and give you a special book

Midwives are lovely though, that is a good appontment. Try and arrange it for home so you can drink tea and eat cake. Midwives love that

chefswife · 22/05/2008 12:29

good day everyone. i've been cruising through the thread... missed a couple of days.

fourlittlefeet i have mild OCD but have noticed that i want to pack everything up now and i don't leave for another two weeks. it's driving me crazy.

scared1976 i'm 8 weeks and haven't felt any morning sickness either! yahoo to those of us in the 25%... sorry for the rest of you.

i have found though that since kicked my ass off the couch watching old westerns (although i love them) and got back to pilates and yoga, i have more energy. could also be the sugar rush from all the fruit i'm eating though. i sat down and ate a whole pineapple in one sitting. my name should be piggygirl.

also i have found that time is ddddddrrrrraaaaaggggggggggiiiiiiinnnnnngggggg........ wtf?

MsSparkle · 22/05/2008 12:40

I don't feel so sick this morning, it just proves that rich tea biscuits are in fact good for you!

I told DH about BFP when he came home from work last night and he was not pleased - to put it mildly. He was saying things like 'we've just bought this house and now it's not big enough' (it's got 3 bedrooms, I'm sure we'll cope). He also said he should've had the snip! Not a planned pregnancy - can you tell? I'm trying to feel positive because it's done now, isn't it? It takes two but he's barely speaking to me .

oopsadaisyangel · 22/05/2008 14:03

Oh buick I'm sorry to hear DH not being supportive. How do you feel about this pregnancy?

My DH has been very quiet since I told him I'm pregnant but I think (well hoping) that it has more to do with the fact that my due date is exactly the same date as DS2's due date and after losing him he's scared.

buickmackane · 22/05/2008 14:11

As I said, I'm trying to think positive - after all, babies are fantastic little miracles and we have two lovely boys already. I want to be excited but he has put a huge dampner on things.

I'm not surprised your DH is quiet, it must have been devastating to lose your last baby. I really admire you for going for it again.

oopsadaisyangel · 22/05/2008 14:30

Thanks! Wasn't completely planned more a case of not preventing it - although DH did say "Super Sperm strikes again" when I told him he's such a child sometimes

LooseyC · 22/05/2008 14:36

Strange that Dr told you to come in after 6 weeks, it's not as though they do anything except book you other appointments for blood tests and midwife etc, it's a dissapointing non-event.

I wont have my booking app with a midwife until after 12 weeks - time is going to drag for me anyway! Have arranged a nuchal scan today (£180 - boo) for the beginning of July which seems so far away. We're not telling people until after then and that's going to kill me... Oh well, at least I still look 5 months pregnant from DC1!

buickmackane · 22/05/2008 14:38

lol, you must be in on an 'emotional rollercoaster' to quote reality tv!

Gawd, my mum just phoned and I wanted to tell her but she said she's having a lovely day out at York with her sister, so I didn't want to spoil her day. She would be happyish for me because she adores my boys but then...
actually she would be happy. Why did I think I'd spoil her day by telling her she had another grandchild on the way??!! This is his fault! Just talking to you and thinking about your DS2 has made me realise this is a time to celebrate!

oopsadaisyangel · 22/05/2008 14:49

DS1 had me in tears when we told him last night. He's so matter-of-fact and said "well lets hope that this baby's heart doesn't stop beating like baby Finn because we've got a cot and everything" Then wanted to know exactly how Daddy had managed to put another baby in mum tummy so soon!

buickmackane · 22/05/2008 14:51

That sounds like something my 6 year old would say! I don't think I'm going to tell my DC until I have to, think it might make pregancy seem even longer if continually asked 'is it nearly here yet?' lol

buickmackane · 22/05/2008 14:54

oopsadaisyangel, thank you so much for talking to me this afternoon! You have really helped me feel better. Off to do school run now. Hope to speak to you again.

oopsadaisyangel · 22/05/2008 15:03

No problem! I'm about most days so just shout if you need me

tinkwantstobearockstar · 22/05/2008 16:56

hi ladies i am 6 weeks sat
how far are you ladies?
i am feeling confident now found out when only 4 weeks

llareggub · 22/05/2008 17:03

HI folks. I managed to get a scan today and I'm a little stunned by the outcome. The sonographer could not see anything on the scan at all, so I can't be 6 weeks pregnant. As some of you will know, I had a bleed this week which I think is too late to be an implantation bleed at 6 weeks.

The sonographer asked how long my cycle is and of course, with my history of PCOS I have no idea but it is very irregular. She has suggested to me that I am actually much earlier than 6 weeks, possibly 4 weeks pregnant (if at all) and the bleed is indeed an implantation bleed. She has suggested that I go back for another scan in 2 weeks. There is nothing on the scan to confirm whether I am pregnant or not.

So....I still have a positive test....but am definitely NOT due on the 15 January. If I am pregnant then I can only be 4 weeks and that makes it the 27th January. So I shall wait and see, I think.

tinkwantstobearockstar · 22/05/2008 17:46

i was taking my temp before i got pregnant and know when i ovulated also long cycle 55 days

do i definetly go by ovulation for due date
or do i work out due date from lmp

have midwife appointment wed when i booked it over phone told her that i had long cycles is going by lmp for due date

by there calculations would be 9 weeks sat (lmp)
by mine would be 6 weeks sat(ovu)

fymandbean · 22/05/2008 17:57

llareggub - when did you get your positive test? Although I thought you had to wait to eight weeks to see anything on an early scan... (so 6 wks from ovulation?)

MsSparkle - yes a doctors appointment- doc just said - not worth you filling out the forms as 1 in 5 have a miscarriage come back in 2 weeks!

fymandbean · 22/05/2008 17:58

tink yours needs adjusting on a dating scan

I still remember my midwife insisting on LMP for due date last time (mind you for me only 3 days out) - DS arrived on my due date!

llareggub · 22/05/2008 18:28

fymandbean - I tested positive on Sunday and from LMP thought I was 6 weeks. I paid for a private scan at a local private maternity hospital where they do transvaginal scans from 6 weeks. At 6 weeks they can see a sac and from 8 weeks a heartbeat. I know all this because I had a suspected miscarriage at 8 weeks with my son and needed a scan. I couldn't get one on the NHS for a week so paid to go to the private hospital and saw a lovely beating heart at 8 weeks.

So, I'm going to do another test in the morning and will update then.

fourlittlefeet · 22/05/2008 18:45

gosh where is everyone its very quiet in here. COME OUT OF THE KITCHEN AND STOP EATING BISCUITS... I want to chat!

fourlittlefeet · 22/05/2008 18:46

LG&T,pass us some noodles, got the soy ready.

MissHairspray · 22/05/2008 19:37

Am busy staring at my hotpot willing it to defrost. Thinking I might have to slather it in cheddar cheese as that is all I want to eat at the moment yummm.

Went to register at my new docs today and was not impressed - had to nip to the loo to (ahem) powder my nose, and no soap next to the washbasin! Now I am no monica but that just isn't right in a place full of sick people!

MsSparkle · 22/05/2008 20:17

fymandbean The doctor was abit mean saying 1 in 5 have miscarriages!
