Re sickness - I started feeling sick about the same time as this first time round, just over 6 weeks (I think 6 weeks today) and I've felt slightly sick but not much so far. I didn't actually throw up until 10 weeks 1st time round, but had heartburn and the threat of throwing up right up to the birth. I hardly showed for months, put on 4 lbs between 12 and 40 weeks (not sure about before that but if anything people seemed to think I'd lost weight), and was a stone lighter soon after birth than before. But I felt awful, and my mum lost 2 stone in each pregnancy with terrible MS so I don't think it's something to be envied.

Yes, I'm feeling cold and thought it was just the weird weather. Or thought I was imagining the possible pregnancy (somehow I thought it quite soon even though I'm a bit irregular) and that it was my usual premenstrual shivery thing. Am hoping it's a bona fide symptom.

I'm sure you've all long since gone to bed but good night anyway.

I haven't had sickness at all; feel absolutely fine so far except a bit tired. I'm touching wood as I type that though.

Does anyone have any brilliant book recommendations? I've got 'what to expect when you're expecting' which seems pretty comprehensive, but anything with more personal stories would be welcome. I'm one of those people that need information about what is happening to me!

Last night I was so freezing in bed that my Dad (visiting for a couple of days) had to get my winter duvet out of the attic for me! Wish my OH was here to keep me warm, but alas we live 3 hours apart! That will have to change...

NJ is indeed still with us! Such great news, she is a dear MN friend of mine and i am so excited to be able to share an antenatal thread with her.

Magpie i am the eat and i feel ok camp too, last time i was preg dh was away till i was about 20 weeks, he went the week before i got a positive test. He is now having all the hormone and food fad love i can muster

I am managing toast today and it makes me feel better for a bit longer. Noodles still on my hit list though.

Shopping today, cue me walking round the supermarket in a daze thinking everything looks yuk and the poor children getting pasta pesto for the next 12 weeks. Bless them.

I must go through and learn everyones names, am useless sorry I bame growing a child

Hello everyone - can I join in? Just found out and think I'm due around the 22nd Jan (young GP didn't have his 'wheel of fortune' as I was the first pregnant person he had seen!

I'm still very much a fingers-crossed touch wood sort of person, but all being well this will be our 2nd - DS is 5 1/2 months so there will be a very small age gap. It's going to be chaos in Jan isn't it? (LG&T you will think that's nothing!)

Not been feeling too bad luckily (as last time round), thought might have a bit of a tummy bug (!) as couldn't believe we'd got lucky at the first try.

So sorry I haven't been back to say everything is OK, I am a bit nervous coming back just yet, feeling on the whole a lot more optimistic, but don't want to jinx anything.

Triggles, I am so very very sorry for you, I think going through a MC is one of the hardest things we ever go through, you must look after yourself, and let yourself heal, pyshically, emotionally, and mentally. I don't know if it makes you feel any better because right now everything is so hard, but it does get better given time. I wish you lots and lots of love and luck for the future xxx

I will pop in every now and then to keep up, but am going to lie low for the next few weeks, just make a bee line in my mind for the dating scan and then I can hopefully relax fully, and start to enjoy it with all of you I can't wait

Feeling slightly better today, i think the rich tea biscuits are helping I think i am about 7 weeks now, it's gone so fast!

Maybe, although i'm not that bothered about wanting the scan to be here. I am one of those who only worries if there is something to worry about

With dd i found the pregnacy flew by, then the last couple of weeks went really slowly!

....yep I was too early, they'll only book me in at 6 weeks.....

fym do you mean the doctor or the mid-wife? I know mid-wives like to see you at around 8 weeks because there isn't alot they can do before that stage. I would have thought a doctor would have seen you anytime though?

The doctor will do nothing, it is a disappointing trip believe me. No confirmation of pregnancy, they dont test. You may be offered folic acid (mine has done before) but that is it.

The midwife will not want to book you in till you are further on. Usually 10 weeks or so. That appointment is long and they will go through a detailed family history with you. It is worth asking relatives all about any medical issues they have before this appointment.

I am bypassing the doc this time, will go straight to the miwife. I know he wants to see me in a week about the hcg levels but if they are sky high i will probably just hang on and see the midwife.
