needahand · 18/04/2008 17:15

bito good point. Will have a think. I would actually not mind is she took longer to do some task if that means she does them better though.

Still at work and really struggling to push myself to do work today...(which is probably why I posted so much)

katyjo · 18/04/2008 17:35

Sorry to hear everyone is having problems.
Glad tp hear your ok PARO make sure you look after yourself.

Love the name Jackson dylansmum I'm sure it will get shortened when he is a teenager but if you keep telling him he is Jackson not Jack he will probably be the one to make sure he is Jackson. It is a lovely name.

Neenz hasn't posted for a while, I wonder if she has had her babies, hopefully we'll hear from her soon.

makecakesnotwar · 18/04/2008 17:49

Fingers crossed for Neenz if she is 'getting ahead of herself' (and me !)

Needahand- that's exactly how mine started, SPD that is. It felt like I had been kicked by a horse...sadly it's started feeling like that again, except more swollen this time....eurgh! SEnding sympathy to you, splodge and sophie at your physio- your mum souds fab.

Sophie- sorry about your DH...maybe you should book the babysitter next time?

Paro- PLEASE take it easy!

DQ and Mell- sending Friday afternoon hugs, and the odd virtual Creme Egg (what the hell, the weight's mostly already there, right?)

Re: cleaner- have had similar issues and agree that if they think that it is a time issue, they will slow down. Mine started taking the piss in an unbelievable way then f*cked off on holiday for three weeks without telling me, so she bit the dust. Now have a cleaner who is not as good but so reliable, trustworthy and conscientious, that I don't care. But if you are paying for four hours, you should get four hours. YOu don't pay for a full head of highlights and settle for walking out of the salon with 3/4 of a head, do you?

josey · 18/04/2008 18:18

Hello all fellow sufferers

Im having a right day of it head I feel like someone has put me on a roundabout and I cant get off...oh well at least it is a lovely sunny day.

Dylansmum love the name Jackson it is my maiden name and my DS sirname you could always spell it Jaxon then its maybe less likely to be shortened?

On a plus note to my day I found in the paper shop chocolate covered mallow bananas mmmmmm they are soooo gooood

sophiewd · 18/04/2008 18:25

Cleaners - mine is fab a whirlwind that usually gathers me up in decluttering as well.

Refused to book babysitter as it is always me saying shall we go out and booking, just wanted DH to prove he could do it and obviosuly can't.

Parofleurmapu · 18/04/2008 18:28

Well spent nice day chillng dp works part time on fridays so we had nice afternoon together. Me laying on bed watching him paint the bedroom !!! ive convinced him that now LO room is done ours needs a spruce up before she comes!!

bitofadramaqueen · 18/04/2008 18:54

sophie if he forgot to book the baby sitter then he should stay in and you should go out!

Not much planned this weekend - lots more revision (eek, exam only 2 1/2 weeks away). Friend popping round tonight but tbh I'd rather just put my feet up and watch some tv with DH.

paro well done on convincing dp to spruce up your bedroom. Totally right to get it done just now. My hall, kitchen and both bathrooms need doing but I'm chief decorator in our house so no chance they'll get done before LO comes. I guess along with being fabulous mother and domestic goddess I'll finish the decorating as well while on mat leave.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

sophiewd · 18/04/2008 20:03

Its OK I am subjecting him to an hour of swimming with our very demanding DD tomoroow he can do the constant climbing up the steps, into the jacuzzi, running around the pool and then the screaming because she doesn't want to get out.

Upsidedowncake · 19/04/2008 10:07

Oh my goodness. I haven't posted for 36 hours and there are already 110 messages!

Paro, sounds good that you have been signed off. I used to teach Primaria when I was in Spain and can imagine what that would do to your BP.

What was your BP? - I have been having BP problems too. Now I'm a civil servant and have been able to limit my work to writing reports only, so they have agreed that I will work at home until my maternity leave starts.

I phoned work yesterday to say that docs are fine for me to work at home but don't want me in the office because of my BP (down from 145 / 86 on Wednesday to 110 / 76 yesterday). Two hours later, I get a call (on my day off!) to say, 'Can I be on call over the weekend as the client may need to contact me as they are working over the weekend in response to my latest report?' ... Have found a compromise but thought they were rather taking the piss!

Have moved my mat leave from 38 weeks to 36 weeks because of BP so only five more weeks to go!

Debs, congratulations to your father. Elvis wedding/ Wow!

Sorry about everyone's SPD. Roll on those babies!

Hope Neenz is OK.

We've had our cleaner for 6 years. She's madder than a box of frogs, but in general does a good job and is very honest. She has VIEWS about things that does not hesitate to pass on, but we can deal with that.

Upsidedowncake · 19/04/2008 10:08

Wigeon, sorry, I didn't mean to overstep the mark. I wasn't sure if you knew about them, as they tend to not always be well-publicised locally!

Parofleurmapu · 19/04/2008 10:23

Morning all
Upiside- where in spain were you?

My BP was 148/98 and as im on 3 tablets a day of trandate 100mg it shouldnt have got that high. Im now on 200mg twice a day and 100mg mid day !! I too had reduced my leave to stop at 35 weeks instead of 38 but now stopped at 32!!

But touch wood yesterday and today its been 130/89 ish so its more or less getting better.

Its my bday tomorrow and we have 10 friends round for lunch!!! I invited them before i went into hospital so BBQ plans have changed and we are just gonna get ready made stuff that can be thrown into bowls!!! They all said they are bringing something and if DP has anything to do with it i wont do anything!! He is very protective now and wont let me lift a finger hehe!!!

Oh well off to do some studying as have two assignments due tomorrow and im not working on my bday!!!

Upsidedowncake · 19/04/2008 10:41

!Hola Paro!

I can see why they signed you off. Oh my goodness. Have you been diagnosed with pre-eclampsia?

I feel very lucky as have avoided medication - have just been signed off / ordered to work from home. There was protein in urine yesterday though, so still need to go to docs a lot.

I taught primaria in Murcia for two years after spending a year in Salamanca - both specialising in English. Then I worked for a major ELT publisher for three years and travelled round the whole peninsula (but sadly never Canarias) to research new textbooks. Do you specialise in English or are you a general 'maestra'?

Happy birthday for tomorrow. It's my birthday next Saturday as well.

Parofleurmapu · 19/04/2008 12:10

They did a protein test in hospital and it came back negative. Although now have to do 24hr one to check. I had high blood pressure before pregnancy i was diagnosed 2 years ao when i had a massive migraine and my BP was really high, so been on meds to control it for couple years now. They dont know why i have high blood pressure no reason at all its not weight, salt etc just one of those things!!

I am currently working in a British school as a nursery nurse but im studying for my Magisterio de Primaria degree as i want to work in the spanish system (more pay and more opportunities to move up the scale) I might change jobs was LO has settled down interested in bilingual schools that British Council are opening.

Well off to shop for party ! Your b day is same day as my sisters!!!

debinaustria · 19/04/2008 12:55

HI Upside down and Paro - sorry to hear about your BP problems. Enjoy your Birthday tomorrow Paro, make the most of dh waiting on you hand and foot!

Nothing much to report from Austria, apart from coughs and sneezes and sleepless nights. Having a quiet day in today , hopefully will feel better tomorrow and then we'll take the boys out somewhere.

josey · 19/04/2008 13:03

Morning

Wow Paro that is high bp do you feel different when your bp is as high as that? glad you dp is being very protective

Upsidedown Im suprised you havent been set to hospital with 2 sysmptons I was told it is straight to a hospital bed....I think your work is taking the piss by the way I dont blame you for moving your leave forward.

Debs how did the wedding go have you heard?

Sophie has your DH survived swimming?hope it was with a stinking hangover

Starting to get a bit worried here as I felt the head banging quite low this morning while out walking the dog hope this little one doesnt decide to make a sharp exit!!!

debinaustria · 19/04/2008 15:27

HI Josey

No, haven't heard from the happy couple, didn't really expect to!! I spoke to them beforehand to wish them well.

Baby's been headbutting me low down too, I'd be happy for him to arrive earlier but not this early !

sophiewd · 19/04/2008 15:34

Hello all, DH survived swimming and the screaming child who didn't want to get out of the pool. He doesn't drink a huge amount when he goes out, its just that he goes out. Aua natal hurt today on hips and pelvic area even though I didn't do much so roll on physio on Monday.

On a happier note, getting to see my broher tomorrow, havent seen him since we got married, it is his 50th birthday so my sister is doing a lunch party for him. DD gets to meet the rest of her cousins which will be great.

goingfor3 · 19/04/2008 15:41

Hello all,

I had a lovely couple of days where I did manage to get a good rest. Now I'm back at home it's not so easy to rest!

Didn't manage to catch up on all of the thread as you've been so busy!

DLM DD1's name is a real mouthful but we never shorten it though at nearly 7 years old her friends sometimes shorten it which was bound to happen. Though with dd2 we have used her shortened name from about 2 weeks as it suits her better.

Parofleurmapu · 19/04/2008 16:16

nope josey dont always feel different sometimes i get a slight headache but normally it just creeps up without me realising.

LO head is banging low too today actually its quite painful and makes me want to pee all the time heheh!!!

Hope you all better tomorrow debs and you can get out even if its just a walk

Wigeon · 19/04/2008 19:30

Upsidedowncake - don't apologise at all - I thought it was really sweet and thoughtful that you'd bothered to look at my profile to see where I lived and give me the tip! Thank you!

Sorry to hear you and Parofleurmapu are suffering with the blood pressure...

By the way Upside, I'm a civil servant too - are you central or local govt? Which dept if central govt? I am slightly terrified about how much I've got to get done in my 5 remaining weeks - probably including starting off a big procurement for a project (something I've never done), finishing phase 1 of another project, a bunch of routine ministerial stuff which just keeps coming, and the person I manage has just been signed off sick for a week minimum (she's got MS) so I need to cover her work too. At least I feel pretty well at the moment - fingers very crossed that continues!

Upsidedowncake · 19/04/2008 19:56

Phew, Wigeon! I'm central government too: COI and have a communications (editorial) consultancy role. Most of my work is for DH - hence my extensive knowledge of Children's Centres, etc! Which Department are you? It sounds like you have a lot to do before you go off - can they do anything to help you?

Josey, thanks. My BP has never been as high as Paro's, so no hospital yet [phew]. It was borderline on Weds, but had dropped to a pretty good level by yesterday. It seems to be stress-related but there is a small chance it can cause p-e. I feel I am very well looked-after. I told work that I would only take one phone call at a certain time this weekend and they and client said they would try not to call.

Sophie, did you have a lovely time with your brother?

Debs, hope you feel better soon.

Hi G43. Glad you got a tiny bit of a break and found us again!

libralady · 19/04/2008 19:57

Evening all.
Sorry to hear about all the SPD/germ problems as well as high blood pressure.

After my MW appt on Monday she sent me for my 28 week bloods (a little late granted) and it appears I am anaemic so Dr has prescribed me Pregaday, however there is a supplier problem around here.

Managed to get another prescription for iron and folic acid tablets. Not too sure why he's prescrined folic acid at this late stage (i'm nearly 30 weeks).

Anyway, I'm planning on working until 38+3 all being well, as I can only afford to take 12 weeks mat leave (that's all I get on full pay before SMP starts and I'm the primary earner) unless of course I win the lottery in the meantime.

I have applied for 12 months, but as long as I give 4 weeks notice I can go back at any point. Would rather have the time with the baby than being sat at home waiting, although I am getting very tired and uncomfortable now.

Very jealous of those with cleaners. Wish I could afford one, although I don't envy the unreliability you seem to be experiencing.

Sorry about the long post.

debinaustria · 20/04/2008 08:31

Can I have a moan? Another rough night here, awake every 2 hours to cough and wee, this morning I feel like my head will explode. Dh is still poorly too but both boys are OK . It's a beautiful day and we were going to take the boys out somewhere but no chance. ds1 has said he'll make dinner if we just want sandwiches. aah

goingfor3 · 20/04/2008 08:41

debs so sorry to hear you are all still feeling rough, your ds1 is so cute and thoughtful!

I had really bad heartburn last night and am sure I overdosed on Rennies, I think I should keep a limited number by my bedside not a jumbo packet! DP has taken dd1 out for the day and IL's are taking dd2 out later so I get some time to myself which I have to use getting my room ready for my cot. Hopefully dp will be back in time to get the cot from the loft for me.

goingfor3 · 20/04/2008 08:57

I ordered my car seat this morning which is really exciting for me as it's the only big new thing we needed to buy, I chose this one because I love the fabric design (I'm sure a boy won't mind)
