neenz that is really exciting -loads of luck.

makescakes - I am impressed you found 8 sites that gave you measurements -i have only found M&S so far that was direct. Which others did you use? Suspect I may have gone up AGAIN - I thought you were only supposed to go up one or two sizse - gone from 34 b to 36 E...

bitofadramaqueen · 01/05/2008 20:59

makecakes do you have a bravissimo near you? I'd definitely recommend them, or your local NCT will have a bra lady that can measure you. The last thing you want is a badly fitted bra! Also, if the size isn't quite right after the birth the NCT will change it no problem.

poppy - I'm refusing to buy any more maternity bras and am just waiting till after 36 weeks to get measured for nursing bra. I've just bought some bra extenders because one of my maternity bras is really tight on the rib cage.

I've been reasonably lucky. I was fairly big-boobed to start so the maternity bras I got measured for at the start of 2nd trimester are still fine (or will be with the extenders).

katyjo · 01/05/2008 21:19

Wow Neenz! I better get my bag packed. Can't belleve that your babies will be here so soon.
Congratulations! Make sure you put an early request in for tv and internet connection, we'll all chip in, can't wait to hear your news!

bitofadramaqueen · 01/05/2008 21:52

Aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhhh! I think my belly button is now about to pop. Between that and my disappearing ankles, I've changed my mind .

Thankfully, both DH and I found somewhere still selling creme eggs so have 8 in the fridge. Off to have one (or two) to cheer myself up. (No wonder my bloody thighs are so huge).

Sybil hope you are feeling better im also trying to behave its bloody awful

I havent done a bag yet even just incase cant find one to start with lol got hospital visit on sat thought I should be safe than sorry as never been to this hospital before.

I forgot to share with you all the amuzing comment from MW at AN class this week-it was on breast feeding, she said unless you have some kind of amazing sex life non of you will have had your nipples sucked for up to 8 hours a day so dont expect your bobs to feel normal!!! what made it funnier wasthe only DH that turned up that day rapidly made excusses and left

Pear tart the giraffe my amuze ur DH for a little while so you could keep his bag out for dd to play with

debinaustria · 01/05/2008 22:35

Anyone elses inner thermostat set on high - I've been absolutely boiling today!!

Peartart - I'm going to enjoy your posts you have a great sense of humour!! your dd sounds a delight, - my boys are very used to me applying the non stretch mark (hah!) cream, and last time my 6 year old rubbed it in for me!!

Dramaqueen - my bellybutton has also popped and my cankles are coming on nicely.

So many people at the May day thing today looked at me in a disbelieving way when I said I still had 4 weeks to go, I'm still getting"You'll never last 4 weeks", "I'll give you 2", "are you sure it's not twins?" One woman I didn't know took a double take, and asked "a baby?" - I should bloody hope so or I'm in serious trouble!!!!

Was looking in a pregnancy book today with boys to show them how baby is developing, then when they'd gone I flicked through the labour pages - 6 years is a long time but it's all coming flooding back and I'm going to have to do all that again , in an Austrian hospital, do you think it's too late to say, sorry I don't think #3 is a good idea?

debinaustria · 01/05/2008 22:42

Just found this comforting photo Hurrah for post baby bellies!!!

debinaustria · 01/05/2008 22:43

Own up, who bought this - wasn't Makecakes picking up a Silver Cross pram the other day????

debinaustria · 02/05/2008 06:14

Where is everyone? Forget all I said about sleeping well, had an awful night, awake for ages in the middle of the night worrying about baby, labour, hospital bags, etc...etc...

Hope you all slept better than me.

Neenz - how are you this morning?

libralady · 02/05/2008 06:16

Debs

I'm here. I've been up since 3.30!

Good luck Neenz

sophiewd · 02/05/2008 07:23

I am here too, you haven't been deserted.

debinaustria · 02/05/2008 07:27

Thank goodness, I thought I'd done something wrong. Have started my hospital bag packing!!!

Off to buy my balcony flowers - 14 window boxes to fill

Please try not to chat too much whilst I've gone

sophiewd · 02/05/2008 07:30

My stuff is all just sitting there waiting to be packed, not going to pack before 2nd June, baby cannot come before then, I will not allow it.

Have fun flower shopping, do you want to come and do my breakfasts this weekend?

ErnestTheBavarian · 02/05/2008 07:59

Good morning all.

Neenz - very exciting news - enjoy your last weekend of sanity

Debs, I'm getting the opposite - all my comments are about how small my bump is and surprise I've got so little time left, I'm starting to get paranoid I've not looked after myself well enough. Got my 1st German doc visit this morning, so hope it all goes ok and we can have a sensible brith convo and a few hints about hospitals.

My dh helpfully told my boys that a long time ago - actually not that long ago, lots of women used to die in childbirth . I interrupted in a jolly sing song voice that it didn't really happen anymore and the hospitals here are sure to be very good. I couldn't even kick or thump him as I was driving. He realised after he'd opened his big gob that it probably wasn't the best thing to say to a 4, 6 & 8 year old sensitive little boy just 5 weeks before their mummy is due to give birth

AM intending to take advantage of sunshine + fil visit = getting lawn mowed. Was my job in last house, as dh has pathological fear of having to say hello to a neighbour. Again, I say . Still, this house, our garden doesn't really ajoin anyone's, plus it's about 3 or 4 times the size, so he's gonna have to do it (she says bravely/optimistically/ in bitter knowledge he bleeding well won't).

Has anyone moved with a cat before? Our vet said to keep her in for a month. She escaped yesterday (unbeknown to us) and as we returned home she ran up, and did come back, so don't know if we can just let her out or should wait a while longer? She's been in a week now.

Hope you all have lovely sunshine where you are. Wish me luck at docotrs.

BTW, am astonished how many men wear Lederhosen Unfortunately nad disturbingly, while the younger men wear knee length ones, it's the older men (say 60 puls) in really short sort ones (puke), coupled with the bizarre half-sock thing. Really not a good look. seriously not attractive, and you see it everywhere, especially overweight fat old blokes

sophiewd · 02/05/2008 08:05

MOrning Ernest.

Sat here giggling about the lederhosen, thank you for cheering up my morning.

I think if your cat escaped and then came back she should be OK by now. we were always told 5 days.

Good luck with the Doctor this morning.

splodgesmum · 02/05/2008 08:24

Debs, I'm glad you're not the only one who's been asked if you're having twins - if one more person says "are you sure there's only one in there" I think I'll punch them!! I have had dozens of scans, I can categorically confirm there's only one!

Thanks for the honest Halle Berry photo - people at work were showing me her red carpet appearance photo which was rather different! Good to know she was just cheating like the rest of us!

Ernest, we've moved with cats and were also advised to keep them in - fat chance! We managed a couple of days and then had to let them out (well, they actually escaped!) and they were fine. Just keep them away from the men in lederhosen as that might traumatize them!

Rolf, I was looking for a book called "Childbirth without Pain" but I don't think that exists!

Well, I better go - last day at work today, hurrah!!

angel2406 · 02/05/2008 08:25

hi there all,
im lorraine, my 1st baby is due june 24th, so exciting, little 1 seems to move alot more in late evenings or when relaxing, though today only 15 mins ago 8.15am there was a flutter or 2.
love to keep in contact with new mums to be.

Parofleurmapu · 02/05/2008 08:34

Morning all

Wow neenz, cool our first birth. Good luck

Makecakes you seem exactly like me, very organised. I love lists! i have bags packed with a list on top too! Also showed Dp where the last few things were just in case i cant move to get them!!!

Ernest - people keep saying same to me! I only have bout 4/5 weeks to go and when i tell people that they look at me as if to say really? are you sure thats right!!!

Cant remember who recommended the book Can any mother help me? but i ordered it and its now in my hospital bag, its my read incase i get taken in early or in case im one of those people who can breeze through contractions reading a book
(paro goes and buries head very deep in sand!!!)

Parofleurmapu · 02/05/2008 08:36

Morning angel and welcome!
Well we are a very chatty bunch on here and go through a range of subjects!

Its my first baby too and she is the same, more active in the evening. Its exciting isnt it? A couple of us on here are first timers too.

aberdeenhiker · 02/05/2008 08:58

neenz - how exciting! And it's so great that your twins are already a good size.
(I'm so far behind since I wasn't on yesterday - trying to catch up...)

josey - crossing my fingers for you that the baby doesn't show up until your DH is firmly on land. Mine got home last night and I told him that he's not allowed go offshore after the 10th of May. I had Braxton-Hicks like mad when he was gone and was starting to think about who of my friends I'd pick for a birth partner.

Hope your swelling goes down too - I'm just a wee bit swollen here but nothing bad.

spoldgesmum - I suspect your midwife is not the best source of info - some women (like me) find childbirth agony, others seem to not feel as much and I don't think it has anything to do with pain thresholds... it's just the luck of the draw, so cross your fingers!

going43 - if dd1 came at 38 weeks, when did your second come at? I'm asking because my DS came at 38 weeks and I'm having a hard time focusing on 40 weeks this time around!

but my bags still aren't packed and I'm 35 weeks! I haven't even got the newborn clothes out of the loft yet. I've just realized I need to pack a bag for DS too as he'll be going to stay at a friend's house...

and hello to all the new people joining the list!

sophiewd · 02/05/2008 09:19

I have done a really sad thing as well, I have already booked a baby sitter for the 19th so hat DH can go and celebrate. How kind am I.

bitofadramaqueen · 02/05/2008 09:20

Morning all! I'm officially on leave now until my exam next week. If I'm on here too much I'm not doing enough studying so chase me away .

Morning all, welcome angel

I've got a half packed bag (going shopping for more this weekend) and Bug has an almost finished bag (just need to get some muslins...) DP still not started his, but will mention the need for shorts etc as he is always hot (even in the dead of winter).

Good luck neenz you are making it seem much more real for me - if you have your babies, then I'm defnintely going to have mine... only 5 weeks to go!
