Afternoon everyone

DYlansmum, LOL. How offensive was the nappy?

Josie, tee hee.

Paro, glad your appointment was OK. what a wonderful afternoon! LOL re taxi driver.

I find I get uncomfortable when I have eaten too much. It only goes away when I lie down.

Unfortunately I now have some work to do. For a change it's not the NHS. I have some writing to do, which I haven't done for about three years - though UGH, it's for our annual report and it's a feature about our internal review and restructure - and I also have a review of a document about flooding.

Rolf, LOL, can you get a very, very small dog that requires little walking (or, say, a guinea pig!)? Suggest you tell your DH that he can't name the dog until he's named the baby.

sophiewd · 28/04/2008 15:32

Afternoon all and lovong the stories of pregnancy brains. Had physio this morning and we have sorted out that is not SPD but frozen muscles and now feling much better.

Just come back from an hour on the beach with DD, not quite 27 degrees but still sunny.

Rolf - I agree with you about shopping, we are going to accountant on wednesday and will buy all the last bits and pieces then and thats it can pack my bag.

mellymell · 28/04/2008 16:00

Hi all

Had written a message full of flair and wit, then had to back track pages to remind myself who had done what without saving it, so you'll just have to do with the usual waffle.

rolf - LOL that you are having to bargain wtih your husband about naming the child before naming the dog. Have a similar problem with my DH who when asked for suggestions just comes up with Horatio, Alphonso or Humperdink. Just hope he's not being serious.

To the person who was gardening on the weekend (can't risk backtracking again without losing my train of thought) - digging out dandelions on all fours is a very good position for the back and the baby. Spent much of Saturday doing it - but the little blighters - just when you think you've cleared them all, you suddenly spot another.

Spent most of my weekend either digging up dandelions or putting together flatpack Ikea furniture - feel very proud of myself completing my Krypton factor (read Ikea) task with only 1 extra screw left over!!

Ooh and one last thing - for those having difficulties with the whole sitting thing - get your exercise balls out - very comfy to sit on and also great fun for DC to sit on your lap and also have a bounce. My DS is convinced that this is his toy and is rather proprietorial over it!

needahand · 28/04/2008 16:27

Humperdink? I had never heard that name before!

I second the exercise balls mine is my life saver.

I am having a crap day again at work (courtesy of my cover I know have to review an horrendous contract by close of play today. It is so vile I won't have finish. After that I will only have 2 days left to finish everything I wanted to finish before ML instead of having a week. I will never managed) and in my personal life, keep having loads of bad new ranging from mildy annoying (problem with stupid bank and their charges) to completely heartbreaking (SIL has a mental disorder and it seems she has blown her little fuses again).

It seems that everything is all to much. Completely depressed today.

mellymell · 28/04/2008 17:00

needahand - so sorry you're having a crap day. lots of virtual hugs - go and have a bounce on your ball - even if it doesn't achieve anything, it's so silly that it will cheer you up.

whinegums · 28/04/2008 17:02

Afternoon all. Needahand - oh dear. Sorry to hear you're having such a bad day.

I've just had good news - SIL has popped a baby girl today, so I'm an auntie again - number 2. All fit and well.

Laura - what are you knitting? I've made some cardies, hats and stuff, some stuff for new niece and I'm doing a crossover top for a friend's little girl at the moment. And then I'm going to start with crazily intricate blanket for the monster. Then again, might just make a simple one instead.

Think I'll finally take exercise ball out of its box and blow it up today....

Paro - v jealous of 27 degrees and lunch in the garden, I've just got soaked!!!

needahand · 28/04/2008 17:14

Melly thanks for commiseration I seem to be ranting all the time these days. I am bouncing on my ball but it isn't cheering me up (and there are some side effects)

I can't wait for my holidays on Friday...oh to get away from it all!

I am eating winegums to cheer me up (not our whinegum though) but I am sure after the initial rush of sugar I will feel fat and guilty!

Whinegums congrats to your SIL. Don't know what to do with mine (SIL that is)
I am knitting a baby's blanket but it is taking sooooooooo long! I am not a beginner but not an ace either. Wanted to knit more things but I don't think I will have time!

at those of you having afternoon on the beach/in the garden.

whinegums · 28/04/2008 17:17

Needahand, rants are good - get it out of your system!!! Winegums good too (I scoffed half a bag when I was driving today and it was a very short drive!) - no need to feel guilty for those!

Neenzandhertwinbeans · 28/04/2008 17:23

needahand, sorry you feel so crap. It is hard when you have a job like yours - I was very grateful of the fact that I could just stay at home if I needed to and my work would get done by someone else (it's just that sort of job where things need to be done immediately so if I wasn't there it wasn't like things were building up). Once you have started ML it will be bliss and you can forget about your rubbish cover (and actually feel quite smug that his incompetence is going to make you look brilliant.

Rolf, LOL at your dog story. Wow you must have had a real moment of weakness there! The mistake you made is leting DH think it was YOUR dream to have four kids. You should have made him think it was his idea But if he can drag his heels on getting the baby stuff out of storage I am sure you can drag out the dog buying (hope so!) My sis has 3 kids and wants another but her DH says no way. I am sure if he was promised a dog he'd give in too! Men eh?

needahand · 28/04/2008 17:39

Thank Neen but let's just put one thing straight: I am brilliant don't need my maternity cover to make me look brilliant and then at own arrogance (I am only joking of course).

I am just really resentful of the fact that I wanted to tied things in nicely and make sure everything is in order before I leave and now because of his incompetence I won't be able to and will just leave things in a mad rush. And I wanted to enjoy my last few days stress free knowing I had done everything I should etc IYSWIM.

That blo-dy contract is 75 pages long, I am only on page 25 and I was expected to turn it over in one day and now because it is impossible I feel I am letting people down when it is not my fault to start with

katyjo · 28/04/2008 18:25

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the advice re cramping pains, I think the baby may have dropped and it was stretching. The bra lady that measured me at the babyshow reckoned I had a space so thinks baby is starting to engage, will check with mw next week, probably just my muscles giving up the ghost!!

Sorry your having a shit time needahand there is nothing worse than having to clear up someone elses mess! I know you won't have the stress free finish you wanted, but at least you won't have to worry about work soon. I'm sorry to hear about your sil too, is that your brothers wife or dh sister, it must be so difficult, thoughts with you and yours.

mellymel balls are great, although my ds thinks it is his toy now and wants me to get off it so he can play on it, kind of backfired, but at least he's having fun!

libralady · 28/04/2008 18:42

Well the holiday is all systems go. MW gave me my certificate to fly, so this time next week I will have been on the beach and will now probably be in some lovely taverna having a fantastic meal.

I'm off to Kefalonia (one of the Greek Ionian Islands) and it will be my 5th time there. Can't wait.

Dylansmum Yes thanks for the link for the holiday insurance. Managed to get it all sorted and am covered upto 36 weeks.

Sorry I haven't read through all the posts yet, so will catch up later.

P.S. Despite everyone saying how small I am (even though I am a bigish girl) and the fact that I haven't put on any weight yet (still 3lb under my pre-pregnancy weight) my MW got the tape measure out today and although I am only 30+6 I'm measuring 32 weeks. Had great delight in telling that to MIL as she is trying to scaremonger me!

Rolf · 28/04/2008 18:55

Sorry you're having such a bad day, Needahand.

I can't find my big bouncy ball (pregnabrain - can't remember what they are really called!). Don't know if it's in the black hole aka storage or somewhere in our horribly messy house.

debinaustria · 28/04/2008 18:58

Great news Libralady, hope you have a great time.

Needahand - sorry you're having a rough day

I feel fat - anyone else?

bitofadramaqueen · 28/04/2008 19:22

I cant remember not feeling fat deb. And all the local shops appear to have run out of creme eggs so cant even cheer myself up with one.

Went to see a nursery today - only about 10 minutes walk. I was KNACKERED! Keep telling myself that its because I'm over 7 months pregnant but know in my heart that it's because I haven't walked the length of myself since getting pregnant .

OP posts:
PregnantPenguin · 28/04/2008 19:34

I am fat.

Rolf · 28/04/2008 19:35

I'm actually having one of my delusions where I think I'm the most gorgeous pregnant woman in the world. We have no full-length mirrors in our house. When I come across one I realise that I actually look like Mr Greedy . (very low, very pointy bump!). I must say that I rather resent the neck and chin fat - surely the baby doesn't need any fat to be stored there.

Libralady - your holiday sounds wonderful. Very .

bitofadramaqueen · 28/04/2008 19:59

pp - you're not fat, you're pregnant! (Dont you hate it when people say that to you ).

I felt better when I saw Ulrika Johnson on telly the other day. Sorry, that's probably evil of me.

alipalli · 28/04/2008 20:30

OMG, I am so tired.

I had to go into C. London today for meetings from 9 - 5. By 4pm I had my head on the desk (seriously) in front of 15 colleagues. Do any of you do proper London commuting? If so, much respect is due.

Thankfully this is my last trip to London before I finish work this Wednesday. Tomorrow I have NCT in the morning which I double booked against another London meeting that I was meant to be chairing . This has been my worst instance of pregnancy brain to date (or mad cow disease as my boss kindly calls it). I opted for NCT as I've paid for it, and I have flattered the new guy at work who has a bit of a God/David Brent complex into chairing the meeting for me.

NCT tomorrow is the first "ladies only" session. Not done my homework yet, will have to blag it.

alipalli · 28/04/2008 20:31

Forgot to say, that during the long meeting at work today I discovered that my back has gone fat as squishy.

tassisssss · 28/04/2008 20:36

deb, i didn't think i was fat until i wore my linen trousers yesterday that i wore heaps to the end last pregnancy and they felt a bit tight!

I'm tired and sore. had ds's 5th birthday party...dinosaur theme...here in the house on Saturday with about 20 kids. Great but utterly exhausting! I have a physio app for Wed, think tomorrow'll be my last day of work though I can be flexible. I'm pretty sure baby's still breech which is tedious.

Hope everyone's doing ok.

tassisssss · 28/04/2008 20:37

oh and I found my birthing ball thingy, lovely dh went to the garage and inflated it, only to discover the wee nozzle bit that's needed to keep all the air in is lost. Can't decide if it's worth buying another. Did really like it last time...

Upsidedowncake · 28/04/2008 20:39

Needahand, sorry that you were having such a lousy day. And sorry about your SIL - may I ask what problem she has? My DM has fairly severe mental health problems so can empathise.

LL, how are you still 3 pounds UNDER your pre-pregnancy weight? Wow. I have put on 18 pounds and thought that was pretty good. (Am size 14 so have put on less than skinny minnies, though have tremendous thunder thighs and enormous flapping bosoms) Great news on your holiday!

What's the deal with Ulrika Johnson?

DH just back late again from another three-hour meeting with Australian boss. Roll on Saturday when he goes.

sophiewd · 28/04/2008 20:53

I am fat, but have put on only 1.5 stone so think thats OK.

I commute to the village shop and possibly to the beach most days.

My daughter today found a fishing net without the pole and waore it like a fencing mask much to the amusement of all the people on the beach who also enjoyed having garbled conversations with her. She is not backward in coming forward. When I have my other computer working (the one with the phots on) I will post a picture of her.

bitofadramaqueen · 28/04/2008 21:19

Oh, feel mean for mentioning Ulrika when all us pregnant gals should be sticking together. Feature in last week's heat magazine (well, I need something light-hearted to offset the studying) showed pics of Nicole Kidman (who looks like she just maybe had a big lunch at 6 months pregnant) and Ulrika who (their words) was not looking like a 'yummy mummy'. I then saw her briefly on tv yesterday and she was seriously bloated - hence me feeling better about my own fatness. Off to examine stretch marks on thighs as punishment.

UDcake - i was a 12 pre-pregnancy and now a 14. My thighs are absolutely huge. Curse that full-length mirror on the wall.
