Arrgh! Just done long post and PC crashed out - that's my punishment for posting on MN rather than writing statements which is what I should be doing!

Rolf, sorry for your loss. That must be so hard on you and your cousins.

Needahand and others, thanks for the reminders on pelvic floor exercises - need to start doing them I suppose!

As for Myers Briggs - I'm an ENFP and the description is scarily accurate! I have always wanted to be a journalist too which is apparently one of the best professions I could be in - maybe mat leave will give me a chance to rethink my career options, after all I'll have so much spare time to sit and think once the baby's born!

Talking of journalism - I'm going to be in My Weekly tomorrow, an article about my struggle to become a mummy if anyone's interested.

needahand · 23/04/2008 10:30

Right need to go and do some work for a change as I have a big presentation tomorrow in a room full of lawyers (great)

I just thought I would recommend this website
www.mamaway.co.uk/ShopStyle/rgcj3/ShowGoods.asp?category_id=1&parent_id=0

(sorry don't know how to link). It has loads of nursing clothes and they seem quite cheap too. I thought they might be of interest to some of you.

Splodgesmum - not convinced that maternity leave is the best time to do a career assesment but who knows. Will see if I can get my hands on My Weekly tomorrow (never head of this publication)

See you later

libralady · 23/04/2008 10:54

I'm an ESFJ. Quite scary really!

splodgesmum · 23/04/2008 11:03

Needahand, I promise you I was only joking about the career assessment! I plan to be a SAHM for a while anyway so no need to worry about careers for a while!

I'd never heard of My Weekly til I was asked to be in it - it's v popular amongst the over-50s apparently!

Have fun with the lawyers!

josey · 23/04/2008 11:04

Morning
Well I had the Mw first things this moring and everything is fine though the head isnt in it is brimming so everytime I bend or walk too quickly madam is headbutting the hell out of my pubic bone. Although it hurts im so greatful its not further down..at only 34 weeks I have been warned that I blue light it to the hospital with pervious history. On they way out some horrid man tripped up my DD she burst her lip open and he didnt even say sorry if she haddnt been in such a bloody, snotty mess I would have rammed my wee bottle up his nose
Think I will let the housework do itself for the next week or so

Rolf hope today goes ok for you, how sad for your cousins.

I did the link last night but cant remember what it was will try again later though will no doubt have a different result the way I am just now.

Ernest I sympathis DD had a fight with her brother in her sleep last night...well she was dreaming she did so I got the brunt of it....when I was expecting her dd wanted to call her Anakin or Chubacka(sp?)

mellymell · 23/04/2008 11:08

josey - Quick question - (BTW virtual hug to your poor little DD; some people are horrible) - is the pain against your pubic bone like a stabbing pain - as if your baby is headbutting your bladder? I keep having this and having to stop what I'm doing to take a sharp intake of breath.

makecakesnotwar · 23/04/2008 11:10

Morning all-

where the bloody hell has the sun gone?? Thank od DH is working from home so I have someone to help with socks and shoes....

Dog currently sleeping across my right wrist so typing one-handed. Pins and needles are distracting me from thoughts of forgotten pelvic floor exercises and groaning pelvis (seriously- the bones now rub against each other- it's gross!)

Welcome jivegirl/lady/bunny- hope you can keep up!!

Have done the wee test thing and I am INFJ (I think)- don't know really what it means, but the short version is a hermit who is big on morals...might have to work on that or baby cakes will never see daylight!

Ernest- again, you are my hero. I have no idea where you get the energy. Hope the move goes well. The contract arrived for our move this morning. Eek.

Debs- glad the earache seems to be receeding.

Sure there was lots I wanted to say but have to waddle of to the loo. Only three weeks left...

HAppy St George's Day.

needahand · 23/04/2008 11:10

Splodegsmum - I know you were joking. It is never fun with lawyers. And I am sure it will go on and on. Last time we had the same type of meeting it lasted 6 hours.

Josey - glad baby is hanging there. So cross for your DD some people are so horrible aren't they. Would also have chucked my wee at him I think

nettiehay · 23/04/2008 11:11

I'm an ESFJ too...

I'm finding myself knackered by the time I get home too - I was in bed by 9pm last night and falling asleep reading my book... in fact I was falling asleep on the sofa before I went to bed, so really it was about 8.30pm... hats off to those with LO's to put to bed and chase after!

mellymell · 23/04/2008 11:17

nettie I think 'chase' is a slight overestimation of the slow waddle now adopted to pursue small wriggly people. Am developping my vocal chords instead and a school marm tone of voice - which has no effect on him whatsoever.

dylansmumplusone · 23/04/2008 11:28

yes chasing is definitely not the word i would use! i can't let ds off the harness in the open bit of the park because he runs away and i can't keep up with him.

josey some people just need a smack. on your behalf!

thanks for that website needahand i love the tshirt style top.

thegreenfairy · 23/04/2008 11:28

Morning. Glad to hear all is okay Josey.

Clearly preggy brain is playing its tricks. Spent yesterday evening putting together an Ikea flatpack, having to drill new holes because the parts didn't fit, and then swearing because some of the bits included were wrong.

Then, at about half ten I realised that actually the holes and the parts were fine (ooer). I'd just been trying to attach the wrong bits to each other. [smacks head emoticon].

Needless to say, DH was most amused. Not that he'd know one end of a flatpack from the other!

Anyhoo, the new house is starting to look like a home and it turns out my brother in law is going to help us move on Friday as well so we should get it done even quicker. I just have to drive the van and 'direct' which, as an ENTJ (AKA fieldmarshall, same as Margaret Thatcher -eeek) shouldn't be a problem at all

PiggyPenguin · 23/04/2008 11:28

Hi everyone, hope you are all ok, and blimey Josey - are you still around? You need to reassure us that you are ok today and not in the process of giving birth or something.

RE pelvic floor muscles - I am so bad at remembering these, and I do have the occasional 'accident', normally when sneezing. I find that the only time I remember is when weeing, as I think one of them is trying to hold your urine midflow. Of course I remember, then I try, then I get upset at the fact that I can't hold anything and obviously have no pelvic floor left at all!

I went to see my mw yesterday and now I feel a bit worried. The baby is fine, head down, right size etc., but when I mentioned that I still get really faint and my heart races, she really freaked me out. I had assumed that the heart racing was because my body was trying to pump more oxygen around me so I wouldn't pass out as threatened, and she agreed this was probably the case. But, she also said that if it continues I need to see my gp in case I have a heart condition!!!!!

So, basically I need you all to reassure me that I am obviously not about to die from an exploding heart. Honestly - I think I am going to give myself more palpitations than ever worrying about it!

PiggyPenguin · 23/04/2008 11:30

oops, spent too long writing message and missed seeing you were okay Josey, which is exceelent news!

nettiehay · 23/04/2008 11:46

okay - chase is not the word to use!

sybil I get faint and a racing heart too, and I'd put it down to the same things - not a heart condition. I am sure your midwife was slightly overreacting - but if it continues after Baby arrives, then you should see the GP... that seems the most sensible thing to do....

have just realised I only have 4 weeks left of work... and about 8 weeks worth of work to get done! panic!!

josey · 23/04/2008 11:52

Sybilvimes OMG!!! you would think she was trying to give you a heart condition

Mellymell yes it is similar to that not too bad with the bladder yet thankfully. But the sharp oo ouch on the bone is taking my breath away.

Forgot to say for all of you having homebirths MW said she will be out for my 38week appointment to deliver the G&A and I need to keep it in the shed or garage until it is needed and she will pass my details onto the local Firebrigade unfortunately not for my pleasure but just so they know I have explosives and I will need to phone my house insurance...Ive obviously been very blond on this and its just not entered my head at all!!!

needahand · 23/04/2008 12:07

Hmm i took the test apparently I am INFJ and idealist counsellor, which is funny because counselling is something I have always thought of one day going into.

sybil I too have a feeling your mw might be overreacting

josey I thought they were bringing the G&A when they were coming for labour. Didn't think they were storing it at the labouring woman's place!

josey · 23/04/2008 12:13

Needahand they bring it along with there kit so everything is there for you going into labour...It might be different in other places but thats the way they do it with me.

splodgesmum · 23/04/2008 12:18

needahand, I'm not contemplating a homebirth but as far as I'm aware it's now standard practice to deliver everything you might need a couple of weeks prior just in case MW doesn't get to you. My friend had such a fast birth (and a sloppy MW) that her dh delivered the baby and MW turned up half an hour later!

needahand · 23/04/2008 12:27

oh I didn't realise.. need to have a chat with IMW. Fast birth sounds good though..if only!

sophiewd · 23/04/2008 12:48

Hello all.

Blimey you are all very chatty this mornign, was going to post first thing but guests wanted their breakfasts an hour earlier so rushing around doing that.

Doctors was fine yesterday, my white cell count was up and they just wanted to check I was OK, BP is down though and I know why it was up, so won't be making that mistake again next week. Dr was a bit shocked about how little time was taking off and did ask whther we were going to have a third. I am able to walk so much better since I have seen the physio as well.

Ernest - good luck with the move, I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Debs - Austrian hospitals dound fab although definitely can't complain about ours, no need for wipes there.

Welcome to jivegirl.

Katyjo - breech births depends on experience of midwives, my friend had one last year but was second baby and she was determined and MW happy.

Rolf - hope the funeral went as well as to be expected.

Josey - hang in there, this one can't arrive until after May half term as we are fully booked.

bitofadramaqueen · 23/04/2008 13:10

hi everyone,

Aberdeen LOL at your INTJ post - me and the other INTJ in our company had a chat about how frustrated we get when other people don't 'get' what we think is quite simple. My teacher at school warned me about intolerance and its something I still battle with today .

For anyone who's done the quiz online - if you ever get the chance to do the full training at work then I really would recommend it. The questionnaire is a good indicator but a qualified trainer gets really into the detail and can reveal your true 'type' which may not always be revealed by the questionnaire along. Sorry, I'm being boring again - myers briggs training used a lot in my company and organised by my department. You can do 'team training' with myers briggs too which is a great way to develop how team members work together...

Rolf hope the funeral has gone ok today.

Deb thanks for the reassurance on the gas and air. I've decided not to rule it out completely but still looking at other options. Unfortunately, I was quite traumatised by my dentist thing (can still imagine the taste/horrible sensation/feeling like I was suffocating) and I'm scared that if I have gas and air in labour and it brings back any of those sensations it'll completely freak me out and have a really negative impact on labour. I'm far too cynical for hypnobirthing (but completely respect that fact that other people find it really helpful) so am hoping that accupressure might be a winner for me. If I find out anything interesting I'll share it with everyone.

Sybil - i think your MW is deffo overreacting... who on earth doesn't feel faint and heart-racy with their lungs squashed to the size of a couple of grapes? BTW - I find I get a bit of an adrenaline rush and racy heart when i get BHs at the moment.

Katyjo - you can still have a breech baby naturally... but maybe want to make sure you have a very confident mw... have you got an IM? they seem to be more clued up on these things. You can also try contacting Mary Cronk direct... I hear she's often v helpful with finding contacts etc and being reassuring.

Debs- wow - love where you live. I love that area of Austria too. And your hospital sounds like a treat.

Ernest - didn't realise you are in Germany too? Whereabouts? Really hope the move goes well.

Hello Jivegirl... i'm an impostor too as only just joined

Josey - glad you are not about to give birth just yet... I'm banking on you to give me inspiration for a HB! When's your due date? Mine is 5th June, although last one went 2.5weeks overdue, so could be July for all I know.

Rolf - sorry re. funeral. I went to one a week or so ago, and found it a bit difficult to manage the old hormones and weepiness even though it wasn't a close relative. Especially when they played 'Always look on the bright side of life' as carrying coffin out.

bitofadramaqueen · 23/04/2008 13:21

Ooh, we talked about natural breech birth at NCT classes last night. Our NCT teacher attended one just recently. The hospital arranged a rota of mw's who were prepared to support the natural birth. Unltimately, it depends on your hospital and whether the midwives have the experience/confidence to deliver a breech baby naturally. Definitely worth researching.

needahand - yes please to the pelvic floor reminders!

upsidedowncake - we're just getting into the Thomas obsession here, along with a passionate love of buses!

I can't keep up at all today! Glad you're okay josey - let's hope we all make it to May before the babies start arriving!
