Thanks Aberdeen hoping to hang on till end of May at least lol!!! Noone is around just now so I would be phoning you for birth partner lol!!! Keep meaning to ask how long till your M leave starts?

josey - my mat leave's not until the 22nd of May - but I'd be happy to take a day off to be your birth partner As long as we both don't go on the same day - we're both due on the 5th! I've had a talk with my belly though and made this one promise to stay put until the 19th of May (DH has a bike race in Pitlochry on the 18th and he's so excited about it!).

but I'll probably go overdue anyways - I keep saying that I'm due in 6 weeks and then reminding myself that means 8 weeks until I will have definitely given birth!

Which bits of Thomas have you got, Aberdeenhiker? Thomas trains and track is v expensive and you can get much cheaper track from ELC which Thomas runs on! V interesting - apparently, Thomas books very popular among speech and language therapists and specialists working with autistic spectrum children because the stories are all about feelings, and the trains wear their hearts on their sleeves.

Ernest, unPC comment suggest change 'sectioned' to 'C section' 6 June? We won't let the men in white coats come and get you.

Gas and air can be personal - I found it completely freaky. Epidural much more to my taste!

Ucake I noticed the bit about Ernest being sectioned and it made me PMSL! I hope all her hard work with the move won't mean she becomes bananas and ends up being sectioned!

Updated the list to add our baby boy

Did the test and I am something like the Protector Guardian, unfortunately whilst I did the test I wasn't very protective of my scones cooking and burnt the lot!!

When I went to pick up Tristan from Kindergarten he said he'd made something for the baby, have a look at my latest pic on my profile to see the blanket he has woven, it's taken him 2 days. He thinks the baby might use it as a comforter or maybe a pillow - how sweet Thankfully with the size of the photo you can't see the stretch marks, but my thighs look huge, obviously in real life they are stick like

and I AM FEELING BETTER - hurrah, no more whingeing from me on here for a day or so at least!! So today I have hoovered, ironed, washed,made space for baby's bedding and towels, made scones(and burnt them) and prepared a proper tea not freezer food - tonight we're having toad in the hole, mash, carrots and leeks with onion gravy.With burnt scones, strawberries and cream for pudding.

I just emailed a work colleague (with whom I've been working really closely) to say that will not be back in office until after mat leave. He said he didn't even realise I was pregnant!! Granted I went off at 6 months ... but still!

You went 2weeks early before?so hate to scare you but it might just be 4weeks we must arrange a meet.

debs- glad you are feeling better, love the blanket, good to see it is already being used to cover the baby!

I've been fed up at work today, my boss has managed to get loads and loads of work lined up for me to do in my last 2 weeks, wouldn't mind but I have been sat here twiddling my thumbs for month! She has also arranged for my maternity cover to start over a month after I leave.
Going to take some deep breaths and try not to let it wind me up too much, if she ends up doing it herself/finishing it off it won't be the end of the world!

Sophie you have every right to be smug

Hmm I think my maternity cover is cracking up already. I have had a feeling he was slowly but surely sinking but he is very proud and has refused any offer of help from me and it is delicate as I wanted him to be empowered but also wanted him to know he could have as much support as he wanted (he didn't want any). Now it looks like he is snowed under and my boss has asked him to refer some work back to me. I wonder how he will cope when I am gone. I haven't done as much as I normally do in the last three weeks but am still doing a bit. He has not been exposed to my fully blown workload or to the most complex issues/deals so far and if he is already struggling, that doesn't bid to well...(he has had 2.5 months and extensive induction to help him cope by the way). I have to say I feel a bit sorry for him. I did try to warn him that my job was hard work and that I had a lot on and did offer to help, but I don't think he really realised or believed me. Bless him. I am only there for another 7 days. Well best for me to crack on as I now have a serie of tight deadlines on top of my presentation for tomorrow. I need to snap out of it and go back to my very efficient frame of mind (that is if I manage to find my brain again on the way!!)

Ktpit - you can borrow it but only if I find it and when I don't need it anymore. I still haven't done a 1/4 of my presentation and I know have 3 deadlines for Friday courtesy of my maternity cover which coincidentally is the day of my next scan so I will have even less time. All my colleagues from other departments are now calling in total frenzy and I have to keep them calm and get on with things.

Think I have to say bye bye to mumsnet until at least Friday evening. Now why am I punished, I didn't do anything. I thought my last week would be relaxing and a breeze. don't chat two much guys otherwise I will never catch up. Now where did my adrenal glands go...the adrenaline I need doesn't seem to be kicking off

needahand i have a colleague in a similar situation... her last day is tomorrow and she is realising that her replacement is not coping and doesn't seem to be taking in the induction/handover that has been offered... will amek the next couple of weeks interesting, as I will be the one she comes to for help, and I don't have the time to be doing two jobs!! good luck - but as you say, don't fret - it's not going to be your problem until you return from mat leave!

The teacher who covered for m on my 1st mat leave was barking mad, the 2nd time the headteacher and another teacher job shared it and the poor nursery nurse had to cope with a rough time!! I have to say that once I'd gone I didn't worry one bit!!

Thanks for all your posts, the mw is sure that baby is head down so hopefully shouldn't have to worry about a breech birth, but I would much rather deliver naturally than have a cs. My mum gave birth to my twin sisters naturally and they were both breech, it was only 25 years ago!
