hello mistermoo - good luck for your earth mother birth

have to say the non-ensuite room is bothering me even more now with all this awful tales of blood-spattered toilets , a home birth is sounding more and more appealing!

have aleady informed dh tonight that he will be coming to the loo with me, now i may ensure he brings rubber gloves and bleach with him too!

Hopeysgirlwasntbig · 21/04/2008 22:32

Neenz, just popping head through door to check to see how you're doing, keep us posted over on Sept won't you! x

katyjo · 21/04/2008 23:05

Welcome mistermoo you obviously have great choice in names, so let me know if you have any you want to throw my way.

Whinegums very true, you do have to see who you are naming first I want to have a few options and be completely decided before telling anyone, last time dh said we thought 'hamish' and mil disapproved and she drove me nuts, as she kept asking dh if he was sure about the name and didn't actually call her first grandson by his name until he was over a week old . Not sure about the 2 h's but I'm sure we'll work it out.

bitofadramaqueen · 21/04/2008 23:18

Sorry Rolf .

Hello mistermoo - Chatty? Us? Nooooooooo.

Am trying to think of ways to dig myself out of Jemima hole but all options seem to lead to a bigger hole so on that note I'm off to bed. [sheeping emoticon].

We tell people we are calling the baby 'Gandalf' -hope no-one is using this name

debinaustria · 22/04/2008 06:21

Morning all

How are you this morning? I was up at 3.00 with earache, watched a bit of tv and fell asleep on the settee, dh is taking the boys this morning and I think I'm going back to bed. He's definitely got the rough deal as it's pouring down here.

We've told people that they know now that it's a boy so we're not telling them names until he's born, so they still get a surprise.

libralady · 22/04/2008 06:29

Morning Debs, sorry to hear you've still got earache and that you've had a rough night.
Hope it clears up soon.
Me - I'm just knackered all the time which tends to get worse late afternoon after being sat at my desk all day. My bump become incredibly hard and I have problems bending and getting into my car to come home. Now find I just have to lie on the sofa at night and let my DH do the running around after DS. That's OK as long as DH is working locally, if he's away I just struggle on and then collapse in bed at a ridiculously early hour!
Oh well, better get dressed so I can get into the office for 7.
Catch you later.......

dylansmumplusone · 22/04/2008 07:13

my belly has also suddenly got really hard and insomnia just started the last couple nights. i have no energy to do anything with ds unless dh is there too to help. hence ds having a huge 'daddy suck' phase. he wants nothing to do with me and has a total fit every time daddy leaves his side or won't play with him right then and there. i'm really not sure what to do, i'm going to try to take him to a playgroup today but it's getting soooo difficult for me. all i want to do right now is sleep!

ernest · 22/04/2008 07:54

morning all, I cannot believe how long this is, and I've not even added my tuppence worth yet!

OMGOMG the removers come in 2 days!

Had very humiliating but positive house sale experience yesterday - in my defence, had a doc appoit at 8.30 and the boys on holiday, so was a bit of a rush to get us all out by 8.

Without word of warning, the sales manager of the 39 brand new houses turned up, with colleague. I'd contacted her to let her know we'd be moving and our house was immediately available, if anyone came to buy a new one and didn't want to wait. So it seems to be a bit of a mutual back scratch situation, so it would appear she's going to use our house as a free show home (the new ones are identical), and hopefully someone will want ours. Then they wanted to see round mine, () the shame - breakfast things still on table, all beds unmade, STUFF everywhere, it coudn't have been more messy and chaotic. I was ASHAMED. But they're bringing 4 people to look round at 5.30, so on major mission to tidy.

At the weekend I painted (touched up) entire house, and finished all decluttering, mowed lawn, high pressure hosed the terrase etc so if it were to be tidy, it would be as perfect as it could be, considering all the pictures are down, and some stuff in boxes.

Oh, and found out my next door neighbours, who are suddenly putting their house on market are splitting up! can't believe it, and it seems very sudden, inasmuch as the dd, in the same class as my ds2 was told on the Thursday, that the Friday would be her last day of school and she's also not going back after holidays, but moving, without daddy, somewhere Can't say she's a very endearing little thing but I do feel really sorry for her - at least with our move the boys have had plenty of warning & preparation & we're moving to be back together.

This baby is so wriggly. I asked him if it meant that after it's born it would also be a live wire and he said, normally, yes . Oh crikey. Like my 3 aren't enough to keep me on my toes!

DM, don't get too down about ds. It's just a phase, and anyway, will be a bit useful when baby comes, as then you won't be able to give him as much attention as you'd both like for a while.
Deb, sorry about your ear ache - hope you wake up feeling better.

DS3 is going crazy to see a yoda video and will zap me with his light sabre if I don't get off right now. Wlcome to any late new comers, glad no one's popped yet and I've missed it. (I haven't have I?) and I'll try to catch/keep up with you all. Wish me luck for 5.30! Got a really crappy day of major house work ahead, sigh

makecakesnotwar · 22/04/2008 07:55

Morning all-

SOunds like we're all in a similar place- craving a good night's sleep! I sometimes wonder why I bother at all since I wake feeling more tired than I did when I went to bed.

Debs- grrr. Hope your earache gets better soon. Am super impressed with the pushchair. I find it's easier not to involve DH in small construction jobs where it can be avoided- he's genetically pre-disposed to not read instructions then swear like a trooper when it doesn't fit/work....

Welcome Mistermoo- rather wish I hadn't eaten breakfast before reading your post about bloody loo seats. Will put my head back in the sand now....

Looks like it might be a sunny day... could I get away with no socks???

xpost with Ernest- OMG, so much happening. keeping everything crossed!!!

PiggyPenguin · 22/04/2008 08:17

Makescakes, I think no socks will be fine, but could I get away with a skirt and my appallingly white legs? - absolutely no way!

Does anyone know if you can use those selftanning moisturisers during pg? Its a bit desperate as I fear the sight of my sparking white limbs may otherwise frighten small children...

Rolf · 22/04/2008 08:37

DQ - don't worry! I sent my bf the list of 38 names and she and her DH sent it back with comments like "cow name", "v common", "bossy boots". For Jemima they said "don't you remember Playschool?". So really don't worry!

Deb - sorry your earache hasn't gone. Are you going to the GP about it?

Ernest - good luck today. Hope you find a buyer. And how sad about your neighbour - so horrible for their DD.

DM - hope you feel less tired today. This last stretch is hard isn't it?

DH is at home again today. I know it's a rather sad indictment of his ludicrous working hours but it is just so nice to have him around. Makes me realise that most of the time I'm just treading water/fire fighting [any other appropriate corporate cliche] trying to keep the show on the road.

goingfor3 · 22/04/2008 08:47

ernest I don't envy you at the moment - you have so much to do !!!!

DP and I discussed names last night and have make a huge list of types of names we don't like but haven't come up with anything we do like! I shall post the list of names we don't like and if anyone has any suggestions let me know.
We DON't want -

Kings names
A first name which is really a surname
Goegraphical names
C/K names
Needs to be at leat 2 sylables

The only conclusion I can come to is we are far too fussy! We have Matilda as a girs name so just need a boys name.

sophiewd · 22/04/2008 08:47

Morning all.

Deb - I really hope your earached goes soon, they are the pits.

Ernest - sounds quite positive about the house now, am shocked about the girl next door and feel very sorry for her.

Rolf - if we go on to have another one and if its a girl then Agnes is at the top of our list, its a great name.

Had physio yetsreday and feel so much better, have a brace to wear, seems to be more of a muscular problem as she was shocked by the arch in my back compensating for the size of the baby which she says is huge. Off to Drs in a minute as had a letter saying they wanted to talk about blodd test results, now would these be the one from December or last week?

Oh and our new furniture for the dining room should trun up today, fingers crossed, otherwise tonights guests could be having breakfast in bed tomorrow.

mistermoo · 22/04/2008 08:53

Makecakes - sorry re. breakfast... i have already done the school bus drop off in birks... yay! no socks...
have been dreaming of no socks for several weeks: a) no turning puce and passing out on dressing b) no turning swollen ankles into stack of michelin tyres on removal

Ernest - good luck with housework am v impressed you can manage a whole day of it. I unload dishwasher and need to sit down for a rest.

No idea if self tanners ok, but expect probably? i used some instant leg make up stuff for a wedding i went to recently when i couldn't find any Mr Blobby sized tights in my drawer. Seemed a good option... used Benefit stuff, but i know Pretty polly do some good versions too (?think can get at boots?)

ktpie · 22/04/2008 09:14

Morning everyone and hello mistermoo! It takes me so long to catch up with you all these days I run out of time to write anything!

sybil - you've got me worrying about the whiteness of my legs now, going to a wedding in a fortnight and have a dress to wear but hadn't thought about the legs!

ernest - good luck with the move, sounds good that you are getting some help with selling the house, even if they bring people round without much warning!

LauraT · 22/04/2008 09:24

rolf I haven't a word to say against Agnes, it's reversing it and turning it into Senga that I object to! like Jemima as well!

whinegums do you want to sell on the bugaboo adaptors? was possibly going to buy second hand ones in a vague attempt to offset the ludicrous amount of money we spent on the damn pram! (we did get a maxi-cosi car seat free though, that's the same as it costing £100 less isn't it?) There's a very long story involving why we ended up going with a Bugaboo, which boils down to my step-MIL is a pain in the bum and we did it to annoy her.

good morning everyone else, hope you all had nice evenings!

mellymell · 22/04/2008 09:28

Hi all.

Ernest - best of british with the move. Can't believe you can do all that tidying without retiring to your chaise longue for a rest.

RE ensuite loos and taking your DH with you when you want to pee. I'd advise getting him to go in the bathroom first and give it a good clean with dettox spray. My DH did that with every room we went into much to the MWs' outrage, but in all cases, they needed a good clean.

Deb - sorry about the earache - I had blocked tubes leading to my ears last time and it's happened this time too - means you are constantly having to equalise your ears and it also makes ones voice all tight and squeaky - very bizarre, but it goes post babe.

That's my words of wisdom over. Must do some work I suppose. Feel pooped already and have a full day of meetings so at least I'll have some reason to stay awake. Am missing my siestas which I had on hols last week. Will have to seek a kip in one of hte meeting rooms later on.

mellymell · 22/04/2008 09:28

Oh yes, and hi Mistermoo. welcome to the chattiest board on MN

splodgesmum · 22/04/2008 09:40

Huge respect for all of you on here who already have DCs. I am seriously struggling now with tiredness (left work last night and forgot where I'd parked the car!! ) but at least when I get home I only have to worry about a demanding cat (very clingy at the moment - do you think he suspects?!) and nothing else!

I'm impressed that some of you have only just stopped wearing socks too - despite the cold weather (and the wet!) I have been in open-toed sandals since February. Forgotten what my feet look like!

Got a tubi-grip from the physio this morning to wear in bed - that's going to drive dh wild with desire!

thegreenfairy · 22/04/2008 09:41

Morning all.

Left work early yesterday due to being exhausted from the weekend of madness, crawled straight into bed and slept for THREE HOURS. DH had to wake me up for dinner! (He'd made roast chicken and veg - what a star).

sybil I think you can use the 'instant' tanners that just wash off, but maybe the ones which develop aren't such a good idea. Boots no7 do a good instant one.

ernest I am SO feeling your pain. We move on Friday and when I reminded DH this morning that he'd promised to do a carload today (we already have access to new house) he started moaning (not always a star then ). I don't know why he's putting it off - it'll only mean more work for him on Friday... Anyway, the whole cleaning/ touch up thing is hard work, isn't it? Still, at least if you're being used as a show home you have a head start on a sale.
I guess your neighbour's split explains why he was so off with you when you mentioned his move. What a shame.

debs Can you get olbas oil in Austria? My MW said it was ok to use and a few drops in a bowl of boiling water + towel over the head certainly helped my earache earlier in the pgy.

Anyhoo, must crack on. Seven days left at work. Wooo!

whinegums · 22/04/2008 10:13

Morning all, good lord, it's taken me a while to get through all of last night's and this morning's posts, what a bunch of gobshites we are!

Laura, yes, of course you can have the adapters - CAT me and I'll give you my address for you to send an SAE (can you tell I used to work for the BBC?!) - don't think I've got any padded envelopes in the house or I'd just send them. As I got them from a friend, I couldn't take any ££s for them - and yes, like you, I reckon the donated maxi cosi has saved me £100.

Instant tanners - Virgin Vie do a good spray on one, can't remember what it's called now - and slightly easier to apply if one can't bend over properly because of bump!

Good luck today Ernest.

I have already stocked up on Milton wipes, antibac wipes and dettox spray for the hospital! I don't care if people compare me to Howard Hughes, I can't bear filth!

Welcome mistermoo.

I have 21 days left at work after today - feels like I'm counting down to the summer hols! We found out that our project will be refunded so I get my full mat leave package, and I reckon I can take 14 months off, so v v v pleased about that!!! Hurrah!!!!

Parofleurmapu · 22/04/2008 10:16

morning all

Welcome mistermoo

Debs - Apparently warm olive oil and garlic cloves crushed in blender and then dropped in ear is a good natural remedy. Olive oil seems to help with the pain and garlic cures infection but if it is till lingering maybe best to check with dr first

Re flip flops ive been in them since feb too OK OK i know weather here is better than there but i havent been able to get my shoes on!!! and when i do by emd of day feet are like balloons/ I now wear 2 pairs flip flops which are mens size 43!!! Feet do shrink after pregnancy right????

And re sleep im also having probs. DOes anyone else have really aching fingers and feet whilst they are asleep . It disappears a while after i wake up but is really annoying at night
