Welcome to the thread; the one where we get baby gates and maybe some sleep!

Oh sleep would be good 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for new thread!

DollyGx · 18/08/2024 23:54

@Spareincoming thanks for the new thread! What is this sleep you speak of?? 🙂🫠🫠

Italia89 · 19/08/2024 13:29

Checking in (baby born early Nov!)

We're currently experiencing wake ups every 45-60 mins at night, until about 2am when she goes 90 mins. Co sleeping is helping (I think!) but she keeps trying to roll over the pillow barriers I've created so I think it's time for her big cot soon.

Just hoping this doesn't make sleep any worse!

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 19/08/2024 13:30

Hi! Can I join please my ds2 was born Nov 23 :)

This is also me, right down to pillow barriers 😂😅

Italia89 · 19/08/2024 15:36

@FlyingHighFlyingLow haha!

I'm constantly checking my baby monitor when I'm downstairs, but toddlee DS was playing with it yesterday and we couldn't find it last night. I was running upstairs every 10 mins just to make sure she was in the middle of the bed. At least my legs got a good workout!

The sleep by me is on one side, so I feel like that's quite secure.
I wanted to put the other side of the bed against the wall, but that somehow creates a baby sized hole for her to fall down :/

Thack · 20/08/2024 19:20

Sleep was awful last night.
Snotty baby this morning so maybe it's that. They are starting to pull up and cruise (nearly there) and are not quite crawling, so I think these new skills are playing a part.

Didn't help that 3yo kept coming into my bed. They have hit the point of having nightmares about monsters so come in most nights.
Kinda looking forward to the little one tottering to my bed one day 🥰

I’m in a travel lodge in London as one of the DCs is part of a show and tell at Great Ormond tomorrow so I’m here with wee one and Elder.
Elder has been fabulously helpful all day, wee ones been a bloody nuisance and is making his presence known - hope the guests either side are understanding… or here for one night only!

Hi all
I’m in need of nap suggestions - currently we have a really good routine with our sleep and naps and have 2 x 2 hour naps a day and sleep 12 hours at night. 9-11am and 2-4pm
I’m going back to work in September where I will be need to be at work (and take my little one with me until her dad picks her up) at 3 and she’ll be in nursery 2 afternoons a week starting at 1pm

I’m really not sure what to do with our naps and how to chnage them to work.
Any suggestions?

DollyGx · 24/08/2024 13:46

Am I being silly starting to panic that my 9 month old can’t crawl yet?? All I keep thinking is I didn’t do enough tummy time with her when she was younger! She hated it and still hates when you lie her on the floor and especially on her front so it’s really hard to encourage crawling! She sits well and has started going from sitting to almost all 4s but then her knees just slide out from underneath her and she starts crying soon after! Just feel like she’s never going to crawl, I know I am probably being ridic here, I just keep reading things about how important crawling is for their future coordination etc! Am I being silly 😬😬

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 24/08/2024 15:29

@DollyGx mine is doing the same as yours, onto all 4s then sliding knees back. He is 'commando crawling' but oddly using one of his legs like a frog and waving the other one in the air uselessly 😆 nursery staff were very perplexed when they saw it.

Babies will move when they decide to, in odd and wonderful ways. Then you'll wish they stayed still longer 🙈

DollyGx · 24/08/2024 16:40

@FlyingHighFlyingLow aww bless him 😂 mines isn’t even commando crawling, all she can do is pivot on her tummy but she hates it 😬 yep I know you’re right!

Thack · 24/08/2024 18:55

@DollyGx no crawling at 10mo. Really wants to and is slowly improving at moving about, so I'm not too worried yet.
We're getting attempts at pulling up to standing, have walking holding our hands but no cruising or independent standing. Some bum shuffles although for small distances only.

No teeth has been bothering me, I've been poor at remembering vitamins so have mum guilt about that.

Spareincoming · 24/08/2024 22:44

@DollyGx No true crawling here either; he rolls or does this weird backstroke shuffle or shouts until a sibling retrieves whatever he wants.

Still refusing to eat anything other than puree too. Anything vaguely lumpy is pushed out.

We’ve a review with the health visitor this Friday. How many milestones will she decide he’s missing and how much will I ignore her? A lot on both counts I suspect!

DollyGx · 25/08/2024 00:14

@Thack @Spareincoming thanks for the reassurance! @Spareincoming we are also very hit or miss with food, she will chew stuff but swallows barely anything? Just keep telling myself she’ll get there eventually 🙄 sounds sensible re. ignoring the HV 😃

Thack · 25/08/2024 06:15

@Spareincoming the abilities at this age are so variable, I'd hope they aren't tracing milestones at all! Is it linked with her health? How is she doing now?

My LO is very determined with food. If it's in their mouth then they want to eat it. We're having to change from finger food to small pieces as we've had some bad cases of trying to swallow a piece that is too big.
They still don't eat much, lol

Hello,

I'm glad to have found you all again. I was on the last thread but have NC not long ago.

Is anyone else's baby extremely fussy with food and milk at the moment? She has cut through a tooth and seems to be cutting through another one but is SO fussy with feeding.

Anyone else?

Spareincoming · 25/08/2024 14:59

@Thack We only really have the one health visitor for our area, I’ve known her a long time and she is rather milestone fixated!
I suspect the bumpy start LO had isn’t helping but I think he’ll catch up in his own time.

We were out for lunch today and for ease I gave him a ready made 10+ months meal - basically meat and potato mush with small chunks and peas. He spat the peas and carrots out! Glorious!

Mine is teething and I feel demented today it's that mmmmmmmmmm... rrrrrrrr noise pretty much constantly argh

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 25/08/2024 16:37

I was getting worried when mine got to 8 months without teeth. Then suddenly got 3 teeth in under a week!

BabyBabyBaby123 · 25/08/2024 20:28

Hi everyone 👋🏻
We survived our first holiday as a family of 5 last week, had an amazing time, but also glad to be home.
I really can’t believe LO is coming up to 10 months, where has the time gone?!

Lillybobs86 · 28/08/2024 08:34

What water are you giving to the babies?
I was told when having solids cooled boiled water at meal times... Now at 9 months is anyone still doing that? Or do you give water from the tap?

Also what's the best yogurts your babies are having?
They all look so full of sugar to me or is that ok now x

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 28/08/2024 10:27

@Lillybobs86 I've given my baby tap water since started solids. Also generally just washed dummies in hot soapy water etc. I mean food isn't sterile, his cutlery etc is washed in tap water. He can crawl and roll and licks the ground. If I was abroad I'd go for bottled water but here I'm not bothering.

My baby has CMPA so I give him oatgurt or koko plain yoghurt with some fruit added.

Thack · 28/08/2024 19:21

@Lillybobs86 tap water here too. As Flying said, babe puts all sorts in their mouth at this point so it'd make no difference anyway.

I've been giving Aldi full fat greek yogurt. Usually mixed with fresh fruit or a pouch.
As they get older it's about balance and what works for you as a family too.

Mine is an absolute monster as soon as they spot someone else with an ice lolly or ice cream and we do end up sharing. Such a 2nd child! We don't give chocolate like DC1 sometimes has but we will share a little bit of a biscuit now and then.
