Lozza - we also have to avoid some letters... our surname initials are O'D so that rules out anything beginning with S or G for sure, then there's the nightmare of what you spell with middle names included... TROD, PLOD, FOOD... in fact we have more fun thinking of what we can't call the baby than we do of what we can call him / her.

Thanks for thoughts about the double buggy. I had been planning to get a buggy board to use with DD who'll be nearly 3 in October but a friend said this made the pushchair really heavy to push (more than a double buggy) and I'm also terrified of not having a means of restraining DD when she gets awkward out and about - or maybe she'll have grown out of tantrums by then?

Anybody else out there seriously struggling to cope with life and blaming pregnancy? We are hoping to buy a flat and should have exchanged by now but it's taking ages and I can't help but react in a completely over-emotional way to the estate agents etc calling me to hassle about paperwork. Poor DP has to pick up pieces when he comes home... I am just finding it impossible to focus with pregnancy brain and toddler so nothing is really getting done. And all I want to really do is the frivolous stuff like choosing new bedroom furniture for DD...

twinklytoes · 16/04/2008 20:45

myjob - yes, thats exactly what they do! the puppets you've probably seen will have been made by my parents company. they don't perform now though - they provide the resources, do the training etc.

tackled the names with dh this week - he said it was too early to think. dd1 wants an Emily but not too keen on that.

beth - troy is on my list too.

have decided that I'll get final say on name choices this time as DH has chosen dd1 second name and both of DD2's names.

Jambers99 · 17/04/2008 08:03

Morning everyone. Bethoo, going back to your post from ages ago, my DS is nearly 15 months and only weighs 19lb so he's a little'un as well - he can still fit into some of his 6-9 month trousers!

We're also struggling with names - with DS we only had one name we both liked, so we don't have any 'spares' left from before. Some of the names we do like are already 'in use' by close members of the family or close friends, so we'd prefer not to use them to avoid confusion. Though perhaps if we really like the name we should just go with it and deal with the fact there'll be two of them in the family. We're going to find out if it's a boy or a girl at our next scan so at least we'll only have one set of names to agonise over.

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/04/2008 08:38

Come and stick your favourite names on this thread then ladies.

its so so so hard to know what to do about a doulbe buggy i have sen a brill maclaren twin techno it has rain cover footmuffs head rests and is suit able from birth for only £200 its on the mothercare website

BubbaAndBump · 17/04/2008 11:34

Not sure how to add myself to top list - due 14th, one dd already...

Bit thick and didn't know about runny egg - poached eggs on toast have been my godsend this time round - v.nauseous all day and they just hit the spot!

btw, my doc and mw say peanuts are back on the okay list unless you're asthmatic etc

BabyDubsEverywhere · 17/04/2008 14:49

Hi all hope you are all well.

Sorry to Hijack a little but could really do with somebody saying that despite what the midwife says I am not a 'silly little girl' !

Had a midwife round earlier to complete my booking in. Im on the cusp for two different areas so can stay with my doctor for antenatal care and general doctors but have to have post nantal midwives from different area. not a prob, dont really mind that to be honest. but...

so im sat there with ds (7months) who likes his cuddles etc when she starts on about not having much of a gap, im sure to get pnd,, that i will find it difficult to cope, that ds will have seperation issues because he wants my attention so much, that im a silly little girl (im 24 FFS) for not considering the effect this will have on my body, that i will need to lose weight now to have 'any chance of recovery afterwards', that i should have done more to lose the baby weight from 1st pregnancy - Im a 16-18, not a feather weight but i dont think its critical quite yet!

Thing is all this was said in quite a nice 'I'm just concernd for you' kind of way so i just sat there nodding like a blardy dashboard dog! Fancy not being able to drink in pregnancy - Its when I need one most!

Ahh feel so much better for that, sorry for the rant,

Any thoughts on Jacey for a girl, its the first and only name to date thats made it onto the list!

KSal · 17/04/2008 16:25

BabyDubs i feel outraged on your behalf! its your call and everyone is different, her comments are hardly constructive... and as you're 24, you'll probably find it easier to lose the baby weight than me!

Also don't dwell on the pnd comments, the last thing you want to do is start off with the idea that you won't be able to cope - i realise that it is a physical as well an emotional phenomenon, but i am a huge believer in positive thought (i should really practise what i preach!)

also i'm sure your kids will benefit in the long run from being close in age.

on a slightly different note i am going really traditional on names with James and Emma, downside is that one is name of DH's cousin, the other name of a close friend... oh well. i am finding girl's names much harder, but also am convinced its a boy because of all the hair i am growing (yuck)

jenwa · 17/04/2008 17:21

Hi All
BabyDubs, thats awful, my Sis in Law had hers close together and although it was hard work at times (think it will be at any ages though) she managed and she got back in shape quickly after running about after 2 and joining the gym. Its your choice and you are not a silly little girl!

I have been suffering with headaches on and off, really heavy ones that make my jaws ache too. I think I remember it first time round but god its doing my head in (so to speak!)

Just had to walk to the shop to get a double decker, off work today and tomorrow and inlaws have daughter today so been so nice to be on the net and getting some sleep too today.

Also thinking of names, some I like that people I know have for their kids so have to rule those ones of the list! Will have a look at the name thread though. Like Phoebe though for a girl and Caleb for a boy.

I have got a double buggy that a friend asked £40 for so may buy off her, just need to check it fits in car! Dont want to spend lots on one and DD will be 3 in Oct. Just be handy if walked to town as dont think I can walk well with a buggy board as will do my back in, I have long legs and sometimes kick the pushchair as it is!

Take care all

bethoo · 17/04/2008 17:29

Babydubs i think i would have come out with a remark on the lines of it is my business and i appreciate it if you keep your negative thoughts to yourself. when i had my son i was still euphoric and told the midwife i wanted another and she said that it was good to do it close together so get the baby stuff out the way iykwim. it will be hard but there are several of us on this thread who alspo have small gaps including me so we will all have each other to rant to and support each other when the times get tough and i am sure they will. i live alone and am sure that i will be fine my mw was so cool when i said my dp did not want another she said 'dont tell him'' of course it never came to that it happened anyway!

Lozza70 · 17/04/2008 19:01

Evening all!

Quick question, I'm 15 weeks today and have not seen a midwife yet. Is this usual? It's my first and I'm 37, so knocking on a bit . I have not been contacted by the community midwives office at all for an appointment and I'm starting a new job Monday week so don't want to have to ask for time off for an appointment in my first week.

On the name front I really like Sorca for a girl and Jude for a boy but S as an inital is out of the question I think as the poor sprogs initals would be SAG....Ripe for teasing at school I think

at lozza and emkay with comedy names, worried it was just dh and I who lacked maturity to talk sensibly about names. We didn't think it was so funny when dd was born and had to be called 'baby' on hospital tags and documents!

BabyDubs am also outraged on your behalf for 'silly little girl' comment, so patronising.

Lozza I agree with myjob, get on the phone to surgery, I've already seen community midwife at 8 weeks, had booking in at hospital at 12 weeks and another mw appt at 16 weeks. If you have a girl, calling her Sorca Lozza would be beautiful

Lozza70 · 17/04/2008 20:15

Oh carmelbunny you are awful!!! We had already though of that one though as I am Mrs LAG so just one spacing error would make me Mr SLAG . Pointed out to me by DH with much amusment it has to be said.

I have called the community midwife office and left a message for them to call me tomorrow so hopefully I can get some idea of when they will see me.

snowymum · 17/04/2008 20:38

Honestly, some people - BabyDubs, just ignore the silly bag, which of course you are doing.

On names, we're thinking of Tilly Anne for a girl or Sebastian Christopher for a boy. Tilly was my grandmother's name (well, Matilda, but I'm less keen on that), and Anne was my other grandmother's name and I just think Sebastian sounds sexy! Christopher is for my dh because he likes it and should get a look-in somewhere in this whole naming process!

CantSleepWontSleep · 17/04/2008 20:44

We had to change our planned name for dd because it would have made her initial ARS!

Welcome Bubba - I will add you to the list .

Love Dylan and Harvey Sambrads. Dylan would be a strong contender for us, were it not one of dh's closest friends, although he's just moved back to Australia, so I suppose we could use it!

BDE - am at your midwife. I would actually report her, as her comments are totally unprofessional, unnecessary and unsupported.
Now I would never criticise a name that someone just mentioned, but since you asked for opinions, I will be honest. I've never heard of Jacey as a name at all. It sounds made up and dare I say it rather chavvy. Sorry, but hopefully you'll learn to love my honesty in time .

You've made me want a double decker now Jenwa, but I don't think I have any choc bars in the house!

Lozza - sounds like you are getting crap service from the NHS. Hope they call back tomorrow and give you an appointment pdq!

Baby seems to have been doing somersaults most of today, so I guess I can stop worrying about lack of movement!

Hello everyone

Sorry I havent posted for a while, all I seem to have done is moan about how sick I have felt thankfully that has nearly ended so I am not such an old moaner now.

The best news is that I had my scan today and all is well so far. They have changed my due date to the 6th which I am happy with as I wasnt completely sure on my dates and it puts me a week earlier which makes me 15+3.

Is anyone else booked in for a glucose tolerance test ? I made a right fool of myself in front of the consultant when she said I would need one because of my BMI.
I said whats a BMI???
Then I realised its because I am overweight.

Oh well might as well get used to losing my dignity.

They are good names myjob. Isn't Teagan usually spelled Teagan though, or is that just the one I know?

iuaas - I have been for a gtt already (family history as well as weight), but I passed out and then spent the whole morning throwing up, so they had to discontinue it. Am re-booked to have it next Thursday. Can't wait .

lol - you're reminding me of my mum now. She didn't know how to spell my name when she went to register it, so I'm spelled a bit differently from the usual version!
