Welcome GWTMH.

Bethoo - my advice is not to buy dresses for under 9 months at least. Until they are walking or at the very least cruising, they just scrunch up and look messy!

bethoo · 29/05/2008 12:17

yes i was told that when they crawl they pull at the dress which can chole them! sounds like a warning hazard label needs to be put on!
so trousers and t-shirts til then?

welcome girl I'm sure you'll start feeling lo soon. I've felt since 11 weeks (but it is twins & my 3rd time round) and dp is sooo jealous he tries several times a day but doesn't feel kicks yet

sambrads, that's great, can't believe you've bought something pink already! I believe my mil has bought a dress for girl twin but I'm too paranoid, waiting until 26 weeks (thought I'd add on 2 weeks for twins!). I think skirts over tights would be pretty cute, no chance of choking them then...It's the pretty cardies and coats I'm keen on, as I am sooo sick of blue/khaki etc etc. TBH, in winter all you see is the cardie anyway as they're underneath a blanket most of the time in winter! I thought maybe a few lovely girlie blankets too as I can never be bothered with snowsuits!

jenwa · 29/05/2008 13:29

Congrats on scan sambrads
I went to town today as DH birthday tomorrow. Thought I a would have a look at a neutral outfit for baby but could not see one in H&M and DD was picking up everything for the baby, blue and pink. Decided to wait til after scan but was just on a high after hearing all ok and wanted to buy something. Spent my money on DH b'day anyway. Got DD to sit in photo booth to have piccy taken, she looked sooo sweet.

Just got afty to chill as DD gone to MIL so I am free to clean rest!

accessorizequeen keep meaning to say how lovely to have one of each,, at least you wont have the worry or choosing if you dress them the same or not!

jenwa · 29/05/2008 13:29

ps. welcome to GirlWithTheMouseyHair.

Ekka · 29/05/2008 19:43

Welcome GWTMH! Don't worry about the movements yet. It can take a while to feel them with the 1st and also, until they are more obvious, you aren't always sure whether its the lo or just your stomach

Bethoo/Accessorizequeen - dresses are a nuisance, but so, so cute!!! Skirts and tights are definitely one way round it, but didn't work for my dd, she used to do huge wet poo every time she fed and tights just made it go everywhere (sorry if tmi!!!!!) though I understand that not all babies are quite as bad as she was!!!! We definitely found that bodysuits and leggings were the way to go. Luckily for us my SIL lives in the US and there is a GREAT online store 'Gymboree' there so we got some fantastic leggings etc as hand-me-downs. Don't think they deliver in the UK, though....

snowymum · 29/05/2008 23:11

Slight off topic thing here, but our local neighbourhood (small village) is excited that we're having a baby so he can be christened in the local church. Thing is, I am decidedly anti the Christian church and wouldn't dream of bestowing a religion on a child without his consent! Oh well, guess the neighbours will just have to think I'm a heathen...

jess1996 · 29/05/2008 23:40

Hello ladies. Sorry I've got behind with the thead due to work craziness. Hope everyone is well and congratulations to all those who have had their scan.

Hello girlwiththemouseyhair I am also due my first baby on Oct 21st and I haven't felt any real movements yet. It does worry me a little, but I can hear the heartbeat with my doppler which reassures me a bit. I'm desperate to feel the baby move though. I've had some quite sharp twinges low down for a week or two - they don't feel much like how baby movements are usually described though. I'm also getting an odd fluttery sensation just under my ribs on my right had side. It's too high to be the baby which I think is only belly button high. I don't know what it is .

Jenwa great news on your results. You must be so relieved.

I got the results from my AFP test. I have very low risk for both Down's syndrome and Spina Bifida so I'm quite relieved by that. I have my scan next week and I'm getting nervous about that now.

When does the worry end......

jenwa · 30/05/2008 08:11

jess1996 not sure the worrying ever does stop, once they are out there then becomes more worries!!! Sorry not wanting to put a downer on anything!
Glad you got good news re tests, sure your scan will be fine. I had some twingy pains but its more likely to be muscular and ligaments pulling getting ready to make more room! I never felt dd move for some time but this pregnancy baby has been moving so much. It is normal 1st time to take longer to feel it. Soon you wont be able to sleep as baby will be keeping you awake

sambrads · 30/05/2008 10:38

jess1996 i dont think you ever stop worrying as jenwa says when theycome out you have a load of different worries

bethoo oh my god the dresses are lovely and to be honest i could go into next and buy the shop out but i will wait

they will be havingthere sale in july and it will be the winter clothes in it so you can buy alot for your money then

some people migh think im mad buying something already but if something is going to happen then its not cause i bought a babygrow !!
my friend just had a wee girl and i bought her the ame ones so now i can get them for me

hansnava · 30/05/2008 10:43

hello

jess1996 - on what u said about the fluttering under ur ribs. im due 21st also and have been feeling movements for the past few weeks, when i went to see midwife a couple of weeks ago i mentioned to her that i kept getting a kick feeling half way betwwen the top of my beely button and my ribs on the left side and she said no its only up to ur belly button but since then im constantly feeling it and have even seen it move. so if it isnt the babys foot then the only explaination i have is it is kicking a nerve. so i would say u have been feeling baby moving .

emkay · 30/05/2008 10:59

Hello all
Have been offline for about two weeks because BT seem incapable of connecting us after our house move. Very, very frustrating!
So I'm now checking internet in the very lovely Apple Store on Regent Street whilst also doing a bit of therapeutic shopping - mainly for a bra that fits!
Looking forward to having a good read through the posts during a quiet moment when we're back online - please keep me included on any lists if you do an update in the near future though!
Good luck to everyone having scans - mine's on the 5th so not long to go now. Had the first kick that I could see jumping through the skin last night which was just lovely.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 30/05/2008 13:49

thanks for reassurance about movements girls...am so desperate to even get the fluttery ones though! hopefully in a few weeks spudlet will be making me curse ever wishing he/she was kicking! have been having occasional stomach "bubbles" but they're so similar to hunger movements that I don't think that's even baby yet

snowymum we're going to be heathen parents too...were talking just today about having a welcome to the world party/naming ceremony sometime in feburary...I know I'm totally jumping the gun but it's friday and I'm bored...anyone got suggestion for somewhere fun and cheap to hold such a do in London?!

rosebury · 30/05/2008 15:52

Hello ladies I have been away for a few days so trying to catch up with all the chat. hello to newbie girlwithmousyhair good luck with search for cheap venue in London I am sure that you will find one somewhere, sorry no suggestions though as I live in Bristol.

Emkay I keep buying new bras but they only fit for a few weeks then I start popping out of them but I do love my fuller boobs I might have them done next year oh to be slim and have full upright boobs there I go dreaming again.

We had a lovely surprise waiting for us when we came back from our break relatives had assembled all of the ikea bedroom furniture that I had bought for ds room and moved out his smaller stuff into the new babies room. It has saved us such a lot of work I really feel that I am nesting nown next big job is going into the loft to sort through five years of clutter to find the new baby items and the later I leave it the bigger I will be and the job much harder. I wonder if victoria beckham had the same worry?

Emmsy1 · 31/05/2008 07:47

welcome to the girlwiththemouseyhair and congrats to the girls who have recently had their scans!

I haven't christened any of my children yet, and the oldest is 8! My DH is a self confessed atheist even though he was raised as a catholic, so the conversation never comes up!

rosebury My boobs are very big, but I can't stand them, I am quite short and a little on the heavy side (not a real porker though!) so big boobs just make me look a lot fatter! I had a 'reduction' quite some time ago and it gave me a lot more confidence, I now feel less confident as I am slowly turning into a rolly, polly woman! Think I would appreciate my bigger boobs if I could be stretched by approx 10 inches!
really about your lovely relatives!

07mumstheword · 31/05/2008 07:51

Rosebury How kind and thoughtful of your family to do that for you. LOL at Victoria Beckhams worries she either got someone to go in her gold plated loft for her or simply bought all new everytime I know it's a job that needs doing I haven't even sorted the bedrooms out yet, there's enough clutter in the spare (babies) room now I think I'll get down to it after the 20wk scan

I'm 20 wks tomorrow and finally getting a little more movement. I can't wait for the scan a wk on Tues.

07mumstheword · 31/05/2008 07:55

Hi Emmsy it's not often you hear about boob reductions, I'd like to have mine increased and pert but I worry about pain/surgery/complications etc. I think anyone who has any surgery is v v brave.
And I agree if I was a few inches taller I'd carry weight so much better

Emmsy1 · 31/05/2008 08:11

07MTW I haven't sorted out any thing for new baby yet, though I would wait until after 20 week scan on 9th June, don't want to 'push my luck' the new baby will have to be in my room for quite some time then I will have to re-arrange the bedrooms depending on the baby's sex, he/she will unforunately have to share with one of my other children, unless I win the lottery or Victoria Beckham sends me an odd £30 grand for a loft extension There's nothing pert about my boobs (or body!)I am a complete mess at the moment! whinge, whinge, moan, moan need to lose a hell of a lot of weight after baby is born, could also do with a face lift, liposuction, new set of 'simon cowell' teeth etc,etc...

Emmsy1 · 31/05/2008 08:12

meant loft coversion!

07mumstheword · 31/05/2008 08:18

Aah Emmsy don't be so hard on yourself. I know what you mean though, we have a wedding evening do to go to tonight and I have to pop to The Mall to buy some vouchers as a gift (so dis-organised) DH made a joke ha ha yeah yeah you just wanna go shopping and I got all upset and angry saying no I'm a fat frump I REALLY DO NOT want to go shopping! I love my bump but not the flab around my thighs, backside and generally all over.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/05/2008 08:35

Oh don't mention loft conversions Emmsy. Ours should have started ages ago, but we're still waiting on all the quotes, so it prob won't start until we are back from holidays now, which means it will almost certainly not be finished by the time the baby arrives . It was supposed to be done by July.

Had a pointless hospital appt yesterday. Was supposed to be seeing the diabetic specialist obs consultant, but not at the joint clinic because of the bank holiday this week (joint clinic is monday mornings). I went and instead got to see one of his SHOs, who wasn't a diabetic specialist, and didn't even ask to see my blood glucose monitoring diary, which was the whole point of the appt! He then said I didn't need to go again until my appt in 5 weeks, when I am supposed to be going to the clinic every fortnight! I obv ignored him and made an appt for the next clinic in 10 days time.

He seemed most interested in telling me to go to hospital if I bleed (due to low placenta) so that they could admit me but not actually do anything , and wanted to know if I'd seen an anaestetist yet?!?! When I asked why on earth I would need to see one at all he seemed quite taken aback. Seems like he's never met anyone who didn't want an epidural before .

Rant over .

Hi there - I'm due October 12th - how do I join this thread? Like this? This is my first baby - I'm 21 weeks and have a scan on Friday where we will (hopefully) be able to find out the sex

loulou33 · 31/05/2008 09:06

Hiya all and welcome to Star. SUCH good news Jenwa, you must be soooo chuffed.

Decided not to go for home test for gender as they cost nearly £200 . I have decided that its probably a boy (won't bore you with my mad illogical debate with myself about why)then a girl would be a great suprise but then its going to be one or the other, isn't it????

Right time for gardening while the suns out....catch ya later

Emmsy1 · 31/05/2008 10:27

CSWS how much is a loft conversion these days? Thinking of asking for a home improvement loan as I luckily only owe about £11 Thousand on my mortgage! Why do you have to go to joint clinic?
07MTW know what you mean about the not wanting to go shopping, it was my birthday in April and I ended spending most of my birthday money on the children. Just couldn't bear to look at nice clothes, we don't seem to have very many places were you can buy descent maternity clothes from, there's a mothercare in Bromborough but they have a very small selection to choose from. I need to try clothes on (being short and dumpy!)or they are usually way too long, or too flared which makes me look even worse! ooh to be tall and slim!![dream on girl!!]
