Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
tedmundo · 27/05/2008 21:03

Just read a few threads on the girl's bits topics and I am in despair accessorizequeen! I reckon I am going to go for fanny as anything too cutesy just makes me gag.

DH suggested chuff but I honestly can't say it without laughing. Yes, I really am that immature.

rowanmac · 27/05/2008 21:05

Jenwa I can't believe you still haven't got the results, I'll tune in tomorrow, been thinking of you.

Tedmundo agree with the willy pulling surely thats got to hurt.

i'm half hoping for another boy as i know what to do with them and he's very lovely and cuddley. The Grannys definitely want a girl, my Mum obviously had a girl but I've never been a great one for being girly and MIL had 2 boys and now has 2 grandsons. I'd like to avoid the invasion of pink. Its a bit weird knowing that on a piece of paper in my notes it says what I'm having but we've chosen to wait until October.

Spent the weekend camping on the West Coast, absolutely glorious weather. DS was into his clothes on on the beach with half asleep Dad in hot pursuit at 7.30 Sunday morning. I have never seen DS so mucky as when we got him home, he tipped custard over himself and then played in sand. theres half a beach in the bath. A very happy boy though.

bethoo · 27/05/2008 22:06

tedmundo i think fanny is a bit too adult, something i would use in a filthy text message i like ladies bits or girly bits. my mum used to call it a twopence! (pronounce tu-pence iykwim!) very cringy!
i ma of those with boys due! i love my ds so much and really hoped for another as a play mate and i have no idea what to do with a girl! i think it is because i did not have a good relationship with my mum and even now it is strained and i worry about history repeating itself! i vowed never to say or be negative to my kiddies and so far i have not. ma i just being daft?
jenwa sometimes they can be insensitive i find. the best thing to do is call every day until you get results. di you try calling the hospital direct?
i have been lost all afternoon as mumsnet was down, says how dependant i am on my fix!

AandMsmum · 27/05/2008 22:13

tedmundo chuff is hilarious! Did lol at that myself, not sure about fanny, think it's a big grown up. In my house we have pennies, don't know why, that's what my mum called it so it just carried on..

Thanks smudgey feeling fine just really hate taking anything more than paracetemol, I get so paranoid, even if a doctor tells me it's okay!

Scan is now 1 week away, it's on 3rd June, so so excited but we've decided to wait on the babies sex, I'm really curious so need to get past the scan so I can forget about it due to having no choice until October (or probably November if my track record of induction is anything to go by)

tedmundo · 27/05/2008 22:24

Ahh - back to the drawing board then! Never really seen it as a grown up word but guess it is how it is used around you? Anyway, I am now praying for a boy!

I have the 20 wk scan on Thur so will let you all know how I get on. Lots of kicking tonight so feeling pretty chilled about everything.

Thank god Michael got kicked off Apprentice - could not bear another week of him.

jenwa · 27/05/2008 22:29

Hi All
Sorry its late but finally got GOOD NEWS all is ok soooo happy!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for being so lovely I did come on earlier to tell you all the news bit parent in laws turned up and had to log off then DH booked table out for meal to celebrate and I have to confess to having a small glass of wine

Conrats to all your scans, sounds like its a boy day! I am convinced mine is another girl as getting big red spots again like I did with dd, someone said the spottier you get the more likely its a girl as you produce more female hormones!
CSWS I feel the same though as would not know what to do if it was a boy. And I have sooo much girls stuff.

tedmundo I call dd's bits her front bum as thats what my mum called mine when I was little. Did say fanny once and it sounded horrible to say it to a small child.

Anyway, glad all is going well and scans are going well, cant believe some off us are halfway there. I will be next week and scan next thurs.

bethoo · 27/05/2008 22:31

excellent news Jenwa that must be such a huge lift off your shoulders and you can now enjoy the rest of your pregnancy!

4andnotout · 27/05/2008 22:31

We always call our girls bits a mary i dont know why, my nan calls it that and so does my mum so now thats how my girls call theirs!

Ekka · 27/05/2008 22:32

Congrats on the scans everyone! I can't believe we have nearly another month to wait for ours.... Jenwa, thinking of you - hope that you get some good results soon.

Isttimer80 - we have the Silver Cross 3D pram system. I really like it in many ways - its pretty easy to fold, useful to be able to take the carseat on the buggy (and the carseat is a Stage 0+ so goes up to a weight of 29lbs rather than the Stage 0 ones which only go up to 20lbs) and I did like the fact that in the early days the baby can lie facing you. However, the downsides were that the pram bit didn't really last long (and my dd was, and still is, pretty small), the seat only faces away from you, it can't be turned round to face you and the harness on the seat irritating - the shoulder straps are nowhere near long enough if you want to recline the seat eg when your dc falls asleep....
On the whole I would recommend it, but I do partly regret not getting a buggy where the seat unit could be reversed to face the parent. I guess it depends what is important for you.

Ekka · 27/05/2008 22:51

Jenwa obviously a cross post - congratulations! So glad to hear your news....

Must go to bed now - dd is still teething and keeping us up at nights.

accessorizequeen · 27/05/2008 23:17

wonderful news jenwa, i logged on specially to see you deserve that glass of wine!

tedmundo, you do make me laugh, i'd never even thought about this. I figure ds1 will think of his own word, but I quite like front bottom as he may have used that for mine when he got into a discussion with dp about it all! he and ds2 have such fun in the bath with their willies!

Emmsy1 · 28/05/2008 06:56

congratulations on the good news jenwa! have to agree, I call my little girl's private parts her 'front bum' and my boys now call their willies their 'widgies' think they got that from school!
I had a bit of a scare on monday evening, I found a lump under my arm and when I touched it, it was quite sore, went to the docs yesterday morning with thoughts of the big 'C' going through my head, anyway doc told me I had a swelling in my lymph node that was probably caused by an infection? and that it should clear up in a week or so on it's own, feel a lot better about the lump now. Decided to ask the doc if she could check the baby's hb as I couldn't pick it up on my monitor, so I heard the baby's hb for the first time which was fab! Doc advised not to try and do it myself as it can cause unnecessary upset (probably will though!)

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/05/2008 06:57

Fantastic news Jenwa .

tedmundo - I have the perfect word for you - 'undercarriage'. Not twee or fluffy, but not as anatomical as some of the alternatives.

sambrads · 28/05/2008 08:41

congrats everyone on your scans its all so exciting

my scan is today and i am so so so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

dont think we will find out the sex as my dh does not want to know but maybe i will see something or not

emmsy glad your ok i had a lump age sago under my arm and was told the same so it will clear up soon

Sallypuss · 28/05/2008 09:45

jenwa congrats on the test results - think you earned the glass of wine!

Great news about everyone's scans - they're coming in thick and fast now aren't they? Good luck to those with scans pending (17th June seems a long way off for mine!)

SmudgeyDoodle · 28/05/2008 09:52

Jenwa that's great news. I bet you slept well last night!! Good luck for scans today. Mine is still nearly 3 weeks away so not really thinking about it too much (honest!). STill haven't felt LO kick yet and am 19 weeks today. I know with DS I didn't feel him til about 21 weeks but thought it might be earlier this time. I know it's daft because I'll soon be sick of it but I wouldn't mind just one kick to keep me going.
Tedmundo - what about privates? Maybe that gets used more for boys bits but I think it's quite good as lets them know (when they're old enough to understand) that those bits are private? CSWS - LOL at undercarriage. Makes me think of a plane!!!!!

1sttimer80 · 28/05/2008 10:06

Hi all,

Jenwa, that wine glass was weel deserved congrats to you and everyone else on their scans!

I think there are two of us with our names 1sttimers, I'm 80 but then there is an 08 as well!

I'm too busy giggling at the different names... I like twopence the most!

Good luck to those having their scans soon!

1sttimer80 · 28/05/2008 10:07

p.s. thanks for your comments Ekka... when we went to John Lewis they did say new range was coming out in August, so note in the diary ladies for those that need to buy prams etc. We'll wait and see what the new range is like and then take it from there

bethoo · 28/05/2008 10:53

ooh did not know that John Lewis did their own brand of prams. will check out their website

bethoo · 28/05/2008 11:14

ref movements i am now 21 weeks and i can actually feel my belly moving on a morning! so from nothing to actual belly waves.
and talking about my belly, it is flatter now, it must have been trapped wind which was making me balloon out as on a morning i look normal! now i am at that stage where i am concerned that i am not showing at 21 weeks. probably going ot be the same as last time where i was ok and suddenly exploded over night at 30 weeks! so 9 weeks to go and i will be waddling again!

Emmsy1 · 28/05/2008 12:01

sambrads thanks hun, hope all goes well with your scan today!

I'm starting to feel more definate movements... a kick here and there... soemtimes it's ticklish

rowanmac · 28/05/2008 14:39

Jenwa relieved to hear all well, got to go, DS rolling things down the stairs and I suspect he'll be next.

07mumstheword · 28/05/2008 16:16

Been away for a few days so only skim read. We were putting DD new "Big" bed together last night and it went on a bit so recorded The Apprentice to watch later and just read Michael kicked off, I really should watch it "live" as that's two weeks running I've known the outcome before I've had chance to watch it but I'm glad it was him

Congratulations on the good news Jenwa what a relief.

Glad to see everyone is doing well.
