Oh - and I'm with you all on the twins thing - DD will only be 19 months when no. 2 is born so I'm counting on there only being one of him/her!!!

Kiwicath · 28/01/2005 13:56

19 months for me too. Twins in the family - getting a bit worried!!!

franch · 28/01/2005 13:57

eek Kiwicath! No twins on either side here - and DH has 25 nephews and nieces so hopefully that means it's just not in the genes .....

Sallie · 28/01/2005 15:59

Hi everyone! Am off work and am at home today as feel lousy. Also had a horrendous day at work yesterday....Anyway, woke up with the usual queasiness and a headache which hasn't really gone away. Am feeling much better though now. Not sure how I am going to cope with the next 6 months of working in a stressful, full on job, with two at home and one on the way, but am sure I will - lots of others have coped before me! Hope you all have a fab weekend. Am really hoping that dh will be able to do a sneaky scan on me tomorrow so we can check if all is going ok. Nerve-wracking.....

YOKEFLEET · 28/01/2005 16:01

oh twins!! I hadn't even thought about that.... my dad was a twin and don't they say that it skips a generation?? oh thats got me thinking now.......hmmmm

YOKEFLEET · 28/01/2005 16:02

Fingers crossed for you Sallie!! have a good weekend

zubb · 28/01/2005 16:06

I have twins ont eh maternal side of my family, so its a possibility. My Nan had an operation a couple of months ago, and while coming out of the anaesthetic did predict that I would have twins next . Just got to hope that she was totally wrong as going from 2 to 4 would not be good - we'd have to move house for a start!

DecafArabica · 28/01/2005 16:47

Forget who asked but no, my friends had absolutely no idea they had miscarried; neither had been having MS or other strong symptoms, which was normal for both of them. So maybe we should be grateful for our ongoing nausea.

DecafArabica · 28/01/2005 16:49

Roll on 12 weeks--we'll all feel better once we see those lovely scans, hear the heartbeats and move past the MS/constant nausea stage

franch · 28/01/2005 19:06

Hear hear, Decaf

pooka · 28/01/2005 19:16

Yes - definately roll on 12 weeks. Have actually been sick quite a bit today which is unprecedented for me. Thank heavens its the weekend, so think I will be feeble and let dh take the strain. Feel so sorry for dd because she seems to be living on ready meals, chocolate and biscuits. Not that she's complaining though

franch · 28/01/2005 19:25

Oh, aren't mealtimes a nightmare, pooka? They're the main times when I vomit - just thinking about what to give DD sets me off. Did have a freezer drawer full of homemade stuff for her but as I can no longer face cooking it's down to almost zero. Unearthed an old jar and gave her that this evening - she went off jars ages ago but didn't seem to mind today - maybe it was the novelty. She'll starve if this goes on much longer!!

pooka · 28/01/2005 19:38

I know exactly what you mean about just thinking about menus. I'm even finding reheating meals pretty loathsome.
Desperate for an early night, but don't want to miss the post 9pm window for eating something - pretty sure that's why I'm feeling so rough today as was starved this morning.
Ho hum. Could be loads worse!

diane77 · 28/01/2005 20:18

arrgh just looked at my legs they seem extra veiny will now try my best not to cross my legs i dont want varicose veins!!

marinda · 28/01/2005 20:26

Did another test and it was positive (Numark own - very resonable at £3.99 for 2) Better than first response at £8.99 - what a rip!!! Decaf are you there ? Are there many old duffers (I mean ladies of mature years) on this thread ? Just so I don't feel alone. STILL have not been to DR's yet (Fears of Emma's Diary keep coming to mind!!!) but I shall soon-. No nausea but mils cramps continue - anyone else had this ?

Beatie · 29/01/2005 09:35

Just to help set some people's minds at rest ~ I am 8 weeks and have already had a scan and saw the heartbeat.

From finding out I was pregnant at 4 weeks until about 6 weeks I had AF type cramps. I think it is just your uterus beginning to grow.

PicadillyCircus · 29/01/2005 12:00

Where is everyone today? .

DH is off doing more revising for his law exams (they're on Monday and Wednesday). DS is finally having a nap I hope (third attempt).

I was sick before; somehow having your head down the toilet with DS standing there giggling is quite surreal. I am feeling quite similar to how I felt when I was this pregnant with DS ie want to drink lots of fizzy water, eat small oranges and not much else.

DS hasn't been well over the past couple of days - slept last night from 5pm until 8am and isn't eating much. I had to get DH to help with the (explosive) morning nappy - I could not face it on my own!

We're going to a birthday party this afternoon for two of his friends - we'll have to walk there (in the rain) as DH has taken the car with him (which is fair enough, but I'm not really in the mood for walking!) Need to remember to get a card each for the birthday boys.

Oh, I'm aslo managing to eat ginger biscuits. This is good .

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

marinda · 29/01/2005 12:09

Beatie thnks for your comments - I think I am about 5 weeks and I keep getting the AF type cramps. How did you get a scan at 8 weeks ? I thought you had to be 12 weeks before you got one.
Still sooooooo nervous about this being pg. Cancelled my electronic facial today incase it harms the baby.

Jaxpax · 29/01/2005 16:52

Hi all,

This has got to be my worst day. Absolutley no energy/ head ache and the very slightest nausea (the type that makes you think your imagining it)so I have to keep eating to stop it from getting worse. Can anyone else relate?

Marinda - I am also an old duffer (41). If you are that makes three . I am in my 7th wk and symptons have clicked up a big notch .

As for twins, there are none in our familys on either side so not too concerned. Although completely understand the dread some of you are feeling where there is a slight chance. I have heard that pg bump grows earlier due to having gone through it all before! Old wives tale or not??

Kiwicath · 29/01/2005 18:22

Hi all, just a quick report from my neck of the woods. 8 weeks and counting (god, am I counting!!!) Sort of queasy now but got a huge appetite and really lethargic. Got a girls night tomorrow night so am going to have to nurse my one glass of wine all night. That in it's self should give me away! "Old Duffers", my mum popped out her 7th!!! at 42 and that was in the days of no scans or electronic heart monitors. She's a true inspiration to me and when ever I think my "1" is a handful, I try to remember that she had 5 under 7 and lived in the back of beyond, miles away from any services, help or mumsnet. She's a star!!!

Kiwicath · 29/01/2005 18:23

Also going to say - what about a new thread for the new month??? This ones gets looooong.

franch · 29/01/2005 18:38

Was going to suggest the same thing KC - whoever's on first on 1 Feb can start the new one!

marinda · 29/01/2005 22:23

Hi Jaxpax - i'm 38 - this will be my second. Also felt knackered today and had to sleep in afternoon for 2 hours - no real sickness as such just sore, itchy hard boobs- paraniod about what to do and what not to do. Have you been to DR'S YET ?

Beatie · 30/01/2005 09:00

Marinda - I got the early scan because I had two miscarriages between my first baby and this pregnancy. They like to scan you early for the reassurance as positive thoughts have been shown to help bring about a good outcome.

I was violently sick last night after Dh contamianted the house with the smell of garlic. I feel a little better today but I think it is all relative and only because I felt SO dreadful all day yesterday.

My SIL had her baby this morning so I am hoping to make it out to Mothercare this morning to buy a gift and hope to see my new niece this afternoon. I'm so excited.

pooka · 30/01/2005 10:02

Beatie, how lovely - your niece rather than the sickness I mean!
Feeling much better today, having had a lie in until oh, about 5minutes ago. For some reason dd has taken to having lie ins every weekend, 9am yesterday, 9.45 today. Not that I'm complaining
Also have taken to taking food to bed with me at night, then munching on a biscuit if I wake up hungry because have eaten so little during the day. This kind of helps me feel more human in the morning and not so pressured to eat in the evening when I'm feeling rough.
