I haven't got handles on my bath... I think the solution is to spend more time washing, and less time flat on my back in the tub with a book...

TwilightSurfer · 31/03/2008 12:33

LOL at Libby.....lying on your backs side by side trying to do the wild thing. Now that's an image.

Afternoon all

Hope all goes well with the scans today.

On the pram front. I am also looking at the Silver Cross Linear Freeway hazie. I was originally gonna gor for Silver Cross Sleepover but it was very heavy and bulky, but would be great for lots of walking. I only have a small boot and will be putting it in and out of car often so if I put that in there will be no room for shopping!. BTW, I've emailed them to see if there are any new colours coming out as I know there is in their other ranges so will keep you posted.

Names, Names, Names. I thought I had it sussed but thought I should let DP know and he hates all of them . He is quite olfd fashioned in the names he is choosing so not sure what to do. Maybe have to get a baby name book and go through them all one by one and find at least one that we agree on.

Sophia and Olivia are lovely names. I quite like Livvy which I know is not a name but could be shortened version of Olivia. I hope to have the middle names May and Rosemary in the somewhere (after Nan's birth month and Mum's middle name)

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 12:56

libby have got it - soak away and when done empty out the bath, roll over onto all 4s then get up - not quite a spectator sport but will help the tum!!

sazzles I work in the police control room and unless I can justify MNing as a valid police issue or enquiry I doubt it'll be received well lol

at least it IS sunny to get them all out and hung once washed?

shazza Olivia is lovely and could be shortened to Liv as well. What about Libby either stand alone or as a shortened version of Elizabeth?

what ones DID you like, as well as cunning tricks to break prams I also know cunning tricks to convince DHs on names

Shazza2002 · 31/03/2008 13:03

Just laughing at your tip on how to get out of bath. If I tried to roll over on all fours there would be no water in the bath and the ducks would be swimming on the floor

Well, I like Lexie (have since before PG), suddenly Summer and Amy. Admittedly I don't actually 'love' any of them. As for boys I 'love' Owen, like Charlie and Billy.

Shazza2002 · 31/03/2008 13:04

Sorry Dizzy, just realised you said empty the bath first. God I am stupid. I tried to pay for my lunch with a Kit Kat today . Asked for a Kit Kat and lady gave me it, but instead of giving her money to pay I put the money in my bag and gave her the Kit Kat, BTW it didn't work!

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 13:08

rofl at kitkat trick shazza!

Lexie is my dd2 btw! be careful of that name, very VERY bloody minded and stong willed and fast lol
means sparkling in scottish! had to fight dh for it and was only allowed it once my mother announced she hated it!

pertelote · 31/03/2008 13:09

Well hello everyone! Thanks for the encouragement - here is the scan report as requested: everything is fine "Limbs: four", as it says on the sonographer's checklist! Baby was quite co-operative so we have a nice snap - DH is scanning it at work so I will try to upload it this evening...

Apparently my placenta is low-lying so I will need another scan at 36 weeks. For now though I have another six weeks to get on with it on my own (thank goodness for MN!) - no midwife appt between 13 (for booking in) and 28 weeks. Does that seem normal?

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 13:10

pertelote thats great news - did you ask the flavour or not?

you should have a midwife apt at 24wks - community midwife though not antenatal!

SKYTVADDICT · 31/03/2008 13:20

Hi all

I have been told to make a 28 week appointment and nothing at 24. Was quite surprised.

I like Lexi but DPs surname starts with L and he won't have that so I am trying to persuade him on Alexa Grace so I can call her Lexi. I have a Libby, Freya and Callum already. DP and I don't agree on many names and I compromised on Callum so am sticking out for Alexa. Either that or Mia Grace or Emelia Grace (can you tell I think its a girl?). Will be really stuck if its a boy!!!

Buckets · 31/03/2008 13:24

Pertelote you should be able to just make an appt with your community MW or even your GP might do an antenatal clinic one day a week. You know just the wee test, heartbeat, blood pressure and maybe a quick feel or measure by then (can't remember when they start doing that).

Re Olivia, that's my name! Was originally Livvy, then Livi (asserting my identity aged 8) then just Liv. My sister calls me Olive but she is the only one allowed to .

Shazza2002 · 31/03/2008 13:24

Good news pertelote.

Re placenta, my friend who recently gave birth had this and that's a lot of the reason she didn't feel much movement as the placenta was effectively cushioning a lot of it. Didn't cause a problem at birth though.

Dizzy - Well problem is my mother likes the names DP is coming up with. How do I get around that? Well DD is a real PITA at the moment and I'm starting to wonder if I should have just called her Devil. So that name is on the short list

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 13:24

maybe my 24wk one isbecause am an awkward case

Our Lexie is Alexandra, was only way to get dh to agree

what about Alexia - my spanish cousin has a wee girl called this

pertelote · 31/03/2008 13:27

Thanks Dizzy! No, we decided to go with the surprise option - plenty of time for sex stereotyping after the poor kid is born, I reckon... this way at least I can resist some of the pink/blue, trucks/princesses stuff a little while longer! I completely understand those who want to know, though... It makes the Name Conversation easier for one thing - yesterday DH announced that he wanted to put Archimedes on the list. Unbelievably I actually spent a moment thinking 'well, Archie is quite nice' before returning to reality!

I don't have a community midwife, only the hospital ones - apparently that's how they do it round here (East London). I did try to ask the nurse at the clinic this morning, but she just said your midwife made these appointments, they must be at the right times! Maybe I will ring - or am I just being a nervous first-timer?!

Shazza2002 · 31/03/2008 13:28

Ah Freya, that was the other name I liked. Only after seeing it in the paper. That 57 year old mum has called her daughter it.

Liking Olivia more. I also like Evie but friend who is planning another baby after she get's married has already said she is having that name. Is that allowed? To take a name before you're even pregnant???

SKYTVADDICT · 31/03/2008 13:28

I like Alexia - will try it out on DP and the DDS.

Pertelote - my DN is due in 5 weeks and just had a further scan as he placenta was low and it has moved, apparently it does quite often.

pertelote · 31/03/2008 13:28

And thanks everyone else as well!

SKYTVADDICT · 31/03/2008 13:31

I am at work all week and already fed up. My mum has had to fetch DD1 from school as she is ill and has had to cancel her bowls. C is at a completely new childminder as his can't take him extra days. She seems lovely though and has texted to say he is fine. Thank god he is an easy baby!! He is going Wednesady too all being well and my mum was already having him tomorrow so if DD1 is still ill she will have her too!

I really need to give up work and really don't need this stress at 21 weeks pregnant but have to stay until 27 June and then maybe even come back . We just can't manage without money! How will I manage a 12 year old, 7 year old, 1 year old and 9 month old baby! Its the illness and holidays that are a killer and I only work 2 days a week + four weeks holiday cover.

libbyssister · 31/03/2008 13:38

Good news on the scan Pertelote. I have a big gap between 16 week and 28 week appointments. The midwife told me that was because it was a second child and they scale things down a bit for no. 2...?

Buckets · 31/03/2008 13:40

I have the perfect part time job working 7-3 on a Sunday! No tax, no childcare costs, DH is forced to bond with kids (esp as I have the car so he has to use his imagination on rainy days.) I think I'm eligible for maternity allowance at 90% pay for 30-odd weeks too, yippee. That's about £40 instead of £45!

Shazza2002 · 31/03/2008 13:45

Well I am having a surprise too but am starting to get slighty worried that this baby is gonna be in it's birthday suit longer than anticipated. Anybody else who's been shopping yet, have you noticed the lack of white baby clothes? I know people are more inclined to find out nowadays but it's really difficult to find any clothes. So my mum is on standby that as soon as I have it she knows where to go shopping. Although all the cute little outfits that are there now aren't probably going to be around in August, they will probably have their winter stock in!
