Hello late night ladies...

Expressing... I had an Avent pump with a squeak. Sounded like we were having mattress-springing sex at 10pm every night. Hah if only...

I've had two glasses of wine tonight just to dull the pain of the in-laws staying for the next couple of nights. Arrrrggghhhhhhhhh! Baby WILL sleep well tonight and so will I

Night!

It's a date Dizzy. Never let it be said that I pass up a strawberry tart!

Love that garden, CC. Making me feel all summery just looking at it.

All this talk of pumping is bringing back memories... I managed to find pumping easier the natural method of delivery. Will try again this time, but am utterly haunted by the pain and feelings of failure last time. [shudder].

Right, back home safe and sound so off to bed. Night all.

TwilightSurfer · 08/04/2008 23:45

I missed out on all the good chatter. My neighbor stopped to talk because DD and I were outside (me with my laptop sitting on the porch and DD running around in the yard with shoes that play the wedding march).

Well I'm all for a party at CC's new abode. It's BEAUTIFUL!! Very .

VG I'm only guessing it's fingers but it seems plausable. I guess it's strange that I've been able to tell what's where for weeks. Things weren't as obvious with DD1.

I will say again I am very impressed by all the BF stars around here. I can't wait to try again. I don't take failure lightly. DD and I just couldn't get things going. My girlfriend is giving me her hospital grade Medela pump. I didn't get a pump in time and got stopped up (or however you call it). I WAS MISERABLE!! Is it normal for the milk to take five whole days to come in?

Sleep tight...............

libbyssister · 09/04/2008 08:50

sazzles, sorry I dashed off, DH came upstairs to find out where I was and why I was leaving him on his own to fend off his parents! Hah! He said wearily 'Are you on Mumsnet again?'... So I thought I'd better go...

How are we today? I'm filling my face with toast...

I had the medela pump last time which was good but, yes, a tad noisy. My most embarrassing moment was when I went to see Robbie Williams at Knebworth when dd was about 3 months old. I was pumping and dumping cos I got explosive v quickly. Off i trotted to the row of portaloos to have a pumping session. When I came out I was so . They had closed the row of loos was in, to give them a quick clean, and I imaginine they all noticed the one still shut for ages with a very suspect buzzing noise coming from it!!!!!!!

I've had an annoying pain on my right side (well, the side of my tummy,. rather than my side iyswin). Not sure if is wind (don;t thiok so) or something muscular from coung, or if it is something jabbing me (I guess it could be a head bumping me). It's def not kicks or the like... Being me, I'm gettiong v worried though. As ever.

Love cavey's new house. Yup - let's give her a week then we'll trawl up with sazzles' sat nav. Good plan!!!!

Dh and i are going into London to meet friends for dinner tonight. Think is the first time I have properly socialised/been out for a meal since i've been pg. Clearly not feeling quite as rotten as I was, even though the sickness is deffo still there.

Miamla - am grinning (see ---> ) at your good news! yay!!

Must have a shower and get dressed. Hair is literally standing up on end - to the extent where dd said "ooh mummy, I can se a really blonde bit, it's lovely" - ie a highlight that hasn't faded like the rest, that was hidden underneath!

[LIST NOTES: *means you haven't posted in 2008 & after your listing means you need to do some updating]

Pinchypants · 09/04/2008 10:04

Morning ladies,
Hope it's sunny where you are!

Just posted my updated details. Haven't been on board for a couple of weeks - struck down with nasty sinusy cold . God bless the makers of Olbas, but Sudafed it ain't!

Hope you are all well - hugs to those who need them today. I'm fine - bump and baby seem to be about a month ahead of where I was first time - I look about six months pg already and baba is moving around very distinctly now the whole time. Have started listening to the natal hypnotherapy relaxation CD this week and hoping it will help me stay calm again. Scan on Monday morning so fingers crossed all is well.

Had eventful evening last night - local power cut so cooking by candlelight. I was not terribly good humoured about the whole thing, esp as DH decided to stay at work till 8 so I was by myself (apart from sleeping toddler) in cold dark house and then I got the 'you're not supporting me' lecture. Even less good humour followed along the 'pot calling kettle black' lines. Hopefully resolved, I fear only temporarily - some stuff from last time around and my PND appears to be resurfacing between us so we need to get that sorted pronto. Have agreed to catch-up properly with each other at least once a week, with telly off and giving each other full attention for 15 mins or so each, just so we stay connected. V easy to drift. Scarily so.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Hope you all have a good day and will endeavour to catch up with what everyone is up to soon.

Lots of love to you all and bumps,
Pinchy xx

alittlebitshy · 09/04/2008 10:16

Sounds like a not very nice evening pinchy. Poor you. Glad you and dh have resolved to talk regularly though. That can only help!!

AM dressed now. Spent 5 mins prior top going up for shower crouched down hiding from front door lol. kids next door had kicked ball over and were riningin on bell to go and get it.I wasn't willing to go in my egg shaped pajama-ed glory complete with sticking up hair (dh admits that my jamas do not give the most flattering pg body shap lol. egg on legs i have decided) so hid and made dd stay inliving room til they'd gone. lol.

off over to church for tea (well water for me - still off tea {sad]) with the old ladies who can coo over my bump and coo over how big dd is now lol.

PetitFilou1 · 09/04/2008 10:47

Humph missed all you lot chatting on here last night. Dh has been away so no time to MN in the evenings really (and won't get much better over the next couple of weeks)

VG Forgot to say Happy Birthday the other day. I am also 36 in May so catching you up!

TS Yes it is normal for it to take 4 or 5 days for your milk to come in. In the meantime the baby is getting the colostrum though which is as far as I know glucose and antibodies (Ilana please correct me!) so it doesn't matter.

I've got a hospital grade electric pump - it is great. Never got the hang of the hand held ones. Finding the time to use it when I had dd was another matter (she never did take a bottle and I'm determined that this one will as I loved b/f but could have done with a break now and again).

Miamla Really happy for you on the scan. Can't wait for mine next week - am nervous and excited...

TwilightSurfer · 09/04/2008 12:12

propping up the corners of my mouth so I no one sees that I'm not in the cheeriest of moods today. Will be on the lookout for something to bring me out of my funk. I'm worried about DD who still seems to have tummy trouble, weeks after antiboitics messed her up.

BellyBaby was doing some really wild moves last night. She might have rolled over or something like that. It felt totally weird.

BF has moved to the top of my list now. I'll find out when my local La Leche Leauge meets. I think it's the first Tuesday of each month. I figured giving birth would be harder so I put all my training into that last time. Birth was EASY by comparison. (That's a wisdom tid-bit for those newbies out there.)

It's to be another 70+ degree day. Hopefully that will change my to a real .

PetitFilou1 · 09/04/2008 12:43

TS I agree giving birth is the 'easy' bit. NCT training on bf was laughable in hindsight. I was lucky in that I found it pretty easy but lots of my friends had problems.

Why are you feeling down today? Hope the weather cheers you up.

Buckets · 09/04/2008 13:23

I do worry that my two were such good sleepers (through the night at 8w) because of the formula knocking them out? Someone tell me some early sleeping BF baby tales please as I am determined to do it this time.

I've got local reporter and photographer coming tomorrow to talk about real nappies so am trying to focus on cleaning lounge. Thing is, I've really lost interest in promoting cloth after 4yrs of it and my real nappy network has nothing planned for Real Nappy Week next week. I'm happy running my info website on it and take the odd phonecall but fed up with it always being me organising everything. So, cue much blagging tomorrow I think...

DS has just put himself down for a nap in his new bed! Thought he'd gone a bit quiet, he's actually nodded off, yay.

PetitFilou1 · 09/04/2008 13:58

Buckets What do you mean by sleeping through the night? I mean 7-7 but other people seem to mean 11-7 - If you had the former at 8 weeks I think you are just very very lucky and not much to do with the formula! as mine did not do this until somewhere between 6-8 MONTHS (nb ds was fully formula fed by that point but dd wasn't - so there you go!)

poppysocks · 09/04/2008 14:25

I have the same worry Buckets. DD was sleeping through the night (10-8) by 6 weeks. And I hate to say it, but she suddenly sorted herself out with the whole night/day thing when she had her first formula. I'm sure that's more because she was actually hungry before that (as I had such problems feeding her), rather than the formula per se, but I can't help make the connection.

I know that it's highly unlikely we'll be as lucky second time around, but am willing to cross every finger and toe!

I def. will be trying the breast feeding again, but will also hope to introduce a bottle or two after a few weeks. I ended up mixed feeding last time and it really worked for us.

Oh Sazzles, I've just re-read my post now.

I BF'd DD and she did what I called sleeping through from the end of the dream feed (10.30ish) to around 7am at nine weeks. She dropped the dream feed at six months just after she started on solids.

We are lucky that she is just a brilliant sleeper, though, and loves her bed - she's currently having her daily two hour after-lunch nap at 20 months, then goes to bed at 7 and never wakes before 7. Can't help thinking number two will obviously be the exact opposite - am bracing myself!

I haven't got fantastic bfeeding news. DS was excl. bfed until 6 months, then in morning/bedtime until 12 months. We had the odd one or two sleep throughs (10-7) before 6 months but he was a lot better when we started feeding him solids, started sleeping 7-7 at about 9 months.

Sazzles - well done for still doing the Real Nappy Network stuff after 4 years. We used them for DS and will get them out of the loft for this LO. At first I was really enthusiastic, recommended them to everyone who asked, gave them info and showed them what I used and then I realised that I knew no-one who tried/stuck with them. And it all got a bit depressing. Now I just want to get on with using them without justifying it.

Libby Good for you on the real nappies. I bought some, then got PND and it was just one more guilt trip/thing to do so I'm afraid I switched to disposables without ever even using one... I did recycle them though as sold them to someone on MN! I do know a couple of people who stuck with them for a long time and there are plenty on MN who love them. There are whole threads on the things - am sure you've seen them!

And can I just say I'm amazed we're all managing to talk about bf/bottle feeding without it descending into a fight - but seriously it is nice for a change!

We kept a bag of disposables at the ready in case the washing didn't dry! Or it rained! It's not like they were banned from our house! And although it started off being a green thing for me, it turned into a saving money thing ? I bought all my nappies secondhand off Ebay.

I was just so full of it in the beginning and then slowly realised that everyone's just getting by, doing what they can to get through the day! I'm a bit more chilled now.

A bit.
