Buckets · 08/04/2008 11:14

LOL, I had already asked DH for a breadmaker for my birthday this year! Got bored of waiting and bought my own the other week. I love Lakeland!

VG, there was no rhyme or reason to my tears, my face just crumpled and out it all came! I get exactly the same thing after sex when I'm pg, took ages to convince DH there was nothing wrong the first few times. I try and take lots of deep breaths to calm down but that's really quite hard when your face has imploded.

Libbyssis, don't think the MW does much washing up in that sink LOL. In some PCTs they give you back your pot of wee to dispose of yourself! I've heard a few stories about lids not being replaced properly and leaking in handbags.

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 11:29

libby the sad thing is I love my kitchen and all that stuff but not as a birthday present from the love of my life

I STILL have to go back to jewellers and exchange the ring he bought me for our anny in Dec!!!! was a lovely thought and was gobsmacked when I got anything, shame it was lulling me into a false sense of security as was right back where we started for valentines and mothers day!

am not a demanding bird, would just like a little but of thought and effort

PetitFilou1 · 08/04/2008 11:30

Glad you all like the bags - just would add a caveat that I am not going to buy one (much as I would like to) I already splashed out on a blue leather Hennabecca bag with dd which is going to last the distance fine (unfortunately!) They are not the most exciting design but smart (you could get away with one as a work bag) and the design inside is brilliant. www.hennabecca.co.uk

Back problems - I am beginning to notice that I am slower at walking and getting aches and pains already. Am only 20 weeks (just). The answer is probably pilates but finding the time - hmmm that is another story. I was considering whether mama spanx would help this morning...

dizzy lol at your dh. Lakeland? For your birthday? What the fark is that all about?! My dh knows now that if he heads towards the expensive cosmetics counters/ cashmere/ anything sparkly he will be fine...

sazzles I sleep with either a pillow or a wedge maternity pillow under my bump. Definitely helps. You have my sympathies though.

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 11:35

anyway, enough of lakeland - am showing myself up here

more important things! wedding outfits for lardy pergnant me!!! I was in Matalan yesterday, managed to get dd2 a wee pair of shoes for £6 to be worn on the day - bargin! also picked up a couple of size 20/22 tops in hope that they might go round bump and THEY DO!!!!!!!!!!!

shazza pay attention here! (not that am calling your lardy like me but I know you're having problems too

one is a blue and white print tunic with elbow length sleeves, buttons down front to under chest where there is a tie for going round the back and a flared tunic - fits huge norks and over bump very nicely and covers multitude of sins all for £16!!! now its not going to be anywhere near as posh as half of them but feck it, its a lovely summery top which I can dress up with smart trousers and shoes/bag etc!

second one is more difficult to desc but also very nice. cream in colour with black spots which start small at top and get bigger towards bottom. wide sholder straps, sort of v shaped square neck with a tie at the chest then flared out again - also nice on not having any sleeves may put me off but will keep it anyway as was once again only £16 and looks nice

both made of cotton rather than that clingy stuff and sit really nicely

so girls, off you pop to matalan, sod the Isabella Oliver / Picchu / crave matty extortionists and get yourself some larger sized tops, smart trousers and keep the pennies for fabulous shoes lol

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 11:37

petitfilou if you work out where to get mamaspanx in the uk without mortgaging a kidney for them let me know

PetitFilou1 · 08/04/2008 11:40

dizzy I have to confess I haven't looked at the price but I can imagine (since Gywneth Paltrow swore by them...)

Btw I am now a homeowner. Hooray (except for the house needs a lot of work to drag it out of the 80s)

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 11:40

ffs - after all that look what I just had a brainwave to do and found

blue tunic top

dress haven't bought that one but it might work too?

can't see the spotty one [harumph]

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 11:42

petitfilou I think they're only about $20 US but I can't find them UK

well done on the homemaking, I've been trying on clothes and ignoring the chores

alittlebitshy · 08/04/2008 12:03

ooh dizzy that tunic dress is scrummy. I'm never sure if that kind of thing will suit me cos i'm quite short .

Just been brave and phoned our car man. He reckons he'll be here within the hour. Bets please ladies - will he make it by 5pm?!?! (how mean am i? )

Dd and I having a day pottering at home. Is nice. Prob too much cbeebies being viewed but she's playing and chattering too... I've done hoovering up and down (no dusting, please don't run your finger along my shelves etc), mopped kitchen and down stairs loo, on second load of washing, and just pfaffing about. Promised dd some paiting after lunch. maybe i shuoldn't have mopped kitchen floor already! . need to get her to do some of her homework too (she has to keep a holiday diary for school, plus has a work sheet and a book, but i think dh did the book last night with her)

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 12:16
stillhere · 08/04/2008 12:27

cyteen thanks for beer tip - being new in this area, just need to know where to find it now!!! Can't believe I've been making do with sparkling water for the last few months!

Had 20 week scan this morning and all hunky dory - phew. Had read an article on the loo this morning (sorry if TMI) on the way out of the door and of course it's about recurrent late miscarriages. Why do you always chance across these things just as you're feeling a bit twitchy and on your way to a scan? Anyway, all was well and we told the sonographer we didn't want to know the sex so they avoided that area (although we couldn't resist discussing between us afterwards the fact that we didn't see a willy...so who knows?).

Isn't it incredible how they can even see the different chambers of the heart, which I'm guessing must be about 5mm big or something? Unbelievable but quite lovely.

I managed to get a fab maternity dress from Topshop which I can't find on their website - sorry - but is grey and pretty simple. Looks like it would work post-pregnancy too and can go over jeans if it's too parky out (tis bloody freezing here so to be honest had forgotten I even owned it until I saw it there shivering in my wardrobe yesterday!). Going to start digging out old maternity tops too as have the builders in and sick of showing off excess flab over jeans.

Got to run - promise to check in more regularly in future.

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 12:33

stillhere great news on the scan

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 12:40

Oooh reflex was nice.

Good news on your clothes, dizzy that tunic is lovely. And petitfilou congratulations on your house! When will you be in situ?

Any potential breastfeeders, check these beauties out .

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 12:42

stillhere how lovely about your scan! We are having a surprise too, though DP is convinced it's a boy. LOL at your dressing for the builders!

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 12:43

VG think I'll pass on those!! by the time am all done with this pg I'll be able to bf baby on my lap as boobs will be on knees!

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 12:45

Actually I just read the site a bit more closely I think they are meant to go under another top - but still!

Me too - am v. heaving-bosomy at the moment, was lying on back in bed with book propped on ribs and couldn't read it!! Had to hold it in air over face.

PetitFilou1 · 08/04/2008 12:49

vg will be moving on 24 April - or thereabouts. Doing two days a week working from home from then on. Will miss my mum friends and my work colleagues - will be errrm interesting getting used to the change from London to a village!
Will be b/f'g too but don't dare open your link as am at work (having lunch at mo) Like dizzy third time b/fg so boobs will be in need of some assistance too in future!
stillhere good news on your scan and same to everyone else who has had a scan recently - I can't keep up!

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 12:51

rofl @ book dilema - right there with you

having been following thread re bf with biggerboobs - apparently its harder than when you have smaller norks - agree entirely
will find it and link it when get back from collecting girls

happy lunching all

cyteen · 08/04/2008 13:02

stillhere fantastic news about your scan , and congrats petitfilou on your new home ownership!

So has everyone else got massive norks then? Mine have hardly grown at all, although they are more veiny and bumpy than ever. They do look more round, a bit more like implants which is no bad thing I suppose.

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 13:11

Don't worry pf it's not pictures of vast nekkid bosoms or anything like that it's just breastfeeding tops! Reasonably work-friendly I should think, but not very attractive. Move will be strange I expect but you do have a bit of time to get homey before the baby arrives. Don't do too much during the actual move (having moved just before Christmas the horrors are fresh in my mind).

PetitFilou1 · 08/04/2008 13:16

cyteen make use of that implant look while it lasts....
vg Phew that's a relief! I can only assume you are meant to wear those under something -would cover the post partum jelly belly I suppose?

TwilightSurfer · 08/04/2008 13:39

Goodness, you go to bed and find the thread has exploded in conversation while you're snoring.

Okay I just have to say I'm saddened but glad that others are showing signs of BUTT-PAIN as a result of this pregnancy. Sleeping is often difficult for me as well (last night for example). Seems no position is a good position.

Glad the scan news is still all positive around here. Baby's are growing!!!!

Off to the pool...DD has swim lessons then I promised to let her play for a while after. HOPEFULLY I'll get a little floating-n-soaking in as well (this all takes place in the warm therapy pool).

And lastly, I posed this name to DH this morning...what do you think? Maggie Ethelyn. Ethelyn is my late mother's middle name. It came to me (that sounds kinda voodooy) in a dream last night.

Marx · 08/04/2008 13:39

Hello all

I'm new . Second babe is due early August - am absolutely huge already it seems, in my head I feel all slim with pleasant looking bump, just for my illusions to be shattered by a recent photograph, looks like I'm carrying enough water to fill the birth pool that I'm still considering buying / renting.

Marx x

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 13:40

Yes I think they are for undie wear but still dreadfully ugly.

Have just sent of freedom of info application for my medical notes from last birth, as there's lots I don't know / can't remember (twas a while ago!). Don't know if they will be of any use in planning this one, and I probably won't understand much of them (I wonder will they be handwritten?) but feel better for having done it.

Strange if I am nesting because I made those flapjacks the other day & they were a disaster, bread and butter pudding last night which was like toast with sweet scrambled egg, and lots of other things which are not working at all! I have lost my cook's touch I think. Or is the universe telling me to stay out of the kitchen...

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 13:43

Hi Marx & welcome.

Hi TS you're suffering too! I think Ethelyn is exremely pretty, I can't say I've ever heard it before, but how nice to link DD2 to your mother.
