VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 08:12

Hi am so behind with this thread I can't even begin to make any proper input! Delighted to see all the scan news, anyone got the concentration to add up boys & girls so far?

I notice ALBS back, have you moved yet? Sorry re. your car prang .

dizzy how's it going back at work? sazzles hope Little Miss Sazzles doing better now.

giggle mine said same re. kicks and placenta. Does anyone know can the placenta move around? I feel a lot of inner kicks but you just can't feel them on the outside and I'd really like to!

And nice bags from petitfilou - I am looking for a changing bag DP and I can both carry and be happy with - perhaps the multi stripe one. Am still no wiser about a pram / buggy / pushchair whatever you call it, I'm just bewildered by choice and can't think how to decide. DP wants a 3-wheeler to run with, I suppose something that's easy to fold (one-handed?), is neat, attractive, comfortable but it's going to take me a whole day or morning going through all the links you've posted.

I've been in real discomfort with lower back the last couple of week, I don't know is it just very weak or what. It's ok if walking, moving, eg at work during the day but sitting or lying in the evening is agony & I can't get the right position - on back, legs up on cushions, or the "recovery" position which used to be fine are now vv sore with jabs of sharp pain when I move out of the position. Have not been able to find yoga class for preg local to me, feel sure this would help somewhat. CC how was yours? Any tips from any of you guys on sleep positions or how to strengthen my weakling back? Boo hooooooo .

Oh have just had delish breakfast though, dorset cereals berries & cherries, tis yum. And reflexology today so really this post should have more AND it was my birthday yesterday, happy birthday to me, I am now 36 errrm 24...?

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 08:51

ALBS hope you're doing ok after your fright yesterday - nobody was hurt and thats the main thing

VG have you tried the recovery position with a pillow between your knees? Am about to get my gym ball out to bounce on again as the physio gave me some excercises to do to help with stomach and back strengthening - can you go to a physio or osteopath? what about some swimming instead of yoga, there is none near to me either I do have a yoga in pregnancy video from dd1 5yrs ago - could hunt that out and give it a whirl and let you know if its any good

and happy birthday VG!!! hope you were spoilt rotten and continue to be spoilt

sazzles was thinking of Jane powertrack for VG too but its not exactly neat or light and you can't fold it with one hand - been a while since I bought mine though, 5yrs, maybe the newer version is all of these things?

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 08:59

sorry - glad to hear mini sazzles feeling better too AND what a great site for buggies - I have too much to do today AARRGGGHHHH wish I hadn't seen it

libbyssister · 08/04/2008 08:59

Happy birthday for yesterday Vintage!

I've been a miserable cow for a couple of days because of my back pain. Well actually it's started to be more of a pain in my arse/hip with delightful shooting pins and needles. I had physio last year but was rubbish at doing the exercises in my own time and I'm just sick of it. I'm so lazy I want it to get better on its own accord!

Tried on my feeding-the-chickens Fliss Kendal dress last night. I wondered why I couldn't squeeze my norks into it until I realised they'd put a size 10 on a size 14 hanger! EVIL! Taking it back today

Congrats on your little boy CheerfulVicky!

Like the bags. I want a nice one this time. I just used the rucksack thing that came with our pram for DS but it would be nice to have a nice one! Thing is, I'd like something girly but DH objects when I send him off to the baby changing rooms with a flowery effort

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 09:10

evil lying coat hanger! I bought some clothes from Matalan yesterday, they don't have a matty range but do have a Rogers nd Rogers section which goes right up so have bought bigger sizes in hope I might achieve something reasonably nice

cyteen · 08/04/2008 09:23

Morning all, just checking in to show solidarity with the back pain massive I fell down some stairs about 5 years ago and landed with a heavy smackdown on my arse, resulting in a sprain around the coccyx. Every now and again it flares up and my back locks if I sit down for any length of time, plus it gives me awful shooting pains down both legs. It's been visiting for the last few weeks and I am heartily sick of it. Do you think the ligament-relaxing pregnancy hormones are affecting it? Seems like lots of us are having wonky backs...

Anyway, the sun is shining and I'm not at work so no real complaints from me .

HI everyone. I have been off line for a few days as BT messing me around because I was switching to Sky broadband.

Glad to hear all the scans went well. I had another one last week to check the heart as they couldn't see something on the last scan. All was fine and now I don't need anymore scans. Baby on track to be same size as the others at birth (around 8 pounds full term). I am 24 weeks yesterday.

Changing bags!!! Love them! Great site - almost too many to choose from. My personal favourites are from this site: totally sexy bags! I have one of their small messenger bags from last time which Iuse as a hamdbag now but I am so tempted to get a larger one as a changing bag for this time around. They are pricey but as its an american site, the exchange rate is excellent at the moment!

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 09:31

at the 10-as14, that's terrible! I think you should totally embrace the FK look and go with the headscarf but not sure what you would do with the "shoes and socks" of this outfit, perhaps a rope-soled wedge for summer and a welly for today! I'm like you, want back pain to go away of its own accord, but I have been swimming about 2ce a week for a while. I am not a good swimmer though - very slow, splashy and gaspy - and I suppose it's like doing yoga wrongly, it just doesn't have the right effect.

I've tried recovery with pillow, wondering will I splash out on one of those nursing pillows and try that. Last night was like hospital ward, I slept on my back with this folded into a cube and shoved up against my bum, legs up it, knees bent over it. When DP came to bed he was but to be fair to him he brought me a hot water bottle too!

I was truly spoiled on birthday, dindins at my mother's with lots of family for cake and presents and cetera, just like a child's birthday party really and MOST gratifying at my age! Good old family.

Excellent page there Sazzles, will now browse same as wait for reflex lady.

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 09:34

I've probably posted this link about ten times already but BAGS!!

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 09:34

sazzles sorry but it just sounds like such a ME thing to do and its nice to know am not alone

IlanaK how very dare they take so long, do they not know about MN?!?!?
nice bags btw

VG glad to hear you had a nice day, enjoy your refelxology - am off to tackle the playroom office/spare room/ dumping ground

oh that's bad - a 10 on a 14 hanger. I picked up a top in primark that was 8-10 instead of 12-14 last year and wondered why my norks felt rather constrained and why all the fat on my arms had exploded out the s;eeves. Iwas rather relieved when i realised it was the top's fault NOT mine .

Am a bit reconvered form my cvar incident yesterday, but awaiting our notoriuly LATE car man. He is cheap, comes to us and is good when he does the work but he can be a day late sometimes.... Ill phone and threaten tears if i've not seen him by lunchtime. lol.

We were meant to be getitng sky plus today. Fed up with Virgin (bills went up and whereas previously dh has talked them down, this time, no go). But the man has be.. and gone.. and we still have virgin. Apparently our tv is in the "wrong" bit of the room and he can't see how to set it up so the cabling isn't trailing across the floor etc. They're sending another engineer next week. .

Buckets · 08/04/2008 09:44

Happy birthday VG!
PF Like the bags but it's got to be backpackable for me, esp once my DS is kicked out of the pushchair I'll definitely need both hands free. They did have a nice backpack one on there but it was £110!!!

I had a hormone fit last night, told DH I was feeling wobbly, went to make some toast and go to bed but burst into great wracking sobs as I tried to butter it! He had to finish the job and carry it upstairs as my legs turned to jelly and I could only just make it to the bed without crawling I was so exhausted. I used to get this a lot in my prev pregnancies but even DH has noticed how well I've been doing this time around.

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 09:49

buckets sweetie, at least you know its your hormones and your dh sounds truely lovely. I hope it passes. I find myself weeping at all sorts of things - yesterday was watching an episode of House and was inconsolible as the dog in it died
gave dh a row for not warning me before I watched it

libbyssister · 08/04/2008 09:52

TBH the rest of Fliss dress is a tent (fitted at the bust and then very free flowing with big pockets for your chicken feed! ) so it wasn't that hard!

LOL at your wee story too! I've taken a gallon in before now and the midwife has looked at it, dipped her stick in a tiny bit and then trugged the rest down the sink (is that hygenic?) so obviously they don't need much!

Off to look at bag links!

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 09:54

Aw Buckets - that was me about a week ago. Was it the EFFORT of buttering that wore you out, or the FUTILITY of buttering, or the unbearably long upstairs tramp ahead of you, or sheer irrationality??? There is still a scraggy pile of shreddy tissues beside my bed.

The bag I like (allegra) is 398 pounds! So will I, won't I, will I, won't I... errm nope.

Re sizing one of DP's presents to me was an absolutely gorgeous maternity top from a fab boutique, lovely lovely lovely, pretty, summery, perfick shape, and it's about the width of my wrist. I didn't say that to him of course but .

Loving CoolChick.

VintageGardenia · 08/04/2008 09:56

Shite I have no cash to pay reflex lady and she is due in 10 mins what am I thinking have to run ( ) to cash machine.

dizzydixies · 08/04/2008 09:58

VG am impressed at dh's efforts, was it from that boutique I was dribbling over online
dh noted the farking lakeland catalogue and said, anything you fancy for your birthday?

NOT OUT THE FARKING LAKELAND CATALOGUE FFS

someone have a word with Mr Dixie please as if he gets it wrong AGAIN this year he's getting thrown to the wolves

libbyssister · 08/04/2008 10:13

LOL dizzy. Why WOULDN'T you want Storage Solutions TM for your birthday
