nice to see you alittlebitshy hope you're keeping ok

alittlebitshy · 06/04/2008 09:50

lovely to be back. have skim read but now need to shower etc so dd can make a snowman before church.

can anyone summarise the discussions about prams???? I may get a new one after all (cheers loudly !!) cos we can't find the carrycot. dh thinks i've secretly taken it to the dump in my sleep so as to get a new one but i seriously don't know where it is.

PetitFilou1 · 06/04/2008 10:30

dizzy The top is good - the wrap style is a pain when you go to the loo as it tends to unravel a bit and you have to rewrap yourself while trailing fabric on the floor (not very hygienic in the loos!) but you might know this if you have one like ths already. But it is a glam top and I agree you could dress it down or up.

Prams - I like this one but have a bugaboo and two maclarens so I don't think I will be allowed. www.silvercross.co.uk/dazzle.php Looks like the perfect combination of buggy and pram to me - but more for those living in cities probably. TS Is that a 3 wheeler - you can sometimes have trouble fitting those in your car (depending on what car you have of course)

About two inches of snow on the ground here. Very unusual for London. Dcs will be back from swimming soon so no doubt I will have to go out in it shortly.

TwilightSurfer · 06/04/2008 10:43

Dizzy, so nice to see you again. You have been missed. I really love the top. Wishing you a restful day.

Welcome back Alittlebitshy.

Petitfilou....I will openly admit my choice of vehicle does little to help the environment so three wheels, four wheels, TEN WHEELS...it would fit.

It's still very dark here (5:40am) so I've no idea what the weather's going to be. The plan is to finish the laundry which I made great strides with last night. Otherwise I just hope it's warm and sunny...I could use the light therapy.

cyteen · 06/04/2008 10:44

dizzy, helloooo! We've missed you around these parts, although understandable that you've been otherwise occupied - that's some pretty grim news up your way, eh?

I love the top and think the colour is ace, in fact I think I might have drooled over that very top when I was wedding outfit shopping last month.

The weather here is perfect sofa-surfing weather: woke up to snow on the cars and rooftops, bright bright sunshine but very cold. The perfect day to enjoy from indoors! So I am lying on the sofa in my pjs watching American Idol and laughing at my cats chasing each other.

Hope everyone else is having as restful a day!

CaptainCaveman · 06/04/2008 11:42

Welcome back ALBS - I did email you to see if you were ok! Good to have you here again!

As ever, no snow in NOttingham. I think we had a few flurries last night but none of it settled and its now bright and ccccccold. Just back from church and trying to decide what to do with the day. I'm very tempted to go pram shopping but not sure dh agrees....also need to get new bedroom sorted for ds (ie. buy duvet cover etc). Decisions, decisions....

Only 21 hours til our scan, can you tell I'm excited!!!!?????!!!

Buckets · 06/04/2008 15:11

We've had 4 seasons in 1 day today - buckets of rain at 7am, followed by beautiful goosedowny snow, now glorious sunshine. Off to my mum's for roast dinner tonight, funnily enough I am wearing a top and skirt she's passed on to me (she's feeling fat at present apparently).
Hi ALBS.

CaptainCaveman · 06/04/2008 15:13

Ohhh ohhh, my perfect pushchairhere. I managed to coerce dh into looking at pushchairs and he was suitable impressed by the quinny buzz 3. Anyone else have one of these?

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 06/04/2008 15:23

that should read suitably impressed!

TwilightSurfer · 06/04/2008 15:38

Well getting up at 4:30am on a Sunday does lend itself to getting LOADs done before the house wakes. I've finished all the laundry, gone out for breakfast, completed my weekly shopping, brought home breakfast for the lazy ones and crawled back into bed (where DH STILL is) to rest...it's 10:30am. I think I'm done for the day!

Captain that's a really cool stroller. Suddenly they are all starting to look the same to me though. I wonder if there's a conspiracy out there working to trick pregnant women...maybe all prams are built by the same person but given different brand names according to color....

TwilightSurfer · 06/04/2008 15:45

As a matter of fact, Captain, your stroller looks almost exactly like the stroller I posted about last night. I have the up on the laptop now side by side......yours has two wheels in front and mine only one....

TwilightSurfer · 06/04/2008 15:50

I think yesterday's running around and today's errands have caught up with me. I DON'T WANT TO MOVE! My back, butt and legs feel like they belong to someone who's 100 years old. Not to mention my belly feels like it's LITERALLY pushing forward and out. Pregnancy is BIZARRE!!

TwilightSurfer · 06/04/2008 16:30

I just preordered my stoller. NO MORE CONFUSION! DD is so excited she gets to use it first. I'm excited because I'm saving $100US!!!! That's a lot of baby wipes.

cyteen · 06/04/2008 17:15

God, TS, you make me feel like even more of a sloven than I am, with your getting up early and doing stuff. I'm STILL on the sofa in my pyjamas

CaptainCaveman · 06/04/2008 17:23

Wow TS, give yourself a lie-down - that's nearly a whole weeks work you've done in a day. And there was me thinking about doing the relatively small pile of ironing and deciding to come on mn instead .

We tried some sunglasses on ds when we were out (kiddies ones) and he pointed his index finger at me and said "heyyyyy, sexyyyy". What a dude.

Captain My friend has the Quinny Buzz and loves it. It folds very small and is pretty light. Not sure I'd put a newborn in it but it'd be fine after a few months.
TS What car do you have? Please don't tell me you've got a Hummer.... I may have to go all eco on you! And...what are you like getting up at 4.30am?!

PetitFilou1 · 06/04/2008 19:44

PS Dizzy just clicked about what is going on in Arbroath. Grim.

TwilightSurfer · 06/04/2008 20:01

Ooof had to nap...feel a bit refreshed now.

LOL Petitfilou. No I don't have a Hummer....bad crash test ratings (believe it or not). I drive a Chevy Tahoe. It's not the worst of the worst however it's not the best BUT it's PAID FOR and that makes all the difference at the present moment.

The sun finally is OUT and it's heating up nicely. We're head next door to play in the neighbor's new sandbox. YEAH!!

PhilB · 06/04/2008 21:32

Hi all,

every time I get to look at the board there's not only another page, but another whole thread!

Anyway, here's my update for the list:
01AUG PhilB, 31, SE London, 1st DC, don't know the sex, 20 week scan all fine.

Interesting to hear about the Doppler affecting the baby - my MW said something similar. She listened to the heartbeat and then I had the scan about an hour later and the baby was mad all day - thrashing about for hours. I guess the combination was a bit stressful for it.

Have been buying baby things, aahhh. And maternity / breast pads, hmmm. Prospect of heavy bleeding came as a shock to DH while out shopping today - he turned distinctly green. I think we'll need to have a talk so there aren't too many more surprises...

PetitFilou1 · 06/04/2008 21:51

Phil
Your dh definitely needs some education. What does he think that the baby gently slides down a chute carpeted with rose petals and comes out all smelling of Johnson's baby powder
Seriously though if he doesn't realise there will be bleeding, then he doesn't realise you are going to be healing inside for a while either does he. A bit of a worry! Or maybe he is just a bit squeamish - in which case he should avoid the goal end and stay holding your hand (I nearly broke my dh's fingers first time round...)

PhilB · 06/04/2008 22:34

Petit - he is definitely squeamish, and battling valiantly to deal with all the gory information. I think I just sprung it on him a bit, he needs more warning!

But yes, it is a little worrying... He plans to stay up the 'safe' (depending on how bad it gets) end I think, eyes averted. I'm still wondering about taking someone else in as well, in case he passes out.

Do you know where I can get one of those rose petal chutes? They sound pretty good!

cyteen · 06/04/2008 23:36

Blimey. I think I might be incubating a small squid, judging by the amount of kicks and wriggles that have been going on today.
