Dizzy don't feel bad about the flying bit as I'm basically phobic regarding air travel these days. For me to make to the UK I'd either have to charter my own personal flight OR find a cruise. ONE DAY however I will make it across the pond!!

DD is currently playing shoe store in my closet. She's already shown me three pairs she purchased using her mommy purse.

Let's see....I found MN researching/googling toddler behavior issues a few years back. It just happened that every bad problem DD had somebody had chatted about on MN and it showed up when I googled. I was AMAZED at how HONEST the discussions were so I joined after lurking for a bit. I had used iVillage (or ParentingPlace as it's also known) but their message boards aren't as easy to use. That's a hard one to explain but I just absolutely hated using the site. When I decided to have a second baby MN came it EXTREMELY handy since I was having problems in that department (13 months of NOTHING). Now here I am and I'm very happy to be here.

Sorry I've yet to spot Victoria. Our circles are very different. Maybe she'll blow through during the summer months...

Girls I want to stay and chat but its just taken me 40 minutes to catch up on all the posts since i last posted last night!! And now it's 9pm and I'm off to watch Crimewatch....(am I sad?!)

I'm sadly jealous of you all watching crimewatch. TV here in Singapore is rubbish. Off for 20 week scan on Saturday but a bit nervous as people will keep pointing out that I'm not very big yet. I'm sure a bump looks bigger on the average Singaporean though as most of them are tiny to begin with

Having a really bad day at work (surrounded by incompetent people so am cheering myself up by catching up with MN during my lunch break but annoyingly have to be here till 8pm tonight so I can speak to some people in the US.

Was checking out your profile (lovely pics btw) and see you're a fan of LA Ink, so thought I'd tell you I have a half-finished backpiece by Hannah Aitchison. She is the sweetest, nicest person in the world, and so fast when she works too. Not sure when we'll get it finished now that her career has gone stratospheric...maybe I'll pop up on the show one day

Hope everyone's feeling tip-top today; I'm great apart from my stupid back injury which has flared up again the last few days so I'm walking around like someone with a stick up their bum. Suspect I might be working from bed for the duration.

TS - if you're not very overweight and having no diabetes symptoms I wouldn't put yourself through the horrid sugar test. You are allowed to say no!
Have just won an auction for some more cotton nappies, think I must now have reached the requisite 20 small ones. Will have to do a stock check and stop buying them.

Cyteen REALLY!! Hannah does some AMAZING work. The last episode I watched was her and her little brother working together on a piece. It was BEAUTIFUL! I'm not inked (yet) but my little brother has a few pieces of art. I just totally love the dynamic of the show and my DD loves Kat. You should soooo try to get yours finished while they are filming...after the baby's born, of course. LET ME KNOW TOO so I can watch.

Buckets the sugar test is par for the course here in the US. Everyone gets it. It's a standard in our prenatal care.

It's April Fool's Day....here's hoping I don't fall prey to any pranks.

Wow, would be interested to see stats of how many non-overweight symptom-free ladies have suddenly discovered gestational diabetes through the test! Actually I'm always reading on UK parenting websites women refusing to have it when offered just for weight reasons. The test sounds revolting!

It's not nasty bad but you have to drink about 8oz of this sugar water stuff. Tastes like a really sweet Sunkist or Orange Crush soda but without the fizzy goodness. They check your blood sugar level before then one hour after you finish. In the good old days you had to be fasting....now you don't which TO ME doesn't seem like a "clean" test. Anyway I'll take my laptop and watch a movie while I'm waiting. As for finding out when you have no outward symptoms, my neighbor did. It happened during her second pregnancy. Just after her DD2 turned 3 she developed full blown diabetes. She's not overweight AT ALL and there's no family history.

Buckets It isn't that revolting. It's only drinking a bit of lucozade! My mum used to give us lucozade when we were ill when we were little.

I just ate a load of macaroni cheese. 20% fat according to the label. Now that is more revolting

Yes, I get the diabetes tests here as well. I was a bit annoyed that the doctor didn't discuss it with me, just told me to go off and get a blood test (I don't think that I am high risk), but if TwilightSurfer says that it's standard in the US, I guess that my ante-natal care here is based on a US model.

Not much choice for pain relief either, an epidural or nothing.

Whereabouts are you longwayfromhome? That sounds pretty rubbish, an epidural or nothing - do you really not get any choice?

I have to have the sugar test too as my dad has type 2 diabetes. Am planning to take a long book with me!

Ah yes, I am in Argentina. The medical system here is public, private or social security (these are health plans for people who are in employment). I have private health insurance with a local hospital, which is excellent, but my experience might therefore be a bit limited to what this hospital offers, so please don't take it as a generalisation to the country as a whole! I will remember the advice about a book. Thanks!
