Shazza2002 · 31/03/2008 15:32

I hope to work until 11th July. Not that I've thought about it atall . I will be 37W. Maybe a bit ambitious though as considering last time I was in hospital from 38W but we'll give it a go. Want to work as late as possible to have as much time afterwards. .

poppysocks · 31/03/2008 15:36

Lucky you Libby. I'm currently trying to curb my desperation for some time off as I'm planning to save as much annual leave as possible to take before the baby's due and only start the mat leave w/c 11 Aug, which is when I'll prob. have the CS. Then take 9 months and tack more hols on the end, which hopefully will take me to some time in June so can't really complain. Just need some holiday now!!!

Went back at the start of the winter last time and I'm sure that made it all worse, so at least hopefully this time going back when the days are at their longest should make it feel easier.

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 15:39

libby you're just right, dd1 starts school on 19th Aug so I want July off, even though am due on 30th July.

dh will be away working 15hr+ shifts over TITP and its dd1's birthday on 7th July. I won't have any help in run up either as pil have booked 2 holidays within weeks of each other - one in last week of June & first week of july and a 10day cruise in 3rd week of july. my parents are no use at all so its all down to me to look after girls and not go into labour in middle of TITP

I have dropped down from 7day shifts to 4day shifts now so at least I only work 4days then am off for 5 or 6 and using annual leave I can try to be off sooner if need be.

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 15:41

poppy will our girls be going to the same high school?!? strange to think that far ahead lol

are you wanting the same as dd1 where you can have a more formal version of a name and shorten it for everyday use?

libbyssister · 31/03/2008 15:46

Well, we're going to be poor poor poor but we'll just have to be careful for a couple of years. Hardly the end of the world, lot worse off than me, etc. etc. You can live on jacket potatoes, right?

SKYTVADDICT · 31/03/2008 15:51

I hope so Libby because if I don't go back we will have to - that and Pasta.

I was going to leave 4 July (baby due 8 August) but boss was horrid to me a couple of weeks ago so I decided I was going earlier. Trouble is someone is on hols until 27 June so that is really the earliest I can go. I do only work 2 days a week though and have two weeks off in between now and then so shouldn't complain really.

poppysocks · 31/03/2008 15:54

Strange thought isn't it Dizzy! Hopefully by then they'll have built the new school. They're saying at the mo 8-10 yrs so that should be just right for them all!

Ideally I would like another name that can be shortened, but I suspect that whatever we go for we'll find someway of changing it! We'd like something that works in French too as we spend a fair bit of time there with DH's family.

Buckets · 31/03/2008 16:00

Look here to find your nearest/next NCT sale - they are fab for tiny baby clothes. I got loads of brightly coloured unisex stuff last month (since then have given away the lilac gingham Monsoon outfit that snuck its way home with me of course.)
Hate white baby clothes, I'm looking forward to getting the tiedye out again!
Cyteen - I do home care work so some might not think that's so sweet. I've found it much more fun than I expected and once you've changed one of my DS's revolting nappies, stripwashes and adult nappies are a doddle.
Libbysister - jacket, beans and cheese is a perfectly balanced meal actually! You'll find you save loads of money by not working actually - stuff like clothes, lunches, travel etc. And you'll have more time to spend shopping around for better deals on your outgoings.

libbyssister · 31/03/2008 16:02

SkyTV - you know you have the legal right to leave whenever you want after 11 weeks before your due date? It doesn't matter if it doesn't 'suit' your employer/holiday arrangements. Although, I know in practice that's easier said than done. I've been getting some funny looks (I think they know they can't say anything) when I say what date I'm leaving on 9 June...

libbyssister · 31/03/2008 16:04

And DS will be old enough by then to be sent to work up the chimneys...

Hi ladies, just thought I'd poke my head in and say hello. Got my 20wk scan tomorrow morning. Nervous as per usual but doing my best to be positive
Did someone mention knitted cardies? Word filtered back to me that someone close is knitting in sand coloured wool - don,t want to sound ungrateful ...but...sounds too much like beige to me. xxx

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 17:53

karney good luck with the scan tomorrow - and jfyi sand is a hell of a lot better than puke coloured lol

libby chuck him down the mines - more money lol

just taken girls out for a walk - well I walked, dd2 in pram and dd1 on her bike so it was more of a push and cycle really
they're building a brilliant new park to replace the run down one along the road from us, dd1 has been waiting very patiently as we walk past it all the time with the dog, until summer when we've promised her she can go ALL the time if she wants.

anyway, some wee shites older children have pulled down the fences and were playing in the unfinished area chucking all the bark about and throwing litter and generally being wee sods menaces.

poor dd was devestated and I agree. could they not at least wait until its finished before they start to sodding ruin it

when we were leaving, I let her have a shot on the only remaining swing and chute from original park she shouts over

bye everyone (to nobody in particular)
bye naughty boys

I nearly died, there was no way I could've legged it far enough to get away from them had they turned lord of the flies on my arse

anyway, tea time in dizzy household them early night all roung me thinks!!

Oh my...lots of good chatter here today.

Honestly I think since my last post you ladies have listed almost all the names on my baby name list. DH however just emailed and cut the list down to 7. Maggie is still on it!!! Reese, Amelia, Kate, Blakely, Lauren and Bailey are the others he didn't trash. Odd as half of those I KNOW he said he didn't like. I think I'm just going to stick it out with Maggie and attempt to work wonders matching it up with a proper middle name.

I would just like to add a dash of reality to the baby clothes shopping topic. All you REALLY need is a top and diaper. When you go out and about you'll toss a blanket over them instictively. At night they can remain in the top/onesie or sleep in a simple gown. Less is more so if you haven't found exactly what you want yet....you're probably doing yourself a favor.

Well my doctor's visit went well. I've only gained 8 pounds so far. The baby's heart beat was 140 and you could hear her moving around on the doppler. Of course she didn't kick the belly in front of the doctor but I did tell him she's been quite active. I go back in 4 weeks (24W) for yet another check up AND THE SUGAR TEST. YUK!! For those of you know having 24W visits, will you do you sugar test at 28W?

TwilightSurfer · 31/03/2008 18:56

Here's another name: Bess. My OB/GYN's wife is due May 12th and that's the name she's trying call the baby. He wants to use Ainsley...he's Scottish. Both are great.

Shazza I'm running out RIGHT NOW as I think your blanket was just put in my mailbox!!! BRB

dizzydixies · 31/03/2008 18:57

TS we only get sugar tests if chance of diabetes I think - we do the lucozade challange lol glad you got on well at the Dr though and well done on only putting on 8lbs, I don't even want to think about it!!

Reese was on our list for dd2 as mil is Teresa and we opted for Reese, Rae or Tess as a shortened version for mn - she is Lexie Rae as it sounded best

remember too we're in the fecking wintery all year round apart from May, UK so need a little more than a top and vest. Well thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it!!

TwilightSurfer · 31/03/2008 19:05

Dizzy I guess you are a bit more north than me from a global standpoint. Honestly I just feel like everyone is right next door at this point.

SHAZZA YOUR BLANKET IS HERE!!!! Will ship out in the morning!!!!

I realize 8 pounds isn't much but today is THE FIRST DAY that anyone has noticed I was pregnant. 5 different people commented on my belly so YEAH it's finally obvious to the masses!!!!

I really have no clue what the temp is in the UK, do I? I've been outside my country's border....but to warm locations like Jamacia, Acapulco and Cozumel. I guess I should really get out more.

Shazza2002 · 31/03/2008 20:00

Thanks TS, I've emailed you to confirm the address. Thank you so much again

Everybody keeps commenting on my scan photo, not that I've shown many people of course and I hadn't realised how lucky we were to get such a great pose. So feeling very chuffed tonight.

Plus for some reason since the scan, this baby has really found it's feet. I sqealed out loud on the tube this morning, it just caught me by surprise.
