OOh re exercise I do an hour of karate a week atm as well as walking everywhere with the dc.

I shall continue the karate till I get to big to be comfy. I have told my instructor so I will not be sparring or doing anything that would cause a problem iyswim.

mad4mybaby · 31/03/2008 16:46

blimey! Karate! Go you!

I live to far out to walk anywhere with ds, obviously round shops etc we do. Saying that i cant walk very far as even though i am quite fit i get really out of breath and my heart starts racing at the mo! Guess its all the extra blood pumping?!

dozymare · 31/03/2008 16:55

Karate - I am impressed....(but not as impressed at how big this thread grows....I only went to pick DS up from school, then a quick park visit and there's so much to catch up on!)

I have updated the list as my dates have now changed so I too am a Quad with oblomov hanaflower and Sarac79

Hello, can I join your thread?
Found out a week ago after trying for 2 years on and off - due in November (my first). Trying not to get excited as early days. Congratulations to you all. I have ulcerative colitis so I'm really hoping I can stay well and it won't flare up and cause problems - it raises the risks. I keep imagining pain and twinges that could be the start of a colitis flare up or could be just wind with the pregnancy - but they go away again so I'm not too worried.
But trying to keep calm and do all the right things. Have any of you looked at a scary nutrition book called Optimum Nutrition? Put the frighteners on me big time - I thought I eat healthily with organic veg box etc, but now I'm thinking I need to add shredded seaweed to every meal!

Hi ruthless, congrats on your BFP.
I would not be reading any nutrition books either, doesn't matter what you eat, as long as you do and it doesn't come back

Wee pea is taking what they need anyway, whether you like it or not.
Hey, you know those moon crescent things on your fingernails that shows how much calcium is in your system? No moon, no good. high moons, bad? I have no moons at all now, I used to have lovely healthy nails before DD too. Grr she stole my calcium

Was a lovely visit to the doctors, can't remember who it was who had a bad visit, but Mine couldn't have been happier.
She laughed and said she presumed it was good news from the size of my grin. Then said it was lovely news to get in the middle of an afternoon. I feel much better cos I talked over a few things and she reassured me that I must come in as soon as I feel bad and come back as often as I feel I need to, not to be frightened of bothering them. I said she would live to regret that
Not sure what happens with MW up here, neither did she but she said she would tell them my history and they may be in contact soon.
I don't remember seeing one before 12weeks last time though

TMI alert: Anyone still suffering with constipation? sorry, it is just that she says you can safely take lactulose to,.. erm,.. um, soften things. Any others are too strong but that one is ok. It's bleurgh but at least it helps and does not affect the bean.

twinklingfairy · 31/03/2008 18:39

Oops that was not meant to be a capital m on mine, as if I was gloating about my doc visit

dozymare · 31/03/2008 18:46

Welcome to the group Ruthless!!!!!!

Twinkling - try apricots for your constipation!!! Work a treat for me

Hello you pregnant 'should we tell people' 'what shall we eat' 'is this normal, isn't this normal' 'have we all gone a little crazy since falling pregnant' ladies!!

Glad to hear some good scans today - Divedaisy - fingers crossed you soon get to see that little heart beating.
Scully - really sorry for you - take some me time to chill out and look after yourself.

Am terrible remembering who said what but in terms of MS mine is up and down and morning then night so am sure totally normal. Sometimes feel totally fine other times not.

In terms of runny tum - I posted about that a while ago and still have it - I went that way with my other pg's too - didn't plug me up at all! I am convince half the time that is is something I've eaten but think it;s just how it is with me.

Really want to chill on the sofa but have a few hours work ahead of me again.

Roca · 31/03/2008 19:28

ahhhhh, am hungry but what to eat?????????????????????????????????

mad4mybaby · 31/03/2008 19:30

well i just made roast for me and ds! Thought id get the most out of being able to cook all the nice stuff whilst i can!

Do you fancy something sweet or savoury?

Is this dinner or a snack?

Roca · 31/03/2008 19:35

haven't had dinner yet - I put off breakfast to lunch time too as just didn't dancy anything, then, like now, started to feel a bit faint!!!!!

I think I fancy rice actually so maybe rice with melted cheese on?!!!! hmmmmm!

mad4mybaby · 31/03/2008 19:38

rice is good. Cheese is good source of protein and i read you should have some protein before you go to bed as protein keeps you full up longer which can help reduce nausea first thing when you wake up as your belly isnt as empty

ceebee74 · 31/03/2008 20:03

I really can't keep up with this thread!!

Glad all of those who had scans today had a positive outcome

Ruthless - welcome to what must be the most popular thread in MN history

Exercise - I am pretty much carrying on as normal which is high-impact aerobics twice a week. I spoke to my aerobics instructor last week and she said it was fine to carry on but just take it a little easy (your heart rate is not meant to go above 140 beats per minute apparently) so I am just easing off a little bit towards the end of the class. Am fully expecting MS and exhaustion to hit at any time like it did with DS so am trying to carry on until then as I doubt I will be in a fit state to go to the gym at all . I carried on going to the gym upto 7 months pg with DS although I was pretty much just walking on the treadmill and cycling by that stage.

MS - mine is coming and going aswell but it is not severe - just waves of nausea which seem to pass quite quickly. Couldn't eat my breakfast yesterday cos of it but not felt anything today at all.

Just had a bowl of chicken soup and a bread roll - it was just what I fancied but the soup wasn't as nice as I thought it would be.

Is anyone cutting out caffeine? I read somewhere that it is not good but unfortunately I keep craving diet coke and am drinking more now than I used to - any thoughts?

x

Roca · 31/03/2008 20:06

diet coke is my vice and I feel so much guilt everytime I have a sip - I may as well be taking coke!

mad4mybaby · 31/03/2008 20:32

is it the bubbles you need or the taste? If its bubbles try lemonade as i dont think that has caffeine in it. If its the taste... hmmm try coca cola bottles (the sweets)!

pinkyminky · 31/03/2008 20:53

Hi All sorry not posted for ages, have been feeling RUBBISH.
Such a busy thread!
Caffeine- the nhs list of things they advise avoiding is here.

Roca- cheese and rice is good (that's what I had!).

I find that if you spread your meals right out into separate components you can eat. i.e. fruit first- eat what is most easily digested first then say jacket potato on it's own then 20 mins later what you might have had as it's filling. Do not drink anything until you have completely finished eating. I know it sounds like a really freaky way of eating, but it does work.
You kind of have to make yourself eat. I feel sick before after and whilst eating, but I'm not being sick the whole time this time around.
If you can't eat anything without being sick you should go to your doctor and demand help - there are things they can prescribe in extreme circumstances. I had hyperemesis with both my other babies. I am doing quite well so far and I'm really hoping I don't end up in hospital again. I can't believe I actually wanted to get pregnant again!

Dead jealous of all these scan dates. My booking appointment is for Wednesday so I hop my scan is for next week or thereabouts.

Anyone else had to buy maternity jeans already?

twinklingfairy · 31/03/2008 20:56

I didn't know that, about filling up with protein before bed
(protein, or protien, I before E except after C, but it looks wrong!) Stoopid rule doesn't work

But rice with melted cheese?? eurch.

I feel like I have been eating all day long. Then didn't eat a proper dinner. Now feel I need to eat again, but have no interest in doing so
It is all so rotten at this stage, whine whine.........

dozymare · 31/03/2008 20:56

Pinkyminky - think I am going tohave to dig my maternity clothes out of the loft! Skinny jeans were very snug by lunchtime.......

I too have a serious diet coke addiction but have substitued it with ginger cordial and sparkling water...tastes so much better! or use sugar free fruit juice.....i use that for Orange fizz!!!

pinkyminky · 31/03/2008 20:57

That's hope not hop

dozymare · 31/03/2008 20:57

rice with cheese - double yuck......about to have a bowl of cruchy nut cornflakes!

skibump · 31/03/2008 20:59

Hi can I join? Even though I don't have direct access to the pc at the mo, so I'll be the really unreliable one who can't keep up with the thread

EDD 5th Nov, already have ds who's 2

Exercise - I stopped running when it started hurting - I had a m/c last year. I'll try to get pilates or something sorted out once I get to 12 weeks

Also feeling sick - or more windy really (tmi) I've cut out wheat as I seem to develop a sensitivity to it with pg. Worried chocolate might be affecting me the same way this time

I had gastroenteritis a couple of weeks ago, and don't really know what caused it so I'm really hoping it hasn't affected the baby [worried] Anybody know anything about this??

pinkyminky · 31/03/2008 21:03

Belvoir ginger cordial is yummy. And you're right it has to be fizzy.
Oh Dozymare I gave all my maternity clothes away after dd- I was soo adamant that I would NEVER get pregnant again. Fortunately my friends have taken pity on me and loaned me clothes, plus GAP has a maternity clothes sale on

twinklingfairy · 31/03/2008 21:06

Pinky, you are doing really well! You must be about 9 weeks now. I was getting really bad by that point last time ( I had teh hyper thing and was in hospital too). I am already thinking to myself that I am not doing this again.
The fear is overwhelming. Everytime I feel nauseaus (sp?) I am a wee bit panicked. ANd am only 6 weeks
I had forgotten about not drinking whilst eating, though I found that V hard. It helped to wash down whatever it was I didn't want to be eating.
