Thread title reflects the fact that every day that passes it dawns on me a bit more

lazyhippo movements are very suttle initially many people describe them as feeling like wind. Wind is always painful for me I described the initial movements as being like bubbles popping or something small like spider skuttling round in my tummy. Would put money on it being movements you are feeling

JODIEhavingababy · 25/03/2008 09:55

Morning all.

Hope everyonme s feeling alittle better today? Well I'm back at my desk and so far haven't even looked at work! need to get it done!

Lazyhippo, I would say they were movements, likelittle bubbles popping in your belly?

Kaz - good luck with flat hunting.. How's your Mum?

I am 24 Weeks today! I can't believe what a mile stone that is! It only gets better from here on in! I look at it as every day a bonus now! 16 weeks to go???

Also we've been invited to a wedding on the 12th July (I'm due on the 15th) It's only the night do, but would you accept the invitation or not? I'm humming and hahhing about it.........

EEC · 25/03/2008 10:55

Good luck with the flat Kaz. I hope it's everything you're looking for.

Jodie - I went to a wedding (day and evening do) only days before due date with DS. It was tiring, but I just sat down alot, and didn't do much dancing obviously. I did enjoy it, and it keeps your mind occupied elsewhere for a few hours. As it turned out DS was 10 days late, so all was fine. Is it near your hospital? If not, make sure you know where the nearest hospital is and try and get DP not to drink so he can drive you there if necessary... And let them know you might have to cancel at the last minute. If numbers are tight for them they might rather know in advance. Still, I only went as it was one of my best friends. If I hadn't been that fussed about going, I think I might have turned it down.

Feeling really low in energy today...

JODIEhavingababy · 25/03/2008 11:54

Thanks EEC - The wedding is only down the road, they aren't particualy (sp?) good friends, just a couple we know from down the local, (we don't even talk to them much!)so I can't imagine they are pushed for numbers, otherwise we wouldn't have been invited! The only reason I'm pondering it is because alot of our friends are going and I would hate to miss out and sit at home on my big (fat!) arse wishing we could go!! So I think I will go, gosh I didn't half affle then didn't I!!!

Another question..... Is it 26 weeks when 3rd trimaster kicks in?

Kaz1967 · 25/03/2008 13:38

isaidno · 25/03/2008 14:06

Jodie - yes 26 weeks begins the 3rd trimester - and lots more moaning!

EEC · 25/03/2008 14:20

Can't believe we're nearly 3rd trimester. I know it all gets harder, but can't wait to really start the countdown!

Kaz - not a bad daughter - just self preservation. Glad flat was good.

bebejones · 25/03/2008 14:41

Hello all, and welcome newies! Hope everyone had a great Easter. I got to spend lots of time with my mum which was lovely as havent seen her since January.

Have a quick question for the 'experienced' among us. What do Braxton Hicks feel like, and is 22 weeks too early to get them? Have been having what feel like period pains all day, and occasionally really sharp pain right accross my belly! Is it BH? Should I be worried? LO is still wiggling round and kicking like mad so think she is ok, I hope!!

EEC · 25/03/2008 14:59

Bebejones - Not too earluy for BH. Some people don't feel them til near the end, but they happen from really early on. I have felt them since about 12 weeks. Mine aren't at all painful, just a real tightening of the uterus - my tummy goes rock hard for a while, then relaxes again. Some people do experience pain though. Is your pain accompanied by a hardening of the bump?

It may just be one of those unexplained pregnancy pains. Worth asking the midwife if you're concerned though. Try lying down for a bit (if you can!) and see if it eases.

mummypig · 25/03/2008 15:13

hi everyone

I am really pleased that this horrible virus seems to have gone - at least I've stopped coughing so much and feel like I have more energy, although both my boys are still quite snotty.

We had a lovely Easter as it was ds1's birthday on Easter Monday. So we spent Sunday with dp's family and then stayed in the house all Monday and the boys had a great time playing with all the new presents.

Braxton Hicks feel like a tightening all across your tummy and it will go very hard for a few moments. Later on in pregnancy, especially if you're lying down in the bath or something, you can really see the shape of your belly changing. It's not too early to get them, so you might be having Braxton Hicks, but both 'period pains' and aching in your lower back may just be to do with your uterus getting heavier and your other muscles, and ligaments, having to adapt. I suppose this stage is when we should be thinking more about good posture and optimum foetal positioning and stuff like that.

There's a fairly good article about protecting your back and pelvis here on babycentre: www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/fitness/protectingbackandpelvis/

Incidentally though, women are often told that Braxton Hicks are not like normal contractions and that when you are really in labour you will know the difference. But both times with me, the contractions early on in labour felt just the same as the Braxton Hicks I'd been having for weeks. Conversely, sometimes the Braxton Hicks really started to hurt me, even in the weeks before I was in labour, and I found it helped to use the breathing techniques I had been taught at ante-natal classes.

Braxton Hicks are meant to be one of the ways your uterus prepares for labour, and I had two fairly quick labours, so it's worth seeing them in a positive light even if they do hurt!

Oh, I didn't mean to do such a long message! Better go and fetch the boys from school now. Best wishes to everyone.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 25/03/2008 15:18

hello all

sickness has finally gone but with dp at work - children all home and house in state of decorative disorder to say the least - i a m a wee bit tetchy

re cotbeds i like them as baby can lie any way and not get caught up in bars - they still fit in a tiny room and i keep my dc's in a cot until at least 3 years old

re 3rd trimetester 26 weeks - never heard that but i am willing to believe it 5 days to go

isn't the second trimester supposed to be where we all bloom - must have missed that!!!!

Disney - just to say i am so pleased for you all - tour calmness was inspirational through that horrid time

bebejones · 25/03/2008 16:58

Thanks EEC, had a lie down and feel much better! Tummy was getting really tight so perhaps that was it...who knows!!

lazyhippo · 25/03/2008 18:04

Kaz and Jodie- thank you both for description of "bubbles popping", thats exactly what i've been feeling. And Kaz you're definately not a bad daughter, i agree with EEC's comment about self-preservation! xx

disneystar · 25/03/2008 21:31

thanks paulayatesbiggestfan
well my tummy has just grown so much in the past 2 weeks i had a little bump and its just gone wild

i guess my hormones are all over the place right now,i cant seem to concentrate im thinking of several things i need at once
and then coming out with stupid things,
my family are always laughing at me

FenLondon · 25/03/2008 21:42

Anyone else wonder if occasionally the poor sonographers forget there's a person attached to the belly? Had a (belated) 20 week scan today, now I know that the odd good prod with the probe's necessary to get the little horror in position, but a moment's warning might be good! Thank heavens for those PF exercises ...

sweetkitty · 25/03/2008 21:58

evening all just wrote this huge message and the pc goes all funny and loses it so apologies

Was just my usual moaning self I must be the most miserable pregnant woman, am in so much pain tonight when I lie down I can't lift my legs up have to shift and kind of scuttle to get up. Heartburn a pain as well and have run out of Gaviscon. All this talk of third trimesters is freaking me out too. April next week then it's May, June and off we go! Will start to panic about June about the actual process of getting the baby out am in denial right now. I know I've been there done that but doesn't make it any easier.

Right am off to watch TV in bed night all

JODIEhavingababy · 25/03/2008 22:31

Fenlondon Congrats on Scan, are you keeping the flavour a surprise? Was everything else OK?

Disney I went and bought some muslins the other day, how exciting!!! That is all this little mite has got new for his self yet.. I keep looking at things and thinking, I've got something similar! I really need to get up in the loft and see what I actually have got and what is in a fit state to re-use.... I only had a summer blue baby 2 years ago so I don't think I need anything really, but it would be nice if DB had something new!

beepbeep · 26/03/2008 07:59

JODIE - feel same way this end, we don't know flavour and didn't with DD so have tonnes of unisex newborn stuff i need to go through, but felt a little guilty that this one wasn't getting anything new (going into DD's nursery too, so she's getting new bedroom)so bought 3 cool sleepsuits from Next at the weekend, felt really chuffed with myself - sad eh?! May have to buy him/her something else but find it quite hard too find really nice neutral stuff.

FENLONDON - know what you mean about the sonographers, at my 20 week the guy really hurt me, I know they have a job to do but stil!! Got a 3d/4d scan this afternoon, quite excited about this one after worrying so much about other scans. Never had one like this before so should be interesting!

EEC · 26/03/2008 08:08

The baby won't know if it's got new stuff or not, so no need to feel guilty! It's us that wants to buy new things! I have only got one cardigan so far and am champing at the bit to go shopping! I haven't sorted out all the things my sister gave me yet so don't know what I haven't got. Need to wait a couple more weeks until we are back in England, but am window shopping on the web meanwhile.

I think I may need to get a support belt, as back ache and general tummy discomfort is getting worse every day. Any suggestions as to good ones, and do they help? Still 3 1/2 months to go and I am already 'carrying' my bump by late afternoon. I'm doing too much, I think, but There's no way I can rest at the moment.

FenLondon · 26/03/2008 08:29

Jodie/beepbeep - All good on the scan - love watching the heart go, that's quite incredible. All indications are pink flavour . Hope the 4D was good!

Kaz1967 · 26/03/2008 08:48

Jodie I had a simillar problem when they wee trying to get a good look at bumps face she was trying to get the probe between my pelvis and uterus I still have a bruise and that was 2 weeks ago nearly

bebejones · 26/03/2008 10:21

Morning all! Got to go back for a second attempt at 20 week scan today! Lets hope the little bugger cooperates this time! They did say they thought everything was ok just needed measurements but still cant help worrying that they might 'find' something this time!!

LilyToTheB · 26/03/2008 10:54

Morning everyone! Hope you're all doing ok today? Just been catching up on all the threads, hope you all had a nice easter weekend.
Congrats on all the scans, hope they're going well
It's pouring with rain here today & makes me feel a bit miserable!
Can't believe nearing the 3rd trimester though! How scary! And I've hardly brought anything for the little one yet!

tafftaff · 26/03/2008 11:48

Morning all,

Welcome FenLondon and congrats on the girl.

Good luck Bebejones with the scan today, let us know how it goes.

Hope everyone that had the lurgy is now feeling better and enjoying the delights of the middle trimester!

Only now am I starting to feel slightly more energetic but reckon that's going to be short-lived as the final trimester is looming! I've got my 24 week midwife appointment today and am pretty excited about hearing the baby's heartbeat again. DP is going to join me today as he wants to skive play at the pg thing too .

I am desperate to buy some stuff for the baby but just don't have the time. All my weekends are taken up with visitors before I become too big to move off the sofa. Anyone managed to go on a shopping spree yet and what did you buy? Might motivate me into finding some time!
