Ten and a half pounds ish and just moved up to size three. Had some explosive poos so need the extra length at the back.

You can always get the next size up to have a look. They will be used 🙂

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 29/01/2024 12:33

My 7 week old is already over 12lb and in size 3 nappies. He's been in 3-6 month clothes since 5 weeks 🙈. Still EBF but got a blocked duct on one side a week ago and it keeps coming back, so painful! No idea why. It goes after a day or two for a day then it's back again!

Spareincoming · 29/01/2024 13:27

We changed to size 2 teats at about 7-8 week’s according to my Amazon purchase history!

OP posts:
JD90 · 29/01/2024 15:52

We're on 2s for nappies and 1 for mam bottles, but that's because madam is EBF and has one expressed bottle a day. Only went up to 1 from 0 a few weeks back and she still manages to try and go too fast and choke herself occasionally 🤦🏻‍♀️

reememberly · 29/01/2024 22:35

@FlyingHighFlyingLow i take lecithin to try to keep block ducts at bay. Was skeptical at first but tried it in desperation with my last baby and does seem to make a difference. Will link to the Kellymom info.

Alloveragain3 · 29/01/2024 23:57

@FlyingHighFlyingLow
I woke up with my first blocked milk duct in the middle of the night! Very tender :(

So far I've squeezed anything that resembled a milk bleb on my nipple, massaged, put a warm compress on, had a hot shower, "combed' the lump with a plastic comb (that was weird) and lots of BF in multiple positions.

I've started all feeds on the sore side today as she always sucks more at thr start of the feed.

I think the lump is smaller and it seems less tender, so fingers crossed mine goes and doesn't come back!

If yours keeps coming back do you think baby might not be draining the breast or isn't latching well? My little one sometimes struggles with latching still and won't always drain the breast, which I'm thinking triggered this in the first place for me.

In crappy news, my little one's face has been quite flared and red these last few days, so I think it's definitely eczema.
I applied some weak steroids this morning with the moisturiser and it's already looking better, so at least that's good.

Nov2023 · 30/01/2024 03:04

I'm considering stopping breastfeeding at 10 weeks to try and help my baby with reflux and trapped wind. I have tried everything else and all. yo can think is that there could be a latch issue or maybe my diet doesn't agree with him. It is like a vicious cycle of discomfort every time we feed and then he wants to be fed again to comfort which makes things worse! Has anyone else stopped breastfeeding when they haven't physically needed to? I am disappointed as I worked hard to establish feeding but I can't think of anything else I can change. I am so worried he will struggle with going from feeding on demand and for comfort to a schedule of bottles but his tummy issues mean he doesn't really sleep and cries all day so I am hoping formula won't make it worse

Thack · 30/01/2024 03:24

3am hello Nov!

Does Bab take a bottle at all? How are they afterwards?

It sounds like you aren't ready to finish your bf journey. Would you try diet changes?
I'm very lucky with this LO, the only suspicion I have is garlic making them fussy. It must be hard seeing them uncomfortable.

BabyBabyBaby123 · 30/01/2024 03:29

@Nov2023 @Thack hello 3am club!

Nov2023 · 30/01/2024 03:30

@Thack Im not the only one awake! My baby takes a bottle of expressed milk with no hesitation so I am sure he will be fine with bottles. I have reduced dairy and eliminated caffeine from my diet but I can't find a trigger food like garlic. I have tried to wait it out and wait for him to get older and stronger but it is so hard to see him so uncomfortable all the time and it is not getting any easier for him! He is gaining weight really well. despite the tummy issues but he is not sleeping and won't settle at all any more

Thack · 30/01/2024 03:38

@Nov2023 that is tough going. Hopefully someone here can give you some ideas.

My cherub had a massive poo during their wake about half an hour ago. I thought we were past this?!
They're back asleep, I'm struggling to get back to sleep. Maybe I need a big poo too??!

Alloveragain3 · 30/01/2024 11:48

@Thack My little one Finally stopped middle of the night poos last week which has meant way more sleep for me as I only half wake up when she feeds at night (vs totally awake for a nappy change). Such a good developmental phase!

Hopefully you're back to pooless nights tonight ;)

@Nov2023 That sounds tough. If you're not sure about stopping and there's a chance that bottle feeding won't help, would it be worth expressing into a bottle so if it doesn't work out, you still have your supply and can go back to BF?

You mentioned cutting down dairy but it may be you have to eliminate it entirely to see a difference. My first DS had CMPA and would have terrible eczema even if I had tiny amounts of dairy x

I hadn’t even realised we’ve passed the end of the night poos marker!
I did notice the other day that LOs Moro reflex is no more!

LO is putting on weight and we’re transitioning from 0-3 to 3-6, mainly in tops as they’re body long!

We also have a date for their first corrective surgery to sort the breathing issues; 3 weeks on Friday down in Liverpool. We’ll be in 4 days. If we’re really lucky it will be the only surgery required as current research is showing earlier intervention is better; one of the older dc had the surgery at 19 months and had to have it repeated.

Alloveragain3 · 30/01/2024 15:45

@Spareincoming It sounds like our little ones are a similar size. We can still fit 0-3 months just about, but not the clothes that we've washed a lot and have shrunk.

Best of luck for the surgery, I know it must be incredibly daunting. That's fab that it may be the only one and, I guess the benefit of baby surgery is that they have no worries whatsoever!

foodislife1 · 30/01/2024 16:20

Just catching up now
@Spareincoming a good luck for the surgery
@Nov2023 that sounds difficult. I had a similar situation with my first as he had CMPA and no matter what I changed in my diet, it made no difference. Decided to change to non dairy formula at 3.5 months which helped his skin/eczema.
Hopefully you will get to a resolution soon and see some improvement. I know it takes about 4 weeks before dairy is completely eliminated from the breast milk

For the csec ladies...has anyone still got a sore tummy? I'm 12 weeks in and although don't expect a flat tummy I have a csec pooch that is a little tender when poked. Trying to get the massage going as that helps eliminate the pooch apparently!

LeeanneD11 · 30/01/2024 16:23

Hi everyone

So I've recently started breastfeeding, but I've only done it for three days, but all of sudden, my nipple hurts after I've pumped is this normal? I have tried every milk going to help set on my little one and my community Nursery . Nurse wants me to try different options so I thought I would try this again to see if it makes a difference, but does anyone have any tips or recommendations to lactate? So I can keep trying. As my baby suffers with really bad reflux. He is being sick after every feed and my doctor won't give him medication. Thank you all xx

Nov2023 · 30/01/2024 16:32

Thanks for all the advice folks. Lots to think about. He doenst actually have Cmpa symptoms. Just incredible gas, reflux and slinet reflux too!

@LeeanneD11 No experience relactating but what pump are you using? I tried an electric one and it was so painful. My manual Medela is fantastic though. I was expressing a bottle for my husband to feed while I slept and now try to do a feed a day to have supplies for when we are out and I'd prefer to give a bottle.

Spareincoming · 30/01/2024 16:54

@Alloveragain3 we have quite a bit of shrunken clothing; it reminds me of H&M’s strange sizing, like 4-6 months, we love got a lot of 0-2 stuff now!

Im using the medela electric one , my little one won't latch on as we think he has tongue tie so Waiting for an assessment to come through he is 11 weeks old xx

@Spareincoming good luck! I'm glad they're reacting quickly. The children's hospital is nice, I have popped in once or twice with voluntary work. I'm around an hour away if you'd like some company while you are up here. Totally get that you'll be with little one but I'm here if you want a cuppa.

@LeeanneD11 well done! little and often is best to boost supply. Don't be tempted to turn the strength up or pump for too long.
I'd suggest you have a silicone pump by the kettle. Every time you go past have a one minute express. Dump the milk if constant washing is too much, the aim is to boost your milk so accepting some waste can save sanity.

Spareincoming · 30/01/2024 20:15

@Thack thank you for the offer, that’s really kind. It sounds awful but I’m trying to view it as almost a mini break; just me and LO, a kindle full of books and a spoonful of worry and stress on the side!

Thank you so much for the tip I'll get one of them this week, and I'll keep pumping , I did do half hour on one boob and I did put the strength on really high xx

Anyone else's baby just decide to no longer sleep in the day? Before he would sleep 1-2 hours, now even contact napping he wakes after 20-30 min and refuse to sleep again! He's in such a bad mood and even won't eat properly because he's so fussy. Then I finally get him latched and he's so tired he doesn't get much before falling asleep for 20 min then whole thing starts again.
