Mine is 6 weeks today but rather large (over 91st centile) and was over a week overdue. Solid week he was waking like this, but last night weirdly went back to how he was before - fed at 11, woke up 1:30, 4:30, 7, then had a wake window and was even happy to nap next to me back on bed so another cheeky hour for me 😂 he's also not so food oriented this morning so maybe that was his 6 week growth spurt /regression and fingers crossed more sleep now.

@foodislife1 this is the wonder weeks chart. No. Weeks is based on baby’s due date not birthday

My little one for the last 2 days has slept through,
Wednesday night he went from 9.30pm-5.30am
And last night 8pm-5am

We have figured out a routine of bath every night and bottle so not sure if this helping him sleep all night he is 9 weeks old . Is this normal? He used to wake up every 3 hours before x

Alloveragain3 · 18/01/2024 15:44

@foodislife1 Like PP mentioned, I think you're bang in the middle of a leap. Solidarity!

foodislife1 · 18/01/2024 16:09

@Alloveragain3 @PinkPlantCase 🙏🏽

Alloveragain3 · 18/01/2024 21:21

@LeeanneD11 I don't know if it's normal, but I am very jealous

We've had a few lovely 5 hour stretches some nights, but other nights she wakes every 2 to 3 hours.

Still nowhere near as bad as DS who woke far more often, so I'm grateful for now.

I'd love a full 8 hours, what a treat!

Thack · 20/01/2024 03:58

11.5wo (9.5 adjusted) and very fussy. I can see the change in them. Starting to hold items (just gentle and short grip), feeding for comfort, more expressive.

Is anyone else struggling with self care? I can't get away from baby in the evenings and mornings are taken up by toddler. I literally just had a shower as I was awake and it's just easier at 3am

WriMum22 · 20/01/2024 07:22

@Thack Hey, just out of curiosity, is there a reason you use adjusted age? I ask as my little girl was born 2am at 37 weeks dead on (my waters broke at 36.6 weeks) and everywhere I’ve read, including from my health visitor and GP, it’s all said that any baby that’s born from 37 weeks onwards, you shouldn’t use adjusted age as it only applies to babies born less than 37 weeks. I said to my health visitor that baffles me in regard to my daughter as if she was born 2 hours earlier, I’d be adjusting her age by 3 weeks but with a small differences of 2 hours, I’m not! Everywhere I’ve read has said the same thing too, but it just doesn’t make any sense to me so I wondered what you knew about it as I noticed your adjustment. The cut off in my daughters case is such a fine line 🙈

Katiec1 · 20/01/2024 10:33

@WriMum22 when I had my twins at 34+2 we were always told to use actual age and not adjusted/corrected age. This was especially important when it came to vaccines and introducing solids etc
Advice is so different everywhere 🙈

Thack · 20/01/2024 10:59

@WriMum22 I just mentioned it because Wonder Weeks use that. We seem to be following it with birth age.

The phrase 'babies do things in their own time' is very true. Take all milestones with a pinch of salt. An extra few weeks make no difference in the big picture but can be stressful for parents (unnecessarily!)

WriMum22 · 20/01/2024 11:10

@Thack @Katiec1 Thanks Ladies, she’s my third child so I don’t pay any attention to milestones as my experience has proven every child will develop at their own pace, my two sons were the total opposites of each other development wise but they’ve still gotten where they need to be and are perfectly normal. I was more intrigued than anything because I see people quote adjusted ages, yet all the advice I’ve ever been given seems against this, so I wondered where my daughter would stand as she’s a perfect example of this supposed 37 week cut off 🫣

TMI2000 · 20/01/2024 22:49

@Thack definitely feel you with having no time for self care.
I have a 9wo and just feel like the last week or so he has just been so much more than usual. He will cry during and just after feeds and I’m not sure if he’s having reflux as he has always been a very sicky baby. We try and feed him upright, wind him often and keep him upright for half an hour after feeds but just at a loss with what to do. We swapped his formula but that hasn’t really made a difference apart from being cheaper for us.
during the night he sleeps so well, I can just put him down awake and he will get himself off to sleep with no fuss and most nights over the past week he has slept through 10:30-5:30 but during the day he is a total Velcro baby.

DollyGx · 21/01/2024 08:21

Hi ladies, my baby has been quite congested from about 2 weeks old is anyone else the same? I use nose drops on her almost everyday and sometimes the frida nose sucker too and almost always get something out. She’s woken up worse than usual this morning and I just feel so bad for her. Have mentioned it to the GP who says it’s probably just the time of year and having heating on in the house. Just wondering if anyone else is the same?

Katiec1 · 21/01/2024 11:32

@DollyGx we haven’t had any congestion (yet) thankfully. Have you tried sitting her in the bathroom with the shower running very hot. The steam can be quite good for congestion.
Also snuffle babe do a good vapour oil.

DollyGx · 21/01/2024 11:50

@Katiec1 yeah I normally bring her in with me when I’m showering and it does help for a while! Do you add the vapour oil to water or something? How does it work? I’ve got a humidifier but not sure I could put it in that?

Katiec1 · 21/01/2024 13:31

I’ve used it on previous kids with the bowl of warm water in the room and it worked a treat. I’ve just googled and it looks like it can be used with humidifier too.
Hoping your little one gets some relief soon, it’s not nice when they have the sniffles 🥺

Nov2023 · 21/01/2024 13:32

@DollyGx The snuffle oil works perfectly in a humidifier and smells lovely too!

DollyGx · 21/01/2024 14:05

@Katiec1 @Nov2023 thanks ladies will give this a go!

Spareincoming · 21/01/2024 19:48

@DollyGx We use the snuffle baby stuff in the warm humidifier every night. Smells lovely!
As does the condensation on the windows when I wipe it on really cold mornings!

@Spareincoming thanks I’ve ordered some from Amazon arriving tomorrow so I’ll get that straight in the humidifier!

Travellingislife · 22/01/2024 20:00

Has the dreaded postpartum hair loss hit anyone yet?
I thought I got away with it with my first but it hit me around 9 months pp.
I want to try and minimise it this time around. Any tips on how to hold on to our hair? Some people say it’s unavoidable but I’m hoping you could maybe control it a little bit by taking supplements!

Alloveragain3 · 22/01/2024 20:58

I just posted in Chat, but then realised I may have more luck here!

Does anyone else's baby have dry skin?

My 10 week old has just developed really red and scaly skin all over her face :(
She's also rubbing her face on me when I carry her, so she seems itchy.

I'm thinking eczema? Any advice would be lovely!
We've got a GP appointment tomorrow.

foodislife1 · 22/01/2024 22:19

@Travellingislife I'm seeing the start of hair falling out but it seems minimal at the moment. I read somewhere that it starts 3-4 months post partum.
As for prevention I think biotin or collagen supplements may help? It's mostly hormonal so don't think it can be completely avoided unfortunately:(

@Alloveragain3 is it baby acne?
My little one had baby acne which then got worse and she had really itchy/scaly red skin that would flake off, GP prescribed emollient cream and advised to reduce dairy in the diet as my son had CMPA as a baby.
