Heartmum2Jamie · 25/02/2008 15:15

After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

Hi lackaDaisycal, thanks for the welcome . My eldest daughter is 12 and my youngest will be four in a couple of months, we've got a 8 seater Bongo people carrier so we haven't got problem there . I've tried to read the thread, but keep getting confused trying to remember who's who .

scully · 08/03/2008 03:11

Hi everyone, welcome to the new ladies 5+5 today, feeling washed out, very sore boobs and have the general exhausted feeling. Does help that dd2 woke me up at 2.30am and I struggled to get back to asleep afterwards. Have been on the go since 8.30am this morning, housework, washing shops, dd1's gymnastics, took her to a party afterwards, and have to go pick her up in half an hour's time. Might need a rest this afternoon. Good thing is that I've lost 1.5kgs this week, with my funny tummy and not drinking white wine anymore
Can't remember who was asking about girl symptons, but with both dds' pregnancies, I was sick between weeks 7-13, just nauseaus, not throwing up, and fine. Am interested to see what this pregnancy brings
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

scully · 08/03/2008 03:13

That should read 'doesn't help that dd2 woke me up at 2.30am', must really need that afternoon nap

divedaisy - I can't really advise as I have no experience of all the things that you went through last time but I just want to say that I hope you have a better time of it this time around and I admire your positive thinking.

My boobs are still sore and inflating and I'm worrying that I won't be able to fit into any of my tops soon, as well as my coat! Debenhams have a sale on at the moment and I've ordered a black maternity mac from their website (even my maternity coat from last time is a little tight over the boob area, so I've had to go a size up ). They've precious little else in the sale, unless you're after some jeans. I've also got all of my maternity stuff from last time out of storage and given it an airing and an ironing. I just hope that it still flippin' well fits, even though it feels way too early to be thinking about these things.

oliviaelanasmum · 08/03/2008 08:55

I lent my maternity clothes to a friend but she has just had her baby prematurely so i will leave it a while, i didnt need them till about 26 weeks last time

I got my BFP 2 days ago at 11 dpo, and we are so excited! This is our first pregnancy and although I'm a bit nervous about everything going OK, I just can't wait! Due date is 15th November.

Renaissancewoman · 08/03/2008 12:37

Divedaisy - re PND would fish oils help? Last year I spent a long time visiting a relative in the Priory who had had a huge breakdown following stress at work. Most people in his unit were in their for depression including PND. Everyone in there was encouraged to take fish oils and the nutritionists and medical staff there really promote fish oils as being very important in assisting mental health. I was so impressed with one of the nutritionists I met there that I consult her from time to time. I saw her the other day, the same day I got my positive test and she recommended Eskimo Brainsharp from Nutri Ltd see www.nutri-online1.co.uk/Patients/Products/FattyAcids/tabid/681/Default.aspx as well as their general pregnancy supplement. She said the Eskimo product was great as its got all the Omegas in (3,6,9??) and helps with the spongibrain business that you sometimes get during pregnancy and definitely get afterwards.

Re headaches/morning sickness - I found with previous pregnancies that regular eating and an iron supplement really helped. Also making raw juices with ginger added to them (a bit strong tasting but it really helps to reduce queasiness). I'm juicing away today as I am full of cold but very happy.

Congratulations and welcome, SoExcited! It's great to have you with us. I'm amazed at how our club is growing even though we've still got a couple of weeks to go before the BFPs run into December.

Thanks for the supplements tip, Renaissancewoman. I think I'll look into that site now as well. So far I've been taking a Sanatogen pro-natal supplement which comes with an additional fish oil supplement but I think it may just be omega 3.

JudyJones · 08/03/2008 14:56

Hullo! Mind if I join? Just found out I am PG and my very wise sister tells me that my EDD is Nov 7. It's my first and I'm a bit thrown that it's happened after just a month of trying and that the symptoms, so far, are so mild slight nausea, slight headaches, slight twinges and slightly emotional (or maybe not so slight after reading this www.mumsnet.com/Talk/5001/480594)... Thanks also for the guide to abbreviations - it all make SO much more sense now...

Heartmum2Jamie · 08/03/2008 15:04

Welcome to our newest members! It is lovely to see the BFP's rolling in!

I have made the fatal mistake of sitting down, now I don't want to move, I'm too tired! I pegged out 2 lots of washing, hoovered all the stairs and upstairs rooms, cleaned all the mirrors & windows and just swept the kitchen floor ready to mop and THEN sat down. I really need to mop the floor but ugh, not sure if I want to move again!

I've been getting sharp pains up by my ribs. I am guessing it is windy pains but boy do some of them hurt. I'm just glad the dull throbbing pain I had on my right side yesterday seems to be gone.

Will be chasing up my midwife by the end of next week if I haven't heard from her.

Congratulations and welcome, JudyJones! Anything we can help you out with, just let us know.

I'm all this afternoon. We're trying to sell our house and we had two viewings arranged last weekend. Unfortunately, they both cancelled and re-arranged for this weekend. Guess what? Both of them have failed to show up and they haven't even bothered to cancel or let us know this time. It's really annoying because I've spent both last weekend and this weekend cleaning the house and getting it absolutely spick and span (not to mention spending a small fortune on fresh flowers) and whilst that's energy sapping at the best of times, I'm absolutely, totally, utterly knackered now. Worst of all, there's nothing we can do about it - we're trying to sell the house and we can't do that without viewings and so we have to accommodate every tom, dick and harry that thinks they might like to see it or they might not.

Sorry for ranting on - I'm just completely fugged off with the whole house thing now.

browny · 08/03/2008 17:36

Hi Creena, don't blame you for having a rant, to not even have the decency to give you a quick phone call to cancel is just bad manners!, at least your house is spick and span which always makes you feel a bit better, but can imagine you feel shattered. Hope you get some lovely buyers through your door before your expensive flowers wilt .

lackaDAISYcal · 08/03/2008 20:04

hi guys.

just a quick read of the posts since yesterday. Hi to yet more November ladies, we really are building an impressive list aren't we.

symptomwise, heartburn and constipation for me, not much nausea, and nipple tenderness, but no boob tenderness. I think that BFing must have something to do with that.

Just a quick one on the fish oils. I think fish oils themselves are a no no as they are quite high in vitamin A (my sis used to take cod liver oil for her arthritis, but had to stop when she was pregnant), but omega rich oils like evening primrose oil are OK. The best bet is ones specially produced for use in prgnancy as I think all the vitamin A has been taken out of them

Off to watch casualty; I hope it isn't too gory as I've been really queasy with things like that since I got my BFP!

OddEyes · 08/03/2008 20:35

Hey!
Re breastfeeding, Heartmum2Jamie, the doc said was for the sake of energy levels. i was initially very rebellious... but now am thinking that I am soooo tired... we'll see how it goes this week. praying he sleeps better anyways.

also feeling sooooo sick. wasn't this bad last time but then i wasn't looking after ds and making him mashed up sick looking food. nibbling toast seems to help.

divedaisy · 09/03/2008 00:54

lackaDAISYcal thanks for that advice regarding fish oils. I thought they were high in 'NO NO Vit A', so good to have it confirmed. What type of fish can we-with-bumps eat (that is if we can manage to cope with the pong!)?? I'll take on board your advice regarding pregnancy formulated vits - they surely couldn't do any harm!

OH Glad I've found another Casualty addict - Holby City too ?? I had guests in tonight so I didn't get to watch it. The reason I'm up this late and the rest of you are all tucked in bed, is I just had to catch up with it via BBC iplayer thing - also watched Tues nites Holby! Great invention! Sorry to see Harry leave, and great to see Ruth fluttering her eyelashes - at last! I plan my week around those 2 programmes!

Well sleep tight all my fellow mums - see you in the morning.

Oh my nausea settled tonight - after a glass of champagne!!!

Nite nite.

Renaissancewoman · 09/03/2008 05:19

Re fish oils - the vit A problem arises if the supplement is derived from the liver of the fish eg like cod liver oil. If it is from other parts of the fish it and formulated for pregnancy it will be OK. Some women start taking fish oils in pregnancy as it has been linked to brainier kids!

Creena · 09/03/2008 09:40

I've been taking the sanatogen pre-natal omega 3 supplement - that's got to be ok to take in pregnancy, I'd have thought. If you're interested in trying some, Sainsbury's have the sanatogen twin pack (30 capsules of vits & minerals and 30 capsules of omega 3) for half price at the moment.

carrieboo75 · 09/03/2008 10:09

sorry - i'm leaving you - baby no more!

LolaBella · 09/03/2008 10:33

Carrieboo, so sorry to hear your sad news

lackaDAISYcal · 09/03/2008 10:50

carrieboo, sorry to hear that

I'm having some pinkish discharge at the moment, and trying to stay hopeful, but I've had a couple of MCs so am sh*tting myself.

browny · 09/03/2008 10:55

Carrieboo - so sorry , look after yourself.

LackaDaisycal - I've got my fingers crossed for you, hope everything will be o.k., take it easy.
