Heartmum2Jamie · 25/02/2008 15:15

After a bit of cajoling from some friends (some of whom I hope can join me here soon), I decided to take the plunge and start this thread.

Anyway, I have just found out I am pregnant again, got a BFP on Saturday 23rd at 12dpo, which gives me an EDD of 3rd November 2008 (or the 4th, depending on which calculator I use). This is my 4th pregnancy and will be my 3rd child. I am super excited and a little scared & nervous after a previous missed miscarriage.

I hope I don't get too lonely waiting for more BFP's to roll in! Please come and join me.

Welcome Twinkle! I've added you to the list. Please feel free to update it at any time. Just copy and paste it onto a new message!

Sorry twinkle, but I'm not sure what spotted brown gloop means. I assume it's like mucus? I would sometimes get something like that when I have a period - like old blood?? When you read through this thread, there are plenty of us that have experiences of bleeding/spotting etc and go on to have a healthy pregnancy. Hopefully someone will have experienced this b4 and be able to give you an answer to your question.

What do you mean by temping? Sorry, but I don't understand this. The only temping I know of is someone doing a temporary job? is it something to do with taking your temperature?? So many possibilities!

When you get your scan dates, go ahead and put the info onto our list.

I hope you are all having a great lazy weekend. My lamb chops and minty jelly were DELICIOUS!! (Apologies to all you veggies/vegans out there - no offence meant) My DS is in bed and I'm patiently waiting for Casulty to come on....wait out it's 20:48 now and it started 8 mins ago - why did my TV not automatically start it?? WEIRD!

dozymare · 16/03/2008 07:15

Hi Twinkle and Flighty - welcome to our ever increasing (and soon to be ever expanding waists!) thread!!!

Twinkle - if you read back over the messages lots of us have had this sort of thing and it could be inplantation (that is me guessing based on what others have said not personal experience) Why not call your Dr and get an appointment at the EPAU if you are worried????

Flighty - archery - now there's a good hobby!!!! I have tried to add you to the list but don't think it worked.......I'm a bit of a virgin when it comes to these sorts of things!

FlightyRachel · 16/03/2008 08:25

Thanks Dozy! Now I feel I've arrived.

Archery is a great hobby, it's 90% male, and the women who do partake tend to be either OAPs, or prepubescents, so you suddenly become 'hot stuff' by dint of being the only woman of fertile age in the vicinity. Everyone offers to carry your bow case!

I took it up to help me emerge from my mumsy coccoon.. but now I'm going back in again for a bit!

Tinkerisdead · 16/03/2008 11:28

Hi to flight and Rachel :-) list just grows and grows. Ive tried to avoid mumsnet over the weekend to actually get some chores done. we have told our mums yesterday which was so lovely but no one else.
Ive had period pains on and off for days and whilst i knows its normal its worrying everytime. i cant taste any food except a bowl of french onion soup in a restaurant on friday night. i nearly wept at flavour!!!
I dont fancy anything to eat but have spent more and more time smelling clean washing. even slept with PJ bottoms round my neck so i could smell the washing powder. It just seems like a constant waiting game, waiting for period, now waiting for scan!

Tinkerisdead · 16/03/2008 11:31

sorry i meant hi to twickle and flighty rachel. DH kept coming in nosing at me on the PC and fussing round me about what i wanted to eat and i totally messed up saying hi to you both xx

EButters · 16/03/2008 12:05

Hi guys, I'm a first timer, due on 16th Nov (they think - I think it might be 17th - as if it will arrive on the EDD anyway!!!) and very nervous and excited. Looking forward to hearing how everyone else is getting on and being able to chat to people who understand!!! None of my friends have had kids yet and I can't tell anyone either, so it's just me and dh at the mo. My head feels fit to burst!!!

Anyway hi and congrats to all. EB xxx

juanitad · 16/03/2008 12:14

Hi all,

thought I would join in too (although if I'm honest, I've been lurking on this thread for a while in the hope that I would eventually get my BFP and be able to join in!!) I am a first-timer too, so not too sure what to expect. Got my BFP on Friday, it has just about sunk in now. According to one of the online due date calculator things my EDD is 19th November. So far, I've not really had any symptoms, except for a nasty break out of spots on my chin, which I'm guessing is down to the hormones. Other than that, I don't really feel any different as yet...I'm guessing that will change soon enough!

AliciaJohns · 16/03/2008 12:43

Afternoon all and hello to those who have just joined us!

Can identify totally with taste thing. WEnt out for curry last night and it was just like eating a plate of overboiled vegetables. Porridge for breakfast which tasted like milky lumpy slime, then tuna sandwich for lunch which tasted like metal. I put on 4 stone in my last pregnancy though so maybe this is nature's way of telling me not to be such a greedy cow this time...

twinklingfairy · 16/03/2008 12:49

Hello juanitad and Ebutters so exciting to be your first time around.
I have only just joined this thread but it is my 2nd pregnancy.
But i am worrying far more already
I got my BFP yesterday and am convinced it is going to disappear.
Beginning to calm down a bit now and to believe it is real, but it has taken 8 months, (where DD took only 1) so it all feels a bit like a dream.

So good to hear of others getting period type pains, well obviously not really, but nice to know it seems fairly normal.

Must find some time to read through, but this seems like a busy thread
Looks like I am the latest EDD so far, I wonder if there will be any more?

I am happy to be pregnant as my brother's GF is expecting too. Our EDD's are about 5 weeks apart. Shame they are England and I am Scotland though.
We must meet up to compare bumps

AliciaJohns · 16/03/2008 15:58

8 months is a long time twinklingfairy, not surprised you are a bit nervous! Someone else on here said to think positive though and that's good advice. If you always suspect the worst you'll never enjoy anything. I shall keep repeating that to myself for the next few weeks I think!!

Roca · 16/03/2008 17:00

normally lamb chops - yum - right now - oh no thanks - that mash potato is still the winner - with a few baby bels I fancy!

My betting is still on a boy! Have had a bit of a runny tum - not sure if anything to do with pg or something I ate - any one else ever had this - feels like what I sometimes get during my period.

Hello and congrats to all who have just joined up - I feel like I have really bad stretchin pains already- and belive you me, I could do without any more stretching, thanks!

dozymare · 16/03/2008 17:07

Afternoon all - what a boring afternoon...the weather is C.R.A.P and after standing ont he rugby pitch this morning watching DS1 play rugby we decided to just stay in the afternoon - DH spent 3 hours asleep on the sofa whilst I cooked Sunday lunch.......

NOw got 2 DS running around like loons and I want some peace and quiet! Roll on Bedtime!!! Please dear God, let this one be a girl...no more Rugby and no more loony energetic boys (someone once told me that boys are like dogs, fed them and excercise them lots and they will be happy!!!) Anyone else got a preference (apart from healthy and happy?!)

Please be a girl, please be a girl, please be a girl, please be a girl, please be a girl (rpt to fade)

mum2becks · 16/03/2008 17:12

Hi to all those who have recently joined us and welcome!

I'm with you Roca mash potato is the best thing ever at the minute!!! Have had this week - sausage and mash, cheesy mash, chops and mash and have agreed to do a sunday dinner today even though completely exhaused so that I can have mash again!!!!

I have had some stretching pains the last couple of days too, but my main problem at minute is I am waking every night needing a wee but then I cant get back to sleep and am awake for hours before falling back to sleep then waking up shattered, which is no fun when have to spend all day looking after a toddler!

Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend?

oops!!

Creena · 16/03/2008 17:45

Hello, congratulations and welcome to all of your new members! Great to have you with us - if you fancy adding yourselves to the list, just copy and paste the latest version, slot yourself in according to your EDD and hey presto!

Twinkling - it sounds to me like you have some old blood mixed in with your CM. Anything brown is old blood and generally nothing to worry about. It's probably just left over from implantation or a little shedded uterine lining. As long as you don't have any really painful cramps and bright red bleeding, you should be ok! If you're very worried though, it wouldn't hurt to contact your community midwife to ask about it.

Sounds like folks have been having a good weekend so far! We were supposed to have a viewing today (our house is up for sale) and so I spent the best part of the day getting everything spick and span and looking presentable only for them not to turn up. This is the third weekend in a row that this has happened and the fourth viewing in a row that has failed to materialise. I know that there's nothing we can do about it and it's part of the process of house selling but when you're knackered, nauseous and feeling like you've been hit by a truck, it is not fun!

I'm so hungry too but there's nothing in the house that I want to eat. divedaisy - reading about your delicious dinner has given me a hankering for a lovely roast dinner now.....shame we don;t have any whole chicken or joints to roast. I'll haver to hang on until Easter Sunday and go all out.

juanitad · 16/03/2008 18:48

Feeling a bit under the weather today, didn't feel like doing very much, so thought I would go right back to the beginning of this thread and read all the posts so I can figure out who everybody is, and what I've missed so far. It took me about 2 hours to read everything!! But it's been really useful - as this is my first, I didn't know what to expect, so it's good to know that symptoms can vary, and that different people feel different things. I've not really had any symptoms yet, but I realise that it's not something to worry about, as some of you haven't had symptoms either. I've added myself to the list, although my EDD is part guess work, as I don't know for sure how to work it out. My LMP was 10th Feb, I think I ovulated on 27th Feb, so an EDD of 19th Nov should be somewhere near. I thought I would contact the docs for an appointment the week after next, as this is when I will next have some time off work (I'm a teacher). In other people's opinions, is it ok to wait a while before seeing the doc for an initial appointment?

Junitad - i know what you mean....so many people on here.....THis is my 3rd PG but my 1st time on a thread concerning 1....how will we ever get to know each other?!!

LolaBella · 16/03/2008 19:58

Juanitad, Welcome. This is also my first and i am also a teacher! My MS kicked in last week which made teaching very uncomfortable!! Was trying to locate nearest exits and bins all day. Hope you fair better than me.

When i went to see my GP she just put me in touch with my MW who iv got an appointment with when im 9 weeks. You could always give your surgery a call and see what they advise but im sure it won't be too much of a prob either way as long as you feel ok and have no worries

Renaissancewoman · 16/03/2008 20:16

juanitad > i think its fine to wait till week after next before seeing the doctor if all is well. Where I am (north london( all they do is take your dates and send a form to the hospital for a referral for the scan&bloodtest and general maternity care. They will want to know which hospital you want to be referred to for your care, if there are multiple options in your area. My last LMP was about 3.2 and ive still not been to doctor although i plan to next week.

Ive eaten so well this weekend, a real carb fest including 2 lots of fish and chips and a roast today. Usually I dont eat takeaways at all but it really helped the sick fealing to keep consuming carbs.

My husband is going into superhero mode, looking after me. I cant work out whether this is genuine or an attempt to get me on side before he ucks off skiing over easter leaving a sofa ridden me to look after the 2 little ones?

FlightyRachel · 16/03/2008 20:26

juanitad I'm so impressed you read this whole thread!!! I've never seen anything so confusing in my life! LOL Just what we need with (scientifically proven ) pregnant brain.

dozymare Have you been douching with cocacola or whatever you're supposed to do to get a girl? I have 2 boys and a girl already, so don't mind who pops out this time, but my intuition tells me it's a boy!

Rachel x

AliciaJohns · 16/03/2008 20:43

dozymare I have a lovely little boy already but would really like a girl this time. Dh's family don't really ever have girls though. Are you going to ask to find out at 20 weeks? I didn't last time, although intuition made me convinced he was a boy, and of course I was right! It was nice to have a "surprise" but this time round I think I would like to be prepared. I don't want to feel disappointed when it's born if it's not a girl - I would rather deal with it in advance.

That sounds awful - of course I don't mind at all if it's a boy, but there's nothing wrong with having a preference is there?

V impressed with juanitad, I may have to follow your example and read the whole thread .. not that I ever get 2 hours to myself!!

twinklingfairy · 16/03/2008 21:33

I am not sure if I can read through the whole lot either, I think I will wing it and pick up info as I go

We would quite like a little boy this time, cos we have DD already. DH said it would be nice to be the one to continue the name too. But really we are not too fussy. My little girl is such a darling, I wonder how I would cope with a boisterous boy.
And those little willies when you change a nappy!

Tinkerisdead · 17/03/2008 08:54

Hi to juanitad and ebutters and any other newbies I may have missed as we said its getting confusing :-)
Glad to read someone else has had "runny tum". Ive had this twice, it gets to the point where you wonder if everything is a symptom. Ive had about everything except throwing up but FEEL so so sick. Yesterday DH and I painted the bathroom and i had felt so energetic I started worrying. I was trying to tell him, I dont feel as crap, i just painted a bathroom! what if something is wrong? He was saying i have just kept my mind off it but as soon as the symptoms ease I thought all sorts. This morning i feel sick as hell, sore boobs and cant stop weeing so I guess im reassured again. I didnt realise that pregnancy would turn me into a neurotic!
