Paula - thought it was number 5 or 6, you and susan are very similar she has loads of boys too I think it's great having 2 mums of 6 on the thread (not that I will be aspiring to it) this is my last pregnancy for sure.

OP posts:
cass66 · 21/02/2008 18:22

definately my last too. don't have room for 4 kids in our house anyway!!!

have my 20 week scan next week. not planning to find out the sex, didn't with the last 2 pregnancies. couldn't keep it a secret if I knew anyway!!! my 3 yr old also has her pre school jabs next week, haven't told her yet, I sense a lot of chocolate bribes coming on. my 5 yr old was absolutely fine, didn't cry, but littlun' is more tempramental (sp?)

Minkus · 21/02/2008 18:58

Hello sleepycat, glad you've found us again. Am a bit about your glow, got any going spare that you could post over to me?

Kitty and Paula you are such lucky things to have a big brood. I would absolutely love a big family, it's all I've ever wanted and dh nearly had a heart attack when we first started talking about our future together and I said I would like about 6 children! But sadly I really don't think I've got the capacity to cope with any more pregnancies that make me this sick. Plus I'd have to pop them out about 1 every 18 months for the next 6 years and my poor undercarriage might just give up the ghost Have accepted that this little one will be my last and although it makes me a bit sad, it's also nice to know that just as ds has his place in the family by being our firstborn, this baby will be the one that completes our family so has a special role too.

Oh gawd I could get sentimental and cry now but I think I will go and watch Max and Ruby with ds to stem the pg hormone tears x

isaidno · 21/02/2008 20:10

It's my last baby too - and I'm really looking forward to her. This pregnancy lark is so boring, I don't think I can do it again! I have much admiration for Susan and PYBF! You also must have big houses and big cars!

TJuice · 21/02/2008 21:24

hi ladies

hope you are doing ok. i am doing well - feeling pretty good. had a few headaches and have been locking myself in the bathroom for a blub every day but apart from that . . .its great! well, actually, i had some acupuncture today and feel much better so it all seems rosy right now.

also started my power walks again and have signed up or pregnancy yoga and swimming.

pigley - we were in paris during that time too. my bloke says we conceived then, but seeing as i am 22 weeks today, it was probably before.

names - had some wonderful suggestions from the grandparents - Clementine from my mum, and Marvey from my in-laws!

I like Eloise, Noemie, Summer and Zaylie right now but (surname harrison) but we can't agree apart from eloise. Phoebe, Maisie and Tallulah have also been discussed but who knows what it will end up . . .

sweetkitty · 21/02/2008 21:25

Minkus - it's susan/minipink scottish and paula that are on number 3, I'm stopping at 3, I'm miserable being pregnant I've forgotten how bad it is, love toddlers though wish I could collect a few more of them over the years

PS must remind DP to get up the loft for my birthing ball this seat is getting too uncomfy

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 21/02/2008 23:03

ooh yes sweetkitty ds was 2 on valentines and he is such a loving bundle of happiness!

TJuice · 22/02/2008 07:49

sweet kitty - are those balls normal gym balla or different? just wondering if i should get one for work . . .
really feeling for your pain. do you do physio or chiropractice?

i get 10 annual sessions at a chiropractor as part of my company med insurance but i am too chicken to go.

isaidno · 22/02/2008 08:10

tjuice - I just use a normal gym ball to lie on / perch on. I think birthing balls are just a bit bigger.

Mummywannabe · 22/02/2008 08:50

t-juice - argos does a gym ball but advertised in pregnancy area for £8.99. Gonna get me one of those!

pigleychez · 22/02/2008 09:08

Can I ask whats the purpose of the gym balls? Do they actually have a medical benefit or just comfy to sit on? or both?

Anyone else watch Emmerdale last night, where the baby died?? I was in floods!

isaidno · 22/02/2008 09:14

the gym ball is good to sit on in the later stages. If you lean over it during the last month or so it helps baby get in a good position. During labour you can sit on it and rock around to help things open up.
(Afterwards you can use it for sit ups to get your figure back........)

pigleychez · 22/02/2008 09:21

aahhh I was thinking along those kinda lines.

Thanks for that- Can you tell its my first?

sweetkitty · 22/02/2008 09:26

pigley - mine is actually just a regular gym ball I find it comfier to sit on especially at the pc as my tailbone gets so sore and the gym ball kind of cushions it. Also because of the way you have to balance to sit on the ball it automatically corrects your posture which is good for your back. I never used it in labour as (erm how can I put this I know you are a first timer) my labours are fast and painful so I'm usually in a ball unable to move. I used to bounce on it for hours to try and start things off when I was overdue too. I have had physio before and to be honest I'm not sure it did anything. Just taking things really easy seems not to make it any worse and I know it will go once the baby is here.

It's horrible outside today so we are going to hibernate today once I fetch DD1 from nursery. I am planning a shopping trip into Glasgow tomorrow to get some maternity clothes, need some more jeans and some tops.

OP posts:
TJuice · 22/02/2008 09:53

okay another question - if you have an epidural, can you use those balls or walk around, squat etc during the early part of your labour? how much do you get knocked out?

have fun shopping tomorrow, kitty. i just bought some seraphine jeans online. bit spenny so hope they make my (mahoosive) arse look good (ish)

beepbeep · 22/02/2008 10:08

depends on the type of epidural i think (not had one), but mobiloe one i think allows you some movement but not sure how much. I used my birthing ball a lot to sit on in later months, my lower back killed if i didn't. also used it when in labour to lean on when kneeing on floor - just rocked on it! would def recommend them. I had a normal gym ball and found it a bit small so got a pregnnacy one which was a bit bigger.

sweetkitty · 22/02/2008 10:37

Tjuice - I think as beepbeep said you can move about with a mobile epidural but I'm not sure all hospitals do them. I wanted one with my first but DD1 had other ideas and I was fully dilated before they realised I was in full blown labour. Worth asking the MW about as well.

Normal gym ball did me fine I've got short legs! Don't really want to spend loads on maternity clothes knowing that this is my last baby and all. In about the last 5 days my bump must have been on a massive growth spurt as I suddenly look very pregnant.

Will try and upload some pictures.

Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of posts. Had anomoly scan today and everything is absolutely fine, thank goodness. I was so nervous about it.
We are having another little girl, we are all really pleased.

sweetkitty · 22/02/2008 10:46

Right have added some pics but the captions didn't come out right, first one is me taken last night, second is the DDs, third is DD2 looking very cheeky.

you look great!

and your kids are adorable - so happy i am having a girl!

what kind of buggy is that?
i need something that will be good for the cobblestones here in copenhagen.

sweetkitty · 22/02/2008 10:56

Wouldn't say that Tjuice but thanks

Are the buggies the ones the girls are pushing? They are the ones Santa Claus brought them for Christmas lol

Girls are great (although I'm sure I would say the same about boys)

JODIEhavingababy · 22/02/2008 11:16

Morning,

SK your girls are beautiful! and your bump is so lovely and round!

My bump has suddenly appeared too, which is nice as I don't feel fat anymore, I am def. preggers!

I also feel 100%, This is the bit I LOVE about being pregnant, My skin has suddenly cleared up, my hair feels nice, my nails are starting to get strong, so all in all, I've reached the 'glowing stage!' Down side is, bad back/pelvis, indegestion, sore nips and contant hunger! I've enven started 'nesting' (and I NEVER clean!)

Sorry if some of you are still feeling poorly, I do feel for you, last time I started feeling rough again in 3rd trimester, so I'm making the most of it!

This time next week I'll be in Spain seeing my mum and dad, so that will be nice too, I hope the wheather's nice as it's pants there at the mo!

isaidno · 22/02/2008 12:51

sk - you have a lovely bump!

bebejones · 22/02/2008 13:12

Am such a late comer to this thread! Am also due 31st July with first baby and am so SO scared! Feel so out of my depth and I live miles from all my closest friends and family. Have been signed off from work for 11 weeks now with horrific sickness and have felt completely miserable and alone, thank god for mumsnet it has really perked me up the last few days since I discovered it! I'm the first one of my close group of friends to have a baby, although one of DH's friends is due in May and we are going to be Godparents to her baby. As for the food thing it's really only been the last week or so that eating habits have returned to near normal! Although I am eating alot of junk with the odd bit of celery thrown in to make me feel like I am being virtuous!!

JODIEhavingababy · 22/02/2008 13:37

Welcome Bebejones,

It's only natural to feel scared and abit alone when it's your first time (and even your second or third...) it's such a life changing thing to happen...

My parents live in Spain, and I'm the first one out of all my friends to have a baby(even now all of them are childless and I'm on no. 2) But I've met some great people from various clubs I started to go to when DS was born!

No one can prepeare you for what's going to happen, no matter how hard they try, it's an exciting time, but can be hard too! But Very rewarding.... (sometimes!) Just take every bit of advice with a pinch of salt and do what's best for you and baby, every baby is different after all... And don't forget to just ask any question you like, however stupid you might think it sounds! I thin kthere are now 60 of us on this thread, so one of us will have been there, or at least have something to say on the matter!!!!
