Hi All,

Not been on a for a few days - been feeling hellish. Sick again and awful sinusitis - SWEETKITTY - I am with you I feel utterly miserable when pg and definitley this will be my last!

Always wanted 3 but just feel too ill. This is my 4th pregnancy in 21/2 years and I feel like poor DH and DD are being neglected 'cos I feel crap all the time

POLEDRA - Caitlin IS a beautiful name, but in Scotland anyway, I am afraid that it is just one of those names that occur frequently with wild children!!

NIKNAK - nice pics - really well defined.

RE GYM BALLS - they help your core stability muscles - the muscles that hold your pelvis, lower back and abdomen together type thing. Whilst you are sitting on them your body is constantly making minute muscle adjustments to keep you balanced so really good for you in general. I used mine when in labour with my tens too - it was a help.

RE EPIDURAL - not many places do mobile ones so if you have a 'normal' one you cannot walk so are not allowed out of bed - they make you numb from the waist(ish) down. I wanted a water birth but it wasn't to be as I had an epidural so had to stay in bed<

Some people say they slow labour down but I think it depends on your circumstances. I had to have syntocinon ( to regulate contractions) and the epidural allowed me to rest before I had to start pushing. I am hoping to have a water birth this time but I won't be scared or feel like a failure if I need to have an epidural again. I remember crying with DD as I felt like I was inadequate because I had to ask for one!! How stupid in retrospect.

I definitley have bump now too but I feel like the rest of me is made of marshmallow - I am all spongy and have 0 muscle tone. Feel at the state of me - after this LO pops out I am getting fit again !!!

Had letter form hospital today - spina bifida and Down's very low risk - thank goodness - had a wee cry with relief as was scare about the Downs thing.

Hope all you ladies are well must go as DD is a sleep and I need to do as much as poss when I feel okay!

xxx

MrsHOP · 22/02/2008 14:34

hi everyone, hope all good? of all the scan news & pics, mine isn't until 10th...

I am having serious bra issues at the mo, can anyone help!? I am a 34D usually, and busting out of them, don't know what size to buy! will 34DD do it until end of pregnancy or should I go for 34E now?! Will my back size get bigger too or just cup size - ie should I go for 36E? I obviously don't want to shell out loads on maternity bras but would like to get one or two pretty ones. Experienced maternity bra-buyers advice needed!!

Pigley, I have just looked at your page and noticed we got married on the same day last year - good choice! You didn't do glastonbury for honeymoon too by any chance?

MrsHOP · 22/02/2008 14:35

by the way has anyone heard from MissChika she has been quiet recently and I hope everything is ok?

bebejones · 22/02/2008 14:48

Thanks JODIE! Is really nice seeing what stage other people are at! Gives me something to compare everything to and things to look forward to, although at the moment I just want the sickness to stop and my pelvis to stop hurting for 5 mins!!

Minkus · 22/02/2008 14:57

Hello all

There have been so many posts this morning! Friday obv a chill out day

Re bra's MrsHop I'd really recommend getting measured properly - I've found M&S do the best service but guess it depends whether your nearest one is any good. As your ribcage expands/weight changes when you're preggers sometimes your back size alters as well as the cup size- last time I went from a 38d to a 42e in about the blink of an eye, this time round I bought a mat bra about 1 month ago that I was measured for in Mothercare and it fitted for approx 4 days before gargantuan boob growth kicked in and my poor mammaries are now an E again (was back to a D before getting pg)

Hello bebejones, sorry you've had awful sickness too - there are quite a few of us on this thread who are still icky. I've been signed off since end of week 6 (now 20 weeks!) and so can sympathise with the boredom bit. There is a list further back in the thread with a big list of us/due dates/other children' ages etc so do cut and psate and add yourself on!

It is my birthday on Sunday and I have no idea what I would like- dh not v good at giving surprises (which I love) so am racking my brain for something I would like. Anybody have some ideas on what I should drop hints about?
xx

Minkus · 22/02/2008 14:58

Or you could even cut and paste, not sure how you'd psate

sweetkitty · 22/02/2008 15:50

bebejones - hello and welcome to mumsnet but be warned it is seriously addictive, echo what Jodie has said it's a great place for support and advice, am so with you on the pelvic pain seems there are so many of us suffering now

Rumpel - aww you sound quite down, your DD is not being neglected, I know how youa re feeling though, I have had to slow down so much with the SPD I could hardly kick a ball with them out in the garden the other day. I really felt for my DD1 last time as towards the end all we did was watch cbeebies, read and do jigsaws but it's for such a short period of their lives and the best thing you could give your DD is a sibling. My two fight like mad but they are also very close (I think you will have a similar gap) in a few years when they are chasing after each other you will have forgotten about this time.

MrsHop - I agree with Minkus got get measured at M&S they are really good, I am so lax this time though I remember with DD1 I went and got measured at about 10 weeks and had gone from a 34D to a 38E also had no nursing bras once she was born as they tell you to get them about 2 weeks before your due date and DD1 came before then. This time I am still in my regular bras. Oh sports bras are good as well as they are nice and supportive.

Minkus - definitely think you should be spoiled for your birthday since you are pregnant as well. Some nice jewellery even costume stuff to jazz up the maternity clothes. Or a new hair cut or facial to perk you up.

Think the DDs have been on a sponsored naughty day today, I was upstairs hoovering and didn't hear DD1 had opened the baby gate to the kitchen and when I came down they had spilled cat litter all over the floor and DD1 had ate some she hasn't done this in ages I thought she had grown out of it by now. The cat litter tray is at the back of a huge cupboard in the kitchen the little minx. They have also been playing at putting their dollies in the toilet upstairs literally so there was water everywhere. No wonder my pelvis is sore cleanign up after them and going up and down the stairs every 5 minutes.

Mrs Hop- All the best people get married on that day!
Not Glastonbury for us, we were travelling around Thailandfor our honeymoon.

Just got back from meeting with friends and thier babies for lunch. Was great to meet them but i have lots of ligament pain at the moment so walking hurts, rising up and bending over kills and i thought i was going to cry when i started to drive.
Should it be like this or not as bad? Anyone with any experience of this?

Lovely pics SK! Girls look very cute!

OOpps meant to say welcome to Bebejones. I agree Mumsnet is very addictive!

bebejones · 22/02/2008 16:00

Does anyone have any tips for easing round ligament pain? DH tried rubbing my back last night and I just ended up getting snappy coz he was doing it too hard, too soft, not high enough, not low enough.....! Thought about hot water bottle but Im sure I read somewhere that prolonged heat can be bad for baby! MW said not to slouch and to sit slightly forward and Doc said take paracetemol if it's too bad! Not helpful, just common sense!!! Plus I dont really want to take stuff unless I REALLY have to! It isn't really painful more uncomfortable, dull & achey and sharp stabbing when I move too suddenly...or sneeze!

Mummywannabe · 22/02/2008 16:00

Hi all,

Started off today feeling quite small in bump stakes and now feel like an elephant?!

Does anyone elses bubba stay quiet all day only to kick and squirm all evening. Spend all day poking tummy as think something is wrong and all night feeling silly cause baby is active.

sweetkitty · 22/02/2008 16:00

pigley - I'm afraid it sounds very normal. This is my third time with it and it doesn't get any easier. I would speak to your MW she can refer you to a physio how will show you how to move to limit the pain and some exercises that can help.

OP posts:
Mummywannabe · 22/02/2008 16:02

bebjones - sneezing ouch that hurts doesn't it. No advice but eager to see if someone had magic cure. I read that about heat pads etc. Trying ot work out if its something i should take seriously or not (heat pads that is not ligament pain).

pigleychez · 22/02/2008 16:12

Thanks SK

Ive had this week off work as holiday and due to go back on Monday.
Im dreading it as it hurts so much i really dont know how im going to manage. I have an active job wtih lots of bending and moving about- Move of which really really hurt!

Is this it now till labour or will it get better?

Really worried about what my boss is going to say if i tell her im finding it hard.- Shes not the most sympathic!

mummypig · 22/02/2008 16:18

hi everyone, good news we finally have sorted a cardio referral for ds2, so although I'm still quite worried about him i'm relieved that something is happening

Minkus i suggest you need LOADS of pampering for your birthday. For mine dp and I went to a hotel on Sat night (his sister looked after the boys) with a spa so we did lots of relaxing the next day. I booked that! but we did both feel we needed the break as Xmas was pretty stressful. Then he bought me a voucher from this place:
www.returntoglory.co.uk/
which I haven't used yet but I am looking forward to. My sister paid for a pregnancy massage, and some other relatives gave me money which I used to get a haircut on the same day as a complementary makeup session at SpaceNK . It was all very much appreciated and not the kind of stuff i do all the time so felt like a real treat. Plus our next door neighbour keeps commenting on how great I look so something must have worked .

better get off the computer now as I have a deal with the boys and need to set a good example

Minkus · 22/02/2008 16:54

wow that link is great, shame I don't live in London or I would be forwarding it to dh very rapidly

TJuice · 22/02/2008 17:26

oh pigley, sounds horrid. hope it doesn't get any worse.

SK - maybe its just me, but i always find it strange the little girls like stuff like mini-buggys and cots and stuff (I didn't even realise that they were toys didn't see the perspectives - see how clueless i am ). i don't remember playing with that stuff but then i was a grotty little tomboy . . .

bebejones · 22/02/2008 19:16

Pigley - totally know what you mean about driving! Changing gear (putting foot on clutch) and putting the handbrake on brings tears to my eyes. Really hoping this doesnt last til the birth.

JODIEhavingababy · 22/02/2008 19:35

Evening all

re back pain, I'm starting Ante-natal Yoga in a couple of weeks, I did it last time and it was AMAZING! I used All the tecniques in labour, whether it actually helped or not is a different matter, but it kept my mind off what was actually happening! I didn't have back pain with DS, but I remember a couple of the girls suffering and she showed them what excersises to do to relax the affected area. I'm also going to try refelxology, see if that works...have asked for a session for mothers day, so fingers crossed (although the Reflexologist that I used with DS is a 'specialist' not a beauty therapist, as most beauty therapists can't do maternity reflexology, so it's better to check first)

I'm not a new age hippy or anything, but as bebejones said, i don't really want to take anything unless I have to!

sweetkitty · 22/02/2008 20:41

I am cautious about writing anything about anyones pain as we are all so different but IME this is it, theres things you can do to not aggrevate it but it's always there. Can't recommend a birth/gym ball highly enough. Sleeping with a pillow between your legs, going up stairs one at a time, I also find a hot bath with lavender oil in it (can be used in pregnancy great for relaxing) also helped. For me it's part of pregnancy It's getting me down right now as I can't do the things I used to but I know it's not forever. The physio told me the only real cure is delivery but hey it is worth it.

Tjuice - although my girls have girly stuff they also have cars, diggers, a garage, train set, footballs etc DD2 is obsessed with diggers just now. I think I am going to have one girly girl and one tomboy.

pigley - don't know what to suggest apart from the above, I would say being a mum of a 2 and 3yo I know where you are coming from re being very active.

bebejones - yes driving is strange just now even just keeping my right foot on the accelerator was difficult but hey it's better than walking.

19 + weeks and counting girls, we can get through this, it truly is worth it, when I was thinking about ttc no3 the SPD put me off but I though I can cope with 25 weeks of it for another baby, hey and theres always mumsnet for a moan

erm is anyone else peeing like mad, I've been trying to drink 4 glasses of water a day as I think I'm always dehydrated but am peeing like mad and don't remember it being as bad last time so soon. Oh and TMI if I cough or sneeze and I haven't been to the toilet recently it can get interesting.

hello all

sweetkitt yyou look fab and not a bit what i had expected!

i have no proper bump yet and fiinding it a bit annoying
starting to worry me that at scan it will be all tiny or something - supposed to be 20+5 although think its earlier by a few days

nausea all but gone - just like that over last 3 days ODD!!!!

piggly i am not sure what your pain is BUT last time at about this stage i had some terrible back pain low down and did ask a physios advice

i cannot even remember what she said but the upshi=ot was that it only lasted a few weeks adn then went completely - of yes it was ligaments softening but i promise you it stopped

much later i got spd ( for the first time) but that was deffo different - so this pain may be transient - i feel hopeful you are young and not carrying a lot f weight so i would look forward to it diappearing if i were you x

sweetkitty · 22/02/2008 20:52

thank you Paula you are very gracious, the bump has only appeared in the last 5 days I kid you not, pumpkin must be on a growth spurt. What did you think I looked like? It's so strange as I build up mental pictures of people on here than you see a photo and they are completely different.

OP posts:
PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 22/02/2008 20:59
