Curry has given me heartburn - oh I forgot about the heartburn, better get the shares in Gaviscon bought then.

Sorry feel like all I do is whinge I am miserable when pregnant I did warn you, I will be happy, happy, happy once baby is here (because I will never have to be pregnant again).

sweetkitty - ouch! not had too much of this yet. Posted on your other thread.

sweetkitty · 19/02/2008 21:06

Get the mint Gaviscon the aniseed one is rotten, I used to buy the huge bottles and swig it straight from the bottle at my desk at work too

FrannyandZooey · 19/02/2008 21:48

Hello chaps

have my scan tomorrow, am feeling very ambivalent about it actually
personally would prefer not to know if there are problems - I would rather deal with whatever, at the time

my stomach is vast and so itchy
am expecting a delivery of stretch marks any day - think I found one on my breast earlier but is sometimes hard to tell when you have been itching and scratching, what is stretch mark and what is fingernails

isaidno · 20/02/2008 07:29

Godd luck FandZ - I'm sure it will all be fine anyway! I know what you mean about fingernail marks / stretch marks. I am soooo itchy.

I am also very thirsty at night. I wake up with a mouth like I've drunk 2 bottles of wine (I wish!) and have to have a glass of water.

beepbeep · 20/02/2008 07:58

You can get Gaviscon on pescription by the way ladies!!! (a lot cheaper if you're going through a tonne)

Mummywannabe · 20/02/2008 08:23

Morning all - great tip about the gaviscon on prescription, didn't think of that! Hoping i won't need that much (god i'm naive!)

Hips still sore but getting used to it!

Good luck with scan franny, agree about not wanting to know about anything that might be wrong. Obsessed by my scan next week but if wasn't offered i doubt it would be in the forefront of my mind.

Spend all day really hungry and then not fancy much dinner because i've been picking all day, then wake up hungry and sick feeling in the morning, must get back to eating some sort of normal meal structure! (she says trying not to raid lunch bag under office desk and eat the crisps! After all only an hour since breakfast, shouldn't be hungry already surely? )

Minkus · 20/02/2008 08:23

F&Z good luck with your scan, fingers crossed for you. I'm with you on the itchy bump- I woke up yesterday morning with a load of little red "veins" running vertically down from my waist. Aaaaaargh! The cream I used in last pregnancy isn't made any longer and I know that worked cos I was bigger to begin with then, and I got only a few stretchmarks on my hips. Boo-hoo!

SK here is a virtual cup of tea and a hug, hope you feel less "wobblesome" today.

Any more thoughts on names? We're not telling anyone in real life but I don't mind telling you lot! We've decided it's definitely a Hugh if it's a boy, (little Hughie! So cute) but can't decide on a girls name. I have loved Greta for years and years but DH prefers Lily. Like this too but would be sorry to give up Greta seeing as it's been "my" girls name for so long! (SK, Kitty is my all time favourite girls name but a friend "stole" that one a few years ago and I could have walloped her for it) You lot got any ideas?

x

Minkus · 20/02/2008 08:27

x posted mummywannabe! I am "hungry" all the time too. Thought I had found something that had hit the spot yesterday- nectarines- but doesn't seem to be working this morning

Mummywannabe · 20/02/2008 08:31

Names: love Isla for a girl - went off phillipa (pippa) when my mum said it sounded horsey! Mums you have to love them

Like Benjamin for a boy

When you have worked with children for 10 years its so hard not to find a name you associate with someone elses child! Have looked after lots of Benjamins but they have all been so lovely it hasn't put me off. In fact all of the little ones i have looked after are lovely but some names bring up too much of an association! Sure pigleychez feels the same!

Minkus · 20/02/2008 09:05

Ooooh isla and pippa were on our list too! (pippa after ds's first favourite nursery worker, he adored her - she was amazing such a lovely girl but doesn't work there now )

Mums are ace about that sort of thing- the reason we haven't told anyone our names in rl is so that they can't say anything bad about them- once the baby arrives and we tell everyone his/her name I'm hoping nobody would be as rude as to say "oh that's awful reminds me of x"

Benjamin is lovely, can imagine a Benjamin growing up to be someone a mum would be really realy proud of!

sweetkitty · 20/02/2008 09:20

Morning all I'm always too lazy to go and get a prescription for Gaviscon but will get more motivated this time, it's about £9 for a big bottle and at it's worst it was lasting me about 4 days and I hate the stuff and only drink it when absolutely necessary.

Re: names we really don't have a clue and I also second telling no one in RL your thoughts as they will put you off no matter what. Unless you are 100% ans say the baby is a boy his name is Jack and thats that. Even then you will get family trying to persuade you otherwise. Our surname is only 4 letters so small names are out, names with 3 syllables (spp?) are a lot better. Oh it's so difficult.

F&Z - good luck for today are you finding out boy/girl or having a surprise? I know what you mean about not knowing but at the same time it's nice to see the baby and if it's all good news it puts your mind at rest a bit.

Right mission for today is to drink more water I have good intentions but never quite manage to drink enough I think it's one of the reasons I am so narky and sluggish sometimes.

OP posts:
isaidno · 20/02/2008 09:22

Names - on my list of possibles I have...
Rebecca
Isabel (but there are 100's round here at the mo)
Elizabeth (DH's choice)
Caitlyn
Eleanor (DH hates that one)
Imogen

I could go on, but I doubt I will ever find one DH and I agree on!

pigleychez · 20/02/2008 09:59

Mummywannabe- I completely agree with you!
Cant help but associate names with children you teach.

Used to love the names Ella, Molly and Max but now those names just bring back memories of "troublesome" children.

Good luck with the scan F&Z!

Names- We are thinking Matthew George for a boy (always taught nice Matthews!) Plus its DH's middle name, he likes the idea of his son being named after him.
I also like Thomas but think we will same that for the next- Jumping the gun abit! lol

Mum is really keen on the name Filby!?

Girls names we like Abigail,Lucy,Amy- all with the middle name Rose. But we keep changing our mind on girls names.

MIL is set on Chantelle for a girl.. Not really our cup of tea!

Sleeping has become an issue lately for me. Takes Hours to actually get off to sleep, then seem to wake up about 4/5am and lay awake tossing and turning for another few hours. Seem to have alsorts going through my mind- mainly silly baby stuff that really doesnt need to be worried about!

sweetkitty · 20/02/2008 12:04

Pigley - DD1 is an Abigail (Abbie) DD2 was almost a Caitlin but she is so not a Caitlin, I suppose I want a name like hers (Talia) it just jumped out at me, it's unusual but not wacky.

I love Matthew too but know a Matthew already, it's so hard like all the best names have been taken my friends already.

DP and I cannot agree on one name so far I suspect this baby will be about 2 before it has a name, although it is Rosie according to DD1.

mummypig · 20/02/2008 13:29

hi everyone, you have been busy on this thread haven't you don't have time to read and comment on everyone's messages but I have my scan today, feeling much the same as F&Z, wouldn't have booked it if it were not for dp wanting to see the baby and check if things are okay. But many things might not show up on the scan...

...plus we have just found out that ds2 may have cardiac problems so I'm a bit more worried about that than anything to do with this next one.

I love Talia but don't think my dp would like it (he's a bit more conventional than me lol). Anyway if we find out the sex today we can start thinking about names more seriously. Ds2 wasn't named for a few days but at least we both agreed when we chose his name

Heffa · 20/02/2008 13:34

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but hi! I'm new to Mumsnet, and I'm a first-timer due on 19th July. I've been reading the boards a lot for the last week or so, but I didn't find this thread till today.

So, hello everyone

sweetkitty · 20/02/2008 14:13

mummypig - oh your poor DS hope things are OK and for the scan too

heffa - hello and welcome to mumsnet be warned it's seriously addictive, I found it when pregnant with my first and haven't been away since.

RUMPEL · 20/02/2008 14:58

Hi All,

SWEETKITTY - hope your pelvis is behaving today! Mean't to say about your previous work - food pharmacist or something? Sounds quite interesting.

Am having major difficulties trying to keep up with all these posts!!

RE WEIGHT - I am back down again - only 1 3/4 lbs gain. Puked again this morning

RE CLOTHES - my DD was 7lb when she was born - we were shocked as I was GARGANTUAN and DH is 6'22 and I am 5'9" and a big build. I had major probs bf (flat nips) and she went all scrawny and teeny, wee soul. I had to go buy premi stuff to fit her!! I started ff and bf her at 3 weeks so she put it on quickly. Personally I have 1 nightdress - open at the bottom with long sleeves and it was FAB for night changing - no footerring about with poppers/legs etc. Highly recommend them and am going to buy some more for sure. I still have outfits she never wore - uni stuff so I have kept them all. My DD didn't wear anything until she was 3 days old I just wrapped her up in her shawl. My Mum mentioned that I might like to dress her eventually.

Re NAMES - Imogen is lovely.
Caitlin puts the fear of God into most teachers/lecturers as does Chelsea - usually quite wild children for some reason.

Benjamin is nice, Greta makes me think of a goat herder (sorry)

I love M names eg Matt, Mervyn, Morgan, Marlow but doesn't go at all with my married name Filby makes me think of trilby hats Isla is nice but reminds me of horrid person at school. Annabelle and Anastacia are gorgeous names - I always liked Aurora too. Millions of Megans In Scotland - not sure if it is the same in England. Olivia is THE name of choice the past few years and Jack has been no 1 for about 4 years now.

We have opted for Poppy for pink and Calvin for blue.

Wel must go and try to motivate myself to do something!!

Take care Allxxx

Hi fellow bumps... Just got onto net post busy morning but have added photos of baby NikNak at 20weeks to profile so have a look.

Off to catch up on all the chat I've missed now

Minkus · 20/02/2008 15:40

Lovely pics niknak! so clear!

mummypig how worrying for you- will it be long before you know more about ds2? Good luck for scan.

And hello heffa, hope you've had a straightforward pregnancy so far.

at greta being a goat herder, exactly why we decided not to tell anyone in real life! Bit of an unusual choice so didn't want friends/family going ooooh that sounds a bit odd!

isaidno · 20/02/2008 16:49

wow ; niknak - what long legs!!

Heffa · 20/02/2008 17:14

Thanks I have had a straightforward pregnancy so far (touch wood). Morning sickness was a nightmare though so I'm glad that's finally over.

Love the scan photos NikNak!

isaidno · 20/02/2008 17:28

just uploaded a new photo of my bump - not a great pic - it was taken by DS1 !
