sweetkitty - so sorry to hear you're in such pain. It's not surprising you're down. It really sounds like you've got a raw deal.

Soothing vibes coming your way, but I'm not sure what else I can do. Feel free to carry on moaning. You know that here you've got many, many sympathetic ears!

LilyToTheB · 12/03/2008 13:55

Hi sweetkitty, sorry you're suffering so much! It can't be very nice for you.
I'm sure the next 18 weeks will fly by if it's any consolation, and you'll have a lovely babba at the end of it, hang on in there!
Just rest and look after yourself

I know what you mean about not wanting to moan, and when people ask you how you are, you feel you should be happy cos you're having a baby!
Don;t worry about moaning on here, that's what's it's here for!

Is there anything your doc/mw can do to help ease the pain?

Kaz1967 · 12/03/2008 13:59

I feel like I have a large worm wiggling around in my tummy today. Why on earth could they not have moved around like this yesterday they might have made things a little easier for the poor girls who did the scan They must have moved away from me fibroid they are kicking the other side of my belly button. I have a lovely bruise on my right hip where the last girl was trying to get the probe inside to get a good pic of the little horrors face and properly check for a cleft lip. Oh well goes with the bruise I still have on my pubis from about 5 weeks ago

LilyToTheB · 12/03/2008 14:53

Oh Kaz, poor you! I've only just started feeling the baby move, was so paranoid for ages that it wasn't ok, that I'm obsessed with every little flutter!
I'm sure I'll be moaning when it starts kicking me in the ribs!

Glad your scan went well

minipinkscottish · 12/03/2008 15:36

hi all and congrats to all who have had scans!!

OMG Minkus I am totally with you! Having an awful time at the moment. After ds being sick on Friday and Saturday and then dd on Sunday and Monday I went to work on Tuesday and had to get classroom assisstant to come and look after class while I went to throw up!. Had to go home and was sick over and over yesterday.....strained a stomach muscle and was literally screaming in pain trying to get out of the chair! Then at 4am this morning thought I was having a heart attack..the pain in chest and back was terrible! However, I had had this before and managed to suffer until docs opened. I have torn stomach muscle (just to add to SPD) and have inflamation of the oesophogus(sp?).
Got meds for inflamation but have to keep torn muscle till it gets better..
Have cried and cried today....love this baby but can't wait for pg to be over !!

Sorry for moan!

Kaz1967 · 12/03/2008 15:39

Ignore me Lily I am being pathetic so many people have it so much worse than me I have been feeling this one flutter about since they were about 13 weeks

EEC · 12/03/2008 16:18

SK and minipink. You poor things. Go right ahead and moan as much as you like. Kaz too.

I guess I really do have it easy. It's not the baby, but everything else stressing me out and getting on top of me at the moment...

Never mind. DCs are happy and healthy and LO wriggling on occasion so all's well really.

Knickers constantly falling down too. Perhaps over bump briefs are better? Any opinions?

MissChika · 12/03/2008 17:01

Hey everyone,

Sorry to hear that some of us are going through a rough time but it's definitely best to get it off your chest on MN!

Minipink - inflammation of the oesophagus is dreadful isn't it? I had it once from taking malaria tablets and I just had no idea what was wrong with me. Thought I was going to choke to death. i really hope the meds work.

I have the problem with knickers falling down and I wear bikini briefs - why does this happen?! I often find myself having to hoist them up at the most inappropriate times. I would also love some opinions on whether over bump knickers are better (although DP will shake his head in disbelief if my knickers get any bigger!!

RUMPEL · 12/03/2008 17:01

Hi All,

DISNEYSTAR - haven't heard from you for ages! I hope your Dh is on the mend and life settles down for you - you have had a rough deal with some aspects of this life.

SWEETKITTY - thinking of your pelvis and sending it stability vibes - visualise it being strong and supportive every day -= may sound cooky but it will help.

MINIPINK - poor you. A bug form the little darlings? Ouch to torn muscle! You need to rest and no laughing allowed Hugs of sympathy.

LAZYHIPPO - glad to hear all is well now.

I have been trying to study today - my head is buzzing! DD is at nursery so a bit of peace - she is really getting defiant now and starting to push the boundaries! I don't have the energy at night to deal with her - help!

Must go as cats are shouting and ned to pick up DD.

Take care all
xx

Mummywannabe · 12/03/2008 17:30

Sorry to all of you that feel rubbish. Imflammation of the oesophagus is just horrible, had it a while ago due to stress and i thought i was having a heart attack too!

I'm not feeling too bad just very tired as bump goes mad from about 3am. Also very very hungry and get shaky if i don't eat huge amounts. Put on 1 stone excatly so far and am 23 weeks. Only 10 1/2 weeks left at work and i have so much to do.

Minkus · 12/03/2008 18:21

Minipink you poor poor thing- like MissChika said though its best to get it off your chest here . Are dc's better now?

I maybe posting a similar message soon, aaargh! as ds was sick in the car on the way home from nursery today (luckily dh had picked him up so had to deal with the mess!) and has been in his pj's since about 4.
Looks v green and listless poor love. He was awake in the night lots too as his mouth was hurting (got quite a few ulcers) so he must be pretty run down. Think a few sofa days of quiet play and lots of cuddles are on the cards.

RUMPEL · 12/03/2008 19:17

Minkus - make sure he doesn't have hand, foot and mouth. Mouth ulcers are first sign, with temperature, crying, then a couple of days later red spots appear, usually on hand and feet but can be arms, legs and torso. Think it just has to run its course but calpol/disprol help. If he does you'll need to let nursery know - highly contagious.

sweetkitty · 12/03/2008 20:34

minipink - ouch poor you you are not having a good week hope it gets better really soon

minkus - your poor DS as well, hate my babies not being well

Rumpel - I'm with you on the lack of energy to deal with toddlers, my two are going through a real fighting spat, well DD1 keeps hitting DD2 I know it because she is frustrated with DD2 but still. Then today heard this thud down the stairs, it was DD1, why because she had been in my cupboard and "borrowed" a pair of shoes and was trying to come downstairs in them.

When DP came in I went upstairs had a shower and exfoliated my scaly face. Thanks for the kind words means a lot, had my support belt on most of the afternoon don't know if it helped but it annoys me more than anything. Does anyone else just not feel comfy ever? Bit early to start though.

OP posts:
MinniethePink · 12/03/2008 21:38

SK and indeed Minipink - can you get a referral to a physio from your midwife? I have asked for one even though the SPD is mostly manageable at the moment ('normal' growing pains seem to be worse right now) because I think it's going to increase and I don't want to wait ages when it is really bad. I have a tubigrip support thing and it doesn't do much (and I have to re-adjust it twenty times a day as it rolls down) but it does help a bit.

No probs with knickers, but have to hoist my trousers up several times daily! (and no - bump is NOT small)

Bought a RED p&t buggy this week - couldn't decide between red or navy and made my friend decide for me - far too complicated a decision for a pg person. Ordered from eBay in america because that's where my parents are right now - they are away for four months straight so I think it's only a fitting penance that they have to bring back a buggy with them! Was bargain though, hurrah! Hope it fits the bill.. is only our fourth one!!

MILs... sigh... mine not a problem at the moment because, er, long story but essentially she doesn't even know I'm pg and we haven't seen her in almost 7mths. DH does the odd duty call but that's about it. I keep saying he really should tell her soon (like, before the birth) but he's really stressed at work and doesn't want to add to it all. MrsHop - not to stick my oar in but your DH's response of 'she is my mum' sounds a bit, well, defensive to me? Like that's how she makes him feel rather than how he really feels. He might even get annoyed with how you say you feel because secretly deep down he agrees but can't acknowledge that... just a thought!

Session over!

cass66 · 12/03/2008 21:43

sweetykitty, I'm with you on the feuding sisters - I think it's a girl thing. mine are a bit old to be toddlers (5 and 3), but my do they fight. the older one winds the younger one up until the younger one hits or bites. and then other times they are the best of friends! I think a lot of the competitiveness comes from school, as do some of the names. have started having sticker charts again for being good. kind of working so far....

not looking forward to work tomorrow. just too tired at present to feel mentally alert enough.

and there is slapped cheek disease at nursery, which is mainly a risk if less than 20 weeks preg, but still a worry.

and my shoe draw is a favourite toy box for my youngest, especially the silver shoes and high heels!

Kaz1967 · 12/03/2008 21:51

cass66 They do site it as a risk if you are under 20 weeks and recommend you stay away from people with it (as if you know most of the time) chances are though you have had it an are immune but do not know so try not to worry too much. Just found this from NHS direct on recommendations for pregnant women if you are concerned talk to your Midwife or GP tomorrow

Kaz1967 · 12/03/2008 21:52

same article for prevention says

To prevent the spread of slapped cheek syndrome, try to make sure that everyone in your household washes their hands frequently, in order to reduce the chances of the infection spreading.

Which you are probably doing anyway

Kaz1967 · 12/03/2008 22:25

Why did I pick up gaviscon original not the peppermint as I thought I had it is disgusting

pigleychez · 12/03/2008 23:20

Hi everyone.

Been an expensive day for me. My car had its MOT and service which threw up a few things that needed changing. Ended up costing me £500 but at least the car is all fixed and wont break down on me with a LO in the back.

Been busy packing tonight as we are off to cornwall for a long weekend tomorow. Hopefully the weather brightens up abit.

Bumps name is abit boring really- Usually just called Bump. My mum thinks its a girl and has been calling it Jemimma and my dad who thinks its a boy calls it his grandson.

disneystar- Whats it like having gestational diabetes? Is it diet controlled? At my last appointment i was told i had a trace of sugar in my urine and she would be keeping an eye on me for that too.

Rabbbits- my guess.... 30th ,7 lb 1 at 3.40am

Cass- I too have Knicker issues! Keep having to pull them up. I recently bought a pack of Full briefs in a size up. Not very glam but seem to do the trick as they come about half way up the bump.

minipinkscottish- rest up and get better soon.I know how much it hurt when i pulled a round ligament muscle a few weeks ago.

sweetkitty- Hope the pain doesnt get too bad for you. Put your feet up and rest as much as possible.

lazyhippo- Glad your scan went ok and you are more relaxed now.

disneystar · 13/03/2008 07:05

hi all and pigleychez its a pian having gd my last ds weighed 9lb 4oz at 37 wks they had to induce me becuase he was so huge or rather i was
i have to stick to a very rigid diet of foods and you know when you are pg if you really fancy even a square of choc i cant,my craving is cheese but thats strictly monitored now.
i have to test my blood sugar levels 4 times a day and for this entire week i cannot eat inbetween meals eg 8am - 12 i find that hard im starving by lunchtime but the reason i have to be so strict this week is my blood sugar is raging to high and they will put me on insulin om monday so im trying real hard.

the consultant has spoken to me about inducement which i am NOT going to allow i want this baby to arrive when its ready regardless of size, day of truth in a way i have my scan today and you know how you feel is it ok is it growing alright
if i have missed your post im sorry for this question how did you scan go?
rumpel thank you for asking after my dh he is ok takin his meds he gets so tired i guess weve all had to adapt to his change of pace and him sitting still or on sofa is gettin a regular sight,as long as hes with me i dont care wouldnt want to go through another episode of his last attack
finally my son came home from school and he has chicken pox i thought lovely i have 3 ds here whos never had it including dh i checked my bloods with mw im ok and immune,of to do the calamine lotion have a good day everyone and lots of rest of possible.

beepbeep · 13/03/2008 08:01

Morning all!
Finally made an appointment with chiropractor (sp?!)for SPD, went to see doctor as getting so bad and she was pretty honest and told me that i wouldn't get to see anyone on nhs in pregnancy timespan. have alread seen physio who just told me not to liftthings etc and gave me support thing that just annoyed me. spoke with chiro who explained the pain is alot because pelvis is out of line cause of flexible ligaments in pregnancy, he basically puts it back where it should be and then gives me exercises to do with DH that should keep it that way to relieve the pain. Friend has been to see same guy for same thing and says it's helped tonnes. Possibility for all you other SPD sufferers? Costs about £30-£35 half ad hour, but i suppose if it works it's worth it, plus i've been told i'll only need a few sessions then should be able to control it with the exercises.

hope everyone who feeling icky or have DDs or DSs the same are feeling better soon.

we're off to stay with my family for weekend this aft - after i've cleaned up the chewed flowers DD has fed to the dog!

JODIEhavingababy · 13/03/2008 08:30

Morning all,

Disney I am ashamed to say I'd forgotten about your hubby, but it's all come back to me now, glad he is safe at home now. But feel sorry for you now watching your diet, and now an outbreak of Chickenpox why do all these things happen at once!! Good luck with the scan today...

Talking of scans I've got mine at 10.10! I can't wait to see baby again! It's a proper little wriggler, so lets hope he/she keeps it up for this morning!

Sorry to hear about everyones malardies (sp) it seems in prgnancy you replace one sicky feeling with another! Just think, it's not long to go really in the whole grand scheme of things! (that's supposed to be words of encouragement, I hope it comes accross that way )

As for the trouser/pants thing, I'm with Pigley I went and bout some cheap cotton jobbies in the next size that fit round my middle, no more pant issues, but plenty of trouser ones!!!

I went to the Reflexologist on Tues night, it was fab, didn't make me feel 100%, but it's heading in the right direction, and I had an hour of 'me time!' Brill, going again in 2 weeks... And my indgestion hasn't been quite so bad the last couple of days...

Anyway, sorry for long rambling post but I'm off to make dying hubby a Lemsip and make sure he gets up.... (while pulling my trousers up at the same time!)

BTW Pigley and beepbeep have a great weekend away... Hope the weather gets better.

TJuice · 13/03/2008 08:34

hey everyone. so sorry to hear about the ailments, especially kitty. its so disheartening and must be hard with two kiddies already.

i am doing pretty well - just a bit knackered as i tend to wake up around 5.30 then potter around, then go back to sleep until 8 when the alarm goes off and feel really terrible and groggy. maybe i should just force myself to stay awake as i feel okay the first time i wake up.

anyway, get well soon.

EEC · 13/03/2008 08:51

Morning all. Sorry about chicken pox Disney. GD must be a real pain. I use pg as an excuse to eat what I want when I want - must be really hard to control that. Good luck with scan.

Have decided to try and do pelvic floor excercises while on MN - feel less guilty about spending so much time on it! Having said that, I find it really hard to do do them and concentrate on something else at the same time. Have done almost none so far this pregnancy - anyone else as lazy as me?

Sorry for all with SDP. Not suffering with that thank goodness, but terrible back ache. I guess a trip to a chiropractor would be a good idea.

EEC · 13/03/2008 08:54

Bump called Hanni, as we both like the name, but think we can't call a boy Hans, and not so keen on Hannah for a girl so are just calling it that for now. DD and DS were both Hanni too!

Shouldn't ask really as decided we didn't want opinions on names chosen, but do you think Yann is terrible for a boy? We're finding it hard to tell as here in Brittany it's quite common.
