hubarbspong
My DH does read over my shoulders sometimes and I keep him abreast of what is happening but I don't think he's ever going to be brave enough to post on MN.
Can't comment on NCT classes as last time I just went with the ones run at my local surgery by the community midwives. Met some great people there including old friends from school whom I'd lost contact with. We kept in touch and still have our 'fat club' meetings every so often, and meet up for meals/days out etc.

minipinkscottish · 27/02/2008 20:18

Poledra - just wanted to say that I'm thinking of you! Everyone on thread was fantastic with me when I was going through hell after blood test results so I hope you also find some comfort here!!

Hi all!! xx made decision about maternity leave....I finish on 6th June and that gives me 4 weeks before schools finish here and 6 weeks before baby comes!! Count down!!!

sweetkitty · 27/02/2008 20:43

Evening all just sitting down to a lovely cup of tea and a few biscuits, speaking of which I weighed myself today, remember about 2 weeks back I was saying "oh I've only put on 3lbs so far" well I've put on 11lbs now although can't say I'm surprised the amount I have been eating. Apparently a good way to tell whether it's normal weight or baby is to measure your thighs, if they still measure the same it's baby. This one is definitely following a DD2 bump so far.

Libralady - thanks for updating the list we are about evens boys to girls so far. PS hope your cold gets better soon

hubarbspong - my DP according to himself is an expert in all things baby having seen two being born up close he thinks he is an expert

Cass - congrats on your scan and all being well, will keep fingers crossed your placenta gets out the way I think most of them do move up, I'm a little you know your due date already, I would love to know the date would make things a lot easier especially having LOs already and DP could book his paternity leave. I've had one 15 days early and one 12 days late so it could really be anytime in a month which means you cannot really plan anything. I have got the 24th July stamped in my brain as come what may I WILL have a baby on or before that date!

Minkus - great news about your scan as well (so exciting in here right now) bet you go mad with pink now MWs do that so often scare you silly then a few weeks later you find out everything is fine. Same with baby size had a friend who was big throughout her pregnancy got told she was having a 10lber better to book a section she was terrified, anyway out popped a 7 1/2lb little thing. I was told DD2 was 7lbs (9lbs 3ozs)!

poledra - glad you are feeling a bit better

isaidno - congrats on the buggy saw one today (in black) cranberry much nicer, forgot you are supposed to buy a new cot mattress as well.

hello all and welcome new folk...
tired and emotional today
scan went well and my lovely baby is all well and good and scan date exact
dp tld sonographer before we started that we did not want to know
she was lovely but once she found out it was number 6 she went all interested in what we had. I felt that she then seemed to feel sorry for us and went all sweet not charging us for pic
i will love the baby whatever and worship my ds's but just feeling selfish and sorry for self tonight

sorry to spill its so selfish

sweetkitty · 27/02/2008 21:00

Paula - I don't think it is, I know we will all love whatever we have but it's only human nature to want something we don't have. I don't think you are selfish at all. Don't beat yourself up.

Thepuddingchef · 27/02/2008 21:19

Hi Minkus: re: the uterus size - haven't a clue, wasn't given a reason really, just a list of possibles, but the scan showed she was a perfect size, so not worried now. Midwife only told me because she was unable to find heartbeat on 2 consecutive occasions, and I suppose was preparing me for the worst.

JODIEhavingababy · 27/02/2008 21:28

Hi Guys,

Just a quick post tonight, am hoping for an early night as have to be up at 3.30 to get to the airport

Just wanted to say congrats to everyone who have had their scans already, and I'll 'speak' to you all from sunny Spain over the next week or so.....

libralady · 27/02/2008 21:33

Have a fab time Jodie

libralady · 27/02/2008 21:41

Reading SK's post about weight gain I don't know whether to be worried or not after my appointment on Monday. No one seemed bothered by it at the hospital but I'm still 1/2 stone lighter than before I started this pregnancy .
Exactely the same thing happened last time. I started off a size 18 and by the end of my pregnancy I was a 14 and the day after giving birth I was back in my pre-pregnancy jeans. I only weighed 3lbs more at the end of the pregnancy and the next day I was immediately 1 1/2 stone lighter. Surprisingly I managed to keep the weight off and even lost some more. Even last week I was in my normal size 14 jeans when on holiday although 'bump' didn't really appreciate it by the end of the day and I found myself undoing the top button when driving home from a day out. DH reckons he can see a diffrence in my bump after a week away from him. Even worked commented on how I'd expanded when I went back on Monday!
Maybe if I have 6 kids I may get down to a size 8. LOL

morre · 27/02/2008 21:58

You are so lucky! I am still lighter than the beginning of my pregnancy! I think maybe the baby burns up lots of our energy? And I am thankful for it, although I bet I will pile on the pounds at the end!

bebejones · 27/02/2008 22:00

Hi all! Just been catching up with everyone's updates...went back to work yesterday and was so knackered when I got home I went straight to bed!

My Downs Screen results came back today....low risk, so am feeling really relieved! Just counting down to 'The Scan' now, 2 weeks tomorrow! Eeeek!

Have got DH to take a picture of bump (he has managed to cut my head off), so will try and put it on my profile asap! Got an invite to a friends baby shower, DH and I are going to be Godparents and she knows she is having a boy, going shopping for gifts after payday.......look out Mothercare!

Bought my first maternity clothes after work yesterday. This was after I put my trousers on in the morning and found I had to roll waistband down to under bump! Just got a smart pair of trousers and a top for work, found the choice available for work gear really depressing! Does anyone have any good suggestions for relatively inexpensive maternity clothes places? I'm usually a size 16/18...on account of my ample breastage and sizeable rear!!!!!

Libralady - I am also half a stone lighter than when I started but lost 17lbs in the first 5/6 weeks due to sickness!

Sorry for the long boring ramble, just felt the need after so long (day and a half!)without MN, very bizarre how it is so addictive!

sweetkitty · 27/02/2008 22:07

Sorry didn't mean to worry anyone about weight gain, I think it's so individual, I definitely don't gain evenly it's little spurts. Your shape and weight before getting pregnant can alter your weight gain considerably too all that matters at the end of the day is we all have healthy happy babies. We will worry about weight on another thread in oh about a year.

Hi guys!

Morning! Trying furiously to catch up -

hubarbspong - I've booked NCT, just intensive course though as all others booked up till gone Aug!

Polendra - hope you feeling better.

Minipink - I'm doing about the same, can't wait for a little me time (i.e. finihs painting the mural I bet I never get round to!)

Paula, Cass and Mink - congrats on scans, Minkus I am HUGE already but hoping little man won't break my pelvis

SK, Libra - I've put on a stone and a half I think but mainly on my jelly belly - though my legs have staretd to look rather chubby

Jodie - have fun!

Bebe - yay on low risk!

Been looking at cots now (not buying Pram till we sort out car but prob going for Quinny)... What cots have people got/going to get? Some are so expensive!

Have a great day x

MrsHOP · 28/02/2008 10:45

Morning all, had a crappy nights sleep
this might be me being a paranoid first-timer, but I keep waking up on my stomach, despite trying to sleep on my left, am I squashing baby if I sleep on my stomach?!

Last time I weighed myself (last week I think) I had put on about half a stone - my mum said that is hardly anything but it feels like a lot! Must remember to weigh myself tonight.

Yoga tonight, hopefully that will help me sleep!

Hope everyone well xx

morre · 28/02/2008 10:48

Mornig all,

MrsHop - I still end sleeping on my belly too, although I try to squeeze a cushion in between which always ends up on the floor. For some reason I wake up every night round 4am and no way getting back to sleep after that, anyone else got this??

isaidno · 28/02/2008 10:57

NIkNak - cots - one with a dropside is best because it is really hard to reach down to the baby if the sides are fixed. The mattress is more important to spend money on than the cage bit!

Cot beds take up more space, and are only useful if you plan on having one child, or big gaps between children. I know lots of people who never used it as a bed because there was a new baby who needed it as a cot.

I have only had second hand cots, but always bought new mattress.

Well another rough night last night, DD2 again ended up in with me at 6 this morning. Then I went to wake DD1 up sat on the edge of her bed and it broke I knwo I've put on weight but still. Have sat on it loads, usually just balance bum cheeks on it IYSWIM.

So that leads me on to cots. DD2 currently has a bedside cot as her cot so she is getting evicted from that was going to buy her a new bed or DD1 a new bed but it loks like we will need 2 beds now. Am thinking of getting bunk bed and keeping them separate for now then putting them together when they start to share a room. Our bedside cot wasn't that expensive think about £140 for cot and mattress and I loved the bedside bit kind of an extension to your bed but keeps baby close too. It's a Cosatto can't remember where I got it from.

MrsHop - I'm the same keep waking up on my stomach think I must be squashing the baby. I'm sure there comes a time when you just can't sleep on your stomach anymore. Sure it will be fine.

There was a woman at toddlers today and she has 2 weeks to go and she is huge. Thought I was getting big until I saw her, it's scary to think we will be that big in a few months.

Afternoon all,
Sweetkitty argos had some bunk beds on a special offer when i was in the other day the kind you can seperate.Might be some use???

Welcome to all the newbies

Twinkle

RUMPEL · 28/02/2008 13:27

Hi All,

TWINKLE - you must be really uncomfy - poor you. Hope the appt goes well.

RE COTS - I bought really good cotbed off of ebay but we just bought DD an Ikea littlie bed at the weekend as we need the cot for newbie now! I am going to satrt her off in by putting her in it for her daytime nap (she is 17 months next week) and take it form there.

I have put on 4lbs now - back on the chocolate again - toffee crisps and double deckers form the fridge. Just my boobs and my bump so far still the same elswhere - but I put loads on with DD straight away so I am assuming that I'll probably pout it on at the end too.

POLENDRA - thanks for the info - I adore/am fascinated by human anatomy and physiology so never TMI for me. I am positive everyhting will turn out well for you - sending beanie good vibes.xx

SWEETKITTY - I reckon that's when I'll go too - 24th July. My Mum is coming down for 2 weeks on the 16th July to help - thank goodness.

Well am off to rest a DD is asleep and I have headache/nosebleed congestion and feel hellish - again- today!

Take care allXXXX

isaidno · 28/02/2008 14:47

poor Twinkle - it must be scary to think how huge you might get. I think we need a picture on your profile!

Minkus · 28/02/2008 15:50

Hello everyone

re: cots, ds was in his from 6 months (we squished him into his moses basket in our room until then ) and he used it up until 2.10 so we got quite good value out of it I think. Just a standard one from Ikea, didn't have drop sides or anything but at about £60 it was a good bargain.

My tum is really hurting today, quite low down under my bump on the left side. Similar feeling to when I ovulate so I know it can't be that! Maybe the baby has its foot lodged against my ovary or something. Little blighter

Sickness has abated a bit, so went in to work to drop some bits off this morning. Was nice to see everyone and they were lovely to me, thankfully I didn't need to be sick whilst I was there- that would have been soooo embarrassing. Am struggling to eat at the moment, my appetite has disappeared although I really want tart sour things, like horseradish or tartar sauce, vinegar/soy that sort of thing. Although I think it would probably just make me puke if I did! Wierd. Anyone else been able to find the thing that satisfies the craving feeling yet?

NikNakF · 28/02/2008 16:52

Am I the only one who looks about 7 mths preg and expecting one baby only? I have put on loads of weight but all on belly but scan shows he's normal size (apart from those long legs of his dad's)...

purplejennyrose · 28/02/2008 18:15

Well had my scan and all is well - and it's another little girl!! My poor DH will be out numbered now - hee hee!
Bebejones - H+M usually good for cheap mat clothes and baby things.
NCT - we did this first time - pricey but worth it espec as still all meet up - three of us now having 2nd babies together! Good content and nice that they include Dads too (NHS don't here) but wouldn't do it again - not just cost, quite geared to first time parents - sorry if that sounds patronising!
