Kaz1967 · 25/02/2008 04:28

Hiya another one due in July Bump is due 18th

Food wise I went through a satsuma stage just before Christmas, and I want to eat salad all the time but over recent weeks I have had real cravings for salt and vinegar crisps, chips..... Salted nuts and peanut butter this last week it has also been chocolate I am really not a chocolate or a chips lover normally esp as potatoes make me itch

JODIEhavingababy · 25/02/2008 08:15

Morning all, and welsome MORE newcomers! There is a long list a few pages back with all our details (due date, previous children etc), feel free to cut and paste to add yourself! And KAS1967 Thats got to be one of the funniest thing! Potatoes making you itch????

Had such a terrible nights sleep last night, DS has a cough and cold, he went down fine at 7.30, but woke at 10, 12, 1.30 then finally at 4.30 and didn't go back to sleep! I'm shattered! Luckily he's at nursery today, but I have to get some work done.. Might knock off abit early and have an hour before I pick him up! Please someone remind me why I'm doing this AGAIN!

sweetkitty · 25/02/2008 08:57

Must be something in the water, DD1 not well today either. Had a terrible night with her and it wasn't until about the 7th wakening that I noticed she was burning up so took her into bed with me (unfortunately she only has a toddler bed so couldn't kick DP out and DD1 is like a limpet to me so I was sweating too, can't send her to nursery and don't think we will make our Monday lunch date either, have given her Ibuprofen and will Calpol in a few hours too.

Have finally discussed scans and made a decision with DP, we are going to try and find out this Saturday a basic 2D sexing scan. We decided not to go for the anomoly scan in the end, what will be will be. Am still scared about finding out the sex, I am so certain it's one way that I will be shocked if it's anotehr IYSWIM.

Hips and whole pelvis were killing me last night as well.

Hello to all the newbies and oldies alike, remember to add yourselves to the list and also what flavour you are having.

Congratulations, cheekster. I do remember you and its so great that you are here! That was a really long paranoid lurk you did there . . .

NikNakF · 25/02/2008 10:19

Good morning all,

Hi to newbies.

Sweetkitty sorry about pain, poor you. Just started osteopathy for my back, second session tomorrow and can't wait!

Looked at prams and cars over the weekend (on net) and ouch anyone else planning bankruptcy?

Minkus · 25/02/2008 11:36

Welcome to tafftaff and Kaz1967, have you both reached the 20 week mark yet? Have you had scans or no- do tell us whether you've found out whether babies are boys or girls. Think most on here have decided to find out (a few of us still waiting for surprises at the very end!)

Are some of us having scans this week? Sure some of you have said you were...

DS is at nursery today, quite glad as although I have managed not to be sick today hurrah I feel really tired after puking all weekend. House is an absolute tip, bit narked that yesterday dh did nothing at all (not even load the dishwasher!) and has left it all for me. And it was my blimmin birthday fgs! And I was in bed all day being sick! And... and... and... yes I'm having a good old whine now

I need some motivation to get on with the housework, also have the European Washing Mountain in our bedroom so washing machine should be on all day, fat chance of that with MN to play with Think I will go and find the Good Housekeeping thread to try and buck my ideas up a bit.

Have a good day all x

EEC · 25/02/2008 13:04

Poor you Minkus. Why don't you go on strike?

Got my scan on Wed. I'm not going to find out (at least that's what I say now!)

I've got constant back ache too - What's best, an osteopath or a chiropractor?

Only 19 weeks 6 days to go (give or take a couple of weeks...)

bebejones · 25/02/2008 13:05

Am exhausted after an entirely sport filled weekend! DH is a spurs fan and we went to his brothers (an hours drive away and DH doesnt drive) to watch the cup final. Subsequently, what with that and the non stop rugby on Saturday we have done NOTHING round the house all weekend and the place is a complete tip! Starting to get a bit narked about the fact that DH complains about the stack of washing up....but never does it himself! Granted I am at home but have been so sick that washing up and housework have been the last things on my mind! He's even been getting stroppy about me not doing the cats litter tray....but Im not risking the baby's health with that one! Grrrrrrrrr MEN! Sorry, rant over!

On the plus side, managed to convince the doctor to sign me back on for work, and have been sick ever since I saw her at 9am Statutory Sick Pay SUCKS! Really disgusted with how little it is, DH and I have had to borrow money off my mum to pay the mortgage last month, something we both really didnt want to do! So although I dont feel 100% I need to go back to work, not least because if I watch anymore daytime TV I think I will have to be sectioned! At least work are understanding (BIG boss is my father in law!) and I dont really have a taxing or active job! Cant wait til LO is here and I can start thinking about doing something I like rather than something to pay the bills!

Sorry this has turned into a long one! Hope everyone had a good weekend, and didn't 'suffer' with the sport as well!

RUMPEL · 25/02/2008 13:35

Hi All,

SOO hard to keep up with everyone now!

Been feeling hellish as usual, although managed out to buy new bed for DD on Saturday (need cot for newbie).

RE BRAS - I bought M&S last time DH treated me to this on Valentines

www.becheeky.com/acatalog/Cherry_Bomb_Chic_Bra__Brief_and_Knicker_by_HOTmilk.html

It is very comfy and stretchy so will fit hopefuly until the end. You can bouy bra extenders in LA SENZA to give extra width on your back - keeps you going until you are nearer your final size. I went form 34C to 38DD last time. This time I have gone form 34B (breastfeeding shrinkage to 38C at the mo'. Will probably juts go up to D this time - I cannot bear anything tight around my ribs though so end up wheeking bra off in the evening. Last time I slept in vest/bra tops but not this time - need comfort too much.

RE OSTEOPATH/CHIROPRACTOR - you need to make sure they are experienced in treating pg ladies. Your ligaments are very stretchy so they can damage you if they haven't got experience. I went for an osteo treatemtn when DD was 4 months old and ended up in hospital with a suspected blood clot on my lung - it wasn't though. It was pain caused by a reaction to the treatment - my connective tissue had retracted and I was having problems breathing/expanding my ribcage. Just make sure you ask for qaulifications, insurance, experience etc - better to go to someone who specialises.

RE REFLEXOLOGY - properly trained beauty therapists will be able to treat you after 3 months with reflexology. Not all BT choose reflexology as a unit so not all are qulaified in it, however, if they are they can treat you. Again though - you want to know when/where qualified (ask to see qualifications) insurance/experience etc.
Unfortunately there is alot of snobbery involved in this industry these days - Holistic therapist v beauty therapist v comp therapist!!

RE LIGAMENTS/SPD - Mine didn't go until DD was 6 months old! Don't have it so far this time - thank goodness and sympathies to those of you who do.

HEADACHES - yep get them loads - usually sinus related. Your mucous membranes swell in pg and produce more mucous causing discharge/sinusitis/headaches/catarrh. Dairy produce and orange juice promote catarrh so best avoid too much.

I got bad carpal tunnel last time and it is rearing it's ugly head again! Been taking my acubands off at night to relieve pressure on wrist area.

THRUSH - take acidophillus lactibacollus tabs (get them in Boots or Holland and Barret) - restore good gut bacteria so help to keep thrush at bay and try to go knickerless if you can. It's is because the PH balance in your downstairs dept has changed and it always so wet down there when pg TMI sorry!! Also try massaging natural yogurt into the area - are you getting it on the outside (lips and area all swollen, itchy red?) or is it more internal? Avoid using bath products/shower gels etc and just use a soap like Simple. Avoid nylon knicks and tights. Try to avoid too much yeast/sugar in diet if possible.

Hope all is wellxxx

Mammoth post off to rest as up most last night with DD who is now asleep so will take advantage of it!

RUMPEL · 25/02/2008 13:37

MINKUS - happy birthday - a nice massage/facial/hairdo/treatment would be my present of choice! Although maybe you should leave all the housework until DH gets home and get him to do that for your birthday

Monkey24 · 25/02/2008 14:13

Hello all

This is my first time!

Can I be added to the list - due 21st July, first baby, live in the Bristol area.

Minkus · 25/02/2008 14:17

hehe bebejones do you think we are married to the same man? Spurs fan too!

Oooh RUMPEL that's a good idea- although I have just been a good girl and done the dishwasher so everything else is not looking quite so bad now Will go and have lunch as a treat, don't really fancy anything though

Minkus · 25/02/2008 14:18

Ah ha - that is how it works! Thanks, Minkus.

I have my 20 week scan next week and I'm SO EXCITED I could burst. We will also be finding out....

bebejones · 25/02/2008 15:25

Welcome Monkey24! I live nearish to Bristol (Between Bristol & Gloucester!)

So envious of people who have their 20week scans so soon, mine isn't until March 13th and that seems like forever away!!

Minkus - Was just glad DH has given up alcohol (trying to lose weight!) or the weekend could have got VERY messy!! Does your DH leave you all the washing up as well? Think mine wants to be married in the 1950's!!

Just had to go and tell off my littlest cat for knocking the box of cat treats all over the floor! It's all kicked off now...big growl-fest going on downstairs!! The older 2 HATE him! Won't miss this when I go back to work, although I am dreading going back! Hate my job so much, so although being around people and not stuck in the house will be nice, I do find it so tedious and uncreative!! Plus it's all so political, cant stand the bitching!......sorry, ranting agin!

nannyjo · 25/02/2008 15:29

I had my scan!! I've got 2 boys and would have loved a girl but no it seems i only make boys as number tthree was CLEARLY another boy!!!

All is well though which is what matters. DH is looking to strat a football team (even if it was a girl i'm sure she would've been able to join )

Minkus · 25/02/2008 15:39

Well done nannyjo! Healthy baby how lovely. As long as your dh doesn't expect you to wash all the muddy kit let him have his little dreams

bebejones dh was off the booze too as he was running a half marathon on Sunday and looked after our ds afterwards (they watched the footie together) so I could sleep- ahhh maybe thats why he didn't load the diswasher...

Hope I haven't missed anyone off, if I have feel free to add yourself.

So who's having scans this week?

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 25/02/2008 16:03

I have just booked mine for this Saturday, basic 2D sexing scan although according to DD1 the "man" is going to tell us it's a girl!

OP posts:
Monkey24 · 25/02/2008 16:07

Has anyone had any weird moments where people have told them that they are having a certain sex baby and they aren't basing it on size of belly?

My belly is tiny, and I want it to be bigger. Is everyone clearly showing?

bebejones · 25/02/2008 16:10

I think I just look fat! But DH assures me I look pregnant, in my paranoid pregnant state I cant tell if he is being nice or if I actually do!

sweetkitty · 25/02/2008 16:12

Monkey - all the time, old woves tale the way you carry a baby can tell you the sex, apparently all out front is a boy and all round including getting a bigger bum and hips is a girl.

I have had 2 girls and carried them both completely different. Also your general shape determines how you carry, if you are tall and thin you will show less than a smaller person as you have more room for the baby to grow. I wouldn't worry too much about not showing yet, with first pregnancies you tend to have more toned stomach muscles so show a bit later.

It's a bit of a national obsession commenting on pregnant womens bump sizes, even complete strangers do it, I have had "oh your so neat" to "oh your HUGE"

OP posts:
babyontheway · 25/02/2008 16:23

monkey24-Hi there glad I'm not the only new one here!

nannyjo-oh my god twin boys! you are going to be so busy!

My scan is not till 07march, I am sooo excited I think i'm going to explode or something before then ! We both really want to know if it's a boy or a girl.

Everyone else sounds like most of us are married to the same man mine did nothing all day sunday except watch me run round getting everything ready for the week anyway have decide I am going on strike now! Anything that needs doing he can do it for himself this week.

On a happy note baby is kicking loads at moment only problem is whenever DH goes anywhere near it it stops! nevermind.

babyontheway · 25/02/2008 16:29

oh can I be added to the list as well please due on 18jul 1 DS 10
Thanks
