Hi cheekster GREAT NEWS!!!! Congratulations!!!!!

How long are people who work intending to keep going? I was intending to work till 37 wks and finish at end of June but I am feeling so tired and BIG already I can't see me making it...it's so crap that the time you take off before reduces the time you can have after! I get 26 weeks full pay which i know is good but not long enough when you have a little one

xxx

isaidno · 24/02/2008 07:40

Morning!

Scottish - I only work 8 hours a week, so have to claim maternity allowance, not smp. Got the forms the other day and it looks like I will have to try to work until mid June to get as much money as possible. Work are quite happy to let me carry on as long as I can. Would have liked to finish end of June though.

kitty - glad to hear you got some clothes. I've got loads of mat clothes really, but I refuse to look like a bag lady just because I am pg! And maternity stuff has a pretty good resale on ebay so I should get some money back..

beepbeep · 24/02/2008 07:54

Morning all,

Did aqua natal yesterday, told instructer about spd (she's a physio) and she stopped me from doing certain things - I wasn't in pain last night - yippee!! DH had DD for morning, then fater swimming I was shattered, so he had her for afternoon too and I slept for 4 hours! Just got up after another 9 - keep telling myslef i must have needed it and not just lazy!

Sweetkitty - we're getting the P&T from baby-warehouse. they have a shop near Oxford which is opening again after the floods in a couple of weeks, but they have a website -are pretty competitive. I'm also thinking of swapping for the black or charcoal one now!

Wanted to go to babyshow next weekend but my parents are going to south coast for weekend and invited us down. Only realised it was mothersday weekend a couple of weeks ago. We didn't see my mum on the day last year. How niave i was to think she was just being thoughtful!!!!

My darling little monke is now emptying a plant of compost so better go.
NikNak - i thought about a mural, but a previous attempt was pretty crap! So being looking at the big stickers you can get. Some of the huge ones which cover a whole wall look pretty good, but think i prefer the smaller ones you can arrange how you like.

Mummywannabe · 24/02/2008 08:43

Morning all, why can't i sleep in!!

Minipinkscottish - i'm planning to work to end of may 34 weeks, taking 2 weeks annual leave and then maternity. Get nothing other than SMP so gonna be a tight 9 months while i'm off as i'm earn more than DH. He tells me it makes sense for him to stay off and me to work, which is does but i can't do it!

bump has grown lots over last few days so maybe that why ive been uncomfortable. Hips better though!

DH not felt baby yet, i'm convinced that you can feel it from the outside but guess its hard to tell as i can feel it inside too!

Welcome to cheekster and babyontheway!

Minkus · 24/02/2008 09:07

Morning all, lots been going on since I last checked in!

Hello babyontheway, we're a friendly bunch and it's nice to have another mum to be on the growing list.

Well it's my birthday today, 32 woohoo! DS gave me a lovely hat and a pretty necklace, and dh has ordered me a beautiful leather weekend bag that I can use for hospital/labour as well as promising me a night away in a posh hotel when I'm feeling a bit better! So feeling a very lucky lady today.

Although I have really struggled with sickness the last few days and even woke up three times in the night to be sick All of us were going out for a nice lunch today but will give it a miss now as can't eat/drink a thing apart from mints and ice cold squash (and that comes back up again). Might see if I dh would mind me going back to bed for a while, he's gone out for a run at the mo but when he gets back at 11 I don't think he can complain really, it IS my birthday after all!

Have a good day all x

Minkus · 24/02/2008 09:09

Sorry hello to Cheekster too- congratulations, glad things are starting to be a bit more relaxed for you!

pigleychez · 24/02/2008 09:16

Welcome aboard cheekster and babyontheway!

I too have been awake early today- since about 7.45am..... far too early!
My own fault though as i forgot to pull the black out blind down last night which means the daylight streams in waking us up. A DEFINATE must buy for the babys room too!

Feeling much better and happier now as my pains have subsided alot.Just the sharp pains when moving as apposed to being in constant pain and even hurting to walk! Hopefully work will be ok on monday as i was dreading to think how id manage!

Im intending to leave 15th May. Thats 6 weeks before then 2 weeks holiday before.(about 32 weeks)
Already counting the days. Luckily i have lots of holiday to take before I go which helps. Just had a week off, now have 2.5 weeks of work before i have another week and a half off in March.
[Grin]
not that i dont like my job!!!!!!

pigleychez · 24/02/2008 09:18

Xposted with Minkus-

Happy Birthday Lady!!!!!

Have a great day !

Mummywannabe · 24/02/2008 09:28

Hapy birthday minkus!

Pigleychez - when you go back to work avoid the childrens chairs if you can, if i sit on these it not only makes bump uncomfortable but makes hips throb. Know you said you boss is not too understanding but you could add pelvic pain to your risk assessment then an alternative seat would have to be provided. I find being on the floor a bit easier than the chairs. My office is on the first floor and i'm up and down the stairs all day, even to just answer front door as everyone else seems to not hear it! Not great for my hips, gonna close office door i think so i'm ignorant to the doll bell ringing!

pigleychez · 24/02/2008 09:50

Mummywannabe-

Risk assessment!!??? What one of them!!

Havent had anything like that at all!

beepbeep · 24/02/2008 10:10

My work are pretty un sympathetic as well, a risk assessment was done right at the beginning, but nothing that was highlighted has been acted upon. Think it's def just done so they can say they've done one. Since being pregnant, not been given any responsibility or work to do, so sit in office all day twiddling my things while rest of my team (who i never see any more) are out doing things that there's no reason that i can't do. Have raised the issue with my supervisor who seemed very understanding (ish!) at the time, but has subsequently not changed a thing! Feel like i'm there on work experience - making cups of tea and a bit of filing! Not quite what my job should be.

Hope to finish at beginning of June (be 35wks) but last time i got signed off early because my blood pressure was up a bit and i think i'd moaned so much to my MW about how bad my work environment was that they thought best to get me out of it. Hopin it'll happen the same again this time!

isaidno · 24/02/2008 10:22

Happy Birthday Minkus!

sweetkitty · 24/02/2008 10:39

Happy Sunday everyone it is actually sunny here today

Hello cheekster and congratulations, I so know what you mean about not believing you are pregnant even after the scans, it's only been in the past week or so I have actually thought about the baby as I feel it moving a lot now and it seems to be on a growth suprt as I suddenly have a bump.

DP wants us to go for the scan in a fortnight which was the due date for the baby I lost it just doesn't feel right, he says it will be a sad day anyway so why not make it happy and all the mroe reason to go but I don't know.

Minkus - Happy Birthday I'm 32 too sorry you aren't feeling up to celebrating much, you have had such a hard time of it was time you had a break from it.

beepbeep - thanks will have a look at babywarehouse

pigley - glad you are feeling a bit better today, take it easy at work tomorrow and sod your boss, if you had normal back pain or something you wouldn't be doing a lot, don't feel obliged just because you are pregnant. Remember your body is softening up in preparation and it will take a lot out of you.

hello to everyone else x

EEC · 24/02/2008 10:59

Hello All. Have been away for a week - what a lot to catch up on. Talk about MN being addictive. I have been on it for ages even though I still have unpacked bags, and loads to do as need to sort, wash and repack as am coming to UK tomorrow for mw appointment and scan. Can't wait but v nervous. I've still had very little movement so hoping for reassurance.

My bump is sometimes rock hard (like a mini Braxton hicks contraction) and sometimes very soft like big fat belly. Anyone elses vary like that.

Also have very itchy lower legs. Do I need to worry? Had v swollen ankles last night too, which I've never had before, but am putting it down to a 10 hour drive from Alps to Brittany. Holiday was fun, despite raging jealousy at everyone else skiing. DC's had a fab time, and were going down red runs by end of the week, never having skied before (proud mum moment!).

Next week very busy withs scans etc and trying to sort out schools for when we move back to England in April. Trying not to get stressed. So much to do. All our things in England are in boxes, and house is a building site - muck everywhere, and no kitchen yet... I wish we only had a nursery to decorate! Got the whole house. HELP!

"0 weeks today. Horray

EEC · 24/02/2008 11:00

I meant 20 weeks!

pigleychez · 24/02/2008 11:15

My little sister has been visiting whos 27 weeks, so its nice to share thoughts and feelings together.
Just added a photo of both of us together on my profile page

isaidno · 24/02/2008 12:10

nice pic!

Heffa · 24/02/2008 14:24

Minipinkscottish - I'm working up until the end of May I think, but then I'm taking all my holiday that's owing and starting maternity leave proper a couple of weeks before my due date.

Happy birthday Minkus!

JODIEhavingababy · 24/02/2008 16:02

Afternoon everyone and welcome newcomers! There will be so many of us by the time July rolls around!

ISAIDNO Where did you get the forms from for the Maternity Allowance? I'm self employed so I will bneed to look into that as I won't get SMP either.

And as I'm self employed (great normally) It does mean I've got to work until the bitter end and then start up again straight away! Hopefully DB will be a good quiet one!

How is everyone feeling now? I'm OK just mega p**D off at DH, He went out THursday and Friday night, and then coz of the rugby was out last night AGAIN, then DS has been playing up all morning (just tired) he asked if he could go out this afternoon, and then sulked when I said that he could, but me and DS had to come to, (DS not in a sociable mood today) so that really was a no! I hate that he can just pop to the pub on his own and it doesn't matter, there is always someone there who he can talk to, but I have to arrange a night out or an afternoon off!

Sorry, rant over!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINKUS

carrieHD9 · 24/02/2008 16:35

Hi everyone, goodness there's loads of us due in July now!

Have a very daft question for you all who've done this already... at what point do you get stretch marks??!?! As you're expanding, once you've expanded, or post baby when you're deflating?? I haven't got any so far so just wondering if I'm really lucky as I've stretched a fair bit I think? Or do you get them much further on when you're at your biggest?

Minkus · 24/02/2008 17:40

hi everyone

carrie i have lots of stretch marks from this pg already, but only got them in the last few weeks with ds- and considering my skin has alread stretched to accommodate him I can't see why I've got new ones already now! Most upsetting.

Thanks all for birthday wishes, have been asleep for 4 hrs this afternoon. DH and ds went out for lunch with our neighbour and his little girl to give me a bit of peace and quiet, have been chucking for England again since I woke up though. Can't understand why it has come back all of a sudden, nothing has really changed. Maybe the baby is having a hormonal growth spurt!

Have a good evening al, dh is in an excellent mood as spurs are his team and they have just won the carling cup final (yawn)

x

tafftaff · 24/02/2008 19:33

Hi everyone,

I thought I would join in the MN fun! I'm due 17th July with my first baby...sorry, I don't know any of the abbreviations so this message is going to be in long hand! I have just moved to Yorkshire and therefore, have been using MN as my maternity bible. I recently had the joys of discovering spd (I think)...what a shock! So far the pregnancy has been a breeze with only wind and tiredness to contend with however, spd was something else!

Fortunately it has died down and all I am left with is an amazing bump that appeared out of nowhere! I have gone from looking fat to looking pregnant which is both exciting and scary at the same time as it has brought it home that I am actually having a baby!

Good luck all July mums.

isaidno · 24/02/2008 21:12

JODIE - you get the MA form from the jobcentre. You might be able to download it from the website which is www.dwp.gov.uk but basically there is a 13 week over a test period of earnings upon which the MA payment is based. I'm not sure I've read the instructions right, but it seems I can give them the info for the 13 weeks I've earned the most between 25 / 3 / 07 to 28 / 6 / 08. I might be able to leave sooner than I thought.

Poledra · 24/02/2008 21:59

Evening all
Popping in for a whine. DD2 has had the most terrible cold/fluey thing for a fortnight, featuring high temperatures, loss of appetite etc. She's over it, now DD1 has it, I have it (minus the high temp) and I'm knackered. Had DD1 sleeping with me last night while dh slept in her bed - not conducive to the best night's sleep (not really his fault - she wanted Mummy, not Daddy). Going to have to take the day off work tomorrow and am really too busy to do that.
BTW, am planning to work into June then take some holiday before mat leave starts at the beginning of July

purplejennyrose · 24/02/2008 22:54

Hi all
Haven't posted for ages it seems..
Have just had fabulous half term doing our garden and after flu etc feel almost normal again - just deaf in one ear!! - starting to enjoy this pregnancy especially as I can feel lots of movements in the evenings now!
Scan on Thurs and if poss am going to find out what it is!
Jocestar - sleeping on the left side has to do with the major veins / arteries in your body being up the right side, so not risking putting pressure on / constricting these - I think it just gets more relevant as you and baby get bigger. At least that's my understanding!
Hmm, risk assessment at work - I had one first time round, this time it seems to extend as far as being told to keep out of the way when a couple of our 'challenging' chidren at school decide to start kicking and punching...
I only have another 8 weeks total before I go off though!!
Sympathy and best wishes to all those with back pain and SPD.
