Hi dizzydixie - Just posted on other thread too!! Aching a bit and dreaming of sunshine and strawbery tarts - sorry all Dundee thread picnic plans!!

baby3 · 22/02/2008 21:43

Hi everyone! it's been ages since i've written but I have been keeping up with the chat. just didn't feel well enough to join in the banter until the last week, but feel loads better now although have cold and sore throat and earache now! Sorry to hear some of you are still feeling sick... i'll keep my fingers crossed it goes soon for you. I had my scan today and all went well, it was just so nice to see the baby on the screen and the kids really enjoyed it too (although they wanted to find out the sex and we said no... think they're happy enough to keep guessing for now!)

Morning all.
Been up for hours, combination of wriggling baby and strange crampy feeling in tummy that passed in a few minutes but scared me so i got up!

isaidno · 23/02/2008 08:01

had a terrible night's sleep here. I've been really thirsty over the past few nights; have to keep waking up to drink some water, then I have to get up to go for a wee! While I am awake I remember how itchy I am, in non specific places - the itch moves - so I have to have a scratch.

So, this morning I am knackered.

Grumble over. Now some advice please...

I need to decorate the nursery because it is tired and tatty. At the moment it is green and yellow. I know I'm having a girl and want to paint it pink. Yesterday I went to the wallpaper shop to look at borders, and found one I really like. But it's £12 a roll. I will need 2 rolls and there is £5 carriage charge because it is a special order design.

So, is £29 too much for a very lovely bit of border? The border has pink, green and yellow in it so I will be able to keep the curtains, and my yellow / green bedding. I am only going to need to spend £10 / £15 on paint on top of that.

What do you think?

Mummywannabe · 23/02/2008 08:04

Isaidno - i'm not the best person to ask cause i'm toying with this one myself! I would say go for it!

Sorry you had a bad night too!

isaidno · 23/02/2008 08:16

I think , when you consider I am saving the cost of new curtains £29 is a bargain. Wonder if DH will agree...

pigleychez · 23/02/2008 09:25

Isaidno- Go for it.
If you can use the curtains and bedding again, then you are saving money by not having to buy those again.

Another one here who had restless night. I like to move around it im sleep and change sides but now i have these ligament pains it hurts when i roll over, waking me up. And DH as he pointed out this morning!

Well my sister and her boyfriend are coming up to stay for the weekend. She is about 6/7 weeks ahead of me at about 26/7 weeks and due in May so i think we may be dragging the guys round some baby shops tomorrow.

beepbeep · 23/02/2008 09:40

Hi all. Have decided on a buggy!! Goinng for P&T Sport in Blue (is that too boyish - 1 DD and not sure what's coming!). Put in order yesterday so should have it at end of May. Quite excited - hope all goes well at 24 wk scan.

Went to cinema last night, was pretty uncomfortable as my back was aching, but to make things worse I think i've got thrush. never had it before but can't think what else it is. Anyone any idea what i can use, read that can't use canesten because of something it contains. Will try the pharmasist today.

Hi all new peeps!

sweetkitty · 23/02/2008 09:41

Morning all sorry some had a restless night, I had quite a good one only got wakened once by the cats. Off shopping in a bit by myself for a few hours peace and quiet. Also means I can try things on, am going to JL to look at baby wool to start my knitting and also may have to stop into Mothercare as well for a look.

I am having a bit of a dilemma/pregnant moment, I have an inkling of what sex this baby is and am already referring to it as X in my mind. Is it just a firm maternal feeling or am I setting myself up for a fall? Does that make sense? Last twice I have been so certain of the sex, the thought it might be the other one didn't even pop into my head, this time it's the same. Will I be disappointed it's not the sex I think it is? Sorry hormonal ramblings, how do people not want to know, I'm desperate to know, I'm so impatient though.

isaidno - sounds reasonable to me, I have never decorated a nursery for a baby though, honestly, when we lived in London we were selling the flat soon after she was born so we didn't bother then when it was DD2 on the way we didn't bother either. DD1 went into her own room at 15 months, DD2 was about 12, this one will be about 12 too so poor DD2 will be evicted in with her sister and the baby will get her room. I plan to make a big fuss of the two of them moving in together and won't move the baby in DD2's old room for a while afterwards. Going to have the DDs chose paint colours etc and redo that room (although in DD1's case it will still be pink) DD2's room is a beautiful little lilac room with Eeyore everything so depending on this one I mya have to change it as well.

Sorry am going away now, sorry for the ramblings.

Beep Beep - doctor best bet, some pharmacists relucant to sell over counter to pregnant people! Can recommend a product called bio-fem active gel can get it in boots. It won't clear up trush but is great at helping and can be used to prevent further bouts, safe to use in pregnancy. Used to get thrush alot (linked to pill) and this product kept me sane!

twinkle1 · 23/02/2008 10:53

Beep Beep, see the dr/pharmacist when you get chance, but in the meantime plain live natural yoghurt eaten and applied is very good.Depending on severity it sometimes will clear up by itself with just the yoghurt. Also we used to get canesten cream and vaginal pessarys perscribed by gp's,no contraindications.Dont take any oral treatments. Hope that helps
Twinkle

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 23/02/2008 12:55

sweetkitty - i too might nip out for a few hours peace

re the gender thing - i empathise completely as i did this last time...i did find out last time as i had convinced myslf it was one way and needed to know

i did get used to the idea

this time i will not let myself focus on gender - i am only choosing one sex names! too used to disappointment!

jocesar · 23/02/2008 13:21

Hi everyone, Just had my 20 wk scan- was really nervous before it as I haven't felt anything move yet and I haven't got a bump either. So very relieved to see a baby in my tummy with a beating heart! Everything is OK apparently and he's definately a boy! (DH very pround!). I feel great at the moment but not particularly pregnant. Have put on 10lbs so just look a bit fat!
Question. How important is it to sleep on your L side at night? I'm trying the pillow between legs thing, but always wake up on my back which I find very comfortable.
Another question- are you all using your gym balls to do exercises on or simply as an alternative seat?
Have a good weekend everyone, I'm off for a meal at River Cottage tomorrow- very excited about that- has anyone else been?

babyontheway · 23/02/2008 14:18

Wow just discovered mn! how cool that there are lots of other people out the going thru the same as me! This is my first message so it's just a quick hello! Well done to everyone with the wonderful scans it will be great when I have mine and I actually get to see if we are having a boy or a girl only two weeks to go!

bebejones · 23/02/2008 15:13

Afternoon everyone! Have come upstairs to escape the never ending sport that DH has had on the TV all day! (I think it's payback for me waking him up at 6:30) I also have been struggling with sleeping on my side, I end up with pins and needles in my arm which wakes me up, then I have to move, which hurts, and then I struggle getting back to sleep and usually have to go to the loo! Am thinking about getting a dreamgenii pillow, has anyone else used them, do they help? Have discovered that both myself and DH have a far less disturbed sleep now we have seperate duvets! I can sort of wedge mine under me and tuck it between my legs (tried pillows but they always ended up on the floor!).

Sweetkitty - am in the same situation re and inkling on sex! But is my first pregnancy so have no comparisons. I can't wait to find out, I need to be planned and well organised or will be a gibbering wreck (have suffered badly with anxiety since I was 14). Have a feeling that LO will not co-operate at scan and I will not be able to find out! I apparently had my legs crossed on all my scans and my mum says I reminded her of her beanbag frog!

Anyway, sorry for the long ramble! Just trying to stay out of the way while the rugby is on.....3 games today groan, and the last one doesnt finish til gone 10pm!!!

Heffa · 23/02/2008 16:04

I've spent the morning throwing up - very annoying as I thought I was past the sickness by now. Ah well.

How is everyone? Congratulations on a boy Jocesar! I've just bought a gymball and have been using it as a footrest . Should probably try some exercises on it when I'm feeling less lazy.

isaidno · 23/02/2008 18:59

jocesar - a boy is lovely!
babyontheway - welcome - add yourself to the list. It's further down somewhere.

sweetkitty - hope you managed to do some shopping. I went into Birmingham on the train with 2 DS and no pushchair - very brave, but it was fine! I got 2 nice cardigans from the next clearance shop. Not maternity, but they only have one button at the top so allow belly to stick out!

Re;gymball - mine is still deflated in the loft. I will get it out in a few weeks, until then I will make do with the DC's spacehopper

MrsHOP · 23/02/2008 19:07

hi everyone - thanks for the bra advice! Think I will head on down to M&S to get me boobs sorted.

pigley, I am a bit jealous of your thai honeymoon - we went for glastonbury and a fortnight in devon/dorset (we decided not to fly anywhere for a few years) - was really lovely but if you remember last June and how crap it was....I must admit I had a few pangs for cocktails on the beach!

I have been getting really bad headaches too - a friend said it might be yoghurt and I stopped eating it and they went away - might be a complete coincidence but I am not risking eating any more for the time being...

hello to all newbies and welcome, there must be tons of us now!

have a good w/e all xxx

NikNakF · 23/02/2008 20:14

Hi fellow preggars!

Hope you are having a good weekend. Just waiting for an Indian take-away which is great except oh I will pay for it with the indigestion! Never mind...

Hi newbies, you'll love it on here.

Beepbeep - cool on the pram, just spoke to someone today who said her cot from M&P took four months! Gonna start thinking about it

Heading to Baby Show next weekend, very excited. Anyone else going?

Jocesar - we're both having boys, congrats.

Oh my DH has said I can paint a mural, any tips? Seems like a fun thing to do.

MrsHop - Hope your boobs feel better soon

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 23/02/2008 20:27

niknak - i love murals if you are good

the house i have just bought the wife was an art teacher and the youngest son had a mural in his room

however if i were good at art ( ooh you are having a boy as well so perfect) I said to dp i would do a stylish white room with a very discreet and not over powering small image of something from this or if you are really talented the image in the book of the Brighton pavillions in the snow is so all encompassing and lovely! I always have grand schemes and am arty in all but ability!

sweetkitty · 23/02/2008 20:34

Evening all had successful day shopping bought some jeans (bargain £12) joggy bottoms and 3 nice tops all from New Look they had a great range and pretty reasonable too, still grudge buying maternity clothes for 4 1/2 months but needs must. Also bought some lovely cream wool which I am going to attempt to knit a cardigan with cab do basic cast on and off and knit and purl, bought a book as well looks really scary. DP says I am turning into a Gran, just a pity I can't knot and MN at the same time.

jocesar - congratulations on having a boy and all being well

beepbeep - where did you get your P&T from? I think I might get a black one and play it safe. Was in Mothercare today but they have stopped displaying them, they had loads of Bugaboo Bee's though I can't decide whether I like them or not, they seem really low down and plasticy, had a wee go of pushing one (as you do) and the carrycot seems so low down (and I'm only 5ft 3).

isaidno - wow you were brave shopping with no buggy, my gym ball still in loft as well (must nag DP)

bebejones - I had a very strong inkling first pregnancy I was about 95% sure of what we were having, if they had said boy I would have fallen off the table, DD2 about 90% but still very strong. I have the same feeling with this one as well.

hello to everyone else hope you are all having a lovely evening, I'm off to practice my knitting (this is what it has come to, knitting on a Saturday night, used to be all night raves!)

I just want to say a really big hi to sweetkitty, libralady, mcchesers, Tjuice and anyone else who I may have missed.

I hope you all remember me, you supported me so much on the TTC after MC thread. Well I am pleased to join you all - YES I am pg - I dare say it - and I am due in July too can you believe it. It is only now after 2 scans and the fact I can feel baby move (dh felt it yesterday too) that I dare get excited. Up until now I have been a bag of nerves.

I hope you are all well and getting fat!
