Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MommyD · 11/01/2005 14:22

Lolasmum - I work three days a week M-W. All a bit exhausting really. Being at home with the boys is more tiring though - and I have a reasonably stressful job!

hub2dee - I have had both my boys at the Royal Free. They are 1 and 2. My littlest was born at the time of the re-furb. The care I received with both boys was outstanding (pre re-furb). I think since the re-furb they are completely inundated. I can't get through to talk to anyone, I have not yet been booked in and it took ages to get my scan date. I have still not heard anything back from them about booking in and I am 12wks +1. Seriously under-staffed by the looks of it.

2:30pm is D-Day

hub2dee · 11/01/2005 15:02

MommyD: We had a load of grief trying to get our scan appointment. Dee called about four times and just got passed around.

Call the hospital switchboard, ask to be put through to the secretary to the Director of Midwives and just explain that you've got your scan date in a few days, but no booking in slot etc. etc. and could she have a look for you 'in the system'

Sometimes things just slip through the cracks and if you don't chase perhaps things don't happen. You certainly won't wait in the phone queue for 47 minutes on her direct line

FYI, we only got a call this AM for our booking in, so they may be calling you very soon anyway !

hoxtonchick · 11/01/2005 17:36

wow, this thread has gone mad today. welcome hub2dee. i am wearing a 24 hour blood pressure thing & have told dp he's not allowed to wind me up tonight.

i had quite a lot of headaches from about weeks 8-12 but they seem to have stopped now.

hub2dee · 11/01/2005 18:34

Thank you for the hellos from pinkmamma and hoxtonchick too.

Check this out for a vomit story:

Dee (my 11+6 wife) chucked up in the shower today

The funny thing was it wasn't even nausea / morning sickness ! She's been feeling v. tired and a bit rough at times but has been lucky enough not to actually throw up.

She was in the shower and apparently raised her head, some water went down her nose, and she gagged big time and then hurled on the shower floor, choking etc.

I had to laugh when she told me but suppose it could have been quite serious (I can't hear her downstairs when the shower is on and the bathroom door is closed).

Another funny story to brighten your day:

I came down one morning to find Dee sobbing. Fearing something major I enquired what was wrong.... apparently she had put some porridge in the microwave and overcooked it, causing the delicious splodge to boil over out of the bowl and onto the glass plate, and was just dreadfully upset at having spoilt breakfast.

Anyone else got any funnies ? Dee reads this with me and would love to hear from other teary crazies

Bagpuss30 · 12/01/2005 08:11

Blimey, what's happened here then? It's sooo busy here. Sorry I haven't been about much but we have a wireless mouse and dh didn't tell me that when the batteries were low you could swap them for normal ones and so I spent the whole of yesterday not going on MN because I thought the whole thing was going to break any minute .

Other than that not much to report here. Still no appointments till next week (16 week Bart's test). I'm now sure I can feel this baby moving about and I have been prodded about half a dozen times now over the last few days, so exciting, really takes my breath away .

Babydot, my last baby had a risk of 1 in Three hundred and seventy something without any scans and all was fine. We are lucky beacause we get to have a detailed heart scan because of ds and so that can quite often rule out anything linked to down's.

MommyD, I wasn't booked until 13 weeks which caused no end of probs when I went to see my consultant at the hospital at 12 weeks. All very annoying, just hope you can get yours sorted out soon.

Had some strange news on Monday. Some of you who were on TTC11 may remember that I was really worried about telling family about our news becase my sil wants another baby and I was worried about offending her. Well, sil has announced she's 5 weeks pg but that she thinks she's miscarrying. I am feeling rather sad about it all, especially as I went therough the same at 6/7 weeks and went to lengths not to tell people and get their hopes up etc. I am also feeling a bit cross that we've been told as we're not particularly close to them. My own mother said the words "stealing" and "thunder" spring to mind but I'm trying to not think unkind things and really hope it all turns out ok for sil. Apologies if you've got this far and don't know what I'm on about, but I really needed to get that off my chest.

Welcome hub2dee, I have lots of being sick stories I'm afraid and all very similar to your dw. I do have to be careful that I don't gag on anything or that's it for me. now I'm 15 weeks it has nearly stopped though fortunately.

AussieSim, hope you are feeling better btw .

Sorry if I've missed anyone out but I need to go and get kids ready so I can take ds to nursery. I'll be back later with my newly charged up mouse .

Eulalia · 12/01/2005 09:37

Bagpuss - I agree with you. 5 weeks is way too early to tell people you are pregnant, even more so if she had problems conceiving. It sounds like attention seeking but then again the poor thing must be unhappy to do it. Its an awkward situation. I am nervous about telling a friend who had 2 miscarriages last year one about 8 weeks and the other she found had died at the 12 week scan. All very traumatic. She has given up on having a 3rd so I am expecting mixed emotions when I tell her about mine.

Got a fright last night. Went to the loo, turned round to flush and saw red in the toilet! Then a remembered that I have been eating roast beetroot the last couple of days

Bagpuss30 · 12/01/2005 10:10

Eulalia, thanks . How awful about your friend, I hope it goes ok when you tell her. LOL about the beetroot .

whimsy · 12/01/2005 14:52

Well, have been for my first appointment at the new hospital today and they have given me another due date im now 13th July so 14weeks today The scan itself was really uncomfortable i think this was due to having an empty bladder. Everything was fine though and ds liked waving at the baby, bless.

MommyD · 12/01/2005 15:41

Hello all! At last! I have a booking in date of next Wednesday - I shall be just over 13 weeks.

I've got a teary story - I had to leave work today as all I felt like doing was crying. I feel overly sensitive about everything and all I wanted to do was to bawl my head off. Came home and just finished a good bawl. Work don't know I'm pg, but must have wondered why my bottom lip was rather wobbly today. Someone made a jokey, innocent comment about a document I had written and that was it - overflow. Made my excuses and ran. I just feel like crying and I have no idea why. Every time I start, I feel as though I will never stop....

This is my third pregnancy and I swear I can feel those first little movements. Wk 18ish with ds1, wk13-14 with ds2 and I am sure I can feel those unmistakable 'pops' and twitches from babe3.. at 12wk+ !!! Is it possible?

i felt my ds at 15 weeks & this one at 13 mommyd, so i bet you can .

Bagpuss30 · 12/01/2005 15:46

MommyD, poor you. I know exactly what you mean though. Sometimes the silliest things set me off. I always put it down to hormones.

I think it is possible to feel movement early on. When I was booked with dd at 12 weeks the midwife asked me if I had felt anything yet so I suppose it is different for everyone.

merryberry · 12/01/2005 16:27

Pamina, say 'as many as possible' with a straight face and a sweet smile to the next one to ask.

I have just started 16th week and think I can feel odd inside-scratchy feelings from the B. Is this a possibility so early in my first pg, does anyone know?

I'm relieved its not just me and the tearing up to songs. I was even kicking off to 'Some day my prince will come' during the 10o great musical songs programme a couple of weeks ago. DP was aghast. x

whimsy · 12/01/2005 16:33

I was thinking the same thing, as the last couple of nights i've felt that little popping sensation to. I didn't feel it this early on with ds but maybe it's because we know what to look out for this time IYKWIM

BabyDot · 12/01/2005 16:34

Oh I had a good cry over Robin Hood the cartoon at Christmas!

When I look back it now it was totally ridiculous but at the time the hubby dared to question my emotions and I went mad!

It really is chop and change from day to day, hour to hour, or even minute to minute somedays he he he he he

merryberry · 13/01/2005 09:58

Oh I wish my bump was bigger. I just look so dumpy at present. I want that bump to validate my heaviness:-)

Yours, dressed lumpily all in black today! xx

Lolasmum · 13/01/2005 10:40

Know what you mean Merryberry. I'm at that stage where maternity clothes are too big and mine are too small. I'm sitting at my desk with my jeans undone at the moment! Must get round to getting one of those trouser waist extenders.... I'm 14 weeks tomorrow, but I'm definitely a lot bigger than I was with dd. But still not big enough!!

pinkmama · 13/01/2005 10:58

SIckness seems to be receding, and tiredness levels not so bad (although did have to go to bed at 8 last night having exhausted myself crying so much yesterday!). Wondered if anyone else felt breathless. I can't even climb to top of stairs without getting out of breath. I am not generally unfit (clock up about 6 miles a day walking dd to school up some big hills), and feel well, chest doesn't feel congested, just short of breath with the slightest exhertion. Can't remember if i felt it with other pgs. Anyone else?

Eulalia · 13/01/2005 13:35

MommyD & hub2dee - good luck with your scans tomorrow. I will be thinking of you when I am having mine at 11.45 - you are both in London? I am 500 miles away.

Lets hope we all have some good news tomorrow

Bagpuss30 · 13/01/2005 13:48

Ooh,yes, Good Luck from me too .

BabyDot · 13/01/2005 14:42

Good luck guys! will be thinking of ya!

hoxtonchick · 13/01/2005 14:52

fingers crossed for good scans for everyone tomorrow (& pinkmama next week). xx

hub2dee · 13/01/2005 16:28

Many thanks for the good luck messages. Hopefully MommyD and dw Dee will both be relieved and reassured and smiley tomorrow afternoon.

MommyD: If our 12:30 runs on, we may see you, esp. if you turn up a tad early for your 2:00. What do you look like ? (Your booking in is the day after us).

We both eat too much and have dark brown hair (hers is long and slightly wavy, mine is short and slightly spiky).

Bagpuss30 · 13/01/2005 16:31

You could all wear carnations, lol

merglemergle · 13/01/2005 18:18
