Also planning on a tankini - TS do you think Florida can handle a pg lady in a spotty tankini?! Seen a nice one in Next.

hi ladies,

just wanted to say hi and let everyone know that I am still around! It's been a hard few months but I am coming through the other side I think and the medication is working and slowly getting back to normal(is) life. I've seen that the list has been updated slightly but haven't had chance to read all the messages - hope everyone is well. My due date has been changed to 14th Aug and I live in sunny Stockport! My next scan is 27th March!, was there anything else? ohh and we are hoping to find out gender - didn't with the other three!

Hi all,
Checking back in! Sorry for silent few weeks... work to blame.

Well, I'm loving the second trimester so far, no sickness like before (had particularly annoying toothpaste induced wretching problem!!) and my appetite has tripled. Bulging more too so will have to get some maternity gear now. Surviving so far on Topshop maternity 'skinny' jeans, godsend for now at least.

Had 12 week scan and bloods, due date moved to aug 7 (appears the doc couldn't add up first time round). Will update rest on our growing list!

Just a quick note from me to say I HIT 12 WEEKS TODAY! Am very relieved, I don't know why just one day should make a difference, but just feel a little bit safer today!

Nuchal scan on Friday, so assuming everything is OK we will announce our news next week I think.

My hopes that MS would magically disappear at 12 weeks have been dashed though - sick as a dog this morning!

Good luck with the scan today Mum2go...

It's been a beautiful weekend here but I spent most of it feeling awful. I don't know what I've got but I had a raging temperature and all the glands in my neck swelled up. The only thing that made my sore throat ease was popping paracetamol and drinking hot blackcurrant.

I sat like an old lady in our garden in the sunshine with a blanket over my knees.

It seems to be getting better. I've packed DS off to nursery as usual and taken the day sick off work.

Hi all. Glad to see the growing list! I'm 15 weeks now, much more energy, thankfully. Still lots of weird growing pains in my belly, still lots of trapped wind and breathlessness. But feeling fine really. I started going to pregnancy yoga which is cool. Just waiting to feel a bit of movement now to dispel the anxiety. 11 weeks scan was fine, but I need more evidence!

Thanks, dizzydixies for the tankini tips. I am balking at spending £30 for a speedo costume that I'll only wear for five months. Luckily my friend has lent me loads of clothes, so I won't have to go to work in tracksuit bottoms again this week!

philb am pml at the tankini advice, I haven't managed to fit into a tankini since before dd1 and she is nearly 5 and yet am still passing out recommendations about them!!! Am just stealing advice from friend who can wear such things even when pg

am doing ok girls, bleeding seems to have eased and am 16wks today (don't ask me how that works as I thought I wasn't 16wks till wed but thats from the hosp/scan and I'm taking every extra day I can at the moment!) have been out doing stuff for first time today and I mean proper stuff not running about after kids. Went dentist, bank,couple of quick shops in town for badly needed birthday card/food etc and home again. Don't mind admitting am fecking shattered and considering nap whilst dd2 having hers - how pathetic is that I was only in real world for 2 hours!!!

Hope you had that nap DD - I accidentally fell asleep with DC after lunch which was great as i'd been up since 6am but the downside was the vomiting i always get after sleeping in the day. Good to hear you're doing well, you have reminded me MIL's birthday is fast approaching and must buy card.

Libbysister - I see you are in Oxfordshire, which part are you in? Hope you are feeling better now, the warm sunshine in the garden is just lovely - a real pick me up.

dixie..I'm seconding the about having a sleep this afternoon. the way i see it is that we need to sleep every hour we can whenever we can in that hope that the sleep store will be fully stocked by the time the next round of LOs arrive!

as for your weeks, I'm 16 weeks tomorrow so that ties in with your 16 weeks on Wed.

we're seeing the midwife tomorrow and i really hope we get to hear the heartbeat, keeping all fingers and toes crossed

i've started taking pregnacare. haven't noticed any huge improvements in tiredness but i guess its early yet

actually, Dixie, if you don't want to have a nap this afternoon, can i have it for you?!

I am 16 weeks today. I haven't got any sort of appointment for another three weeks, and then it is with the GP. I would assume by then she could hear the hertbeat, but I have no idea if they have the equipment at the GP surgery as there are no midwives there.

I went for a two hour walk in the park today with my children and I am totaly shattered now. I am definately not up for any sort of exercise these days!

ilanak - i have to say i know how you feel. i'm still trying to make sure i get my 2dc to nap at the same time each day just so i can get an hours rest! early nights here too 9pm...aaaah what's happening to me, aren't people my age meant to be out partying??

Oh bllcks, I've caught conjunctivitis off DS . Do I have to get separate eyedrops or can I use his?

Been quiet lately, have caught the sickness bug from my nephew. Now I know how all you ladies suffering from MS have been feeling. It's terrible, I feel so sick but am not getting sick so I think everybody thinks I'm just making it up!!

DP asked me if it was MS/pregnancy related but as I didn't suffer in 1st 12 weeks I would be surprised if it suddenly started now I'm 15 weeks. Although I know it can happen but I'm just crossing my fingers it's just a bug x

buckets dh says better off getting your own for something as contagious as that due to cross contamination - he is a bit of an expert as always getting eye infections

shazza thanks hope you're feeling better soon - I must be getting your actual sickness as dh made me lovely roast chicken and mash for tea (my favourite) and have just brought it all up feeling fine I just think its a terrible waste of my favousite food lol

friend of mine who was visiting London for a few days has been badgered and frankly bullied into selfridges food hall to bring me back krispy kream donuts!!! am no longer getting to new york on Thurs so have to get my fix somewhere and will make his life a living hell if he doesn't!! I BETTER not have sickness again tomorrow night

Went Tankini shopping today. The first set of suits are in the stores. Nothing jumped out and said "WILL LOOK AWESOME ON YOU!" I ended up purchasing a couple tanks that will work nicely with my yoga pants. DD got upset as she thought they were new dresses for her. I think I've created a clothing monster!!!

Captain I'm actually jealous of your trip to Florida because you'll be able to find the BEST bathing suit there. I've been weighing my options as to whether to drive to the beach in March too just to shop (oh and enjoy time with my family).

Boobs feel extra swollen today. What's up with that?!?

Conjunctivitis (spelling) is going around here too. DD's best playmate has it. Her mom called me last night to say Sorry (just in case). DD woke up sneezing her head off. Sent her to preschool with tissue instructions. Drugged her the minute she got home in the hopes we can STOP the maddness before it gets too far gone. She's not sneezed since...fingers crossed.

TwilightSurfer I'm with you on the boobs thing today! I was measured 2wks ago at a 30G and feeling like I'm starting to spill over the cups a bit already! Argh!!

So glad Monday is almost over, that makes it one day closer to the weekend and more baby shopping. I was in Next on Sunday and fell in love with their Ollie and Molly range so much that I bought curtains, a lightshade, a gro-bag, a wallpaper border and a muscial mobile!!! I had the curtains and the shade up within a few hours, need to wait for the cot to get the mobile sorted and a willing DH for the border! I know I'm only 13+4 but it pays to be prepared! At least, that's my excuse!
My MIL then proceeded to get all annoyed at me when I told her that I put the curtains up myself as apparently me stretching will put the cord around the baby's neck! As if I don't worry about stuff enough! I don't think curtain hanging is doing me any damage - hope I'm right as I obv don't want to harm the baby, but I can't see how I'm putting him/her at risk in this way. Am I right or should I (heaven forbid!) listen to the MIL?

Hazie where on earth did your MIL come up with that theory "...stretching too much causes the cord to get wrapped around the baby..." WTF. I'd say toss that bit of nonsense in the waste basket. Think of all those athletes that move/stretch constantly throughout their pregnancies (example: Gabrielle Reece). Hanging curtains is not anything I'd be too worried over.

As for boobs, I feel like a total bum because I've NEVER been measured for a bra. I just wing it. Although I will admit I've never found a bra that I could say I LOVE. My current expansion might cause me to seek professional assistance though. I think they swelled twice their normal size over night.

I hope you are all feeling well.
I had my 12 week scan yesterday, for the most part it went ok. Baby was in there which i was totally paranoid about, alive, kicking, swallowing and sucking its thumb..very cute.

The negative side though is that based on the nuchal measurement they gave me a higher than average chance of downs syndrome. THey measure 3 times which i now understand is standard practice. 2 of the times they measured it was comfortably within the normal range and once was slightly out. They go with the worst case scenario.
There are a few things i am not comfortable with, the sonnographer found it really really difficult to get the baby in the right position and i just didn't get a good feeling about her. Admittedly i might feel this stronger now because i didnt like what she had to say.

She then sent me to a midwifw who talked me through further testing options, none of which i am that comfortable with.

I think i am going to get a second opinion privately and combine the other scan with blood tests which they dont offer on the NHS.

Rationally i know my worst case scenario is still only about 1%. The adjusted risk they gave me was 1:177 as opposed to 1:828 for a normal woman my age.
The largest measurent was 2.7.

My gut feeling tells me everything is fine, maybe naive or wishful thinging i dont know.
We did tell our familes our good news and didnt mention any of this to them.

I posted for advice on the pregnancy board and most people were amazing as always on mumsnet. There was one comment which i thought was a bit judgemental / accusatory (sp) and it upset me quite a bit last night. I'm not going to respond to it because a) i might just be hormonal, oversensitive and pregnant! and b) if i am not, i just dont want to get drawn into some of the mean stuff you see on here occasionally!

So i have come to the safety net of my antenatal bored for a bit reassurance and tlc from you lovely ladies.

If i had to sum up how i feel now, for the most part, very happy but cautiously. What is pregnancy without worries hey???
