Hi Buckets - what program showed an osteopath manipulating a premie baby? I would be very worried about letting an osteopath anywhere near a baby, let alone a prem baby. I once knew a baby who had both legs and an arm broken as a result of normal cares (nappy changing etc). He only had one arm left for blood tests etc and had big notices up all over his incubator alerting people to his poor little limbs!

Put a year on my age earlier - I'm not actually 38 until March, doh!

have heard of osteopath treating a child successfully with colic and dd2 has such an unexplained temper sometimes I wonder if I shouldnt' get her checked just in case!! Its certainly a thing they recommend you do if possibly having a big baby because having everything aligned can be very benificial

managed kids at soft play this morning and then party this afternoon but I stupidly touched my eye after blowing up balloons and now look like a boxer - its swollen / red and closed up - not my most attractive look to date!!

left early due to eye freaking kids out and dd1 decided her tummy hurt - didn't want any cake/sweets and has gone straight to bed without a peep so must be bothering her bless her!

I think there might be confusion over the term osteopath. Most people think of it as an invasive manipulative treatment (moving arms and legs around) as it can be for adults. Babies are treated by cranial osteopaths who barely lay hands on the child at all. It is extremely subtle and does not hurt the baby.

If you are in London, I highly recommend the Osteopathic Centre for Children in Farringdon (which I have just noticed has changed names) - website here: www.fpo.org.uk/ They are wonderful (I have had both boys treated there and they also treat pregnant and postnatal women.

Yummy, lovely curry for tea! Enjoyed every minute of it and have got a bit left over for later .

Evening ladies. What a day! This exhaustion is killing me. I'm trying to combat it and the nausea with FOOD, eating solid protein based meals every few hours. ARGHHH!! Please let there be light at the end of this tunnel SOON.

Didn't mention it yet but had an uneventful OB/GYN visit yesterday. Basic check, measure belly & listen to heartbeat. All good, of course. Next OB/GYN visit will be the Friday after my 2nd trimester nuchal scan so I expect it will be just as uneventful. Nothing tops the scans...seeing baby waving and all.

In two weeks I'll be 37 so today I scheduled my birthday present. Saturday the 23rd I will be receiving a one hour prenatal m a s s a g e . I need it now but decided to give it to myself ON MY BIRTHDAY so I wouldn't feel too guilty about the indulgence. My prenatal yoga classes start next Sunday too. I'm really looking forward to them as well. If my energy level doesn't improve maybe the yoga and massage will help my attitude which is starting to dip into the bad category.

Captain I'd like to know exactly what type of hockey you play. Isn't that played on ice? Where you can fall down? Isn't it a rough sport overall?? Plus, isn't it a very high energy game??? HOW DO YOU DO IT!? You must have a massive amount of get-up-and-go. It makes me feel bad because I haven't the energy to do the dishes have the time. Let's figure out your secret, bottle it and MAKE MILLIONS!!!

TS - more transatlantic similarities...it's my birthday next Friday (15th Feb). I shall be 35 and celebrating with a meal with friends. Going for a curry Yummmm.

I play what I guess you might call 'field hockey'. We play on astroturf, and yes it still hurts if you fall over (I grazed my knuckle and my elbow yesterday!). GP says its ok to play until about 16 weeks as prob too big to run then. Can't run too long now so deffo not playing past 16 weeks . Plan to start ante-natal yoga, just got to find a local class. In fact I'm off to google it now!

Captain Caveman, I think you are fantastic (if slightyl crazy ) still playing hockey. I couldn;t play the bleedin sport when I wasn't pregnant let alone when I am !

Osteopath - I can highly recommend. DH & I have one we see if necessary and he performed cranial osteopathy on DD when she was 3-4 weeks old. Where she was born via ventouse and her head was very badly swollen it actually turned out that one half of her scull at the back was squashed causing her to suffer from headaches, she also suffered with colic. He sorted both issues out in just 2 sessions, barely touched DD and showed me the massage techniques to use on her tummy so I didn't keep having to spend £35 going back to him every time. I highly recommend

Dizzy {{hugs}} Try and get as much rest as you can xxx I think I definatly take it for granted things going OK all the time, in my head I think once you get past 12 weeks without a M/C, there's nothing that can go wrong until the 24 weeks +, I guess I just don't like to think about it. I had a horrible nightmare last night that the screening people rung and said something about chromosone abnormality (??), but the phone wasn't working properly to ring them back! Had a great day at the beach though yesterday (apart from randomly seeing my ex there!) and wanted to go again today, but DH has agreed to overtime right slap bang in the middle of the afternoon Just found out aswell my mum has been clearing and working on the wrong allotment - she had it all cut back and cleaned reading for digging, then we found out mine was next to it - the one with knee high weeds and a shopping trolley dumped in it! The osteopath I saw was on that hospital show on at the moment on ITV or BBC. You couldn't even see him doing the movements they were that subtle. Might not have been a premie but was v small and in a SCBU fishtank.

Have peculiar working hours again today, so popped home for a break. DS has pink in both eyes now, really ought to find a pharmacist that's open today and get some advice/treatment, rotten parents that we are.

my awful grammer about my uncle's dress made me smile! perhaps i should suggest he does have one as well! although next to the three little neices i reckon he'd look a bit silly. perhaps he should just wear it in the comfort of his own home!

Captain you were almost a valentine's baby. My dd's birthday is the 18th. Haven't a clue what to do for her day yet. I'm sure it will come to me at the last minute. Still amazed at your ability to manage your team sport but feel better that your not attempting it on little blades over a bed of ice. Would still like just a smidge of your endurance level.

I just employed my dad for the funniest of all tasks. He's in Hawaii until late April so I've asked him to keep an eye out for cool maternity hot-weather wear. My thought is those ladies will know how to best stay cool as it's 80degrees year round there. He can be my personal shopper!!

How's everyone elses maternity wear pursuits coming along?

I am pretty well stocked up on maternity wear now. All of it sent over from the US (motherhood.com). I needed plus size and there was nothing over here. This will be my third summer baby so I know it is going to get hot and uncomfotable towards the end. I did say that if I ever had a third baby, it would be a winter one just to see what that was like, but this one was not planned so ended with yet another summer baby!

IlanaK so from your experience would you say less is best ? I just can't imagine what it's going to feel like. Summers get very very HOT here.

Realistically, whatever you wear you will be hot. I always stick to cotton fabric, loose styles. I remember being about 39 weeks pg with my first baby and sitting in my garden (this was before I moved to central London - no garden here) and sticking my feet in a bucket of cold water!

I was the same with dd1, I was huge it was summer 2003 which was a stoater for scotland and had a horrible skin condition on my stomach. I remember lying on tile floor in bathroom in bra and knickers praying nobody would come and visit lol

loose cottons - tunics etc are fab!

Shopping trip was rubbish. Came back with one top from dorothy perkins which is ok but nowt special. Hmmm. Off to look on-line at laredoute as they are less pricey than blooming marvellous. Keep glancing on ebay but always get outbid.
Has anyone else looked at www.maternityexchange.com? (or something like that). They seemed fairly reasonable - plus you can hire stuff rather than buy it if you want!

OMG Dizzy that's hilarious. I'll probably end up doing the same this summer. I knew there was a good reason for keeping the tile in our guest bath.

What about swimsuits? I'm a bikini chic but not sure that's a good idea in my condition. One-piece suits and tankinis always get hot to me (under normal conditions). Is a two piece a bad idea with a whale belly??

Captain I've been outbid twice on ebay so far for maternity wear. Seems everything I like somebody else does too...and they have quicker bidding fingers.

Will be hitting at least one resale shop tomorrow in the hopes I'll find a few good clothing items. I just hate having to look for summer stuff in the winter...but it I don't I'll be out of luck.

TS why don't you get a tankini so when you want you can roll it up or if feeling the need to cover up slightly there's always an option
